Their so called replacements have been either awful, or mediocre at best. Changing the way trophy levels are calculated. Revamping the entire PlayStation Store to where I still cannot find fucking DLC for a lot of games, I have to scroll my ass thru search results to find them. Taking away Communities. Changing the Party system (Private Parties are no longer a thing). This is just another decision in a long line of fucking bad ones that have made the website experience worse. It's 2021, and yet Sony is taking steps backwards. I want to say it's primarily the PS3/Vita getting left behind because granted, they're old consoles now that few people care about anymore. But they've also taken steps to remove and change features on the PS4, the console that I use the most by far out of the three systems I own that have trophy support. At the end of the day, it's big business. A giant corporation like Sony couldn't give a shit less what a million people think, because the tens of millions out there who never had any word of say in anything are still out there shelling money for their products. Corporations will cut back costs and look for what supplies them the most profit, taking little to no risk to make ends meet. It's the world we live in today. We're a bunch of niche gamers who all partake in a hobby. They're the guys in business suits pulling the stings, who probably have next to no knowledge in how games even play, let alone know anything on what constitutes a good game and what doesn't. Literally couldn’t even add friends through it, most of the time messages wouldn’t send either. Their app is absolutely egregious. To be fair, before update 8.00, it worked perfectly. After that, I couldn't see what my friends were playing in the dropdown friendlist, only in the friends tab. It wouldn't tell me how many friends were online either, the online ones were just listed on top of the dropdown list. I think since around 8.2 or so, I couldn't write messages via webchat anymore unless there was already an ongoing conversation, so no new ones. They nerfed it bit by bit, maybe in an effort to remove it entirely eventually. Before 8.00, it was really useful to me and even now the webchat is still useful. The PlayStation Store website is just as horrible.
