PerryToxteth
Forgot to add this to my review of Mudrunner. Here's a pic from my game proving the developers have a sense of humor. The Mission is called "Visit Grandma" and your task is to drive Grandma's house in a frickin' Lada!! Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #1: Life is Strange (Final Day) It happened that I got the in this game. I was hooked by the story and wanted to know what's happening next. Speaking of story, I will put the following in a spoiler. Only open if you either have played the game or don't care for any story spoilers regarding the game. I already retold episode one in my first review but I won't retell the other epidodes. Instead I want to focus a bit on the major themes the game discusses, which are mobbing, depression and such things as well as time travel and butterfly effect. During one of the epsidodes you have to face a student wanting to commit suicide. You aren't guaranteed succes and deppending on what you say, she might jump or not. Even it only is agame this situation is not an easy one. The games let's you know this by not allowing to rewind time this time. Previously you could just go back and try again if something didn't went after plan. But like in real life you can't just rewind until you prevent somebody from commiting suicide. What led up to this situation was a girl being bullied by her class mates. Having the feeling that nobody is there for you can lead to such situations. That's why you should allways get help for people you think they might need it. The game tries to teach you for real life. It even has a line regarding that matter at the end of the episode. Regarding the time travell I was imediatly reminded of the movie Butterfly Effect. Just like in the movie, Max tries to change everything to be better but keeps making everything worse. The tiniest change in the past can have major effects on the present/future. Even after I thought now everything is ok, the game showed me another big consequence of what I did. It feels that the game wants you take the "sacrifice Chloe" ending because it would mean the time would go how it should be. Preventing Chloe being shot is the moment where everything started. Preventing her death means changing the flow of time to not foreseeable consequences. So it seems logical that you should sacrifice Chloe. Another reason is that there are several situations in the game where Chloe dies, all prevented by Max with her power. It seems that Chleo is destined to die. Still I decided to sacrifice Arkadya Bay instead of Chloe. After saving her that many times I couldn't just let her die, even if it means to sacrifice an entire town. I don't know if anybody survided that hurricane but it is possible. Now that the story part is done some other things. I like how the title screen changes a bit with each episode you complete. It show that everything gets worse. I liked the game a lot, otherwise I wouldn't have completed it in the 4 days I had with the game. The story is great in my opinion and the theme is interesting especiall because I like Butterfly Effect. It's nice to read all the pieces of paper you can find and look at all the pictures. It makes the world feel alive and progressive as it mentions things that happened in the newspapers. The only thing I didn't like that much was the art style. It just looked weird at times. Also in one scene Max' lips wouldn't move anymore when she was talking. Except from that I didn't encounter any bugs. Trophy wise I can say that almost every trophy is missable. Only the ones for completing an episode can't be missed. The rest is for taking photos during the game. In your diary you have a page for the photos which show for what you have to look. I doesn't tell you where though. If you miss one you can get it in collectable mode, where you can play each chapter of each episode. Before starting the chapter it shows you how many photos there are to be taken and how many you have. Time played: About 2-3h per episode, totaling to 10-15h. Maybe a bit longer Trophies: 61/61 Rating:
Popular Post kingofbattle8174
Game 2 :Attack on Titan 2 1/40 1% Last PCG: 49.61% Current PCG: 48.88% (-.73%) Playtime 45mins I am an awsome father, lol. I introduced my stepdaughtet to anime at an early age, and she is still hooked. For her 18th birthday in Aug, I got her this game. I had the first one for a few years now and she loved it. I never got around to playing it but watched a few times. She has been begging me to try this one out. And I have finally made good on my promise. The story in this version is slightly altered. While in the first one you followed the anime almost exactly. This one differs because you create you own character and your story flows alongside the normal one. The character creation is good enough. Mine is a bad ass with a cowboy hat, blonde hair and blue eyes. Goes by Cloud Strife. My favorite part right now is zooming around in the ODM gear. It is a blast to do. I have yet to get a real firm grip for the combat system. So since I never played the first, I missed out in the chance to get the trophy for getting first place during the training mission. Looking at the guide though, you can unlock it later to return to it. Something else to do once you buy better gear. And that is the crux of the game. It not a game that can be done quickly. It is a good sized story and then sized missions. Going back getting an S rank in everything and you can only unlock the best stuff by beating the hardest difficulty. I think the guide gave it a 5/10 and abouy 100 hours to 100%. Well just about one down and many gory ones to go.
Popular Post Dethfuse
I'm replacing my original number 2 game, Mothergunship, with Overcooked 2 because my disc for Mothergunship is apparently broken and the game will not install. Overall I played about 3 and a half hours of Overcooked 2. The game is basically the same as the first game. Still a lot of fun. I managed to get through the first three worlds and get all the stars solo. Things started getting a lot more difficult to do solo in the fourth world. This is one of those games that is a lot more fun to play in co-op. My friend who I know owns the game didn't feel like playing it this weekend unfortunately. In the end I managed to get 7 trophies. 4 Silver and 3 Bronze. Definitely plan on getting back to this game. Especially if anyone wants to play co-op. In remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI. "11-11 Memories Retold" is Game No.4 for me ( as long as they aren't charging some ridiculous price for it). I just read Joseph Persico's book "11th Month, 11th Day, 11th Hour" and it was quite engaging. His book revolves around the last day and the unexplainable reality that troops were still going over the top on that morning. Generals fully knew the war was ending at 11 a.m. but nobody bothered rescinding the attack orders. Young lieutenants kept the orders to make a name for themselves in hope of promotions. Germans in the trenches knew of the Armistice and were dumbfounded that they were seeing troops charging over no-man's land. True fact that is absolutely abominable - Allies took more casualties on 11/11/18 than they did 26 years later, on D-Day!! Shameful.
Popular Post Edunstar84
Game #2 - First Impression Playtime: 1 hour Trophies: 2/34 As I started the game, I couldn't help but think, "what can this game do to outdo the craziness of Steins;Gate?" To be fair I thought that, like Steins;Gate, some of the surprises might be left for later in the game because to be honest, the game was slow in the beginning. Not Chaos; Child! The beginning was super surprising. But a bit after, not so much. I got to the first choice you get in the game, and went the positive route. Not sure what would've happened if I went the other way, but I guess I might find out in a later run. Not much else to say otherwise. I'm still in the early parts in the 1st chapter, so I hope to get in a few chapters for a more complete final review.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #2 - Drive Girls - Preview Alright, this game is up next for me. It's one of those Action/Hack and Slash games similar to Action Unleashed or Megatagmension. The gimmick for this one though, is that your characters can transform into cars and battle in that form. The reviews for this were quite bad overall, so I'm not expecting much. Guess I'll find out, if I wasted 10€ on this soon enough. Popular Post Kevvik
Game #2: Full Throttle Remastered Initial Impressions Time Played: 3 hrs This is a remaster of a classic point and click game that I admit to having played "back in the day". You play Ben, the leader of a motorcycle gang, in a day when motorcycles are an anachronism as the world has moved on to hovercars and more techhy stuff. The owner of the one remaining manufacturer in the US wants a bunch of bikers to come to a shareholders meeting to represent. His second in command has other ideas and you get accused of murder. Your job is to save the old guy's daughter and clear your name while getting revenge. Originally made by Tim Schafer for Lucas Arts, this remaster looks great and runs smooth. Mixing a small amount of action and timed scenes with a slightly non-traditional style of point-and-click, this is a game that has stood up pretty well. The puzzles are not quite the level of insanity like Monkey Island and are reasonably sensible to figure out. I found stuff coming back to me as I explored through so some puzzles moved quicker than they might otherwise. The voice acting is well done and the story enjoyable though a bit askew. Looking forward to wrapping this up. I did look at a few of the missables to save time for myself later though. Also, no time trial mode like other Double Fine adventures which is a plus. I'm enjoying my remastered revisit to this game. Trophies earned: 31/40, 68% for C rank Score so far: 7/10
Popular Post DamagingRob
Game #2 Rayman Legends- Day 1 Rayman is a very colorful 2d Platfomer. And a lot of fun. The end. It has many levels. And I mean many. I've played through more than 10, and don't even have 100 Teensies yet. Of which, there are a total of 700. All the levels from Origins are included, so it is just packed with content. There isn't much to the story, so far. A brief cutscene at the beginning shows there are new enemies, and a flying bug is ordered to wake our heroes up. Cut to Rayman and co. sleeping in a tree, and the bug slaps him out of it to the ground. And the first level starts immediately. Levels haven't been too long, so far. And have checkpoints sprinkled throughout them, in case you die. And since you can't take a whole lotta damage, is bound to happen. You can obtain a heart, which saves you from death if you're hit while you have one. Otherwise, you probably die. Each level has a number of Teensies in it. These are little blue dudes you can save, and some are hidden quite well. You're also graded at the end of the level, based on how many Lums you collected. Teensies and gold coins give you a fairly high number of Lums, and some are found throughout the level (collecting the purple ones first will give you more points). Depending on your score, you'll get a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Cup. You also will be rewarded with a scratch card between the silver and gold cups. These will give you a random reward, like more Lums, a creature (all are displayed in a room, and give you some Lums daily), unlocking a Rayman Origins level, or a Teensy. Lums also unlock more playable characters, at certain amounts. There are lots to choose from. Some appear to just be different skins of the same character, though. Then there's the online challenges section, where you try to get better scores than other people. Depending on your score in these, you can get a Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Diamond cup. Good luck with that last one. Lol. I managed to get a couple of golds and a silver yesterday. But diamonds look pretty tough.. I did manage to beat my friend's gold score for another trophy, though. Considering I just started and he's been playing awhile, maybe I will snag a diamond someday. There's also a multiplayer soccer mode called Kung Foot. But it's only local mutiplayer sadly. I got in, got the trophy, and will likely never touch it again. Anyways, that's about all I have to say for now. Will save talk about gameplay mechanics for the final review, since this is already getting to be a pretty long post. ^^; Time played: 5-6 hours? Trophy progress: 10/51 for 14% and a D rank.
Popular Post xFalionx
Game #1: 2064: Read Only Memories (PSVita) Final Review Total playtime: about 14 hours (guesstimate) Trophies: 24/65 for an A rank Completion: Overall - 65.01% -> 64.59% | -0.42% Current - 65.01% -> 64.59% | -0.42% The good: Visuals: Pixely indie look with much love and attention to detail. Looks great on the Vita. Audio: Very fitting futuristic OST. Much variety between character voices and overall above-average performance except for some stragglers. Great sound design. Spoiler Here's two samples from the OST. The first one is a track that plays during a story mission set in a dance club, the other is the opening theme of the game. Story: Gripping mystery about a kidnapped programmer and his latest project: a completely sentient robot. Story gets deeper throughout the game and great pacing makes it very enjoyable Setting: Cyberpunk but not as extreme as some other examples of the genre. Constant references to our time and explanations of the progress since then make the world believable and immersive. Generally not as dark and overpopulated as other cyberpunk worlds but still a world with its own share of troubles. Characters: Lots of different personalities that grew on me over the time. They Have a disposition towards you that changes based on your actions and seems to have consequences on later parts of the story. Replayability: With three dialog options for nearly every choice in the game along with very different character reactions and multiple solutions to puzzles, there's room for at least two fun playthroughs, if not a third one. I personally can't wait to see how a second playthrough will unfold since other parts of the story rely on the outcome of previous puzzle solutions. Trophies: A healthy mix between trophies for random things in the game that are not too far fetched, ending trophies, trophies for different puzzle solutions and the occasional minigame. Trophies unlock very regularly as opposed to early or late into the game, giving a constant feel of progress. The bad: Load times: Little to no loading while playing, huge loading times when entering the menu in order to save. Difficulty: Puzzles are usually very easy to solve and generally not very lengthy and complex. There are bad endings but these rarely ever happen and put you right before the moment you got it, resulting in no impact at all. I wish the puzzles were a bit more demanding but at least some solutions to dialog puzzles are a bit more difficult to get than the actual point and click puzzles. No multitasking: The game takes up all of the Vita's resources, thus you need to save and quit the game before updating your trophies, using your alarm clock or using any other feature of the Vita. Not a huge deal but still annoying. The ugly: Crashes: So far the game only crashed once for me and I only lost an hour or so of progress but since there's a trophy that requires you to beat the game without dying or loading, this could easily cost you half a dozen hours of progress. Generally, I think crashes are one of the worst possible things to happen during a playthrough and are a surefire way to ruin your fun. Text skipping: For one or two normal playthroughs it's not a big deal but in conjunction with the trophy mentioned above, having text skip at a speed where you can still manage to read it drags out further runs of the game and since you're taking longer to finish the game, there's more chances for the game to crash during that time. I must say, I really enjoyed this a lot more than I would have thought I would. I really like the setting and the characters as well as the way this game makes you think about what you say to characters. Some conversations with Turing made me realize that it would actually be pretty hard to communicate with a fully sentient robot since there's just so many assumptions drilled into our heads that end up clouding our judgement. Thinks like ownership or making use of the functions that such a robot provides create a sort of conflict between what seems right and what is actually right. For example when a stranger asks you about that robot and you reply that it's yours, it might seriously disappoint your sentient little friend. I also really like the story and I'm sad I didn't make it past chapter 4 during my time with the game. Luckily, I'm playing this on my Vita, so I'll likely get some more playtime during my PS3 slots but I'll definitely finish this game up after the event. Overall this game has been a very positive surprise. Rating: Next game: The Bridge (PSVita/PS3)
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #2: Full Throttle Remastered Final Impressions Time played: just under 4 hrs Ok, I'm going to wrap this up as I finished the game today. I'm also fighting migraine precursor so I don't even know if I'm going to be gaming anything else today or tomorrow. I enjoyed running through Full Throttle again. As I said earlier, the story still holds up although for a LucasArts game, the story was kind of short. With a guide I'm betting this could probably be sped through in less than an hour and a half so maybe it wasn't a great choice for this event but I had been looking at it in my backlog for a while now so I said why not. It ends a little abruptly, leaving an opening for a return to the characters which (in over 20 years) hasn't happened. Still, a fun game with pretty rational puzzles (for a point and click) and the timed sections weren't bad. All in all, fun was had and ultimately, that's all that matters. Trophies earned: 40/40, 100% for S rank Final score: 7/10 Completion rate: 81.86% (-0.03% for the event) Next up: Game #3: White Day: a labyrinth called school

It doesn't break any new ground in terms of gaming, but it's worth a go. Little kids will probably love it. I started off on Hard mode and played all the way through to defeating X'tabay (who I will admit owned me quite a few times). However, even in Hard mode you have infinite lives, respawn relatively close to your death point, and health during exploration is never a large concern. As a side note, getting a 400+ hit combo gains you $780. Nothing is gained beyond that (made to around 13500-hits before I stopped). Just something to keep in mind for any of you who play it. Popular Post kingofbattle8174
Attack on Titan Day 2 5/40 7% Last PCG: 49.61% Current PCG: 49.01% Playtime 4 hours Let the gore fest continue. Now that I have gotten down how to properly use the combat system, I can reign death from above. Crafting is also a major component. Make better blades, sheaths, and ODM gear to make your self into a complete boss in the field. It is the only way to get those S ratings for each mission. You can also build based for different needs. Be it just a general resupply for gas and blades, mining for better materials, or my personal favorite Controllable Artillery stikes?. Nothing is more satisfying than shooting a titan in the face with a cannon. Also environments are destructible, so collateral damage be damned. Shoot through the building to kill it. This game requires patience. As after 4 hours I have only completed the first chapter which ends at the end of Trost. I wonder though now that season three is out, will they make a DLC or is there a game three in the future. If its the later, I think people are going to get bored quickly of going through everything from the beginning another time. It is great for nee comers, but veterans will begin to gripe.
DragonQuest238
Day 5 of Game 1: Just finished Chapter 1, got to Chapter 2, got a lot of new stuff. And a trophy, so now the completion is 11%. To be honest, I may end up selling one of the games on this list because, well, you know how 90% of the people on this forum are playing Red Dead Redemption 2 now and dropping out of events because of it? Well, I have my own version, and that's Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I am going to work on it day in and out when it comes out and I pick it up from Gamestop(I got a free pre-order for it) and plan to platinum all three games before Christmas, but I spent over $110 on Super Smash Brothers games($58 for the pre-purchase of Ultimate and $38 for the 3DS Smash so I could practice my moves) so I am worried I won't have enough money in my bank account to keep me out of the red this month so I'll have to trade in some of my games to mitigate the $40 price tag and FFXII will probably one of the games I trade in. I know, I know, that was terrible budgeting on my part but I am planning on enjoying Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when it comes out the day after my birthday. I'll still participate in the event until the 13th and then let you know how I fare. Edited November 6, 2018 by DragonQuest238
Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #1 - Bloodborne () - PS4 I'll just come out and say it, this game is an artistic achievement for the system and if it's the kind of game you can get in to then it's a must play. Bloodborne is a western style RPG by From Software, makers of the Dark Souls series. Though this game is a stand alone title it does tend to get clumped in with the Souls series when talking with series veterans. I've never played any of the Souls games, the only game by From I've played is 3D Dot Heroes (which is still pretty tough in it's own way ). I found Bloodborne to be an unwelcoming game at first, mechanics are poorly or just not explained and the story at first seems minimal. You create a character who goes through a blood transfusion procedure for some reason and wake up or are whisked away to some alternate universe Gothic city and you're a hunter and it's the night of the hunt. Most everyone else who isn't locked up inside has been exposed to some vague plague making everything beastly and the story is opened up slowly by exploring the area. It's an RPG with an action oriented interface. You dodge-roll around with Circle, attack with your primary and offhand weapons with the shoulder buttons. L1 "transforms" your weapon into a more cumbersome, longer range variant of itself. Neat . Square uses a selected item and the d-pad cycles through your equipped weapons and items. Combat works well and there are advance tactics you'll eventually pick up. When you find certain lamps or die (and die you will) you can transport back to "the Hunter's Dream", an inter-dimensional safe space where you can spend your currency (Two main currencies I've found; blood echoes and insight) to gain levels or purchase items or repair and fortify your weapons. When you die you lose all your blood echoes, which sucks but if you go back and kill the guy who killed you then you can get them all back which is a fun and fair trade-off. The graphics and music are excellent and really work well together to create a bleak, Gothic environment. The enemy character models are well detailed and wonderfully macabre. The giant rats and crows genuinely make me a little queasy. If I were to make any critique it would be that the game could give more instruction and direction at the start of the game. There were side quests in this game I wouldn't have even been aware of if I hadn't been looking up information on the web. I'm not going to ding the score at all because it's clear that was a deliberate choice by the devs to trade off inviting for intriguing and given the general success of this title and the dark souls series they've certainly found their market with that formula. I made it past the first two bosses and into the next proper area and I'll certainly give the game a genuine attempt to complete. I would recommend this game to anyone interested. Even the intentionally vague facade can be helped with online resources. If you're just looking for an easy plat then this game probably isn't for you. Popular Post SolarCat02
Played one last night of Aven Colony to try out the next scenario. It adds different challenges and increases hazards as you progress, and it gave me a new building type to start Expeditions beyond the colony which was a feature I was eagerly awaiting. Although I suspect this will lead to even more micro managing... Unfortunately before I could build it I got stuck in a menu. The exit button that usually got me out took me to a different menu to save my game or quit to the main menu. So did any other button I pushed. So... That's it for Aven Colony for me this month. I will go back to it at some point. I did enjoy it, when in the right mindset. But not rushing back after arguing with that menu bug on top of fighting with the creep that was destroying all my buildings including the scrubbers I set up to clean it off. So next game for me tomorrow.

There are 7 bosses in the game and they look all very nice. The graphics are great and the gameplay is pretty nice too. The only problem is, that you have no idea where to start and don't know how to even kill the bosses and what attacks you have. At first I hated the game for this because I didn't understand any of it. After looking for a guide I restarted my playthrough and changed the difficulty from 'normal' to 'easy'. I watched how to kill the bosses and then it was a great game for me. Even on easy it's a challenge to kill them without dying. Everything great so far till the last boss. I kept dying and I started hating the game again. After an hour I managed to defeat him and finished the game in 2.5 hour. After that freeplay had to unlock but unfortunately it didn't for me. So my enjoyment and hate at the same time for this game stopped. That's why I decided to no complete the full 3 hours into the game. Conclusion: Great game if you're looking for a challenge and love to be thrown into the deep end this is a great game for you. Definitely not an easy 100% game but if you love fighting over powered bosses, this is the game you're looking for. It's a very short game with only a few storylines. But very, very hard! So I kind of want to know, if they've at least put some effort into the new areas, or if they are just recycled with a different paint job or the likes. Well, as I see it they're doing a bit of a reorganisation now that they're independent. The base game is the base game because story-wise, it makes sense to keep the training facility as the tutorial. Then you can dive into season one, and canonball season two after that. In any case, S2 seems to have the same number of locations as S1, plus at least one location for Sniper Assassin mode. The game will not be released episodically, but it's still divided into episodes (which seems to make sense with Hitman as it's mission based in different locations). I've also noticed that none of the locations in S2 (save for the tutorial, or "base game") are locations from S1. Also, one location has the mastery trophy at level 5 and one has it at level 15, indicating that these might be either smaller locations, or more railroaded ones, or containing less targets. Anyway, I'll definitely let you know. I hope someone, anyone I like on PSNP also goes for the game so I can do the online stuff with that person instead of a random one. Not that it looks like there's anything needed for online trophies other than playing the game online once.
Popular Post DragonQuest238
Final Day(Dark Cloud 2): Sadly can't advance the story because I was reminded that the third stage of Rainbow Butterfly Wood is smacked dab with a Red Seal so I can only use Monica in that stage... and I haven't even touched her yet. (Not in THAT way, keep your mind out of the gutter! ) So my next order of business is upgrading her weapons by grinding out the first stage for ABS. I just upgraded Steve and swapped out his lousy robot arms with a cannon so I can snipe enemies from afar and save fuel by avoiding damage. Also started the journey towards the LEGEND hammer with a lowly Battle Wrench. Total Hours played over the six days: I don't keep track, maybe about 10? I blame the 2nd day because I had hindsight and forgot to repair Steve. Ending Impressions: I was reminded why I didn't play the original Dark Cloud before Dark Cloud 2. (Well, that and I didn't see it in stores when I started with this game.) The graphics are muted but beautiful in their own right. While I played on mute, I still recall the lovely background sounds and music. And the gameplay retains the Dark Cloud mechanic but isn't as annoying, and the Ridepod breaks the game. (Already my cannon arms are doing average 100 points of damage to enemies in the second dungeon, which have more defense than the robots and rats in the Underground Channel.) Future Plans: I do intend to continue exploring this game on my own once I Kill My Completion because I've gotten close to platinum before, it's just that 100% medal collection is going to be hell, especially in the last two dungeons because Item only and Monster Transformation (once I unlock it) will be very time-consuming and the latter will be the worst grind until I get a Holy Gemron(which is the only monster you should ever use because it has a ranged attack) so I might get disillusioned again, but it'll be a great journey and I'll get lots of help because I want this game to get in my platinum list. Final Game Trophy %: 11% (6/31) Completion drop: 0.73% Next week, I plan on doing Kingdom Hearts re:Chain of Memories. I've already logged into the 358/2 Days save file so I will be able to get the special cards you unlock with that file. Popular Post eigen-space
Syberia 3 Start of Day 6 - Game Completed (Approximate Play Time: 18 Hours, 41 of 41 Trophies - 100% for S Rank) (Current Overall Completion - 94.42%, +0.07%) Well, not much more to say about this game aside from that my fears about the trophy list were completely well-founded. Had to completely restart halfway through because I had missed one dialogue option at the very beginning of the game for a trophy that doesn't pop until close to the halfway mark. SIGHHHHHHHH. That being said, if anyone ever wants a list of the tasks in the order you need to do them to get your trophies, let me know as I've made myself a road map this second time around to make sure I don't miss anything. Currently the best guide out there is a list of requirements for each trophy, but it doesn't put anything in order so you're bound to forget something along the way. And don't trust the guides for other platforms-- their requirements are different from the PS4 version. I'd make a guide myself, but I barely have energy to even play games at the moment... maybe I'll come back to it at some point... but probably not ANYWAY. Playing through the beginning of the game again was so tedious. No dialogue skip options and there's a ton of dialogue, some of which has really annoying voice acting ? Needless to say, I played almost the rest of the game with the TV on mute, which is a shame because the sound effects and music are actually quite good. As I mentioned in my original post, one of the things I liked best about the first two games was how Kate (the main character) developed as an individual. However, this game has even spoiled that aspect of the first two games because you come to realize that Kate doesn't actually grow as a person... she just has a lust for adventure and follows that to where it takes her; the first two games give her relatable reasons why she shouldn't be adventurous (boyfriend back in town misses her, mother misses her, her high-paying job is waiting, etc) versus the reasons this game gives her (the government is going to shoot you dead!), but she basically just ignores everything going on in her "real life" to satisfy her curiosity and adventure-seeking behaviors. By the way she goes about things in this game, it's very apparent that the only changes that have happened to her personality are that she's more self-assured and resolute in the way she's always been. There were a couple parts that got me a little bit emotional, like being able to pet the giant, fluffy ostriches and... Spoiler RIP Captain Obo ? RIP Oscar.... again ? but overall this game just made me angry. Not because of good story writing, mind you, but because of all the buggy-ness of it. Once I got to Baranour Park, all hell broke loose with the game crashing. Any time I decided to run, CRASH! Any time there was a cutscene, CRASH! CRASH CRASH CRASH. Like, wtf game? The worst one was when it CRASHED during an autosave, corrupting my data and setting me back to my last PS+ upload (several hours lost). I'm not sure if this is just a problem with the physical disc or if it's also a problem with the digital version, but DAMN. By some stroke of luck I was able to actually get through that section.... I honestly thought I wasn't going to be able to make any more progress because it kept crashing in the same place during the same cutscene, but spamming the pause button during the cutscene seemed to do the trick. (note-- I tried to estimate what my playtime would have been without the crashes and save corruptions) Interesting thing, though... I thought I had read somewhere that Syberia 3 was going to be the last game, but the ending makes it seem like there may be more in the future... not that I'm sure I WANT to play another Syberia game after this buggy mess, though... Final Thoughts-- Was hoping this game would be a vast improvement on the first two games as it was created over a decade later while also being available for multiple consoles at release (rather than being a PC port), but it seems like they wanted to keep the undelightful buggy-ness of the first two games going strong for this sequel. Unfortunately, the charm of the first two games didn't translate into this one as Kate doesn't develop much as a character (though she still remains as bad-ass as ever!). The only thing that was even moderately impressive was the soundtrack and the cutscene visuals (that is, if you could make it through the cutscenes without the game crashing). Overall, don't waste you're time and money. If you're curious how Kate's journey ends, just watch some YouTube videos. Really excited for my next game tomorrow: In the meantime, I'm going to try to play a little bit of Ni No Kuni II in hopes of maybe getting the current DLC trophies from the Adventure Pack. Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #2: Zero Escape: The Nonary Games (Day 2) Zero Escape: The Nonary Games contains the first two games of the Zero Escape series. Those are 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Virtue's Last Reward. I started with 999, which is the first game. In 999 you are trapped on a ship with 8 other people. Your goal is to escape in 9 hours by finding the door with a 9. Nobody knows why they are on the ship nor how exactly the got on it. The gameplay consists of two parts. One is a Visual Novel with your occasional option to choose one of several answers and the other is an escape room. Nothing special about the VN part. It's just for advancing the story of the game. During the escape room parts you are in a room and have to find the exit. Normaly the exit is right infront of you but you need a key card to open it. To get this key card you have to search the room for clues. You can collect objects that will be needed to solve puzzles. For example you need to find a code to open a lock. In whatever you opened with that code you find something else that will help for another part of that room till you finally find the key card. During these escape rooms are also dialogs which will help in finding solutions for the room. That's basically all there is to the game. During the VN parts you come to points in the story where you have to decide which way to take. There the story will splitt but might connect later in the game again. You can look at a flow chart to see how many ways there are and if or where they connect again. You also can select every previous played part and replay it to go the other ways you missed. Seeing that basically every trophy in this game is for reaching one of the endings or seeing everything I don't know if I will be able to get one during the 4 days with the game. I try to finish at least one playthrough of 999 but I won't start with Virtue's Last Reward as I want to complete the first game before playing the second. Time played: Maybe 2-3 hours Trophies: 0/38
Popular Post Edunstar84
Game #2: Final Review Playtime: 3+ hours Trophies Earned: 2/34 Story: I didn't get as far as I wanted to. I'm still on Chapter 1 (I read VNs, I don't skip them). Well, the protagonist and others survived an earthquake that happened in Shibuya sometime ago. The main guy (forgot his name) finds out that murders that preceded the earthquake are linked to some killings that have been happening in the present. One of which, he and his childhood friend sort of witness. Gameplay: Like some VNs, you get to somehow influence the story. In Chaos;Child, there are positive and negative triggers, you can choose. So far I've only chosen positive triggers, which doesn't really influence the plot, so I'm a bit confused how that will play once I get further into the game. The positive responses I've chosen so far are perverted scenarios dreamed up by the protag. Recommend: No, not really. The Steins;Gate series are better, as I'm sure are Zero Escape series - haven't played any of them yet. Though my review might change once I finish the story.
Popular Post xFalionx
Game #2: The Bridge (PSVita) 1st day Total playtime: about 1 hour and 15 minutes So far The Bridge is a fun puzzle game with platforming elements, as I'd call it, with an artistic black and white artstyle that actually looks a lot better inside the game than in the little banner because of the beautiful way everything is animated. The game seems pretty short as I've already almost managed to finish the games four main stages during my short time in transit today. There are however mirrored versions of these stages that are said to be much harder than the normal ones, so I may or may not get some more 2064: ROM playtime depending on how well I do with this game. The game is separated into multiple stages consisting of multiple puzzles each. The goal is to reach a door that can be locked by one or multiple keys and/or pressure plates. To accomplish this, you can walk either to the left or right at a snail's pace, or tilt the level itself by pressing and . By doing so you can collect the keys needed to unlock the door but there's also hazards in the game, which are big wrecking ball-like spheres which instantly kill you when you run into them. Luckily they are completely in your control as they are controlled by gravity and gravity is controlled by you. These balls can also be used to trigger pressure plates. Later stages introduced vortexes which suck in any object that gets too close, including the player, and prevents them from moving. In some cases they can be turned off using a pressure plate (or on their own) but that's rare. Usually you'll have to press in order to rewind time Prince of Persia style in order to escape once you or an important object gets caught within one of these. A more complex mechanic introduces black and white versions of each object which obey different gravitational rules and can only be interacted with if the player has the same color. In all of these levels there are certain spots where you can flip upside down, changing your color and reversing gravity for you. Stage four adds objects that have their own gravitational rules that can be controlled separately if you move your character into a little box. Sounds pretty complicated but it works pretty well and I think the game does a good job of making you figure out how each new mechanic works at the first level of each stage. These levels, by the way, look a bit like this: Spoiler So they end up working really well with the artstyle and add an additional layer of difficulty by making you think outside the box. The start of the game was pretty easy but the game gradually gets more difficult. At the point where I'm at right now (level 4-5) it feels very satisfying to complete a level but it's nowhere near an impossible feat. Overall, I'm having a lot of fun with this game, although I feel like it's gonna be a bit too short for my taste.
