Has game ever made you cry? (Spoiler?)

I've shed many tears over many games but I thrive on emotional intensity. I seek out heartbreaking games whether they be beautiful or gut wrenching. I've played enough games of endless killing like a machine; been there, done that. It's dull. I want the real stuff.

I feel like there is a list coming.

What Remains Of Edith Finch

The Walking Dead Season 1

Firewatch (this is a must-play)

The Last Of Us

Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons

Last Day Of June

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Beyond Two Souls (this one is a grey area, but I feel like it definitely made me emotional in a few places)

I don't often cry at games but Life is Strange managed to make me very emotional at certain moments. Especially the first game. There's scenes later on that are a total gut punch.

Definitely agree with Life Is Strange, I will add Life Is Strange: True Colours as well.

I don't remember exactly how many but, Life is Strange and their sequels, The Last of Us, Celeste, also TLOU II, some older games because mainly of their music. I also recently cried with the intro of FFVII Remake because it's oh so beautiful.

I cried more with movies though, they have more power on that regard.

The list would be eternal because I cried with CLICK WITH ADAM SANDLER so you can imagine.

Storm Boy and Endling made me well up, I won't lie.

Life is strange & LISBTS hit the feels pretty hard too.

Days Gone was another that had its moments. Incredible writing.

i certainly got emotional at the end of the walking dead season 1, but i think i was closer to crying at other moments throughout the game like in the pharmacy when lee is talking to her in the office and clems theme kicks in. something about that theme was just really powerful, and there was also ducks fate which was a tough scene to watch. aside from that i havent ever gotten that emotional but i remember playing mgs3 for the first time and not wanting to pull the trigger on the boss, just sitting in silence realizing what i had to do but not having the strength to do it. it was smart for that moment to be put onto the player.

I think the ending of The Last of Us gets me more than the beginning, but the beginning still hits. Aside from that, Death Stranding still gets me to this day even tho I've replayed it so much. Never did I think that a game would target the exact specific emotions I felt (and still do) when I first played it .

no game has, but a few have been close

These are the ones that spring to mind:

The Walking Dead S1

Bioshock Infinite

The Last Of Us

pretty impressed that games can evoke so much emotion since movies barely get much out of me 😅

Like a Dragon Gaiden the ending cut scene. If you played all the games it was just heart breaking to see the ending. To see Kiryu who never was much emotional crying put tears in my eyes

I'm sure there have been more than a few instances, but the one that really sticks out the most personally is Endling: Extinction is Forever. I've got a soft spot for animals and that ending just ripped my heart out. Cried like a baby and when my daughter came to ask what was going on I showed her and she started the waterworks too. I love games that can get that kind of reaction out of me.

Never full-blown tears, but a few have got a good misty-eye, or a decent welling up.

The end of the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2 (primarily because that music is so damned effective!)

The end of Life is Strange

The end of Life is Strange: Before the Storm

The swimming moment near the end of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

The end of Outer Wilds

The final concert in Goodbye Volcano High

Ellie leaving Dina in TLOUpII

....and seeing what a complete mess they made of what could have been a decent franchise in Jak II😂

I got a bit misty eyed for these:
Life is Strange, on the ending I never choose myself.

Zero dawn: Elizabeth’s final message.

A Plague Tale Requiem… I didn’t actually cry, but damn, that game is some Grade A misery porn.

Assassins Creed Unity: This horrible trophy where you have to drive around paris destroying everything for hours ruined the fun for me at all. I was so angry I had a tear in my eyes 😉

Generalizing all similar situations under "cry", to name a few...

Telltale's The Walking Dead, most notably Season 1 and Season 4

God Eater

Gravity Rush 2

Heavy Rain

and... seeing what a complete disaster they made out of what could have been a solid franchise in The Last of Us: "Part II" 😭.

Not really, but I understand the reasoning behind the scene; sometimes it can get emotional even for me

But crying, no. It's just not what I do anymore. As a kid, I would probably have - I was a crybaby, I always cried for anything - but nowadays I only cry for laughter.

I might have shed a few tears over some scenes but not sure if I have cried, or I can't remember which game. Oh wait, The Lost Words Beyond the Page made me shed tears. Hit too close to home with my grandmother's passing and the way my family splintered.

Just going to put this out here. If you are a man, it's okay to cry, there is nothing wrong with a full adult man crying, it does not make you a woman or anything. It's 2024, not 1994, and it's okay for men to be senstive and well, cry if they want to.
