WOW do you know how I felt then? Exactly the same as I do now, nothing. Well actually I do feel something, it was nice seeing Metal Slug's banner again, great memories playing Metal Slug 1 to 6. Back before we had Ladies in a Pink Leotard with a gun and shit like that spamming the new games section. Each to their own I guess. Maybe it seems worth it to you now. Maybe in a year when you have had to spend a few bucks 50-100 times, you might start to change your mind. Some use the sessions to organised boosting, or share-play, or co-op games, or just to coordinate multiplayer games. Some use the site to generate trophy cards, or to better organise and view their trophies. Some like to use the "fastest" boards to compete in "trophy Speedruns", or use the "series" function to see how many games in each series they can do. Some use the site to view interesting statistics, or milestones, and see interesting data about their gaming hobby. Some use the forums to discuss games, find out about similar games, or hidden gems, to shoot the shit with other gamers or seek out tips or tricks or strategies for tough games. Some get gaming news on here, via the members who are most tuned into the industry, and tend to bring big news here very quickly, for an interesting discussion. Some have checklists where they review games, or follow each other's progress in games, or use them as ways to see what games they might like that they hadn't considered before, and keep up with friends that way. Some join in community events for friendly competition, or to discover new genres, or even to support charities or good causes through our collective hobby - through trophy bingo, or A-Z Trophy lists, or Ultra Rare hunting competitions, or any of the many special events the site houses. The only thing the leaderboard is good for is showing integrity (not having cheated games). Many people here care little about their rank placement because it is a race to the bottom. At first I was sad about it and bought an easy one just to compensate my disappointment, but now I just ignore the leaderboard and I completely stopped buying this. Nah, for me they don't even play in the same league as me or others (that sounds more arrogant that I want it to sound). These type of gamers barely participate in discussion of threads, help boosting or provide tips. These "gamers" do not exist within that hobby. At least for me. So it is easy to ignore that and their high platinum count. The site being filled up with garbage however is another problem. Even though the situation is completely out of control on the PS4 and PS5, at the end of the day a good profile is always nice to scroll through. I've always been more interested in the rarity leaderboard as it allows you to play whatever is to your liking and still be ranked fairly high even though having relatively few games played.
