Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#112 - Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales "Living Legend" Get all trophies Do you like (or love) The Witcher 3? Did you enjoy Gwent, but found it to come predictable / simple by the end of the game? Well, Thronebreaker will definitely scratch that itch for you! Personally, I'm a massive fan of this series, so this was a no-brainer purchase for me. I thought the style looked interesting, and was keen to see how the story-telling, characters and world-building carried over from the main Witcher series... and wow, was this an amazing ride. There's a lot to love here, so I'll keep it brief. This game has amazing characters, world design, voice-acting, music, gameplay... all things the Witcher games are known for in general. The choice-consequence system is (in my opinion) excellently done here; with there rarely being a 'right or wrong' choice; as the game so readily reminds you, you often have to choose between 'one evil in favour of another'. Are you willing to give up that amazing card in the face of a decision that you suspect will drive them to leave your service? You may not realise the outcomes of your choices until much later, but some can have quite far-reaching consequences. Gameplay is split in 3 main parts: exploration (admittedly rather simple, but there are multiple gorgeous locations to explore), story/choices (voice-acting, background sound-design, and characterisation excellent) and combat/Gwent. Gwent, though recognisable from the main game of Witcher 3, is also expanded upon in many ways (NB: I haven't played the FTP Gwent card game yet, but I imagine many of this stuff is present there too). There are only 2 rows instead of 3 - which I initially thought simplified it too much - but I was dead wrong. From an incredible variety of units, trinkets (single-use items) and trophies (multi-use tools), to a leader ability, many different other effects, and some gorgeous card-art... I was very, very impressed. Some of the puzzles are very, very creative; and even some of the main battles (such as the main fight at the end of Chapter 4) make fun and clever use of the system. Though I found some nigh-unbeatable combos by the end of the game, the journey of learning new cards and abilities was very enjoyable. I know I said I'd be brief... but I have to talk a bit about the world, story, characters etc too (haha). Despite being largely relegated to simple sprites, the voice-acting and subtleties in motion and facial expression do an amazing job of selling this game world. I don't want to spoil anything, but the story is also very well-told, and ties in with other games in the series. The fact that I thought and felt so strongly about how various characters would react when making some big decisions just goes to show how well-developed the characters are. I honestly felt like a Queen in some ways; forced to make tough decisions... do I act for the good of my Kingdom? The North as a whole? Based on how my troops or advisors will act? Do I want to gain a new ally or is my honour more important? Brilliantly done. I had very few issues with the game, but one glaring one does need to be addressed. I played on 'bone breaker' (the hardest of 3 difficulties) as I enjoy a challenge in this style of game; and I got it. Some later battles required careful planning to outmanoeuvre my opponents. HOWEVER, I soon realised there was a very frustrating issue with this. In most (though strangely, not all) battles against Nilfgaardian or Scoitael opponents, the game would stutter/freeze intermittently for about 20-30s before each turn the AI made. This severely broke the flow of combat and gameplay, and was just... well, annoying. I 'googled' this issue, and found that it was an issue with the AI needing to think before making a move on higher difficulties; and as soon as I turned down the difficulty, the problem lessened (on the 2nd difficulty) and disappeared completely (on the lowest). This seriously sucks; and honestly, I fail to see how this is anything other than poor optimisation. I get that Gwent can get complicated, but the PS4 Pro is a very powerful console, and there's honestly no excuse for this to be happening; especially this long after release. This became such an issue that by the end of the game, I had to turn down the difficulty. Not because I needed to 'git gud', but purely because of how frustrating it was to wait that long before each and every turn... making one mistake and having to start the whole battle again - while frustrated - turned what was potentially a 5-minute battle into multiple 15-minute attempts. I also experienced numerous (probably about 8) game crashes on my first (30hr) play through. Neither of these issues are completely game-breaking or anything, but they certainly tarnished my experience somewhat. Trophies are generally straight-forward and nigh unmissable (as long as you explore everywhere); especially since you can skip battles completely if you play on easy! However, the 'collect all weapons' is certainly missable on your 1st playthrough; depending on some choices you make. This was quite annoying; especially since the 2 I missed were because I chose to make an 'honourable' decision... This made me feel punished; and not in a 'affecting gameplay' way (since neither was particularly game-changing) either... that said, you can easily get through the main path of the game in 2-3 hours by following the main path / skipping cutscenes / playing on easy and skipping all battles, so it's not that big of an issue. In summary, Thronebreaker: Witcher Tales is an excellent game. No 'for a card / strategy game' or any such nonsense; this stands alone as an utterly enthralling adventure. A must-play for any Witcher-fan, and very highly recommended for basically anyone. I highly recommend a blind playthrough here too; sure you could min-max everything (ensuring you get every single card, etc.), but a major part of this game is the story and choices, and you're doing yourself a disservice if you spoil it all for yourself You'll almost certainly regret some of your choices, but that's the whole point... Game rating: 9/10 (unfortunate technical issues keep it back from 10) Plat difficulty: 1-4/10 (you can ultimately skip everything if you want, though it can be a challenge if you play on Hard!)

Popular Post Deadly_Ha_Ha
#24 - Ninjin: Clash of Carrots Difficulty - 8/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This game was a doozy. Immediately proceeding Dark Cloud 2 which took just shy of 3 months, this game took 6 days. That said, this was a very, very challenging game. Honestly I would go so far as to say one of the most difficult games I have every played. It's a side-scrolling beatemup which, though I know they aren't exactly known for their noob-friendly gameplay, I was NOT expecting to be as hard as it was. It started off relatively easy, but by the end of having to grind out an S-rank on the last 5 stages, I was reaching the end of my rope. Oddly enough (?) it was S-ranking the fifth to last stage which was the absolute single toughest thing this game provided. The rarest trophies are for collecting all of the game's accessories and swords and whatever, because when you kill enemies they have a chance to drop chests containing gear to be used as you proceed. But they don't account for all the gear. The last pieces of gear you'll get are from completing 50 waves in the game's endless mode - but there's a catch. If you could choose your gear it would be easy-peasy. But the game mixes it up by starting you in endless mode with the base gear, and every three waves it gives you a selection of three random pieces of gear - swords, throwing weapons, and accessories - for you to choose one of, and take it from there. Without luck, because it is 100% R~N~G baby, you WILL NOT succeed. You need a pretty immaculate gear setup to win, which took me in particular about 35 tries to achieve. Anyway, no one plays this game but I might put up a guide. Either way, it was a lot of fun and a pretty rewarding plat. Not sure what's next but probably something easier... Popular Post Phoenix_argentea
Platinum trophy No. 121! Valkyria Chronicles (Remastered) Valkyrie of the Battlefield I'm not a huge fan of war games, but this one is the exception! A really good story (a fictional Second World War in a different Europe continent), with some dramatic twists plot, like Isara's death or Selvaria's suicide and interesting characters. You see Squad 7 doesn't trust their new young commander (Welkin), but after some battles, you see them change and become a huge family, (especially Rosie and her hate against the Darcsen people). About the gameplay, you can save during every turn and you can try a luckier shot, especially the anti-tank lancers (their aim is ugly due to their weapons ?), and sometimes you can try a different strategy. The hardest levels were the 7th with the huge imperial tank (I spent two hours only in this mission, since I had no idea how I should have stopped that beast tank. I destroyed also all the 6 turrets but it kept moving... And in the second part there was the Valkyria Selvaria who killed three soldiers, so I was studying a path in order to save them and not to be killed! ? What a nightmare...) and the 13th (or 14th, anyway the one with the two tanks and the never-ending enemies soldiers waves. Seriously, I had no idea of what was happening here, since I killed all of the 6 soldiers every turn and I thought they would stop after destroying the tank... Well, I was wrong, since they kept coming and one scout was more than enough to put an end to the battle, since he only put the enemy flag in the camp I previously occupied, then... Game over after 9 turns ?! I was sick of it, so I reloaded and I placed the lancer before the appearance of the tanks... The battle was over in two turns ?!) My favourite characters? Alicia (of course... ?) and the sniper Marina (with her "My way" and "extra shot" potentials... Seriously, the snipers are really great. With them I cleaned the map of most of the enemy soldiers and snipers, so I could create a secure path for my scouts ). Platinum screenshot is quite bad, since the screenshots are all the same in the audience hall (except one which is a pitch black screen): And this is bad, since they should have put the platinum in the decoratin album with all the medals. This could have been a great platinum screeshot! ? Surely I'll play also the Valkyria 4 in the future. I really liked this strategy game!

Popular Post madbuk
#316 - Steins;Gate 0 This was my first plat of 2018, and playing it really made me want to replay the original, so I did (twice, thanks to PS+), and then when that was done... I wanted to play 0 again lol. At the time I thought the only other stacks were foreign, but I was wrong, the Vita one was a different list to the PS4 one I had done. So I waited for a good sale, and it finally happened and caused me to replay this wonderful game. I do think the original game is better, overall, but this is still well worth playing. It fills a gap in the original game - which, by the way, was completely unnecessary to fill because the game worked perfectly anyway - and offers a very interesting juxtaposition compared to the original game. They're completely different in terms of tone but they both work extremely well at what they try to do. Without going into spoilers, you can really see just how much the previous game changed the main character by playing this. There was one specific part of this plot when I first played it that I didn't quite understand even by the time I had the plat. Now, having replayed it, I understand it but it's still dumb, unnecessary, and poorly explained. The rest of it is very good though so that doesn't really bring it down much. I enjoyed redoing this, maybe not as much as redoing the original, but still quite a lot. I'll be there for a Steins;Gate 0 Elite, however (un)likely that may be. (As a side note, between playing Steins;Gate Elite and Steins;Gate 0, I played the tie-in game that Elite comes with - Linear Bounded Phenogram. It has no trophies but it's absolutely worth playing, 40-50 hours of new, quality stories in the S;G universe. Don't let the lack of trophies put you off)
Popular Post Ala-Arska
My Time at Portia Time Well Spent Unlock all of the Trophies This Map even shows people! Some say it belonged to a wizard once... Never has been a dystopian setting so bright and cheery! Yup, the old world is in ruins and the new one has hopefully learned from its past mistakes. In this world lies Portia, a harbor town where my protagonist's task is to build and supply whatever folks need. Whether it be simple furniture, or bus stops, or even huge hot air balloons, my main man delivers like a clockwork Everything is time sensitive here, so it may not be everyone's cup of tea. You wake up at 7am, run errands (fast!), and be bed by 3am latest. Rinse and repeat for 28 days a month, for four months (as in 4 seasons). That's one year, and then do it all over again. It's pretty much Groundhog Day, but with much more color and happiness. And stuff building. Oh the endless stuff building... It's very much fun at first, being uber-busy and doing all sorts of social things. Having my own workshop and getting married had their own perks too: Well, it's the end of the world, so beggars can't be choosers. I do know why she married me, though... Other viable name candidates for my workshop were Wood Stock, James' Woods and Wood You Kindly?. That last one almost gave me a Rapture On to the good and bad (the ugly being my imagination most likely). Sucky things first, so we'll end with a good taste in our mouths (See? u.g.l.y.). Loading times. Geez Louise, they take forever and then some. Enter a room or a cutscene, you're bound to have to wait 10 seconds. Multiply that by 100's. Crashes. For a game that's not THAT impressive (technically), it sure does go into danger zone and beyond too often. I counted 8 times total Bugs and bunnies. Disappearing houses and characters, quest marks teleporting all over the map, glitchy inventory items..."only" annoying, but still. Cutscenes half-assed. No sound in those 95% of the time, they are just poorly made. The absence of quality baffles me, what happened dudes? Even so, I did find redeeming aspects, oodles of those. Here we go, strap in: Addictive as all food to pregnant women. Because of the constant hurry, you just want to play one more game day, one more quest. Until you pass out Music is relaxing and makes me think of fields of gold and all that stings. Dragon Quest VIII, Earthlock, NES Willow and Little Nemo, all were present. Story is, like said, surprisingly upbeat for post-apocalypse. It will shoot sunshine and rainbows to your living room (or mom's basement, who are we kidding?) And that final battle...the scenes that follow are best described as "What the f**k did just happen". It's the weirdest shit I've seen since Kung Fu Hustle Despite its shortcomings, My Time at Portia gets its hooks on you early on and doesn't let go easily. Build like Emmet, and don't forget your paaants

Loved this game however I am a pretty big fan of fighting games and Naruto in general since I've played most of the games on one console or another. Was a really enjoyable game to play through, nothing super hard since you don't have to S rank all missions or anything like that just need to come in with 50% completion. Popular Post IceSoul21
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves Unlock all trophies for Sly Cooper's final outing. . . final? Really? Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 Rarity: Uncommon (38.61 % in PSNProfiles) So, I never played the Sly trilogy in the PS2 era, but after playing some of the Ratchet & Clank, as well as some of the Jak & Daxter games, I got curious about this other "PS2 mascot", so I bought the Sly Trilogy years ago. I played through Sly 1 & Sly 2 and got their Platinums, so Sly 3 was the only one left. Without going into spoilers just in case, the game takes place some time after the events of Sly 2: Band of Thieves. Sly learns thanks to McSweenie (I think that was his name), who worked alongside his father, that the Cooper family had a secret vault where they've hidden all the treasures they have accumulated over their generations, so Sly & the gang decide to go to the island where the vault is so Sly can see what his ancestors achieved. However, upon arriving they see that someone by the name of Dr.M got there 1st and is trying to open the vault for his own ambitions. Seeing this, the gang realizes that they'd need a bigger team to succeed, so they decide to find new mebers for the gang, which include new and old faces. The game is similar to the other Sly games, with some changes in gameplay since you play as other characters besides Sly, Bentley & Murray. The game is simple but entertaining, and leaves the door open for another entry in the series. That entry became Sly Thieves in Time, which I own and which I'll play eventually. Popular Post NorbR338055
#32 - Days Gone Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 I'm sure I won't be the first to say it, but this game deserves a lot more praise than what it got when the first reviews came out. I think the main problem with Days Gone is that it doesn't necessarily make a good first impression. As the game begins, sure the world is nice and the freakers are kinda cool, but everything is also a bit clunky, the missions are not super interesting and the story is sloooowly developing. And yes, there were a lot of bugs and glitches, particularly early on in the game. I did notice them less and less as the game progressed though. No idea if they were getting patched up, if they were less present in further areas, or if I was just getting used to them. Still, the game lacks polish, that's undeniable. Nevertheless, as the story and the world open up, the whole game is slowly but surely elevated. For me, I got really hooked once the story moves to the third camp (don't want to spoil more than that). And the game keeps improving, as the last third of the story is by far the best part in my opinion. The star of the game is obviously the world, and by that I mean the environment itself and all the life in it, friends and foes, humans and wildlife, marauders and freakers. The marketing pitch for Days Gone was pretty much "the world is out to get you", and I think they really nailed that feeling. Although it should be said again, this is probably not so obvious at the beginning of the game, and gets better and better as the story progresses. The enemies in the last third of the game are much more interesting, with a greater diversity of freakers, and of course the hordes. Also it doesn't hurt that the platinum is a very easy one to get. Slightly annoying at the end when it comes time to clean up the collectibles, but fortunately you only need 75% of them. Still, since only some of them are marked on the map, a good guide is very helpful, if not necessary. Oh, and that trophy tracker in the menus? Gold. Pure gold. Bottom line, this game is really good, and worth diving into if you like open world games with a strong narrative component. I'd recommend hanging in there if the early story and atmosphere doesn't grab you, because it really gets better.

Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#113 - Minit "LEGEND" UNLOCK ALL OTHER TROPHIES Okay, so I definitely will keep this one brief... if you're looking for a fun distraction & an easy plat, this game is a decent experience. It's effectively a rogue-lite; with 1 minute per life (hence the name), as you gradually obtain new items and unlock new areas. The characters are quirky, the style / music is interesting, and there are some cool moments for sure... but that's about it. There's just not much substance here. 'Puzzles' are very simple, combat is a bit finicky (hit detection on NG+ triggered me a bit), and the game is over so quickly that you'll be left kinda feeling like, well, 'meh'. I do realise that not every game is meant to be an expansive masterpiece, and I did enjoy my 4ish hours here, but I could have passed on it easily, too. Oh, and did I mention this is a SUPER easy platinum? NG+ might seem a bit tricky initially, but you can actually skip a good chunk (basically all) of the last 1/3 of the game by running straight to the toilet... lol. Honestly, I'm surprised this even got a platinum haha. Game rating: 6/10 (not bad, just meh) Plat difficulty: 1.5/10
