RachelCharlotte Posted March 5, 2020 Share Posted March 5, 2020 While there are many great PS2 games which I played in different versions (e.g. TimeSplitters on the Gamecube or the Ratchet and Clank series on the PS3), I don't even remember ever owning twenty (or even ten) PS2 games. I do however remember that Champions of Norrath and Champions Return to Arms were the reason for me to initially buy a multitap and later insist on getting the first model of the PS3 so that I could keep playing those games. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time I really want to play Rule of Rose, because I heard a good words about the game but it is so expensive even in PAL region. Maybe one day I will find a cheap copy . Final Fantasy X- simply one of the finest RPGs ever made 3. Resident Evil 4- the best Resident Evil game though some blame it for the series' downturn 4. Kingdom Hearts II- simply the most fun I've ever had with an RPG gameplay-wise 5. God of War II- vicious and exciting Greek mythological carnage 6. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Subsistence)- the series' zenith, all the good stuff of its predecessor with less of the postmodernist wankery 7. Shadow of the Colossus- one of the most atmospheric experiences ever 8. Silent Hill 2- same as above, but with horror 9. Final Fantasy XII- underappreciated by FF purists because of the battle system that takes some getting used to, actually one of the best stories in the series 10. Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy- awesome platformer 11. Ratchet & Clank 3 (Up your Arsenal)- awesome gadgets and guns 12. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City- the pinnacle of open world gaming on PS2 before San Andreas came along 13. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Substance)- if Snake had been the main protagonist everyone would hail this as the best game ever 14. Beyond Good & Evil- criminally overlooked action platformer 15. Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2)- criminally overlooked RPG 16. Canis Canem Edit (Bully)- like GTA but in school 17. Kingdom Hearts- lots of charm and nostalgia 18. Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (Special Edition)- one of the best hack and slash games ever made 19. God of War- gave us Kratos, deserves a spot for that alone, but it's also really fun 20. Gran Turismo 4- the best racing game on PS2 and the only one I would ever consider playing again. Manhunt Other parts of sagas/trilogies I've finished on PC/PS3/other platforms, therefore I do not associate them so much with PS2 as these 20 games. However, it was and is the essential part of my childhood (still, it is PSOne, which "sold" gaming for me and for Tekken 3 and Crash Bandicoot 3 I'll be forever grateful).
