Popular Post KimBongUn420
Update #5 - lots of progress this time! Started way too many games and now am switching back and forth between 4 different ones ?: Ghost Recon: Breakpoint - progressed far more quickly than I thought I would. Only have the co-op & multiplayer trophies left. I found myself hating the game a little bit less the more hours I put into it, but it's still quite bad. There is a decent game buried underneath all of the horribleness, but you have to dig so far deep to find it that it's just not worth your time. And the next GR is a Battle Royale game...someone needs to take this franchise and license away from Ubisoft. Like I said last time, if you want to play this type of game, go play Wildlands or Just Cause 4 instead. 428: Shibuya Scramble - got through one more hour block. Still very entertaining but I've been trying to slog through Breakpoint so haven't given this one a lot of time. Erica - started this one over the weekend, made it through 2 playthroughs but I'm pretty sure I missed an oleander leaf so will have to add another playthrough probably . I cannot believe there is no way to revisit a decision without restarting the entire 90-minute playthrough. Couple that with the fact that the app doesn't work with the game on PS5, and it makes for an extremely annoying experience. I wouldn't even attempt doing this game without a guide for this reason alone. Will hold off commenting on the story until I've completed more playthroughs. Ys IX - made it through the first chapter and like it a lot so far. Jury is still out on whether I'll like it more than VIII. Lots of interesting things going on with the musical score though - weird time signatures everywhere which adds even more uniqueness to Falcom's already stellar scores. Looking forward to committing a lot more time to this one. Adding LA Noire because I randomly found I owned it while sifting through games on my external hard drive. Played it way back in the day on PC so it'll be fun to run through it again. Also, shamelessly stealing @InfinateEternity's color key because it's far better than the one I've been using lol. Popular Post YaManSmevz
Toasty War Journal #6 10/20/21 It's ya man Smevz, reporting live from the struggle bus! Free time is quite the commodity these days. Bit of gaming here, bit of gaming there, with my world being mostly work and family stuff. Unfortunate, but what can you do? Life gonna life. Started two new games in The Witness and Hotline Miami, and I found out the hard way that you should never, ever play either of these games hungover. Damn if Miami ain't got a fire ass soundtrack, and the Super Smash TV look is killer, but the loud colors and throbbing music is NOT hangover-friendly. Nor is the mind-bending Witness. When your brain calls in sick, you're best off to accept it and let it go. I'm definitely at my puzzle solving best when he's well rested and ready to go! In any case, both games are excellent, but if you're in that state, you're better off playing something else. Or better yet, just going back to sleep! Chippin away at Hitman, which is progressively rewarding. Such a brilliantly crafted game, and it becomes more and more clear every time I play it. Figuring out how to maintain when shit goes off the rails, noticing how every NPC has their own little loop, there's just so much to work with here, and it's always a blast. Even if I'm frustrated with being unable to do something, it's like a quarrel with my wife - I know full well I ain't gonna be mad for long? I know eventually I'ma start making some dope progress, and I'm not quite there yet... but that's not to take away from those of y'all who are! Seein some impressive updates, peeps are tearin through these games! It's been so inspiring and I'm excited for my turn to get some serious shit did? As always, thanks for your awesome updates! 1. Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
Super brief update! I'm one partial playthrough away from getting the platinum for Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope. So the fact that House of Ashes comes out in a day or two is perfect timing. I'm feeling spooky and impulsive so I'm going to add that to my list. I shouldn't really be making my list bigger, it's already pretty full by my usual standards. But I have alot of time off at the end of the year so I'm still confident (we'll see how that lasts!) In other news, turns out I didn't actually own a copy of Resident Evil 0, but the timing is perfect because it's super cheap in the PSN sale that just came out. There are quite a few Resident Evil titles in the EU sale too, so I might scoop a couple of others up. Hope the week is going well for everyone! Happy hunting and congratulations on the progress made so far! My experience so far has been mostly fun, and a little frustrating, too. But I think that's normal when trying to learn and improve at anything. Even in the short time I've been playing, I can tell I'm getting better and actually understanding basic racing concepts more. I still have a long way to go, but I'm enjoying the process. I don't know if I'll ever actually get the plat - I haven't been close to a pole or win yet online - but even getting to this level has got me excited to try other sim racers in the future. As for tips, I'd say: -Go through the Driving School and Missions first, and get all the golds. -Learn Manual Transmission as soon as you can. I put it off, but now I can't imagine going back to Automatic. -Turn off the assists as you get comfortable. The only assist I use now is the Cone Marker one to show braking points. -Do your daily workout and get your free daily car everyday. Save your credits for the "best" cars for certain races or missions. There's a bunch of good guides and example videos around, too. This is a good basic one that I try to follow (except for getting a wheel, I'm not that into sim racers yet): Have fun! Popular Post skeggah
Hej! Been mostly playing through the DLC and New Game+ of Marvel's Spider-Man this last couple of days, but for this update I have some... updates! Knack 2 Finished with this game. It got better by the level actually and in the end I have come to consider it a fun game. Where it truly shined for me was in getting the 70 medals. Speed-runs, no-death-runs, those kind of things are a fun/frustrating addition that i hate/love! Jak & Daxter I believe I'm nearing the halfway point of the game. I like it. Did a level yesterday that is spent in its entirety on a Zoomer. I remember this stage from when I first played the game on PS3 a decade ago and my concerns started piling up. Still, managed to get it done in an hour or so, great fun and a great redemption for me! Overcooked Been going a little slower at this game. Somehow I prefer it while drinking beer with gf, and we haven't had many beers lately. Next sitting will probably get it completed though! Popular Post Fanatixa1
Hi everyone! Got my first platinum so wanted to do an update. I finished GTA: San Andreas and this is my 125th platinum! I loved this game on the PS2 and I thought to replay it (not knowing a remaster is coming) and make it my 125th platinum. I still enjoyed the game but it's quite rough. The years are counting on this game and I hope Rockstars remaster has some improvements. I've made some progress in Hades too. Haha sometimes I'm tempted to steal other peeps' formats too, some folks here are mad creative! I've fallen victim to juggling too, and while I don't know too much about three of the games you mentioned, I can most definitely sympathize on Erica. Great concept, but I feel the format, trophy system, and most damningly, the story itself really let it down. On 10/20/2021 at 2:29 AM, Heather342 said: I love the Hitman games. Sapienza is a beast ass map, The Icon and Landslide really let the setting flex its vastness and versatility! I actually already have 2 and 3, and am eager to get into them. Is it weird that I got happy when I found out the trophies don't auto-pop for 2? I'm really excited to experience the story as a whole before getting into 3. Popular Post gruffiiti
Wrapped up Lair of the Clockwork God last night. I had a handful of trophies left after my first playthrough and thought it wouldn't be a big deal as the game has chapter select. A few of them were super quick to get but I spent a bunch of time on a platforming section that was somewhat challenging as you had to get through the level without dying. I can't tell you how many times I made it 90% of the way through and then died to a mistimed jump or a random blip in the game that threw your timing off. It took me hours to finally get a clean run. Then I realized my last trophy required a complete new playthrough as it wouldn't pop using chapter select. So the next evening I started over and sped through the game as fast as I could making sure to do what I needed to do to unlock my final trophy. Wouldn't you know it, when I got to the challenging platforming section I struggled with I breezed through it flawlessly this time round. Makes me wonder if I wasted the evening before trying for it or was the practice what made me ace it this time round... Anyways, besides the need for me to do an extra playthrough (because I didn't look at the trophy list beforehand) I really liked this game. The writing was pretty good and at times quite hilarious and the way the two characters interacted with their genre of gaming skillz was something I haven't seen before. It was easily worth the few dollars I spent on it. Now to decide on what to tackle next... Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
Update 10 - Hope everyone managed to get through their week okay! The weekend is upon us though which is great! I finished everything I needed with The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope and made it my 193rd Platinum. I went from not really liking it during my first run through the story, to coming out the other end of multiple playthroughs really enjoying it. There is sort of a hidden story within the main story that can be hard to find if you don't deconstruct the events and information present in the game. I don't think you can get that entirely in one playthrough, so for me this is very much a case where going for the platinum actually enriches the game experience. I still think it isn't for everyone though and feels more like an acquired taste as far as game experience goes. I do have one criticism, which is the amount of playthroughs you need to get the 100%, even with guides it can take quite a few runs to achieve every consequential result the trophy list needs. I also started to work on Resident Evil 0, getting it ready for Platinum No. 200. At the moment i'm going through the game and getting used to the mechanics and a feel for the flow of the game. It looks like i'm going to need a few playthroughs here, but I don't mind. The pre-rendered fixed backgrounds are gorgeous and have a bit of a Resident Evil 8 castle vibe in term of aesthetic. One thing that is really taking some getting used to is the fact there technically isn't a traditional item box to store items. You have to rely on personal inventories and strategically dropping items for use later in specific locations. That's going to take some time to adjust to for me, i'm so used to having a shared item box in fixed locations. This weekend i'm going to be continuing the spooky game trend with more Resident Evil 0 and I'll be making a start on The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes which I can't wait to crack open tonight. Well I finished it kinda. I still need to do the no death speedrun which I've been putting off. I absolutely loved the game. What made it even better was the last DLC which tied it all togethet in a really nice way. If you like platformers, definitely do not skip this game! So next week I'll try and finish it off for the 100%. MISC My MISC section is taking over this challenge. Although both games I finished were below 50% when I started, I decided to not add them to my list of games for this challenge. Back in 2015 EA gave us a couple of free games in celebration of PlayStation's 20th anniversary. One of those games was Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. I have absolutely no reason or excuse why I went back to this game after six years, but somehow it clicked (again) I stormed through all the trophies I had left in a matter of days. I did have some help from my Alt account to get everything done so fast! I played it for about four days and then the Platinum popped Another platinum I wanted to get was Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2. I earned the platinum on the first game three years back, and finally decided now was a good time to go for it. The game itself was a noticable downgrade from the first one sadly. But on the bright side ,it only took 2 days. What's Next Honestly I dont know what I'll go for next. If it's challenge related or not. I think I can knock out MediEvil pretty quick, problem is I don't like the game. Same goes for some other titles on my list. Thats pretty much the main reason I put them on there to begin with. I already know that I will play Ratchet & Clank All for One sometime soon and I almost started a game called Damnation which I still might do. Anyway enough already. Thanks for reading update #6 and hopefully I'll have some more progress in update #7 Hope everyone is still having fun and getting stuff done! I just started my third run, then some miscellaneous trophies and should wrap it off before October is over and it leaves PSNow. After that I don't know, I've been playing a bit of Hitman 2 which is not on my list because I am sure I can get a 100% in the sniper maps and also because I play that one really slowly. Popular Post ArtisticGeek
Update #6 Well 3 more games done and against my better judgement I added Carrion to the list I didn’t expect it to come out yesterday but it fit perfectly for Halloween. And I can’t resist the idea of my 200th platinum being titled Apex Predator. At this point it’ll be a 50/50 chance to see if I reach my October goal, mainly will depend on if Little Hope gives me as many play throughs as Man of Medan did. Popular Post Heather342
Update 9 So I managed to finish up Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight fairly quickly. The requirements for the plat were very similar to Persona 4 Dancing, and if there's one thing that can be said for Persona games is that they do have awesome soundtracks. I've had the 'Burn My Dread' song stuck in my head all week ? I've also gone back to Alien Isolation, and just working my way through all the story missions. I'm on mission 14 now, mostly grabbing the unmissable story trophies and some misc ones for using the different weapons. I may have messed up the mission 14 no death trophy, stupid android grabbed me and killed me ? but I went back to reload previous save so I hope it doesn't count. No worries if not though, I still need to do a complete no death run through the whole game, and a hard mode run....not gonna lie I'm pretty nervous about it ? In other news, I managed to get back onto a PS5 console, and once again I'm distracted by the newness of PS5 games. I booted up Demon's Souls, and not long ago defeated the Phalanx demon but then got absolutely toasted by the dragon on the bridge ?. Undecided whether I should add this game to my challenge list as well, or if I may be over committing at this stage. I'll see how my list looks by the halfway point. Happy hunting everyone ? Trophy progress: - Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight - 54 -> 100% - Alien Isolation - 32 -> 52% (?) - Demon's Souls - 0 -> 1%
Popular Post Psy-Tychist
I'll remember to update this sometime... Assassin's Creed: Origins - 98% --> 100% Mine my Mind - 50% --> 96% Lone Survivor - 93% --> 100% Fez - 28% Word Search by POWGI - 26% Gravel - 30% Dissection - 11% White Night - 12% True Fear: Forsaken Souls - 94% --> 100% Completed the last trophy for Assassin's Creed Origins and also the last ending trophies for Lone Survivor. I enjoyed the shift in gameplay for AC with origins and Bayek was actually a fun and realistic protaganist. Will have to do Syndicate or Unity next. Lone Survivor is very much along the lines of a broken psychological horror with many hidden mechanics (you will see pages of what you did do at the end). Also upped my UR count by about 12 which helps. Mine my Mind, I have the platinum for, just need to perfect the DLC sheets and will be rid of the game. Should try White Night again, might need some pointers from a guide as I am a bit lost.
Popular Post RoastedPeanut
Update #9 Well thats Dragon Quest Builders done! That one was definitely sitting in my Vita backlog for far too long, but I did enjoy myself with it. Next sale I'll grab the second game. I also knocked out a large chunk of Ghosts 'n Goblins. I should have had more done but I forgot to do one hellhole and now it's started me on a 3rd playthrough cycle. I should still be done by the end of the month at least. I'm also going to switch out Gravity Rush for Atelier Ayesha Plus due to the PS+ issues with the Vita. I've also added a few more games to my list now that I'm back with my PS4. Popular Post skeggah
Hi! Umm, so I finished LEGO Jurassic World a little quicker than anticipated.. I enjoyed it very much, more than Avengers which I also had on this list. With this I have now finished every LEGO game in my possession, even the dreadful LEGO Worlds. I only have LEGO Rock Band and LEGO Legends of Chima left, but sadly do not own them. Does Santa deliver these games to 35-year old dudes? I will have to hope so! With this my gaming is coming to a bit of a break. I should probably focus on Legend of Kay whenever i come home to my consoles. I really did not feel this game when I first started it, but as I've popped a trophy it is perfect for this challenge. Smell ya later! Completed games! 1) Dark Cloud (PS4) 2) Altered Beast (PS3) 3) Brave (PS3) 4) Moving Out! (PS4) 5) Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PS4) 6) MediEvil (PS4) 7) Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride (PS4) 8) Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard (PS4) 9) Order Up!! Popular Post SicilianDragon92
Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate (Vita) 44% Dark Souls 2: SOTFS 38% > 44% Final Fantasy XIV (PS5) 27% > 28% > 35% Dishonored (PS3) 21% > 25% Tekken 7 0% > 62% Mad Max 17% > 24% Dishonored 2 14% Wasteland 3 10% Assassin’s Creed: Origins 20% > 32% > 67% Hades (PS5) 13% > 68% > 92% > 96% Echochrome (PS3) 14% Bully 0% > 49% > 100% Last Update was from three weeks ago so here is what I have done in the meantime, Bold are changes from the last update Blue are finished games and Purple are swaps. Starting with: 10. Hades (PS5) 13% > 68% > 92% > 96% As I mentioned in the last update I have really loved this game. So much so that I'm intending on making it my next milestone, which should be my 150th Platinum. I have one trophy left which is only grinding the last couple of keepsakes so I can finish this one whenever. It took a long time to get to this point but I can't say I have ever felt like I was slogging through, absolutely amazing value considering how cheap it was. Everyone should play this, it really is as good as the reviews suggest. Other than that, rather than focusing on any one game in the list I decided to chip away at a few till I know which one I want to concentrate on. I'll start with my first swap 5. Tekken 7 0% > 62% (Swap 1/5 for Mafia 3) Mafia 3 is a game I have long sought to finish but given I have quite a few long ones on the list I've decided to swap it out for another that has been occupying space on my console for a while. I'm not much good at fighting games but I have a nostalgic soft spot for tekken as it brings back memories of playing the original at a friend's house when I was a young teenager. Also it was released on PsNow and the trophy list didn't look very difficult. I decided to get the online trophies first since I am terrible and though it might take a while even though I only needed the one victory in each mode. Managed to button mash my way through the first two but can't seem to win a tournament match. I don't know if tournament players are just better or if it is because there seem to be fewer opportunities but so far that one eludes me. I'm sure I'll get lucky sooner or later, but for now that seems like the only problem trophy, the rest have come fairly easily and I haven't even started the story mode yet. Looking to finish this in the next week or so. 2. Dark Souls 2: SOTFS 38% > 44% I'm a bit of an apologist for DS2. It might be because I played it before DS1 but I've never found the critique it gets to be entirely fair. That said I'm still not sure about the SOTFS version, they fiddled around with the enemy placements a bit and it seems to me that all that happens is you get ambushed a lot more often. This makes it kind of frustrating especially when I no longer have the added motivation of seeing the next new area. I was in Dranglaic castle when I started again and have now got to the Shrine of Amana. It's an area I really hate and that kind of sucks my desire to carry on again. At some point I'm just going to bite the bullet and plough through, but might leave this again for a while. 3. Final Fantasy XIV (PS5) 27% > 28% > 35% Still chipping away at FFXIV. I am now into the post stormblood content and starting to hit the talent wall. I'm not usually one for MMOs and the main reason why is the feeling of letting other people down with my sub-par play. The next dungeon in the MSQ is the burn and I'm dreading it a bit because it seems like a difficult time for healers. That said I have only come across one unnecessarily rude player so far out of very very many, so really impressed with how supportive and patient the community is. Just need to pluck up the courage to take on the mist dragon now. 4. Dishonored (PS3) 21% > 25% Dishonored is another game that I have long wanted to finish properly. I did a high chaos run a long time ago to the finish, but rather than trying for lo chaos this time I though a better plan would be to go for all collectibles and the no upgrades playthrough first before trying for the extreme stealth route. have redone up to mission 4 so far and hope to continue soon. 6. Mad Max 17% > 24% Moment to moment the gameplay of mad max is very entertaining, and I think it is fair to say that it has been criminally underrated. The trophy list is a bit of a pig though, and it does suffer a bit from "ubisoft sandbox syndrome" where the devs seemingly just had a vast map and covered it in quite fun but also quite repetitive tasks. Word to the wise if anyone fancies starting this from scratch, the platinum is now unobtainable for anyone starting from the beginning as the servers have been deactivated and that does affect one of the trophies. As far as I know I have already completed the tasks that are now impossible so I think I should still be able to finish it 100%, I haven't looked into it very deeply though. 9. Assassin’s Creed: Origins 20% > 32% > 67% If any single game after Hades has been my main focus then this would be it. Managed to get through the wall and finish the story and then found out that having the DLC means being able to boost your character straight to level 45, which is helping a lot with the post game cleanup. I think I've decided that while I still like the game, I really hate the levelling system. It makes any mission above around 4 levels over yours completely impossible, and 3-4 levels below completely trivial. Stealth, which really should be a main focus in an AC game, is either quite pointless because you can't stealth kill anyone without getting into a fight you can't win, or completely pointless because it's so much quicker just to run in to a low level fort waving your sword around and slash everything into a million pieces. It really ruins the game for me. I have AC Odyssey already and plan to finish it (toying with the idea of swapping it in here TBH) but if it's the same there then that might be the last AC game I ever purchase. That's my update anyway. Going to attempt to finish Tekken and AC origins this week and then have a think about which of the rest of my list I fancy having a crack at. Popular Post StilRh
Hi guys. Hope you had a good week. This week I've spent time with The Riftbreaker, a really fun survival-RTS that controls very well on a console. I feel I'm towards the end of the campaign, however I'm still trying to farm a few items for one of the trophies so I won't do this straight away. My other main game experience has been platinuming Tales of Iron. It was very cute visually but I found strictly average action/RPG-lite from a gameplay perspectice. I added a few extra games for Halloween. Corpse Party and Visage, both I've heard plenty of positive things about these. I'm only a few hours into them but I am having fun so far. In the upcoming week I hope to finish my Halloween games and continue to work through Muv Luv: Alternate. Have a great week all! Edit - Yeah I tried to progress in Judgement but it says the game is unavailable. I'm starting to think this is around liscences. When I brought the PS5 version (it defaulted to this as I bought it from the console itself) and it seemed to let me continue to play the PS Now version. If I had known about this issue I would have immediately contacted PSN for a refund and swapped for the PS4 version. I'll check again later on in the challenge if I can access this or not. If I can't I'll just wait until the next sale on the PS4 version. So for now I've stopped this game. Popular Post damcrac5
Been a bit, but I should update as I've gotten a more holistic approach to this event. I need to clarify/cleen-up my additions and swaps. I'll use the additions for games that I owned previously to the event starting, and swaps for games that became backlog after the start of the event. I've decided to remove Minecraft from my completions as I used a trophy world, and while completing it counts for the event, it didn't feel right to have it on my list that way. So I've actually gone as far as hiding the list from sharing despite both it and list 2 are 100%. That being said, trying to stay true to the event, I've used my 2nd swap in completing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart! The game is amazing to watch, especially on Performance RT. I tried the special fidelity mode that leverages a TV with a 120hz panel, but even the drop to 40 FPS was very noticeable. I had to work hard to see differences in the environment standing still, so I'm sure it had no effect on my actual gameplay. 60FPS is what I've gotten used to and notice anything that isn't. (I'm looking at you Kena cut scenes). Short game, getting the plat in around 10-11 hours, but it was enjoyable. Not sure I'd recommend paying full price for the game unless you are a Ratchet & Clank fan(which case you probably already purchased/plat'd the game), but if you can find it for $30, it would be a solid buy(I borrowed mine from my local library). I've had some fun with the R&C games I've played so far, but they haven't quiet lived up to the hype I've seen people give them. I understand I am playing PS2 ports, but I was hoping they'd be a game I couldn't put the control down for, like Demon's Souls. So Rift Apart will not be joining my physical collections because it just didn't keep me sucked in. So far I've had two for PS5. Demon's Souls and Kena. I'm on the waitlist for Deathloop at my local library, maybe that or Returnal will become my next physical copy purchase for PS5. For now, I will try to clean up R&C 2 that I started probably a month ago and got distracted by Demon's Souls. Get my completion percentage back above 95%. Got the Platinum for PGA Tour 2K21 today after starting it early. Haven't owned a golf game since one of the early 2000's Tiger Woods. Did find the lack of cut scenes other than the what going on at other holes. You spend all the time to win the tournaments in Career mode and the do not even bother to animate you being awarded the what ever cups/trophies, etc. it was really anticlimactic. My 4 Year old daughter and I have been playing the Spirit game, but we have made no progress on the trophies. She just wants to ride round the fields on Spirit and is content with that, and I am content just to spend some time with her and let her play. Turned my attention back to Final Fantasy XII, managed to acquire a few more pf the bronze trophies. Nearing the end of the story portion of the game with over half the trophies, but not a single silver or gold. This has to be one of my least efficient hunts in terms of hours put in to trophies rewarded. And I am including games where one of the trophies was literally play for 100 hours.
