xthedestroyer666
Metroid Prime. The ambient electronic soundtrack fits the atmosphere of the game perfectly and is a GREAT listen just on its own.

ResoluteRock
Half Life 2: Path of Borealis is fantastic! I remember really liking the music from RiME. That game was overall really enjoyable. It was a nice, quiet, peaceful change of pace (minus the bird level ) and the music that accompanied it helped to establish that peaceful tone. Seasonreaper
Many. A good chunk of my music collection is VGM. The ones that always come to mind and get a lot of playtime are these: Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 by Akira Yamaoka Risk of Rain by Chris Christodolou Persona 3, 4 and 5 by Shoji Meguro NieR, NieR:Automata and Drakengard 3 by Keiichi Okabe FFXIV by Masayoshi Soken Hollow Knight by Christopher Larkin Hotline Miami 1 and 2 by Various Artists (Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, Scattle, Mega Drive probably being my favourites) Child of Light by Cœur de pirate DOOM (2016) by Mick Gordon Unreal Tournament by Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos Mechwarrior 2 by Gregory Alper and Jeehun Hwang Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance by Jamie Christopherson Gravity Rush 1 and 2 by Kohei Tanaka Plants vs Zombies and numerous other insert songs from other games by Laura Shigihara Bastion by Darren Korb Bloodborne by honestly too many people to name Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac by Danny Baronowsky Pretty much every Touhou game by ZUN, but especially Mountain of Faith, Subterranean Animism, Undefined Fantastic Object and Double Dealing Character Plus numerous others. So much good music out there.
RachelCharlotte
There are so many, but since most of them have already been mentioned by others I will just add these: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles has a soundtrack that perfectly captures the sense of adventure and going into the wild. And Trine as well as Trine 2 are similarly beautiful.

Dreakon13
I think Unravel might be the only soundtrack I've ever bought. I used to put it on before bed (plucking a few songs out that were a bit too uptempo) and/or occasionally listen to it while working. Very pretty, soothing. Celeste is another winner. I didn't actually purchase this soundtrack, but I like it a lot. Coincidentally, my favorite tunes from Unravel and Celeste both have the same song name. ZitMeatloaf
Five favorites off the top of my head: Pyre - best vg soundtrack I've heard in a long time. I hear Bastion and Transistor are great as well, haven't played those yet. Final Fantasy X - all the FF soundtracks are great, but this one's my favorite. The Hymns of the Fayth are hauntingly beautiful. FFVII is a close second, looking forward to the remake soundtrack. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - same as FF, all the soundtracks are great. I have a Japanese import orchestral version which is fantastic. Rayman Legends - The music levels are genius (Mariachi "Eye of the Tiger" is my favorite). Journey - all beautiful, the sand sliding level is my favorite, closely followed by the final sky level. ZitMeatloaf
Oh, and this is totally cheating and not what you're looking for, but I'm gonna add Guitar Hero: Metallica. Because it's the best Guitar Hero and playing their songs is awesome.
Gisquared09
Heavy Rain-Such a good original score, movie like quality in my opinion. Metal Gear Solid series, especially 4 Assassins Creed II and brotherhood GTA IV Infamous 1 and 2 Mafia II and III Max Payne 3 Skyrim Red Dead Redemption II Uncharted 4 Looking at this list it seems older games tended to have soundtracks that stood out to me more. Maybe it’s nostalgia playing a role in me picking these games.

ZitMeatloaf
I'm seeing a lot of glowing feedback about Cadence of Hyrule and its soundtrack in particular. Has anybody played it? I've never played Crypt of the Necrodancer, so Cadence of Hyrule didn't look very interesting to me when it was first announced, but now I kind of want to give it a try. Eyjabria
I love listening to videogame music and I've bought multiple original soundtracks and also some fan made albums. My top favorite game soundtracks are probably Megaman 2 (NES) - The melodies still hold up to this day and go head to head with music produced for modern consoles / PC Chrono Cross (PlayStation) - I've never even played the game, yet I think it's easily among the best game soundtracks I've listened to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch) - Masterful composing, enhances the game to new heights, Gormott theme is especially amazing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Legendary pieces, these are again songs that stand on their own and you don't have to play the game to enjoy them The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, Switch) - The mellow sounds fit the environments and feel of the game nicely, beautiful Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS) - I really enjoyed this one, nice combination of lighter and more serious pieces, though I love the game very much as well Ragnarok Online (PC) - Very refreshing non-traditional videogame music of varying genres Persona 4 Golden (Vita) - This falls under the non-traditional category as well, the soundtrack works really well both in the game and alone Persona 5 (PS3, PS4) - Again some more unique compositions with distinct style and skillful creation of mood, the quality is high and even throughout the whole soundtrack (except the Mementos music is terrible!) So many great soundtracks it's hard to pick. There are of course legendary melodies in games like Super Mario and Pokémon that everyone seems to recognize but very often soundtracks have only one or two exceptional pieces. I played Cadence of Hyrule to 100% completion and really enjoyed my time with it. It's the perfect length IMO, looks really polished, the rhythm-based gameplay is fun and the soundtrack is of course the main draw of the game. Skillful remixes of epic Zelda tunes. P.S. If you enjoy Zelda music, I recommend violin cover albums by Taylor Davis. She does other videogame music as well and they are quite incredible. Such skill!
