The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2022

Just got my last trophy in VVVVVV this morning, so that game is now also finished! I even managed to make that last trophy, "Master of the Universe" my 8000th trophy milestone.

This was definitely the hardest game I've ever completed, easily beating SMB and Splasher. Both the super gravitron and no death mode took me ages to clear, and at times I wasn't sure I could actually manage to do either of those trophies. Super gravitron took me 30+ hours and no death mode over 50, maybe 60 even. Learning the levels and setups is one thing, for a lot of jumps I didn't have too much trouble figuring out a good way to do them (hence the time trials not taking me long at all in comparison), but actually chaining them all together, with the high amount of very precise jumps was a huge challenge for me. Definitely very glad I could finish this one, especially since it's such a good and fun game!

DMC 5 done. I was impressed by this game. I think it is, hands down, one of the best game I ever played! Only downside is that, if you are a music lover like me, the soundtrack in this game can hit you so hard that you can slam your controller to the ground like a guitar in a rock concert ? great game really.

I finished Armored Core Verdict Day so half of tier 1 is done!

This is a very unique game which puts you in control of these big ass mechs and you just destroy everything in your path. In classic From Software fashion the game has a very steep learning curve and until you understand how it works it can be a very tough game. To get the platinum you have to overcome some very interesting challenges which include finishing all secondary objectives, getting S rank in all missions, finishing the game in perma-death mode (you can upload your save to the cloud but because it is copy protected you can only download it once every 24 hours) and finally beat all the big online bosses with the help of your trusted comrades. There's also some grinding for money involved to buy everything. Fortunately I had a good team of people and with them I did the hardest S ranks and secondary objectives in co-op and destroyed the online bosses.

Special thanks to @CelestialRequiem for not only publishing a guide for this game recently but also jumping into the game and helping with some stuff.

Overall it was a very interesting experience and I can say that I'm a fan of the series now.

Yeah sorry for the bad layout (Rarity is 1.99% for the plat and 0.75% for the hundo), but anyways. Grid Autosport is a game that's actually quite easy to earn a plat on if you don't mind an online grind. The Singleplayer itself is quite long as well. I ended up doing just about 1700 online races (which admittedly only took 1 minute per race) to reach level 50 due to helping some people reach the 100 wins. As for the DLC, it's the hardest part of this game and also delisted, but in general the DLC was quite fun.

Finished Spellbreak & Star Wars: Squadrons, both games will be missed ... not. Spellbreak was kind of fun in the beginning, but overstayed its welcome after a couple hours. @Koro249 and I were mostly playing against bots with a few real players every now and then. The game was patched at some point, lowering the level requirements drastically and it still was too much for my liking.

 

I was actually excited to play Squadrons but it became clear very quickly that I am in for some not fun times. The multiplayer is dead except for veterans that seem to play nothing else than this game, clocking in times from 500-1000h; and some newbies like me. Long queue times were normal, usually up to 5 minutes. The gameplay was not fun at all, sometimes enemies died in seconds, sometimes their HP pool never went down. It was frustrating and I just brute-forced through the MP part. The SP was ok, skipped everything and breezed through it. Highest difficulty (Ace) is unbalanced as expected but was doable in a day luckily.

 

Rayman & Badland are slowly progressing, Payday 2 is going slow as well unfortunately and I am also cleaning up some non-UR games, so updates will slow down for now, I think.

Well, it's been 5 months so I figure it's high time I made an update. Sadly, Genshin Impact no longer has a UR trophy, so I'll need to swap that one out. The good news is I completed the replacement for it last night with Team Sonic Racing coming in at 4.29% rarity. The trophy guide says 4/10 in difficulty and if you believe that I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. While the game isn't in the 8-10 category of difficulty, it's probably a 6 or 7. Not that it matters for this event, but figured I'd mention it anyways! I also beat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 a few weeks ago. It's my first COD game and I actually enjoyed it. Not that I'm going to go play all of the others right away, but I won't be afraid to play one either. I've made great progress on Rayment Legends (vita) and only need about 150 points to reach the final level of Awesomeness and then the plat will be mine (saving one level related diamond cup since I've read getting the last points via the challenges can be glitchy). Haven't really touched the other games yet. Got one more trophy in Shiren The Wanderer and have started to chip away at Injustice: Gods Among Us but neither of those are anywhere close to being done. I'll probably tackle Jurassic World Evolution 2 or Shiness The Lightning Kingdom next to clear them from my uncompleted games on my profile. It's impressive the progress a lot of you have made with your games so far!

If it was on your list you don't need to swap that out even if it gets back to Very Rare

I don't see any reply to this so i'll go ahead and say the bad news: this event demands you get all trophies for a game to be counted as completed. Only if a game has unobtainables cuz of server shutdown or dlc delisted it's accepted to do the remaining trophies of a game.

 

Simply saying you don't want to play the dlc is not accepted for this event

It's been awhile since I did an update as I've been working on multiple games & decided on doing a few different ones first before I get back to some of the other games that I want to do still. The only game I finished was Dyad which was quite awhile ago now. I made a post on my trophy checklist which involves various tips & strategies since a lot of the stuff that I looked up didn't always work, so I practiced enough to find strategies that I found to be consistent. I haven't finished off the post fully but if anyone is interested in going for Dyad then I hope my tips will be of some help at least. It's an interesting game that is worth it.

 

I did also finish Blur & Split/Second recently as well although I can't use either of these for this event lol. I didn't swap Blur back in before I finished it however I recommend it since it was a really good & fun game. It seems like Split/Second will eventually be ultra rare so if anyone is interested then I recommend it as well. It's not a very long game & I expect it to be an ultra rare game very soon. I still have yet to do a write up on my trophy checklist for both of these games.

 

I have been working on multiple games for this event as I mentioned earlier so I hope to start finishing some of these games off very soon but in the meantime I'll just keep going as I have been. I'll eventually get around to all of the games that I wanna do.

Another game complete, which was a pretty weird one: Dyad. This was a really trippy game where it's kinda hard to describe the gameplay or even the genre. I've seen someone use 'puzzle racer' and I guess that comes pretty close lol. For the platinum you only have to complete the 26 trophy levels in the game. To access these trophy levels you have to first get 3/3 stars on a sort of introduction level. It did happen a few times that the 3 star level was harder than the trophy level, so in that sense they didn't always work well as a sort of preparation (if that was even the goal of the devs ofcourse). There is a decent amount of variety among enemies and mechanics in this game, and most levels have you do some sort of variation of racing to the end of the level as fast as possible or performing a certain task a number of times within a time limit. One thing that made it frustrating sometimes though was that some of these requirements/levels require a decent bit of luck in having enemy patterns line up well (levels are randomly generated to some extent), so while most of the game was really easy, there were a few levels that took me quite a while to beat. Overall not a bad game though, and not very hard either.

 

Also switching out DBFZ for Trackmania Turbo, as I'm planning to make the latter my 175th platinum milestone. It's been pretty fun from what I've played so far, so I'll probably just chip away at it until I'm at 174.

Oh, I thought that maybe getting an UR trophy'd be enough to somewhat take part in this event.

Well, I never go for DLCs/100%, so I guess I'll skip this. Was worth a shot, though.

Good to know, but in the spirit of the event, I'll swap it out. The UR trophy was only UR since it was unobtainable at the time the event started. I didn't anticipate it being as high as it is. I'd rather pick something else.

Now here's a game I've been wanting to play for years but couldn't cause of all the delays but in the end I'd say it was somewhat worth the wait. For those who aren't familiar with insurgency, it's basically a hardcore online FPS that you would typically find on PC stripped of alot of the gameplay elements we see in modern shooters these days. Best part of it is easily the gunplay and sound as you can "feel" every shot but it's made even better because of how raw everything sounds from the screams of players being killed to the air support coming down across the map so they got the most important aspects down that's forsure. It's one of those games that sticks to the very basics which is perfectly fine but I just wish that there was a little more to keep me engaged as I felt like there was almost no progression whatsoever and winning didn't feel rewarding. Overall a good FPS worth buying on sale especially if you crave something that's slightly different yet reminiscent of older shooters but it just couldn't hold me like Rainbow six siege or Hunt Showdown did. 

 

The platinum is easy and short as most of it can be done playing against bots in survival mode, only reason this is even ultra rare is cause the platinum was unobtainable for about 6 months or so.

Completed my 7th game : OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood

 

 

As usual, for anyone interested in a deep review, I wrote one right here. OlliOlli2 is exactly how video game sequels should be : the devs took everything from the first game and did it much better this time around. The first one was a very good introduction in the genre, but this one takes it a few steps further. It looks better visually, runs smoother and is much more rich gameplay wise. The manual has been introduced and it honestly changes everything compared to the first game. For those who don't know, a manual in skateboarding is a trick where the skateboarder shifts his weight to one side of the board, the back or the front, in order to lift the wheels on the other side. It is basically the skateboarding version of a wheelie on a bike. Here is an example in the picture below : 

 

 

Doing manuals instead of regular landings allows you to keep your combo up and running until the next platform. It may sound like a small difference, but this new added twist changes everything about how the game is played because it allows you to chain your tricks without interrupting your combo and thus maximizing your score. See, in the first game, you needed the level to be laid out in a way that allowed you to chain tricks into a level long combo in order to maximize your points. You were going as far as the level design allowed you to, because once you land, your score is added to your total and you need to chain together a new combo from scratch in order to get your score up. In OlliOlli2, you can finish most stages in one level long combo, it doesn't matter if two platforms are far from each other because of this added gameplay aspect. That way, keeping your combo up and running until the end of the level assures you're maximizing your score. This proved to be very useful mainly because the score requirements in the sequel were much higher than the ones in the OG. 

 

On top of that, I had a blast going for these two games. I really enjoyed my time with it. OlliOlli2 is the best game I have played on this account thus far and one of my favorite video games ever. The level design was much more appealing, going from the movie sets of Olliwood, the Aztec ruins, the Wild West, a creepy amusement park and a futuristic cityscape. 

 

 

I enjoyed the game so much that I made it my 500th trophy milestone : 

 

 

As for what's next, well it's time to go back to those NHL games I started since their shutdown is next month. There is 4 stacks I want to finish, I completed 1.5 so far. They will be part of my next tier. I guess my fun time is now over and I'm back to this boring grind I dip myself into in the first place ?
