I hate leaving games under 100%, but the main game has me questioning if I should go for it. It is more of the same. The characters all have (slightly) different play/fighting styles but the stories felt like filler episodes. And there is the grind to get enough exp. to buy all skills after the ending of each DLC story. I would say, if you interested in buying the DLC, wait for a sale, it is not worth the full price.

Thank you so much for your response! I noticed the DLCs are on sale for 15 euros all together. It's better than 30 euros, but I still think it's a lot haha. And I'm definitely not looking forward to exp grinding. I might to think it over for a bit longer. I appreciate the information you shared! Popular Post Moridin83
#231 Far Cry 6 I liked this one better than Far Cry 5 and New Dawn for what that's worth. It's nothing new or revolutionary on the established formula, but if you're looking for a brain dead Ubi title when you want some uncomplicated gaming, this will do the trick. I enjoyed the companions, and while the story was no great shakes, at least I wasn't being tranked out of a helicopter for "Story reasons". The plat is not bad, although in 2022, it will take at minimum 14 days after you finish the story, since the insurgency glitches have all been patched. The spec ops are ok, but I'd highly recommend putting them on story difficulty to reduce frustration. 1 spec op left, then time to start the season pass content!

RedRodriguez87
2022 PS4 #418: King Of The Diamond! I think this may be my very first baseball Platinum that I have ever owned! One of those instances where the Platinum drew me to the game, and I'm glad it did, as I did have fun. While I still prefer the Arcadey takes on sports (like MLB Slugfest), there are plenty of options to streamline the experience and not get so bogged down with details. Not that the complicated feel of this game is really a negative; I'm sure that's what the fans of sports games in general expect. I also like to think I learned a little bit more about the sport, Or at least I won't be as confused when people talk about it.

Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#625 - Ikai (PS5) Passable at best. Not really scary and more a walking sim, the excessive pointless walking. Popular Post Darghel
#158 Monark Master (Monark). Difficulty: starts hard but becomes terribly easy, almost broken Time to Complete: about 59 hours Recommended: Sure, the grind is not terrible Total score: 7.5/10 Been a while since I posted here, it was quite a rough year over here, as well as being sluggish with my trophies. Anyway since I'm nearing my 160th I decided to post once again for funzies. And this time it's Monark, a game I've been keeping my eye for a while, especially when I really enjoyed their previous game, Lost Dimensions. Is Monark any good though? Well the short answer is yes. The long answer is "yes...BUT it has some problems" First and foremost, the usual stuff that everyone hates: if the MC dies it's game over. You have no idea how many game overs I had because of that. Most of my team is stronger than the MC by a long shot (my fiends had stats in the 800s, and one of the main characters had 900s!), but not the MC! He's in the average of 500-600, meaning that he's not strong physically nor magically...but he's the only one who can resonate, meaning that you can share buffs and moves among all your characters. The resonance is a great idea - it reminds me of Lost Dimension cubes - and on paper it's definitely working as it intended...but the problem is when the MC dies all the bloody time because you push him further to resonance, and he gets Death Coiled and instakilled, making your 10-20 boss fight a complete waste (yeah that actually happened. More than once). I GET IT, he's the King in chess, and if he dies it's check mate, therefore game over, I GET IT, but can he PLEASE not suck that his own pieces?! Literally EVERYONE is stronger than him, and the ONLY thing that he brings to the table is higher spirit drops, higher drop rates, and resonance. That's about it! Oh yeah, drop rates: gear is dropped from enemies. But there's a trick: only fiends can equip gear, meaning that they can be automatically stronger the moment you give them better gear. And they are! Not even few hours in my fiends had gear that gave over 100 in PSY and my Lust Fiend, who's basically the magician, could 1-2 shot enemies. Later on enemies get stronger and that won't work...and then Resonance comes in, and suddenly I can 1-2 shot BOSSES! Yeah, this game is not exactly well balanced: even the true end boss took me 2 "Fireballs" to defeat him. Get mass resonance with 5+ stacks of PSY, get Hot Swap, and BOOM goes the final boss. Seriously, I was doing 5000 damage per shot! And if not It was still high enough. So yeah, this game isn't exactly balanced, but I'm wondering if it's intended. To be fair it starts out balanced enough, and even at max level bosses can still 1 shot you or nearly kill you in one hit if you're unlucky (unless you play Casual Mode), and since resonance is limited to one character at first you don't have a lot of options, especially if you don't start with Lust. But then it just becomes broken! It is fun at least and it takes some figuring out, but once you do...well you're kinda done and you can finish a fight in few turns. Heck during one boss fight I literally teleported her near me and practically destroyed her in one shot...but because all fights require to kill all enemies it means that I had to continue fight until the end. And certain enemies don't even spawn until you're close, making the fight longer than it should. Anyway, fight is kinda broken, but it's the fun kind of broken: what about the story? Uhm...not bad I guess, but it could've been better. The main issue I had is that the first part of the story is very linear: go here, destroy the Monark, do it 4 times with different characters, all of which are barely developed, and move on. After defeating one specific Monark the story changes a little and suddenly you're given paths to choose. This is where the story becomes more interesting and also kind of a drag, because you'll have to do this with all 4 characters...and they're all the same thing, with almost the same bosses. The story changes slightly but it's still a drag considering you'll have to do this 4 times, but at the very least you get to know the characters better. Wish I could know them better before though! But to be fair, it always kept me curious on what was going to happen: sure the "surprise villain" was kind of unnecessary but I was unsure how things would go at certain points. It wasn't easy to know what was going to happen and I like that in a story. And the end is...decent, but kind of anticlimactic if you ask me. Sorry for wall of text, but bottom line: Monark is a decent game, with a decent combat (and some good music too, but it's hard to listen during combat), but it feels like it's trying to be Caligula Effect but without the empathy for the characters and villains, resulting in either disliking, not caring, or simply forgetting the characters. Some are slightly better, like Kokoro or Ryotaro and even Shinya has some good moments - but it's very toned down and not as "focused" as Caligula Effect. If you can get it on discount, I recommend checking it out. It won't blow your mind but it will be an enjoyable 50-60 hours. And since it had no real missable then it's even better!
Popular Post JoaLoft
#300 - The Last of Us Part I This next game doesn't need any introduction. It's a pop culture phenomenon with a few critically acclaimed games out and an HBO show on the horizon. And I saved this one especially for my special 300-platinum-trophies mark: The Last of Us Part I. Everyone has played it by now, so you all know what the story revolves around. It features survivors Joel and Ellie crossing the USA in an apocalyptic scenario, in an effort to develop a vaccine to stop the Cordyceps infection. The story has them encountering different survivors and groups, each with their own motives, and the ordeal they're going through and the connection that Joel and Ellie build up along the way is the focal point of the experience. So, how does this remake for PlayStation 5 mix things up? It's a 1:1 remake first of all: there are no level design changes, and no new gameplay mechanics brought in from The Last of Us Part II. This is a huge missed opportunity, because new gameplay mechanics could've opened up a few new avenues of strategy. Going prone and being able to hide in the grass or under furniture for instance would have provided the same visceral combat that the sequel features. However, the original game was pretty much perfect to begin with, so presumably Naughty Dog didn't want to change their winning formula and leave things unaltered on this level. What has changed then in this definitive edition? The visuals: pretty much everything has been overhauled and looks superior to the first game, including impressive facial details in the new cutscenes. Areas are more detailed with new objects and more foliage, loading screens are basically non-existent in this game, so cutscenes transition immediately into gameplay. Execution animations are now present as well when the remaining enemy in an area yields and begs for his life. This was not present in the older version, I believe. And the weapon upgrade animations at workbenches look pretty cool too. Visually, it is the definitive version of The Last of Us. Multiplayer has been scrapped from this version, to invest all focus on the The Last of Us 2 multiplayer game coming out in the near future. On the other hand, the package does include Left Behind, the prequel expansion which focuses on Ellie and her best friend Riley. One thing I will commend them on, is the wide variety of accessibility options. Gamers who are blind or suffer from low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, have a physical or mobility disability, suffer from motion sickness, are color blind, and so on: anyone and everyone can play this game, which is very impressive. The new technology of the PS5 assists in this matter even: the DualSense can rumble at specific intervals to indicate what is happening to players, and simple animations such as hand gestures indicate there's a conversation taking place between characters, cinematic descriptions during cutscenes explain to blind players what is happening on-screen, there are navigational assist options, traversal audio cues, loads of HUD options and other visual aids, combat accessibility options ... I am blown away by how far this pushes boundaries and opens up the game to a whole new group of players. The Last of Us Part I, still being an amazing game and a timeless classic, would get a firm recommendation from me. If it wasn't for one thing... The egregious price tag of $70/€80. To ask full price for a remake that does not include new gameplay mechanics, strips the multiplayer and is essentially the third release of the same game, is an embarrassing business approach. Even with all the accessibility options, which is great for players who suffer from a disability. Even then, it's a slap in the face of consumers in general; not even Rockstar Games had the gall to ask for such a high price when they re-released GTA V on new consoles this year. My advice? Get the game, but only once a price cut of at least 50% is installed. The game is still virtually exactly the same experience, so if you had your fill of The Last of Us 1, you don't need to own this. If you do want to relive the epic journey of Joel and Ellie with modern visuals, you have my blessing to pick this up and enjoy this masterpiece all over again. Just not at full price. Most frustrating trophy - ... NONE! All the difficulty levels of the original version are present here too, but no trophies require you to finish the game on higher difficulty levels. And since there is no multiplayer present either, all you need to do, is get all the collectibles and optional conversations, listen to all the puns, upgrade your stats and weapons and finish the game and the expansion. There are some very simple miscellaneous trophies present too, but this platinum trophy is a cakewalk compared to the original trophy list and as such, there are no frustrating trophies present in The Last of Us Part I.
