Just a little update. I'm almost done with Skyrim VR, just have the Dawnguard DLC left which should be done in 2-3 days, depends how in the mood I am to grind to level 78. I figured i'd keep my first list nice and somewhat easy and progressively make them harder, so i'm going to make a few changes:

Achieved my second UR plat. Holy Potatoes was an easy game that's simply niche and an RNG fest so that's why the platinum is UR. The guide posted on the forums here and using backup saves was enough to make it simple. All the pop culture references were also lost on me and for the story I simply skipped everything.

 

Updates:

Star Ocean 3 - Completed everything besides 80% battle trophies and Universe/4D difficulty. Currently sitting at 230/240 of the battle trophies that are needed. I'm going to do the harder difficulties first for the battle trophies I'll attain naturally for those then load up my Galaxy save to get the rest. My save is currently sitting at 170+ hours.

Yakuza - I didn't magically gain 75% trophies. I always had them since the event started my list simply didn't load them (same for Tokyo 42)

Penny-Punching Princess - Currently at 2.4m/10m. If I play it during lunch at work each day I can get about 200k making that 1m a week.

LittleBigPlanet 3 - I got all the creation and online trophies out of the way and finished the first world.

 

Unrelated but I also finally surpassed 10k trophies obtained and I'm proud of my milestones.

Funny you mention it. Back in 2021 I stopped playing exactly because of that reason .. I thought. I finished the game yesterday, collectibles aren't really that bad, after getting used to the in-game map and the interactive map on the web. But holy damn, this game surely had an enormous impact emotionally on me. Simply put, one of the best games I've played. It is a passion project and you can literally feel it. Though I think it also highly depends on each individual playing the game. I am going to explain it more in my review once I am done with the game, if you are interested in it.

Did a play through on casual to clean up the collectibles and other miscellaneous combat and stage trophies. Nothing too hard there. Then I moved on to the tactical challenges. Challenge 1 & 2 were easy enough, did both on the first try. Challenge 3 took two tries only, mainly because I for some reason just could not find the rocket launcher on my first attempt. Was feeling pretty good, thinking maybe this won't be so bad. Challenge 4 quickly showed me how wrong I was.

 

Wave 1 of challenge 4 is not bad, wave 2 is brutal though, so many enemies spawn and if you don't take most of them out immediately they will spread out and you will be overwhelmed. Wave 5 is equally brutal, with the area being super tight and a ton of enemies you have no room for error. Gonna be beating my head against this for a while I think.

TIER 1 - COMPLETION 1

 

 

Sonic Transformed marks my first Sonic game since Sonic R way back in the early 2000s. I was in the mood to revisit the series in 2020 and decided to pick up the PS3 version of this game. It was an excellent choice, as I enjoyed it a lot and made the platinum my 22,000th trophy. I subsequently bought the Vita version to stack it, and here I am with my 600th platinum! The Vita version is a great port and well worth playing; however, some technical issues such as framerate drops and crashes keep it from being an excellent one. Also, the Vita's small analog stick meant that weapons would occasionally be fired the wrong way. I still had a lot of fun with it, though.

 

The road to platinum is divided into several parts:

• World Tour: You're required to obtain all 232 stars in this mode, i.e. beat every World Tour event on Expert difficulty. However, that difficulty is only unlocked after completing the first 5 tours or all 10 Grand Prix tournaments on any other difficulty (Easy, Medium, or Hard). There are many types of events with varying objectives, such as racing without any weapons, destroying a tank, beating the clock, avoiding traffic, and so on. Things can get quite challenging here as each type has some difficult events, but it's not too crazy.
• Grand Prix: This mode features a series of 10 tournaments. The first 5 tournaments are unlocked in the beginning, whereas the last 5 - mirrored versions of the first 5 - are unlocked once you beat the first 5 on any difficulty. This mode was actually fairly easy even on Expert difficulty, as you need to finish first in every tournament (as in your overall position at the end of the tournament and not every race). You don't have to win every single race and the A.I. tends to alternate finishing positions after each race quite a bit, so there's a decent amount of leeway here in case you don't finish a certain race in first position.
• Time Attack: The other challenging part, you have to beat all the Staff Ghosts... unless you do the Yokozuna glitch. While it was patched and you need the DLC in the PS3 version, neither is the case in the Vita version. Basically, this glitch allows you to get the trophy after beating one specific Expert Ghost, thus giving you some breathing room and letting you pick the easier Expert Ghosts for your Triple Star License.
• Miscellaneous Trophies: These trophies vary in requirements and difficulty, but most of them are easy and come naturally (although a few are a bit luck-based, as they require a certain weapon). The hardest one to do against the A.I. is Justice Shot, but you can always boost it if need be. And speaking of boosting...
• Online Trophies: Thankfully, there are only a few of those and they don't take long to finish. The only notable one is Team Sonic, which requires a total of 5 players. What the trophy description doesn't mention though is that you also have to win the race.
• Triple-Star License: This trophy requires you to reach 100% completion (out of 110%). You'll definitely be very close after completing the above list, and the one thing not mentioned here is mod grinding, which you'll need to do by replaying events to earn XP and unlock most of the character mods.

All in all, a fun and challenging kart racing platinum to go for. Highly recommended, especially if you're familiar with those SEGA characters!

I've also been playing Action Henk on the side. Progress has been slow but steady so far. I've obtained all the Gold Medals and beaten all the challenges and bonus levels in the first 9 worlds, but I'm not delving into the last world just yet. It does sound "insane" like what its difficulty says and I know I need to master all the advanced mechanics for it, so I feel like it's a better idea to go back to those 9 worlds and get all the Rainbow Medals there before finally going for the last one, as that should serve as great practice. I've obtained all the Rainbow Medals in the first 2 worlds so far. They were fairly easy, but I expect the difficulty to eventually ramp up. I'm looking forward to the challenge, though! This game reminds me a lot of TrackMania Turbo in that it's fast and furious with a very similar learning curve and difficulty level.

 

My first objective when I started this game was to get The 1% as soon as possible. That trophy requires you to beat 99% of all players in any level, which I ended up doing on Gabber Betsy's Bonus. It was fairly easy after following a World Record run on YouTube and replicating the same moves as well as I could, and I ended up with this run. That said, there are still plenty of opportunities to get that trophy, especially if you're going for the 100%. The other miscellaneous trophy is for "jumping over the barrier" with your hookshot in a specific level, which was easy and only took a few attempts. There are also a couple of trophies for falling into the lava and dying 100 times. But yeah, the biggest focus of this game's trophy list is certainly getting all the Rainbow Medals.

Also, I'd like to swap Naughty Bear for Downwell if there's no issue with that. I'm just not ready for all that naughtiness yet. ? I've actually been playing the latter and am going for the platinum. Normal Mode is done and all miscellaneous trophies have been obtained. Normal Mode wasn't too bad, but I feel like Hard Mode will be quite the challenge. The game is fun, though!

Juhu i finished another UR game. Quantum Conundrum is a nice first person puzzle game which i played almost 10 years ago on pc and only two weeks ago decided to get it on ps3. I was since long scared about the low trophy completion of the game but after reading some guides for tips and strategies i decided i'll it. Surprisingly i also found an exploit for which i completed all levels much easier for the speedrun trophies (base game, dlc 1 and dlc 2). The dlc levels were new for me and gave me some trouble even solving all puzzles at all. Vat Chance especially. I'm really happy i played this game again

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was unfortunately overlooked because of, arguably, the worst MP from the entire franchise.

• Multiplayer: The worst in the franchise, and that's not just my opinion, it's a common sense in the community (either IW, AW or Ghosts). Thankfully, there's only 1 trophy for the MP, that I got when I wasn't a trophy hunter, nowdays it's glitched and one of my friends had to find someone from Japan to get it.
• Campaign: Usually I don't play COD for the campaign, but there was a point that the game got my attention and kept till the end, It ended up being in my top 5 (don't want to spoil anything in here). Trophy wise, the same as always, finish on veteran and a few missables here and there.
• Zombies: The community has a bad habit of not give attention in the mode unless it's from Treyarch, IW Zombies is (some will call me crazy) the best in the entire franchise. Everything is on point... the art style, the creativity, the soundtrack, the gameplay, everything. Easter eggs are hard as fuck, especially with the game trying to balance them according to the number of players, thankfully there're a shit ton of glitches to abuse and make everything easier.

If DRG allows me, I'll probably finish Black Ops Declassified until the weekend.

Having played all Zombie/Alien modes (older ones on X360) I can wholeheartly agree. I had the most fun in IW Zombies. GJ on the 100% ?

Downwell is a game where you... go down a well. Yes, for real. It's not just any well, though... ohhh no. This well is quite special, actually. I mean, have you ever heard of a well that contains frogs, ghosts, squid, and stuff - among other oddities? There you have it. Who knew exploring your local park's well would entail such an unorthodox and challenging adventure? Well, I did... because I read the words "Devolver Digital" and immediately knew what to expect. Strap on your gunboots, you're in for an intense ride!

 

There are 2 modes in this game: Normal Mode and Hard Mode, with the latter unlocked upon beating the former. Since this game is a roguelite, dying resets you back to the very top of the well, but the good news is that the game itself is very short. Normal Mode wasn't too bad, but Hard Mode was a tough beast to conquer. There are more enemies and they appear earlier than they do in Normal Mode, shop items are more expensive, each world changes a certain element, and the boss is tougher. This thread has some very useful tips for Hard Mode. I ended up using Arm Spin Style and got the Knife & Fork upgrade on my successful run. All that extra HP you can get from consuming dead enemies helped a lot!

 

If you've played and enjoyed other challenging games that were published by Devolver Digital (like Hotline Miami, Titan Souls, etc.) then this game should be right up your alley and you will most likely enjoy it as well. I know I did!

I've been making more progress in Action Henk as well and thought I'd make another progress update on it. I'm currently halfway through the Rainbow Medals and so far, so good. I'm using BadBlackShark's videos as a reference and I gotta say, his runs and tips have been very helpful. I also appreciate that he slows his replays down and explains what he's doing and where/how exactly to perform each action.

 

As for my own experience, the difficulty hasn't been entirely consistent, as I've encountered the occasional jump in difficulty with a few Rainbow Medals. For example, the very first Rainbow Medal is one of the hardest ones in the first 5 worlds. It's very strict and there's barely anything you can do to improve your time. A few Rainbow Medals were a little challenging due to a certain tricky part or a certain skip. Indeed, certain levels feature skips that you can perform in order to gain a significant advantage over the Rainbow Ghost. They tend to require practice to pull off, though. Other levels feature the Rainbow Ghost taking the slower path in a multipath scenario, thus giving you a little breathing room in case you mess up a bit. So yeah, it depends on each level. The levels featuring the hookshot are among the trickiest, as the swinging mechanics can take a little while to get used to. That said, while the Rainbow Medals haven't gotten to the point where they get really challenging yet, I'm sure the last few worlds will change that, and I look forward to what will hopefully be a good challenge.

Managed to get the platinum in Quantum Theory a few days ago. While hardly a great game, it really wasn't the hot pile of garbage I was expecting it to be. I thought it was actually a fairly okayish sci-fi third-person shooter. The setting in which the main campaign takes place kinda kept my attention all the way until the end and while its art style is a bit...uh...ghastly at times, it eventually manages to establish itself on you. The one thing that totally sucked ass about it was the online trophies. Gosh, it had so much grinding. That and multiple people were required for it. Even though some of the members of our boosting session ended up pretty much ditching us, I'm grateful to the other gamers that were nice enough to stick by all the way to the end to help everyone get their trophies. This is how online boosting sessions are supposed to be, people. Help others if you want to be helped as well, and don't be a dick.

 

Anyways, I'll write my complete thoughts about the game on a status update tomorrow or over the weekend. I actually finished this like 4 days ago but work has been keeping me busy over the last few days.

 

 

The next games I'm going to be focusing on are BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend and NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed, in that order.

I got pending business with BBCSE, so I'll be allocating most of my time to finish that one next.

I'm also going to be swapping at least 3 games from my list in the coming days but I haven't decided yet on which titles I'll be swapping them with, so yeah.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

 

I had my eyes upon this game since it was released, mainly because of Playstation Access and their videos about VR. Moreover it is a genre I did not have on my profile by then and I always aim for a diverse profile, trying out new things. That being said, I did not play the VR mode at all, because I dont have it, furthermore it is a genre I probably won't come back any time soon.

 

First things first. Multiplayer trophies. Easy to boost with 4 consoles, only takes a couple hours and not much effort required other than staying awake.  

Thanks to @Exhuman1988 for joining me and having much fun overall while going for the platinum.

 

The rest of the trophies are SP only. You need to finish the campaign on all four difficulties (very easy excluded) since they dont stack. Not a big deal because while doing the 4 playthroughs you automatically work on other trophies as well. I started with Easy to get used to it, continued with Normal while doing the "hidden" Ace Pilots which there are 20 in total and all require specific tasks to complete for them to show up during a mission, for example fly through the tunnel or destroy all oil plants in 5 minutes. After that I headed straight to Hard and rushed through it, being pretty confident in my flying skills. On Ace you need to earn an S-Rank on all 20 missions. This sounds more daunting than it really is. After 3 playthroughs I knew all levels by heart and only two levels took more than one try to get the S-Rank.

 

By now it would have been lovely to have the platinum trophy, unfortunately though it required another 4 playthroughs on Ace for accumulating 45 million MRP, the games currency. I dont understand why, because after roughly 35 million there is nothing you can use MRP on anymore. Worth noting, the second DLC mission (which I dont own) makes grinding MRP a bit faster, ~700k in 20 minutes instead of 3-4 hour campaign playthrough worth 5 million.

 

Only trophy left is fly 76.500km. Rubberbanding in free flight takes care of it, unfortunately it only lasts 30 minutes until you have to restart, so I had the weirdest night of falling asleep, waking up, restarting, falling asleep again, and so on.

 

Overall a fun experience, though way too long for the platinum, only made bearable because of Exhuman and the memes we created along the way. Cheers brother Librarian! ?

 

 

Hustle King

 

I am a Hustler Baby .. having heard this for the last 30 days, it kinda sticks with you. I almost said everything about the game already back in a previous post, but here a quick summary.

 

The 10 million HKC grind with @Koro249 was very efficient. We both used our PS4 and PS5 and were done in roughly 4-5 hours. Thanks to @Miles we were able to knock out the 8 player trophy as well rather quickly. Then completing the main "campaign", which was a breeze with special items, just like the Trickshots, Puzzle Games and Special Games. Then boost 100 wins in different modes with a second console and lastly knock out some Snooker trophies, with making a 147 break being a nice challenge and the most fun I had with game.

 

The 30 daily challenges were also really easy with the usage of special items. Overall easy UR trophies that have no business being that ultra rare.

 

@Baker convinced me to play Pure Pool with him, which is made by the same developers. This one might be tougher though and I've already read some horror stories about the "fair" AI.

This one will be a project stretched over a longer period though.

 

 

Hyper Light Drifter

 

What a wonderful game.

 

"Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action role-playing game developed by Heart Machine. The game pays homage to 8-bit and 16-bit games, and is considered by its lead developer Alx Preston as a combination of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Diablo."

 

You play as the drifter travelling to a foreign land to seek out a cure for his disease. You arrive in a town, equipped with a sword, pistol and a dash ability. Your goal is to travel to all four directions, East, South, West and North to defeat its boss and activate a large power structure that powers an elevator in the town which also acts as the main hub.

 

Each area has its own colour palette, enemy types and enviromental hazards. There are collectibles scattered around the world, Gearbytes, which act as currency for upgrades. Collect four to gain one coin. Upgrades can range from a 3-dash ability to bullet reflection with your sword, acquiring a bomb, upgrade ammunation for your guns or the amount of healthpacks you can hold at a time. Keys that are used to open locked doors to areas that contain more collectibles. Outfits that grant you benefits like more health (tbh this mechanic was rather unclear to me in how it was not explained to you at all). Monoliths that give you more story bits in a language that is probably deciphered by people on the internet. Modules that are smaller power structures that gain you access to doors that require x-amount of Modules found in their respective area. Besides the large power structer, 4 Modules are also needed in each area for the elevator in the main hub. Guns, which there are 6 in total, ranging from Pistol to Shotgun to Laser Rifle.

 

One of the best parts about this game is how it does not explain every little thing to you, the tutorial area is designed in such a beautiful way that it lets you figure out each obstacle yourself while not being confusing or puzzling. It shows you what to pay attention to, how to spot hidden ways and areas which will reward you plenty during your journey through each area. In Hyper Light Drifter not a single word is spoken. Everything is conveyed either by visuals or by sound. I love it.

 

When you first wake up in town, you can go in any direction. Yes just like in Dark Souls 1 and Firelink Shrine.  Some ways might be blocked off, showing arrows in one of four directions, indicating you should go there first. Subtle hints.

 

The combat is simple yet so satisfying. Button mashing wont make it here though. I might be wrong but it always felt like there was a rhythm in how to fight. Sometimes the Drifter simply would not dash because I was not tapping in rhythm. It is hard to explain but once you play it yourself, you will understand.

 

Trophy-wise the game does a fantastic job. The platinum requires everything the game has to offer to you. A normal playthrough (while collecting everything, nothing is missable), a new game+ which is your typical NG+ mode but you only have 2HP instead of 6HP. Lastly a no-death run. There are also 3 DLC trophies, which are at no cost. These are boss rushes with full loadout, half loadout and bare minimum loadout. It is a nice challenge and good preparation for the no-death run.

 

Lastly I want to talk about the music and also want to use this as a transition to why Hyper Light Drifter is one of my favourite games of all time. It will also contain spoilers ("experience spoilers more than story spoilers") which I highly advise not to read before playing the game yourself. I want to emphazise that my experience with the game might differ vastly with the experience you'll have, please bear that in mind.

Before I talk about the music, I need to adress a few things first. I am going to talk about things I usually would never discuss on PSNP due to how private those issues are but I make an exception for this game.

 

All I knew about the game back then was:

• It is a love-letter to older generations of games
• It is one of @Arcesius's most beloved games
• The lead developer Alx Preston has cancer

Now back in March 2021 I was in rough place, dealing with depression and a lack of purpose. On top of that a close family member suffered from cancer and while I have not the best relationship with that person, it still made me sick to my stomach how cancer can destroy a human being.

 

When I started playing HLD, knowing that the lead dev suffers from an incurable disease, I could literally feel how he feels/felt and thus being able to somewhat understand how my family member must feel. These emotions were conveyed through world design but mostly through the music. It ranged from despair to a glimmer of hope, from depression to a brief moment of relief. I simply cant do it justice with words.

 

I started with area North, which in my opinion is "medium" on the hopelessness scale. You can feel something is wrong but you still have hope, you still think everything is going to be alright as long as you stick to it. Then I went West...

 

West is by far the most depressing area. The music drained me so much mentally. Furthermore the area is definitely on the more difficult side, having a variety of enemies that can be hard to deal with when being an emotional wreck and not being able to focus. It also has the most difficult boss in the game in my opinion. It took me hours to beat him back then.

 

Now, if I had continue, going East (South is not available at this point) I would have been greeted by a far more welcoming and brighter area. But I simply couldnt. The game was too much for me at this point. So I stopped and I always put it off by saying "the collectibles" are too much off a hassle, I cant deal with that right now.

 

But when I went back for it, realizing how much easier the collectibles actually are, I knew I was lying to myself. My mindset was much better in the past few weeks, than a year ago and I also felt rather well than depressed and the game itself didnt take that much of a toll on me anymore than it did back then.

 

Until I beat the final boss and the final cutscene and this played. I lost it.

Now, Alx Preston does not have cancer, he has an incurable heart disease and I had a wrong memory about it when I played HLD back in 2021. I rewatched the video I had watched many years ago and realized that. It is a nice watch and I recommend checking it out.

This does not take away anything from my experience however. It is a passion project and you can see it, hear it, feel it. It is a gem of a game and I can't recommend it enough. It took me long enough to even start it, after Arcesius having told me again and again how amazing the game is and I am so happy I did in the end.
