Metal Gear Solid remasters coming to PS5

Just replayed Metal Gear Solid on Steam Deck last week, was planning to start 2 in a couple of months after an exam and honeymoon...Will definitely hold off for now! Would love this to be true.

Just confirmed at the showcase.

 

 

As others have guessed, we'll eventually get another volume with more games.

 

So Volume 2 should contain MGS 4, Portable Ops, and Peace Walker. Maybe Ground Zeroes and V too, but those are already backwards compatible so who knows.

 

I don't think Revengeance will be part of the next volume because it isn't a Metal Gear Solid game and isn't part of the Snake saga. I think it's more likely to get a standalone remaster, or maybe part of a collection that includes other spin-offs like the Acid games.

The Snake Eater Remake looks good, can't wait for the gameplay footage. Also great news that MGS1&2 are getting remasters and hopefully MGS4 gets one too.

The presence of "Vol. 1" in the title indicates there'll be a Vol 2., aka the world's first chance to play MGS4 anywhere other than the PS3 - I'd also hope to see Peace Walker and Rising there for the full set!

Also I’d like to see MGS: Portable Ops as well, since nowdays it’s pretty much impossible to play it legally

 

And I’m absolutely excited for this HD Collection release on PS5. MGS series heavily influenced my teenage years/life and I’m looking forward to revisit my top favorite games of my younger days

I held off, in fact messaged my brother this morning saying I was going to start MGS2 this weekend! Shall continue to hold off then bosh all three of these utter masterpieces back to back!

Yeah I was confused by this. I thought the title of the remake (which I didn't know was a remake yet) was "Metal Gear Solid Delta" (because of the triangle shape), then "Snake Eater" popped up...THEN they showed the remasters with MGS3 in it. No idea. 

 

And now this also has me wondering if there's a possibility that MGSV gets a PS5 remaster. I've had that game sitting on my shelf since 2015 (PS4 version), have always been meaning to play it and just keep skipping over it but now a PS5 version would definitely make me wait longer. But I guess that depends on what Vol. 2 would entail.

The games might be a remasters only, highly doubt all of them would be full on remakes but i've always wanted to play them on PS5.

It might not have MGS4 since it's reported porting it would be a massive hassle due to the nature of its development on PS3

I prefer the original over Twin Snakes, the original is more challenging, after they used the same mechanics from MGS2 on MGS some boss fights became a joke, like the one against Raven.

I would be very, very shocked if Vol. 2 contained MGS4 unless it were a year or more away.

 

I hope with fingers crossed it contains Rising.
