Popular Post ippikitako
#18 - Catherine: Full Body [A Full-bodied Wine Toast] Finally got it - Catherine platinum number 2. ? Saved one of the easiest levels for last this time. Ending on a more relaxed note was nice, haha. Catherine PS3 not so much for me, as I needed the last Babel level for the platinum back then. A nice milestone since this platinum is also my 1000th trophy.

The three things I want Alan Wake 2 to do is be more scary this game didn't exactly make me sleep with the lights on and I am pretty sure it's a horror game, secondly I hope the dodging is better since it can be quite dodgy (No pun intended) Alan half time would just end up spiriting and I would get hit, and third and finally MAKE ALAN SPRINT LONGER! I mean geez I know he's not an athlete but come on I can run faster and longer then he could. lol you had the exact same 3 complaints I had with this game! Shortest sprint in any video game ever lol and it’s just cheesy not scary in the slightest. Also what is with all the wierd things the enemies say? I remember one enemy says “there is 3000 pigs on this planet” haha is that suppose to be scary or something? Who wrote this insanely cheesy enemy dialogue. Honestly I don’t see how it got all the praise it did. I only bought it because I thought alan wake 2 looked cool in the ps showcase, but after playing it I’m going to be very skeptical about buying the sequel.

That last puzzle is a good challenge using everything you learn in the game and the way the photos work are amazing.

Popular Post Darghel
#193: A Trek to Remember (Trek to Yomi) Difficulty: has some incredibly frustrating spikes in difficulty Time to Complete: around 10 hours (2 playthroughs and half) Recommended: Yes but careful! Total score: 7/10 Tried this one last month for a short while then i went back to play Tales of Arise, but now that I'm working toward my 200th plat I've been on the search for any game that is short but still consistently good - I'm not into shovelware FYI. Anyway I thought to get back on this and by the Kami this game wasn't an easy trek! First the positive: the game tries to recapture the old samurai movies, the ones in black and white, and I would say it kinda does, somewhat? I think the issue is that the graphics are still too clean, too nice, and despite the filter and the bloom I wasn't confused thinking I was watching a movie: I was playing a videogame with some filter and bloom effects. The story is about revenge so all I will say is that it's pretty straightforward, too much I'd say: I barely even knew Hiroki, I don't know what he did before that, I don't know a thing about his past...well the game does tell you if you collect the artifacts and, while a nice surprise, it was already the end of the game and I already stopped bothering. But hey maybe that's the intention: you don't need more motivation about cheering this guy up, other than have his revenge yeah? Now...for the negatives and I really wish I didn't, but by the Kami this game is incredibly frustrating: I started in Ronin as the guide said and it wasn't actually that hard to get through the enemies - all you need is the same square-square-triangle combo to basically kill everyone and recover health. Sure I died sometimes but nothing bad...until the bosses came about and that's where the game gets a nosedive in frustration-city and I legitimately struggled a lot. And all because there's a huge division between normal enemies and bosses: normal enemies pose no threat and you will barely struggle with them, usually requiring very little concentration, but bosses is where you're supposed to use ALL of your abilities, ALL of your knowledge, ALL you got to kill them...which you never, EVER used during the game! Suddenly the fact you have to press X to turn around to get to face the boss becomes important, suddenly the right combo is important and stamina can get tricky since you have to attack a lot. The final boss took me half an hour because even at max health he could kill me with 3 hits! Oh and it also has 2 phases, an add phase, and you don't recover ANY health throughout the fight! What is this, Dark souls but in Japan? Oh wait Sekiro and Nioh exist... What I'm trying to saying is that there's a very huge imbalance between normal encounters and boss encounters: the former are so easy that require no knowledge of the combat, even when the game lets you learn more abilities, and the latter requires you to know said abilities of combat or else risk getting 2-3 shot by their multiple attacks (at least on Ronin). Also, the dodge roll is busted: sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I can dodge arrows and gunshots just fine but that flying sword guy? No chance. What a pain... Ironically, Kensei difficulty was much easier to deal with: sure you die in one hit but you also kill in one hit, and bosses have much less health than Ronin so they can be killed really quick if you use the right combination (aka: Square-Triangle-Triangle...it quite literally halves their hp). As for the rest, it's your usual collect-a-thon stuff with lots of collectibles and upgrades to collect - all of which are missable of course. I'm not against collectibles but I hate when they're missable, meaning that missing one will require a complete start over with no level select. And once you finish the game you don't even keep those upgrades for an NG+ or something: it's all gone and you got to recollect them again. Too bad because I enjoyed reading most of them! Bottom line, this game is frustrating but I don't think it's bad: I've read people online quitting this game out of frustration and I can see why but I do recommend to give it a shot and see for yourself. I won't lie that some trophies, like defeating the boss of chapter 3 without getting hit or dying, was a major pain in the butt due to the fact that, if you accidentally die, you can't start over but instead go to the next level. I had to re-download my save file from the cloud a dozen times to get it done! Anyway, now that my Trek is over is time to relax. 7 more to go for my 200th. What should I go next...

Popular Post DesmaBR
#209 The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie THE LEGEND OF HEROES Obtained all trophies. Back in 2020 I had finished Trails of Cold Steel IV, a game that I did not enjoy very much. It was not only the final Cold Steel game, but it was the end of many plot lines that started from even the first game. It was ambitious, but I did not like the way it all ended. But while I was playing that game in 2020, this game came out in Japan. Back when, I though "Ok, maybe this game will be it, maybe they felt bad about the way the last game turned out and decided to make this one to fix it up." Shame on me, because turns out this does not make the previous better... quite frankly, this just makes everything worse. I do not like where this story is going, and this game is a special kind of dumb that I was hoping they wouldn't stoop this low. But here we are. At least the Kuro teaser is pretty cool. Kuro seems way more up my alley.
Popular Post JoaLoft
#306 - Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (PS5) Seeing as how this was supposed to be an easy autopop from my PS4 trophy list, but it only carried over partially and I had to replay the entire game a few times to get it on PS5, this is going to be an abridged platinum post. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Ethan goes looking for his missing wife, ends up in an ostensibly abandoned mansion in Louisiana and gets captured by its deranged Baker family. Crazy stuff happens, people die and revive, Ethan runs all over the house trying to find his wife and the exit, being chased by daddy Baker, mommy Baker, Baker shithead Lucas and there's also a very eerie granny in a wheelchair (who plays a very pivotal role in the story, no spoilers). Ethan finds weapons, defends himself, solves puzzles and visits multiple key locations before he reaches the end. Very solid game, atmosphere is excellent, playing it with headphones on may give you heart issues, boss fights are great. Resident is very Evil. No real cons. The only real con? I wanted an even longer story, that's how much I enjoyed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. 10/10 Would let Ethan get his hand cut off again. Most frustrating trophy - ... NONE! You'll need to play through the game multiple times to unlock the miscellaneous trophies such as speedrunning the game, using 3 medkits or less, obtain collectibles over multiple playthroughs, but you unlock special weapons later to help get through the game easily and destroy everything with a few hits. And it's an amazing game which can be completed in around three hours if you speedrun through it, so no trophies felt frustrating as such.
shadaik
#93 My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure Alicorn Status This is not going to make any sense for anybody not knowing the series, so let's go: Pony Hitler is back! A series of vandalism acts during festival preservations (because in the current series, there is not a day without some festival going on) predictably leads to him inciting racial unrest between the ponykinds. neverminds the victims are also of all races and the eyewitness accounts don't add up... Unlike the previous series, the current MLP is geared completely to kids (or rather, far younger kids than before) and so the story is not that interesting. But it does fill its two hours fine enough. Still, this is the ideal Extra game, one I would not pay for otherwise but am happy enough to have played. Overall, it's fine. Fun: 6/10 Length: 4/10 Platinum: 2/10 #94 Coffin Dodgers Retirement Alright, time to compensate for the age drop! In more ways than the obvious one. Coffin Dodgers is a racing game with geezers riding mobility scooters against the Grim Reaper in a bet against death taking everybody in their retirement suburb. Losers become zombies in the later races. It's goofy in the best sense and I had blast with it. The whole thing harkens back to the days of the first two Playstations and the Wii when companies greenlit just about anything and a slew of incredibly weird niche titles were the result. Though it does also do so graphically, looking somewhere along the lines of a Wii game to the point I was surprised this is not a port. All in all, the developers knew exactly what they were doing and what kind of game they were making. An absolutely enjoyable experience that lives off nostalgia and charm. Could have been better (e.g. the different drivers could have made for different vehicle behaviours) and has no hope of making any kind of impact, but despite a teased sequel, it's very obviously not trying to be the next Gran Turismo. It's a kart racer and an unapologetically dumb one at that. Fun: 7/10 Length: 5/10 Platinum: 2/10

Popular Post Valzentia
#184 - Scene It? Bright Lights! Big Screen! Difficulty: RNG/10 Fun: With people/10 I played a lot of Nickelodeon Scene It? back in the day, but never an actual, standard Scene It? game...until I picked up Bright Lights! Big Screen! because it had a platinum trophy. It's a pretty RNG based platinum because you never know what questions you're going to get and all that crap, but if you're a film buff (or use a cheat sheet) then I really wouldn't call it a difficult platinum, just grindy as fuck and slightly annoying (especially if you aren't super into movies; especially those from the period from when this game came out). I'd actually recommend playing it if you have friends, because it's a damn fun party game...I just don't think it's very entertaining when it's just you grinding out trophies.
Popular Post RoastedPeanut
#230 - Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS4) A Realm Restored Difficulty: 5/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Time to platinum: 795 hours I've been playing this on and off for the past 9 years and I have to say I'm glad I've stuck with it because its an amazing game. I usually don't care much for MMO's or online games in general, but this one really stands out. The community is pretty damn awesome. For someone that can occasionally feel a bit anxious about gaming with others the community in FFXIV is one that for the most part is very friendly and willing to work with those who are doing a raid for the first time. If I'd spent my time focusing entirely on just going for the platinum the 795 hours of game time would have been much shorter, but there's just that much to do that I found myself always being distracted by something else. One thing to note is that if you want to go for the platinum one particular trophy requires a minimum of 6 months to obtain.

Popular Post Redgrave
#285: From the Ashes - Remnant: From the Ashes I can't believe they made Dark Soul with gun real. I did see that Remnant II was being received well and it looked cool so I figured I would play this one. It was better than I was expecting even with the jank although I think it's acceptable jank and I am sure or hope that the sequel irons out those issues. I also guess it's not accurate to say it is Dark Souls with guns although it is a Souls-like kind of game but it thankfully is more ideal for co-op since you aren't restricted to just doing an area that you haven't beat a boss in. It also has an interesting setting where I guess it starts off in a post-apocalyptic 1960's (or at least the apocalypse started then from what I could gather) Earth and then it goes into a desert world and then a fantasy type forest. It's pretty neat and has some variety to the levels. Honestly apart from the jank the only issue I have with the game is the bosses aren't too great imo. The bosses themselves are fine however almost all but very few have it where they summon mob enemies and it made fighting them more annoying than it should have. I think I get why they have the mob enemies though and it's so you can get ammo back but I still think they could have done something different because I really don't like bosses with mob enemies. Aside from that it's a pretty good time and the trophies aren't too difficult with the only one that is seemingly difficult is one where you have to beat a boss without getting damaged however you can get around that by doing a bell puzzle on a wolf boss in one of the later areas. If anything I'm surprised they didn't have a trophy for each boss since there are a lot of bosses.

It's too bad the follow up, American Nightmare, is difficult to find legally due to licensing issues. It's basically the first game, but a bit tighter on the set up and with a couple improvement tweaks. Maybe we'll get it as a remake eventually.
