PS5 embargos seem to have lifted, and so has a UI video which includes a brief look at how your Trophy Lists will look on the PS5 (14:41). This video is primarily discussing accessibility options within the new PS5 UI (unfortunately, can't listen to the video right now as I'm in the office and was on a lunch break when originally writing, but have watched it "muted"). I'll perhaps add links to other videos as and when they drop. Would be very interested to see everyone's opinions! Disclaimer: I'm sharing this for fun. Whilst it's not a huge deal, I personally love tech UI's in general (especially consoles) and is one of the things I've personally been looking forward to (aside from the actual games and technological advancements obviously). Some seem to agree based on the UI-based forum threads I've seen on PSNProfiles, whilst others think UI talk is irrelevant, which has led to arguments in those forum threads. Discussion is encouraged but please keep it civil. Personal Thoughts: I think its okay. It's clean looking enough, and I really like the new trophy icons, but game art tiles are very questionable. The PS5 game art tiles are square rather than the traditional rectangular shape and are very small. The PS4 game art is still rectangular intercut into a blank square, which doesn't look very good at all. When you're looking at a game's trophies (15:33) I'm also not a fan. I much prefer the look of a traditional top-down list rather than a left-to-right 'swiping' list as I feel it's more efficient and easier to read. At least I'm not spending my time on a console solely to use the XMB, I'd be playing games and if I do want to view people's trophies I often check them out on this website. Sturmhauser Posted November 6, 2020 Share Posted November 6, 2020 The PS4 game list artwork have been crap in generell compared to the ps3 where most games had graphical icons (twisted metal, red faction gueriella, vanquish and god of war are good examples) whereas on the PS4 it's just a lazy recatangle copypaste screenshot (mafia defentive eiditon, resident evil 3 and mega man 11 are examples). For those lazy ones - the video shows how the UI works for people with visual impairments... the guy who is describing that is almost blind I guess. Was the first video I saw which really went into the trophy list, hence the share. It’s slick, clean, minimalistic and feels “premium”. Easy to use and navigate. Tons of new features and things that even the competition doesn’t have. I love it and can’t wait to get my hands on it. Ps4 still in rectangular and ps5 in square, why? and if they change back to rectangular but theses launch ps5 titles remains in square, just why? lol scroll left-right is bad also.
