Popular Post Viper
#263 Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy This is What We Do HOLY SLEEPER HIT BATMAN!....wait...wrong company. This. Game. Has. Absolutely. No. Business. Being. This. Fucking. AWESOME! Seriously, from the same studio who brought us The Avengers game that people hate so much, this is the complete opposite of that. It's a linear, story focused game. But every character has their role to play and they play it amazingly well. There's a lot of queue's taken from the MCU versions of the characters, while throwing in a bit of their own flavor, but if you're an MCU fan, you'll pick it up right away. Drax even sounds like Batista at times. Super solid story that's coherent and emotional, you will care about every character here. There's SO MUCH banter between these characters, there's rarely a silent moment in this game...someone is always talking or arguing or cracking jokes, even when just exploring someone has a question to ask or a little anecdote to say, maybe even a story to tell that gives you lore and backstory. You'd think the voice actors have known each other for years, the chemistry between them is perfect. The gameplay is a littttlllleee repetitive after awhile, it took me too long to realize that I'm not supposed to be just standing there shooting as Quill the whole time, the game wants you to spam special attacks and build up combos as you have a meter on the left side that builds up and gives you new phrases the better you do, but also falls as you get hit or stamper in combat, which gives you more XP the better you do...so you always want to find new ways to get that "MARVELOUS" mark at the end of a fight. I'd say the only real annoyance here were the collectibles. If you're not using a guide you WILL miss a bunch of them. Either they're way off the beaten path or they're just small and blend in with the surroundings to much and you'll walk right past them, and as a big over sight on Eidos' part...there's a Chapter select, but it doesn't help at all. You just revert back to where you were and what you had in the chapter at the time, and once you finish the chapter it just throws you back to the main menu. So at the very beginning I had to restart the game 3 times because I kept missing stuff I needed...finally just kept a PowerPyx guide open. Also, I assume this game looks good on PS4...but it's stunning on PS5. Absolutely gorgeous set pieces, and meticulous attention to even the most minor of details. I even made one of the screen shots I took my cover image on my PSN profile on PS5. Absolutely loved this game, I expected to have some fun...but they knocked it out of the park with this one. I'll be all over a sequel.

Popular Post guy_flies
"One True King" Ni No Kuni 2 Using quiet January to tackle some backlog games. The game is good (play it if you loved Dragon Quest XI) but the platinum is awful and I don't recommend it. I spent entire gaming days on the huge amount of side quest/activities and grinding to face the final challenge boss. 107 hours to plat but the story was finished in about 40.

Popular Post Moridin83
#191 Dead or School This is a Japanese indie from a 3 person studio, so set your expectations accordingly. The translation is rough at times, with typos and sentence structure that doesn't flow naturally. There are occasional issues with getting stuck on the game's architecture, even when walking on flat surfaces. You will occasionally lose track of your character when combat is too busy, or zoomed out too far. Despite all this, I largely still enjoyed my time with the game. The combat works well most of the time, and the variety of weapons and mods lets you significantly customize your playstyle. The story is very anime, but serviceable and endearing. The bosses can provide a decent level of challenge, especially if you do not fight every chance you get. I'm not sure I would have been happy at full price, but at around $15, I consider it worthwhile.
Popular Post CptToffer
Platinum #41 My Friend Pedro - 6.23% Rarity. Difficulty 6/10 Enjoyment 7/10 A really fun and clever game but good grief a couple of the levels that need S-Ranks, are quite frankly, awful. Guide says 5/10 difficulty but for those two or three levels that require utter precision and no mistakes, I'm bumping it up one in my books.

Popular Post Bratinov
Plat 72: Spider-Man: Miles Morales Difficulty: 3 Fun: 7 Grind: 2 It's a glorified expansion pack, it has at most a third of the original game's content. While I don't have a problem with this, a short game is refreshing, the value for money is just not there. I did like the story and characters. Plat 73: Bioshock Remastered Difficulty: 6.5 Fun: 8 Grind: none. One of the best narratives in gaming. It's twist rivals that of KOTOR. I don't recall the highest difficulty being this tough, though. Enemies are such bullet sponges towards the end, the only worthwhile weapon becomes the crossbow. Using special ammo makes most weapons effective, but it's so rare/expensive it's just not worth it. The shooting is dated, but the art style has aged really well. Aside from some audio level issues it's a fine port. Plat 74: Fallout New Vegas (ps3) Difficulty: 7 (it mostly tests your patience) Fun: 4 (would be a 10 on ANY other platform) Grind: 4 This is one of my favourite games of all time. It's also the most unstable piece of software I have ever dealt with. Nothing freezes my console like this, I have no idea how they were allowed to sell this. I managed to do everything (dlc included) on one save. Performance degrades as your savefile size grows. My savefile was a little over 9MB by the end, 3MB less than my Fallout 3 save and it still crashed and stuttered a lot more. I didn't use autosave and didn't override previous save files. It still crashed constantly and I lost tons of progress, but I manadged to do the trophies, I'm not saying this is the best way to do it, but it is possible. (Ultimate Edition Disc) If you're wondering how far you can take each Factons' quest chain before breaking the others, google "Hedging your bets New Vegas" - p.s: not my guide, it spoils the whole story. I've played the hell out of this on Xbox and PC, there's no way I'm not having it on my list. I'm kinda relieved now, I've been putting it off for sooo long, I guess my hopes for a remaster finally died. Popular Post whodeygamer
#26: Planet Coaster (PS4) This type of game brings back fond memories of my childhood. There was a time when I’d spend hours upon hours playing the Roller Coaster Tycoon games, not realizing where the time had gone in the process. I was hooked on those tycoon style simulation games, and I thought that they’d just continue to be a part of gaming for years to come. What I didn’t expect was that RCT3 would be the last big release the series would have (other than the garbage microtransaction filled abominations that have come out since). When I first heard about Planet Coaster being a spiritual successor to the RCT series (mainly 3), I knew I had to play it. I don’t do PC gaming much anymore, and even though I bought it on Steam at a really low price, I knew I wanted to play the Console Edition. While it took awhile to get used to how things work in this game compared to the RCT series, I still had a nostalgic blast. Whenever I manage to get a PS5, I’ll definitely get the plat in that one as well.

Popular Post PooPooBlast
#169 and 100% Borderlands 3 The Borderlands series is back with yet another entry, this time with more guns, more maps, more loot and a more refined gameplay relative to the previous entries. BL3 would've been the best borderlands to date if it was not for the questionable story moments. Spoiler Having Maya die to make room for Ava was such a stupid decision. Ava is a literal nobody that we just met so why the hell did they think it was a good decision to kill Maya off for this teenage girl... (AND especially considering Maya was my main in BL2...). I for one could not give a single flying fudge about Ava. Then to add insult to injury, Lilith is also gone and Ava was put in charge of the spaceship.. *sigh*. Lilith was my main from BL1 ?. WTF gearbox. Story shenanigans aside, I chose the gunner class simply because I love EXPLOSIONS, thanks to Mr. Torgue. It's just so damn fun spamming grenades and explosive weapons on goons. Aside from the main game there were a SHIT TON of DLCs that I feel like I have to briefly touch base on. Season Pass 1 Mad Moxxi Heist DLC: Here you get to visit a handsome jack-owned gambling facility which is a nice throwback to BL2. You have to help Moxxi take back a casino that Handsome Jack stole from her prior to his death. Was pretty solid. Guns, Love and Tentacles DLC: By far the best DLC in my opinion. Here you visit several Lovecraftian-inspired locations to help marry Jakobs (gun CEO) and Sir Hammerlock from BL2. Had a completely different vibe from the main game with memorable and distinct maps and locales. A must buy imo if you own BL3. Bounty of Blood DLC: While many thought this was the best DLC, I thought it was okay. Here you visit a western cowboy style themed location in pursuit of a bounty to kill someone.. That's it.. I feel like they could've done more to make this DLC better, not to mention it needed a bit more time in the oven as I ran into a couple of glitches including trophy trackers being stuck at 0%.. Season Pass 2 All season pass 2 DLCs were meh.. and some were even blegh! Psycho Krieg and the fantastic Fustercluck DLC: In this DLC you enter Psycho Krieg's mind who is a BL2 DLC vault hunter to learn more about his backstory. Therein lies the problem which is that so many people did not play as this guy in BL2 because he was DLC.. With that said, I didn't care whatsoever to learn more about his backstory. I was just going through the motions of entering a map, killing stuff, getting loot and getting out. Designer's cut DLC: The worst DLC by far imo. You drop off somewhere on a map without any gear or weapons and at the end, you have to kill the final boss. Basically, it's Gearbox's take on battle royale but for SP mode. I understand some people might like this sort of stuff but it's just not for me.. Director's cut DLC: In this final DLC, you go to 4 different locations to help Ava solve a series of murders. The content itself was okay but I'd say most of the potential enjoyment was chopped in half because of Ava. Literally, any other side character (Zer0, Marcus, Crazy Earl, etc.) would've been better as an alternative. So hey gearbox.. With all that said, Borderlands 3 was tons of fun but the main story could've been better. I also feel like they should've stopped with releasing DLCs after the first season pass because the decline in quality was very evident and at that moment, the game started to feel a bit bloated. Anyway, onto the next! Edited January 22, 2022 by PooPooBlast
Popular Post Deadly_Ha_Ha
#54 - Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! Difficulty - 5/10 Enjoyment - 5/10 This game is being added to the "Games I wish I'd liked more" list which is already a little longer than I would want. I'd always been interested in this game because I think the subgenre of Chibi Final Fantasy is slept on in the FF community. I'd been keeping this one in my pocket for a while now since I always wanted to be able to go "Ok now I feel like doing CMD" after a tough project as something to sit back and enjoy for however long it would take me casually. All due respect to the guide writer for this game but the 120h estimate is very off; it took me 89h and even then there was game time spent idling while I noodled about doing whatever else. But 90 hours can still be a lot when the game feels like it lacks variety and this game couldn't have been made with much variety in mind. That's honestly fine because the core gameplay carried it for probably like 70 hours but the last 20 hours I spent grinding the more tedious parts of the platinum became a lot less enjoyable. By the end I was like "Ok I'm gonna miss on some sleep tonight because I don't even want to have to sit through work tomorrow thinking all day about getting this game done finally, I'm just gonna slam this bitch here and now." When you lose sleep from playing a game because you want it to be over, maybe that's not the best place to be on the enjoyment scale. All the same there were also moments - days even - when I couldn't put the game down. Progressing in this game, getting better gear, combining different abilities onto your weapons and armor, and then kicking your opponents' asses (since you're a bird and kicking is your primary attack) was something that I just wanted to keep doing. It was really only once the game was over and the postgame started and the progression slowed down a lot that I felt the grind begin. There's a lot of RNG in this game. The game functions on drops from enemies and while there are a lot of dungeons that let you take everything you have with you, there are also a lot of challenge dungeons that strip you of everything except your class and its level. Having a level 8 class makes those dungeons easier, but having to rely on random weapons and armor on the dungeon floors, or lucky drops from enemies, can be a frustrating thing to have to contest with. I will say that I almost never died from having the game stingily keep things from me in challenge dungeons when facing the bosses of the dungeons, but bosses like OMG require actual good luck to defeat when you come in with jack shit and piece it all together as you go. The music was honestly kind of doodoo with the best musical moments coming from times when the game was just ripping tracks from other FF games. I stopped listening to this game while playing it after probably 20 hours and just started listening to other music or Bob Ross videos for the entire rest of the experience. At least when you did face a boss that was being accompanied by its original score, like Omega, you still feel badass fighting it. The gameplay is really simple too. You kick, or you use abilities. There are 9 classes to be unlocked over the course of the game or from challenge dungeons and each of those classes has 8 levels which unlock new abilities for you. Your chocobo levels up automatically from exp gained upon killing enemies but your class levels up from Job Points which are non-guaranteed drops from enemies. There's a good postgame dungeon to grind out JPs but for a lot of the game you'll really only have enough JPs to max out a few classes so choose wisely. You also unlock Buddies as the title suggests and those Buddies are every single enemy in the game as well as a lot of the characters you meet. If it wasn't for the trophy for unlocking every buddy and using all monster buddies I'd have stuck with like, 3 or 4 buddies for every single dungeon in the game; variety is secondary to function in this game. That goes for your class selection and your gear choices as well. But, if you wanted to be more varied you certainly could be, I just didn't want to limit myself functionally by being more varied in my gameplay choices, which in a lot of ways is the game's fault. I don't want to seem too harsh here, the game is fun and it did mostly serve the purpose I had in mind for it when I decided to go for it. It's just that the grind ended up becoming frustrating and the game itself maybe wasn't on par with the likes of World of Final Fantasy, but I'm still happy to have done it.

Popular Post Starrk_01
Plat #203: Marvel's Spider-man: Miles Morales (PS4) Fun short game that felt like a 1.5 game between the previous Spiderman game and the next Spiderman game. The story was engaging and got to learn more about the Miles Spiderman throughout the game. The only issue I really had (and I don't know if it was just me as it seemed to have fixed itself later on) was when I changed costumes to the more animated suit my game started to lag when doing any action (swinging, fighting, etc). It was like this for more than half of the first playthrough, which took me out of the experience.

Popular Post Deluziion90
#478 - Yakuza Kiwami 2 YAKUZA KIWAMI 2Obtained all trophies. From status reply:// This game was just AWESOME! Enjoyed every bit of this great story and gameplay. I'll try to review every bit I remember because it was a lot!. Story: Story got me hooked from the start to the finish and it was all very enjoyable. It felt much more to the point because my previous Yakuza game(like a dragon) man those cutscenes could take forever even though they were interested they kept talking about the same damn things and this felt much more to the point. The main protagonist ryuji goda was just goddamn cool. He's a huge buffed guy who just wants power and fight Kiryu because there can only be one dragon. Lots of etc etc because much happens here. Music: 10/10 Cool soundtracks, lots of heavy bangers and never got annoying or boring. Graphics: First thing I disliked was that damn locked 30fps but the game felt really smooth and I got used to it in less then 30 minutes and never bothered me. You could tell the devs wanted to show of the new dragon engine because most of the gameplay was at night so they could showoff all those flashy lights Kamarucho had to offer. Minigames: I'm an idiot for never wanted to play this because mahjong and all the scary talk but I got it done in like an hour and was pretty enjoyable. I still have no clue how the full game works but Riichi saved me to another 100% completion on this one. The clan creator was a bit meh and I just blasted through that. Goro Majima is cool like always but that's about it about this part. Cabaret.. One of the few things I didn't like because this one took forever to get 100%.. All other games were easy. Combat: As I'm a weird guy who jumps from the newer to the older games this one felt pretty solid and felt pretty brutal. Kiryu doesn't mess around breaking peoples faces. Solid 8/10. Blocking sometimes was a bit annoying but nothing to worry about. The Bad Things. Even though I fell in love with this game it has some goddamn horrible things. - Bouncer missions: 78 Missions just rushing through with a post game light saber and getting them done. Felt really unneccesary but the final mission made me cry where I needed to fight 3 amons. Lucky I found a cheesy noob strategy with an infinite ammo pistol and that saved me. - Cabaret completion: Took me 7hrs.. A full day grinding them. The beginning was fun but you also need to date all girls and that just bored me to death honestly. It's the only stuff I skipped through. - Haruka Requests: This kid.. - Legend Difficulty. I understand some people want to challenge themselves but as a trophy hunter it felt really stupid to do this trophy once again like other games. It took me around 3.5-4hrs spamrushing through the story with the lightsaber just to get this trophy out of the way. Overal this game was really great and I'll definitely continue the series even though I have some doubts I can 100% them all.
