Popular Post JaM
#253 LEGO Movie: The Videogame The Piece of Resistance Unlock All Trophies Wow, it has been 4 years since the movie has been released? Anyway, my first Lego game on PS4, or even in console since I always prefer to play them on Vita. I bought this game from a previous sale since I realized that it has been a while since I've played a Lego game and I really liked The Lego Movie. And well, everything is not awesome this time around... Years later and I do still have the curse. I did enjoy the gameplay, well, I haven't played a Lego game that I didn't enjoy the gameplay tbh. My issue was with the glitches. Kinda funny since I remember saying years ago that the Vita version of this game was the first Lego game that I have never encountered a glitch gameplay-wise and trophy-wise. It looks like that the glitches are in the console versions. Whine time: I have read the guide enough of times to be wary of the glitched/buggy trophy in this game and well, I made sure that I follow what to do to avoid it and... the game hate me. I am 100% sure that I have found all Mrs. Scratchen-Post's cats but the game didn't registered the 2 cats I've found. And of course, since I am confident enough that I follow every step needed to avoid the glitch/bug, I didn't have a backup save. Oh, well there goes my precious hours spent getting that 70~% progress. After hours of speedrunning the game, luckily I am wiser enough the second time (or rather, paranoid) to make a backup save since the game decided to glitch/bug on me again. End of Whine Aside from that, I did still enjoy the game and would still recommend to anyone that like playing Lego games. Lastly, The Lego Movie 2 hype! And yes, years later, I do still love listening to Everything Is Awesome. Thanks Social Anxiety, I guess... *sigh* Edited October 4, 2018 by JaM
Popular Post Empovyle
Skylanders Swap Force (PS3) "NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" #94 Here's some backstory: I've set a goal for myself to race to 99 platinums before the Spyro trilogy comes out in November because I want the first Spyro to be my 100th platinum on launch day. Figured I'd just complete some short games to fill the gaps because I only have 1 month left and I was only at my 93rd platinum. Well, I'm a pretty competitive person, so I took a glance at the fastest achievers list for Skylanders Swap Force to see what I'd be up against. 1 day, 12 hours was the current record. I thought to myself that I could totally beat that if I no-life it for a whole day. It was not easy. This game is extremely and painfully boring playing through 4 times in such short succession. I had to take breaks because watching the same cutscenes over and over and seeing the same stupid dialogue made me feel like I was rotting inside and made me question why I'm still playing Skylanders games in 2018 as a grown adult. I almost fell asleep so many times and unfortunately I did have to go to bed for a few hours since I couldn't force myself to go full robot mode. But not long after waking up I managed to finish the game, with about 4 hours to spare off the record. I was so thrilled to finally be first place in a game! Naturally I checked the fastest achievers list... Turns out I'm a complete moron, and I was looking at the PS4 fastest achievers list the entire time. I ended up being only 24 minutes behind the 1st place PS3 record of 1 day, 7 hours. Devastating. For the current record holder, if you happen to be reading this... I'm very jealous. ? On the bright side, it's great to be done with this mess and to be making such quick progress towards my goal that's creeping up on me a little bit too soon. Popular Post Ala-Arska
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Does whatever a spider can! Unlock all 42 trophies to earn this Apparently a spider can not take decent photographs. Look out, here comes the Picture Man! My first Spidey Platinum (and 1000th post!)! I heard this 'uns one of the best ones around, so a good game to start at as any. I guess my ear drums are still top notch, because what I heard was right: Shattered Dimensions is a blast to play! Unlike many other web titles, S-M:SD consists of many levels instead of an open world. I'm fine either way, to be honest Story is simple: chase pieces of a magical artifact across four dimensions. A total of 13 levels await, and as many more or less familiar bosses. There's three levels for each of the Spidey iterations (Amazing, Ultimate, Noir and 2099) and each acts different from the other. I fancied 2099 adventures the most, mostly because how cool everything looked and bosses Hobgoblin, Scorpion + Doc Octopussy were a hoot Amazing's cel-shaded graphics were off-putting at first, but grew on me the more I explored Kraven's, Sandman's + Juggernaut's territories. Ultimate had the slowest combat, methinks, which made Electro, Deadpool + Carnage a bit more challenging to beat (and annoying) Noir had the stealth approach, and serious technical problems with wall crawling. Hammerhead, Vulture + Goblin took their time to stay down! I loved the variety of alternate costumes each Spider-Man had. The developers really did their homework with these, especially with this retro gem: (It's the Bag Man costume from TAS #258, where Peter leaves his symbiote suit at Fantastic Four's and gets this from Johnny Storm...) Numeral other nods to comics were made, all warming my old comic-book loving heart. "Here's mud in your eye!" (vs. Sandman & Hydro-Man, TAS #217) Overall there were some serious camera angle issues. I kind of knew that beforehand, but still that swirling camerawork became my greatest enemy Weird bugs (besides those 4 Spiders ) occurred every now and then: dropping through floor, stuck in a wall, doors not opening, freezing mid-air. At first they were kinda funny, but all those glitches turned infuriating when trying to speedrun through shitloads of bullets and oddly placed pillars... Despite the several hiccups and camera wobbliness, Shattered Dimensions offers great combat, oodles of variety and humorous banter. Two thumbs up Edited October 4, 2018 by Ala-Arska

Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #145 N.E.R.O. Our Journey ends Climb to the top. That.. wasn't very good. To be fair I did it with a guide going so that kind of dampens the "immersion", but I did pause it and read all the dialog available. I just don't know why people try to tell some meaningful story in a way that is easy to miss. I wasn't even sure I was reading some of the dialog in the proper order, and some of it repeated itself which made it more confusing to me. Music was alright, but in the hospital it has that piano jumpscare sound effect for some reason and half the time I wasn't even sure what it was trying to do as I was walking around. Weird tone. Puzzles were really lame. I know I used a guide for it, but they just weren't that interesting even without it. The game crashed twice, once during that gnocchi trophy and once after the plat trying to just see the ending. Looked it up on YouTube and it was just kinda... eh. Glad I didn't boot the entire game back up just for it, but it wasn't even worth the YT search really. And there's no reason for a game so simple to crash. It's inexcusable to me. Luckily had no trophy glitches at least. Visually it was beautiful, but that's about all I got out of it sadly. I don't mind a walking sim/artsy game, but man do developers need to at least try a bit better. If your goal is to tell a compelling story, don't tell it like this or Everybody's Gone to Rapture, just make a short film or make the story straight forward. If you want to leave it up for interpretation then do it like Journey, or Flower. Both more fun to play and have more impact on me without trying to tell a story with characters and dialog. :/ Edited October 4, 2018 by Elvick_
Popular Post Jelloycat
Platinum #61 - Minit Was finally able to complete this one now that they've added the patch to fix the collectible glitch. Anyways, was a pretty fun little game. The whole minute concept was cool, which was why I originally bought this game in the first place.
Popular Post Mcbeanstr
I did it after a long term absence from trophy hunting and touching my playstation consoles in anger I have done it finally 100 platinums. #98 God of War This was a fantastic game Sony Santa Monica did a tremendous job reinventing the combat and actually making it more interesting compared to the original trilogy. I love the norse mythology setting and the references and stories you got from the shrines and Mimir. Overall i'm proud to get the plat for this game it was so much fun. Overall rating: 9.5/10 Plat difficulty: 3.5/10 Spoiler #99 Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma Having played VLR years ago now when it became a ps plus freebie for the vita I immediately got addicted and sat for hours on end completing that game to 100% completion and boy oh boy what a journey that was. This time around ZTD was a freebie once more and I feel ashamed to not have spent a cent on these 2 brilliant games and to give the developers some form of reward for providing me with such entertainment. I will be getting the nonary game collection on PS4 or steam when the time is right to make up for that. The premise is pretty much the same, solve puzzles in a locked room to escape, avoid letting people die and try to make sense of what is going on around you while things you can't explain begin to happen at every turn. That basically sums up Zero Escape (imo) and it turns out that uncovering all the mysteries is addictive as hell. As far as gameplay goes there's not much else to do other than pointing and clicking across a room, collecting items, keys and notes to help you escape. As tedious as that sounds I never found it to be repetitive or annoying for some reason the endless amounts of dialogue though was an issue for me but that's what you come to expect with visual novels so oh well that's over and done with. Overall rating: 8/10 Plat difficulty: 1/10 Spoiler #100 Return to Arkham: Batman Arkham Asylum Here it is No.100 This game holds a special place in my heart because the PS3 version was my first ever platinum so even though I have kept it locked away in the batcave ? for 2 years to pop its time has come and it has seen the light of day finally. To sum up this game in 2018, if you're playing Spider-man PS4 this game along with the subsequent sequels played a major role in the development of that game so you owe it to yourself to get the Arkham trilogy and enjoy the crap out of those games. Overall rating 9.5/10 Plat difficulty: 2/10 I know I haven't posted in a very long time but hopefully once my exams end (I write in a few short weeks) I will be back again with more plats to share. Thanks for reading and have a good day Edited October 5, 2018 by Mcbeanstr Added platinum screenshots and editing
Popular Post Desmuria
#110 & #111 - Jack N' Jill DX Platinum Jack N' Jill Get all the trophies Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 1/10 I actually really enjoyed this game. It's super easy and I managed to plat it twice in about 25 minutes. I will probably go back and try and complete all the levels, even though you only need to do 20 to get the platinum. I wish it was coloured, because the monotone look got boring super fast. #112 - Little Adventure on the Prairie Big Adventurer Obtain all trophies Enjoyment: 1/10 Difficulty: 1/10 I originally got the platinum for this on my PS4. Now I have a PS Vita, it just had to be done again. Awful game, easy plat. I regret nothing. #113 - 36 Fragments of Midnight Platinum Midnight Become a master collector Enjoyment: 6/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Another game I originally got the platinum for on my PS4. I found completing this on the Vita a little more challenging. But hey! I did it. It's frustrating at first but, once you get used to the traps, it's pretty straight forward.
Popular Post madbuk
#278 - LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues I was a big fan of LEGO Indiana Jones 1 on PS2, and as such have been interested in this game for quite a while, but for some reason I just never got around to buying it until a few days ago (I do own the DS version though which is pretty good.) The structure of this game is quite unique - none of the levels have collectibles. The only reason you have to replay them is to get true adventurer status if you missed it the first time, and there's no freeplay when replaying either so you have to use the same characters as the first time. Instead, the collectibles are scattered around 6 different hub areas. Each hub area is cut off from the others - you can't bring a character from Temple of Doom into Crystal Skull, for instance. Overall I liked the change of pace this offered as a one-time thing, but I'm glad that they didn't stick to it for every LEGO game afterwards. Having to find characters with the right abilities in every new hub instead of just getting them in one hub and bringing them wherever was a little annoying, and it felt like there was very little reason to fully explore levels after you've gotten true believer since there was nothing else substantial to find. Also I had forgotten that these early games had no voice acting because I'm so used to it in LEGO games by now lol - I had no idea what was going on because I've never seen an Indiana Jones movie (aside from Crystal Skull when it released, and I remember nothing about it.) The first game was better but I'm still happy that I finally got around to playing this after so many years.
Popular Post JavaNext
#70 - Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Not sure what to say about this game, it's a very "by the book" jrpg. The story simple and predictable but still enjoyable, the combat works well but there's no challenge in it, the presentation is great but I miss the animated cutscenes from studio Ghibli. Nothing amazing but a very solid tile nonetheless. The platinum is very simple, I did get hit by a glitch in "Recruiting Sergeant" but it got fixed soon after I finished the game. #71 - Marvel's Spider-Man Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Best Spider-Man portrail in any form of media (maybe even comics). As others have said before the game looks great, sounds great and it really makes you feel like spider-man. But what made it a sucess for me was the story and the writing, the universe that Insomniac created barrows elements from the Amazing and Ultimate series and mixes them with some original ideas to make some really interesting lore. I would also like to mention the humor because in previous games it always felt forced or awkward, with repetitive quips and such, in this game it feels genuine and well thought out and even the quips work because they are usually contextual and don't repeat often. I'm already looking forward to the sequel. #72 - Yakuza Kiwamin 2 Difficulty: 8/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 It was very nostalgic playing this because Yakuza 2 on PS2 was the only game in the series I played before this gen. The story is just as melodramatic as ever and I still think Ryuji is the best antagonist in the series, I feel like he's similar to Kiryu but choose a different path. I didn't play 6 so this was my first experience with the Dragon Engine and I think it was the right move for the series, the over the top physics felt odd at first but after throwing a few people through some storefronts I was cool with it. The Yakuza Platinums feel easier with each entry because the requirements are fairly similar and difficulty usually lies with the Climax Battles (which are not in this game) and the minigames which are mostly the same, with Mahjong being the most difficult to master. Here's hoping they continue bringing this series to the west. Edited October 4, 2018 by JavaNext
Popular Post snakebit10
#255 Killing With Style! SO were to begin. I will be honest about something first. Before I played this I thought the game was about the different ways you can die in this game. I was wrong. It is actually about how you kill what is called "Splatts" in the game. You are helping a scientist put back together his book on how to kill these Splatts. Through out all the levels there is 101 ways to kill them. While I did enjoy the game, the 101 kills did not come naturally. I had 55 by the time I finished the game. That left me with 46 ways to discover on how to kill these things. Thankfully the guide had a video for them and it had a time line so you could click on the ones you needed instead of watching the whole video. I think it is a perfect plat for October.

Feiryn-
#35 - Platinum Trophy (The Bunker) This is the second FMV game I play after Late Shift and... I really didn't like it. The lack of interactivity is a big flaw plus the whole game is weird. The only good thing I have to say about this game is that the main actor was really good.

Popular Post NorbR338055
#19 - Heavy Rain Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 5/10 Not a bad game, I enjoyed the story most of the time, but playing this after having played Detroit made it harder to fully enjoy ... it just can't compare. Graphically, it's not at the same level, but that's understandable. Still, some of the animations and voice acting are really off and break the immersion way too often. And the movement is infuriating in this game, with the stupid camera changing angles and the delay between controller input and actual movement ... so frustrating, so may times. The story was all right, though not without issues. I actually enjoyed replaying the last chapters several times to get the different endings. Big thanks to the author of the guide on this site, by the way, ever so helpful for games like this. So, overall, an OK game, that just hasn't aged very well.

Popular Post Nauticus87
Been a while since I last posted (30 plats to be exact!) but I felt this was worth posting: #278 - La-Mulana EX EX, more like EZ!... I went back for the ultra rares (40 of them!!) but stayed for the insanity. Not even ashamed to say I used a guide, if you want to beat the game (let alone plat it) it's pretty much essential. Maybe have maps too. Heck, just act like a real archeologist and do lots of research and planning. Then all you need is a ton of skill and sometimes luck to beat all the bosses without subweapons. Like I said, EZ... At 3 years and 1 month, I'm proud to be the slowest person to platinum this wonderful, yet maddening, game.
Popular Post Durandal
Remastered (PS4) Not quite sure what to make of this mess. The game itself is interesting enough and the story has its moments, but it is just another adventure story, one that I read or watched a hundred times by now. And it has way to many clichés for my taste. And of course it is almost an exact copy of all the Indiana Jones movies. My greatest disappointment however is that there are way to many firefights and that the gameplay is rather flawed. I expected something that was more focused on exploration instead it's one firefight after the other, sometimes I wondered if I wasn't playing Doom or some such. Sadly there is hardly any exploration or even puzzle solving to be found here. Speaking of puzzles the three or four puzzles in the game are laughable at best. But the biggest problems are the gameplay flaws. The first is the cover system, which is rather frustrating at times. Especially in narrow passages, where you have to dodge from cover to cover. It happens way to often that Drake ended up anywhere but not where I wanted him to go. Consequently the camera became something of a mess. Which is the second flaw. The camera is too active for my taste so I had to constantly adjust it which was just annoying during all the firefights. It also made aiming a pain because the camera changed the viewpoint a lot so I had to reposition Drake quite a lot which exposed him to other gunmen. Which was really frustrating in the harder difficulty levels, where one or two shots is enough to kill Drake. Which bring me the third flaw. Every single enemy in this game is an expert marksman apparently. In fact they are so good that you only had to stick your nose out for one second and the would should your brains out, or his, from a mile away with a shotgun. That's just lazy game design in my opinion. Lastly the trophy list is a joke or very boring. It's either kill x man with this weapon or that or kill them some other way or collect treasure. The worst one is the one where you have to kill 50 enemies from behind with a melee attack. Which literally meant killing the same guy over and over again because there is hardly any section in the game where you can be stealthy. Like I said the most boring trophy list I encountered so far. Nevertheless I enjoyed it somehow or at least partially. I truly hope that part 2 and 3 are much better.
