Popular Post GUDGER666
Been playing a lot of PS3 past few month's, 99% of the games on here require time and effort, even the easiest games. Also because most don't play PS3 anymore I'm constantly climbing the leaderboard. To get No 1 in UK i would have to earn the equivalent of about 320 plats, i could probably do that in a week on PS4, but on PS3 it will probably take me years. PS4 trophy hunting just doesn't feel good anymore to me because of how easy most games are. For every game i play on PS3 i could probably plat 50-100 games on PS4, it's just daft. I have nothing against the easy games, i have 100s of them from sales but just never really play them. Also on PS3 i can pick any game and not have to worry about large updates, and glitched trophies which are very rare on PS3, i feel the need to check every PS4 game for glitched trophies.
Popular Post Helyx
The feeling of finally laying a PS3 game to rest after getting 100% completion is extremely satisfying. Chipping away at a backlog 15 years in the making feels better than stacking a bunch of quick PS4 plats, no doubt.

I agree with you here. I miss those days on the PS3. Most games on there weren't easy or fast. They may have been bad or outdated by today's standards but they sure felt more rewarding.
Popular Post sepheroithisgod
Trophy hunting as a whole is more fun when you have to put effort and time into earning something. Trophy standards as a whole started lowering in the middle of the PS4 lifecycle. Just about every game nowadays doesn't even ask you to play the game on the highest difficulty, whereas it was a standard on PS3. I really don't understand why so many people flock to the next 5-minute platinum when it releases.

For me ps3 games are a lot better than ps4. Plus it helps that you can easily deupdate things too. so if there is a bug or something that helps you it can be used still and yeah. Lately been chipping away at ps3 games myself. it is more fun going for ps3 than ps4 games lately. Plus a lot of things such as FEAR 1 and Siren blood curse and alots of other games without trophies is just as good. saiyanbloodstyle
I get you on this and you're right, it's very rare that trophies are glitched on there and works as intended. I managed to get the PES 2012 platinum after 10 years, that was really satisfying, i may go back to some older games i never finished and platinum them too.
Popular Post DaivRules
PS3 era was a great time in history. When making a game for a console was difficult and developers really had to work hard to complete it, we ended up with significantly less, but generally more robust games. Those developers who already had to work harder to finish their game, also put that same hard work into trophy implementations. I'd really love to get a PS3 SDK kit out to some PS4/5 developers and watch them try to replicate their PS4/5 projects on PS3 and see how many of them would just give up. When PS4 switched to a dead-easy architecture (x86), it opened the flood gates to developers and since Sony never implemented any trophy standards in the first place, and it was the hardest working developers policing themselves during PS3, PS4 keep letting developers self-police and we ended up where we are. I'm happy that anyone and everyone can make and publish a game, that's a liberating thought. Nothing that happened on PS4 takes away from my PS3 experiences.
Popular Post AJ_Radio
I basically just spent a lot of money on Splatterhouse for the PS3. Disc only, no digital only version. An old hack and slash style game from 2010. Some people think I just wasted money, but I feel I gained something that is only going to get more expensive as time goes on. The PS4 generation really is my last gen that I give a damn about. And a part of that generation has already been polluted with crappy Breakthrough Gaming Arcade stacks, endless fluff, and a bunch of games that were just made for a quick buck. Sound quality also seems better on a number of PS3 games. I just hope to fucking Christ that we can still buy PS3/Vita games for a while longer, and keep online support, including trophy syncing.
Popular Post Rebourne07
For real man. The trophy ding was much louder and, don't kill me, I kinda liked the bated breath anticipation waiting to see if the trophy would pop after meeting the requirements.
mega-tallica
Yes, modern games aren't remotely as challenging as the PS3 era was as far as getting platinums. Developers figured out awhile ago that they'll sell more games if they simplified the trophy lists and that's where we're at now. Most AAA games these days aren't challenging at all and some don't even require you to play the game to 100% completion like Horizon 2. It's made modern trophy hunting much less prestigious and more trivialized which is why I've also been going back to the PS3 gen more and more lately. Also the fact the games themselves were better back then but that's just my opinion.
Vergil
Definitely agree. However there are alot of hard games on ps4 also with hard trophy lists. Probably depends on what you like. Though its true that there are far too many easy ones releasing on ps4 also. Lets not even start about ps5
Alpha-Strider
I've been playing mostly PS3 games for the last two years in an attempt to finally finish off the backlog and I have to say that I agree. I avoid the "easy cheesy" games that have released in droves since the PS4 came out but even aside from those finishing a PS3 game with a good trophy list just feels more rewarding somehow. It's not really a matter of difficulty, I just think lists for even AAA games on PS4 are more standardized. And the trophy notification on the PS3 is definitely still my favorite even if that is just nostalgia talking.
z99f
I share the same sentiments. The PS3 has always been my favorite console when it comes to trophies and it will (probably) forever stay that way. If I was chasing the leaderboards, I would have no choice but to spam easy PS4 games for trophies (nothing wrong with that either if it's something you enjoy... just not for me). Thankfully, I don't care about my leaderboard ranking so I can enjoy more fantastic PS3 games and take my time with them.

Popular Post a3069namebke
For all the bad that PS4 trophy hunting brought, at least the console chipped away at horrible online trophies. PS3 games had "reach max rank online" or "collect all online awards" trophies on the regular, especially within games that had tacked on multiplayer. Another good thing about PS4 trophy hunting is the relaxing of collectible trophies. A lot of games don't require you to get 100% of the collectibles or if they do, you have an in game map that displays them. Overall, I do agree that PS3 trophy hunting feels more satisfying. The games are better, and there are more challenging trophies (like beating the game on max difficulty) that just don't show up anymore on PS4.
J2VLegacy
Definitely do agree and many games do have those difficult trophies. Looking through the PS3 games I want to play, I feel I’ll enjoy them while earning trophies.
Apocasy
Good to know you are enjoying getting platinum trophies on PS3. An underrated system with amazing games too. Hoping to finish some of my PS3 games in the summer that have been sitting there for like 8 years or so. 1 hour ago, Fr_0zt said: It's the DING! I miss that sound Also this. Danyy___85
I had 47 platinums on my older account that was just PS3. I also loved a lot the PS3 back then, even now i still have games to play it on. And will continue to try and platinum a few games from the PS3 era. I also enjoy challenging games, PS4/PS5 has a lot of them. But it also has a lot of bullcrap games too with way to easy plats. I also bought a few of these more "Shitty" games just to increase my overall trophy stat but, it felt extremly pointless... I kinda feel my account a little waxed with these games ? Since i have also difficult plats like The Evil Within, Sports Champions, all Dark Souls games, Bloodborne and Demon's Souls for the PS5. Also some really hard 100% games like Shadow of Mordor DLC was a nightmare, and then i also have My name is Mayo on the list and some other really easy ones, that i look at them i'm not that prond of, because i didn't even like the games... Still Finishin this Road Fury tho, extremly grind and also hard for a simple indie game ? But yeah, i kinda miss the PS3 days... Still have some of the games there to play and plat and they will still take me some time to do so!
Vampirehunter145
I agree in part. PS3 games are more challenging and they demand more effort and requisites to plat. However, there are PS4 games with their own enchanting details and also they have their own level of difficulty. I have a big backlog on PS3 games and at this rythim, i will need years to plat/get the max amount of trophies of all of them. Right now i'm embarking on Okami. Yes it can be platinumed in one playthrough BUT i decided to play it twice. First one for the story and the lore, the second one to collect everything i'm missing. If everything goes well, the next one (digital of course) will be Resident Evil 6 with all the DLC (Christ, give me a hand with this). Rataclies
I still really enjoy my PS3. Love the game selection. Someone mentioned where you don't have to worry about updates. I just hate the fact that many games I won't be able to Platinum many games because the servers are offline. I think that Platinum Trophies should not require online trophies. If you want Online Trophies, make them apart of DLC trophies.
Popular Post DrBloodmoney
Can’t say I really preferred one over the other. To be honest, I think if you only play the games that appeal to you, and let your trophy hunting be dictated by your tastes, rather than the other way around, then there isn’t a huge amount of difference in terms of trophies from system to system. I do certainly appreciate how many more indie games were available on PS4 than the PS3, however, that’s more a symptom of the vastly increased indie scene and the PS4 just happening to coincide with that, than it is any specifics of the system itself, I’d imagine. That said, I do NOT like the slow-as-molasses trophy synching on the PS3! ?

When doing a hard trophy i will look for the HDD light then watch the trophy pop haha.
Popular Post JusttJD
That takes me back, damn. Back to a discussion where... - Hannah Montana - Terminator Salvation ... were considered easy platinums and "Shameful" as well. Those games are now incredible accomplishments comparing to some of the crap that's been in the store the past few years. Also, I will never forget my first platinum on my very first account. Fallout 3 in 2009. Damn, where did the time go... Edited April 27, 2022 by JusttJD
