When I started my bachelor degree I was on the peak of my turnover of plats and on the lowest when I was doing my thesis. Since I got to be a Dad, I was not able to raise the numbers anymore :). For a good reason though. Maybe one day I can work on my backlog with my kid(s) :).

I edited the OP, with the rest of the platinums that I earned this year. I ended up with 32, breaking the record of 2015 (29). In terms of number of platinums earned, this was my best year. In terms of both quantity and quality combined, 2015 was still, possibly, my best year, although I always try to keep things balanced.

-Guide and walkthrough writers. I much prefer games that don't require me to glance at my phone every few minutes for a meaningless collectible (I know, trophies themselves are also meaningless) but since many developers enjoy adding secrets and missable trophies, my deepest thanks to all you fine gents and ladies who take the time to help us out! This coming from a guy who used to type, print, and send out game guides to magazines in the pre-internet era!;

 

-My kids, who leave me too drained to do much else than gaming once they're in bed;

 

-My wife, who has a tendency to fall asleep early enough that I can grab a few hours of gaming every night;

 

-My Vita, the few developers still supporting it, and a long commute.

 

Here's to a 2020 where I'll complete the 1000 (literaly,the exact number!) games on my backlog before a PS5 rolls into my life!

2018 - 28 (Horizon and the Spyro trilogy, Darksiders and Akiba's Beat. I did sully myself with autopopping Sound Shapes twice and getting Mayo twice plus playing some easy plats. Decided not to do that in future if I don't enjoy a game)

 

2019 - 23 (Started with one of the greatest platformers ever made ASTRO BOT! PLAY THIS GAME!!, other highlights were the Neptunia Rebirth games 1+2, Dragon Quest 11, Dragon Quest Builders 2 and replaying the Shenmue games)

 

2020 - just Spider-Man so far, probably Creed next. Going to try for 24 a year from now (My love for JRPGs that take hundreds of hours does limit me somewhat, but VR games played for love tend to be quite quick plats, so we'll see)

 

As you can tell, couldn't be bothered looking up rarity.

Somehow managed to maintain a consistent pace this last 5 years without even thinking about it or going out of my way to get more platinums. Also, while I do love a good visual novel every now and then,(except for PS+ ones and Chaos;Child, which I really didn't like, regret spending money on and just skipped to platinum at some point) the most common platinum in the list is a Cat's Quest. Really proud to finally earn some rare platinum in case of Path of Exile. The game is everything I ever dreamed my Diablo will ever be.
