Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#120 - Control "Director of the FBC" Unlock all other trophies. I know I always say this, but I will keep this one brief (or at least, I'll try haha). Control is absolutely one of the gems of 2019, and I'm stoked that I finally got around to playing it these holidays. It misses the mark in a few areas, but I had such a blast with this game that it's easy to recommend to nearly anyone. I won't spoil anything in my short review though; this is one of those games that deserves to be experienced yourself! First, the good. Honestly? Nearly everything. The atmosphere and style on display here is some of the best I've seen in years; it's distinctive while also just looking cool as heck. The characters / voice actors are (nearly all) excellent - including those who only appear in videos - and the environmental and area design is also solid. Lore and story kept me intrigued throughout, and there were some super cool campaign moments that had me shook. Combat was consistently fun, with an emphasis on power usage and movement & satisfying gunplay; new abilities were drip-fed at an appropriate rate too, imo. Music and sound were also spot-on. Perhaps my favourite part of the game though was the environmental destructibility. Though by no means a 1-to-1 recreation of real-world physics, the interaction you have with the environments made it feel alive. I'll be hard-pressed to go back to another shooter/action game without it. Not all is perfect in Control though. I played on a PS4 Pro and performance - at times - took a bit of a hit. Admittedly the main issues only arose after leaving a menu while in combat (frame stuttering for a few seconds) or with extreme numbers of particles on the screen, but it was still noticeable. I had a few other graphical issues too; including over-saturated lighting (seriously, you can't see anything in some areas haha) and some character faces/expressions looking stilted and kind of ugly (though this is largely offset by some excellent characters and voice acting from most of the cast). Though somewhat expected given where the game takes place, environments do start to look a bit same-y after a while too (though, again, the level design is excellent). I was also a bit disappointed with several of the 'big' bosses, but there's only a few All of that said, I had an amazing time with Control. It's weird, wacky, interesting and fun; with some fantastic atmosphere and environmental destructibility to boot. Trophies are super easy (basically just do all the missions, level up everything, and explore) too, so really; you've got no excuse not to jump in. Again, this is comfortably one of the best games of 2019 in my opinion, and well worth your time. Popular Post Desmuria
#250 - Life is Strange 2 All Roads Traveled Unlock all Life is Strange 2 trophies. Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 2/10 First of all, woooo! MILESTONE! 250 platinums, what a good way to start off the new year! I have really mixed feelings about this game and I'm going to go into depth as to why, so beware for spoilers. At the very start of the game, you're asked if you played Life is Strange and whether you chose to destroy Arcadia Bay or not. The game makes a few references to the original game, like Brody taking you to where the town (in my case) used to be. (Yes, I saved Chloe and sacrificed the whole effing town and I'm not even ashamed to admit it!) Later on, in the most ex-machina of meetings ever, you meet David (Chloe's stepdad) in a place called Away. He just so happens to be staying with Sean and Daniel's mother in a completely secluded camp in the middle of the bloody desert. Anyway, the story is truly gripping and it kept me wanting to play more to find out what happens. I'm pleased to say that the choices you make do matter, whether it's dialogue or actions, so that's definitely a plus. The soundtrack is beautiful, but I didn't expect anything less because Life is Strange and Before the Storm were equally as good. The scenes were lush and there was a lot to see and explore, even though you're confined to a relatively small space. There were some graphical glitches, mind. During the first episode, Daniel had a tree branch stuck to the side of his face for the latter part. On the downside, I feel that this game is definitely the weakest installment of the Life is Strange franchise. I felt I connected more with Max, Chloe and Rachel than I did with Sean and Daniel. Just a personal preference. Life is Strange 2 is adamant on shoving political and religious views down your throat and I felt it was all a little over the top. Obviously the Trump presidency over in America has triggered this reaction from the developers and they definitely let you know how they feel. The border to Mexico in the game is The Wall that Trump wishes to build, which Daniel subsequently tears down. The vigilante couple that meet you at the border are outwardly racist and think you're trying to enter America, when you just want to GTFO. Episode 4, the most fillery-filler episode of any game ever, just goes all out to display that religious fanatics = cultists. Lisbeth, the Reverend Mother, is a completely one-dimensional (albeit crazy) character and, if you choose to spare her, she NEVER shows up again. I feel that they introduced characters, good and bad, and just ditched them when they were no longer of use to the plot. It would've been nice to see what happened to people like Brody, for example. Last we see him, he's heading home to see his dying mother. If you chose not to contact your friend Lyla when given the opportunity whilst on the run, you never see her again either. I got the "Redemption" ending because Daniel had high morality and didn't want to use his powers for bad reasons, which I'm pretty happy with. Throughout the game, as Sean, you can teach Daniel the difference between right and wrong and your ending reflects that if you were successful. I've watched the "Blood Brothers" ending on YouTube that you can get if Daniel has low morality and it's still a super satisying ending. If you liked Life is Strange and Before the Storm, I do highly recommend you play this game. Just don't get your hopes up too high. Maybe I'm just biased because I loved the original game so much.

RedRodriguez87
#272: Special Agent Of Providence Another instance of a passable slightly fun experience marred by trophy requirements. And it's not that the requirements are difficult, it's that it requires you to play through multiple times, which means its flaws end up highlighted. The main problem I had with it is that it's a very sluggish game. Everything you do is so slow. - The loading is slow. - The unskippable cut-scenes are slow. - Your walk speed is slow. - Your normal and heavy attacks (as well as their recovery times) are slow. - Your dodge roll AND IT'S recovery time is slow. * (Extra note on this last one, as it really screws with gameplay, because the same rules don't apply to enemies. Many times I would try to dodge roll out of a group gaining up on me, but because the dodge is so damned slow, they would always walk in unison, keeping their perfect circle surrounding me AND getting in free shots because like I said, everything INCLUDING the recovery time is so fucking slow. The only thing saving me was the piss poor damage they do.) In addition, the game also loves its Cinematic Slowdown. You know, where the action on screen goes slow-mo with a zoom-in so you see a character do a cool thing. But instead of doing it sparingly, when a legit cool thing is actually happening, here it's done all the time. - Every special move start-up and ending. - Every enemy you kill. - Hell, one 4-hit special move itself results in every attack getting this treatment. Every. Single. Attack. - The Dramatic Slow Walk. Dear lord, the game just doesn't stop with The Dramatic Slow Walk. Add in the action being capped at an unstable 30FPS with frequent dips to 10 minus FPS which further mucks up the gameplay, and suddenly any good will had during your initial play-through will disappear. It's like, I don't even care to know more about the source material due to this game.

Popular Post Yoey_666
#333 - South Park: The Fractured but Whole Man, I loved the Stick of Truth so much that I wasn‘t sure how they will ever gonna top this, but they surely did with this game. While the story was longer but also way more weird, the new fighting system really stands out here. Enjoyed all of it and had a good laughter as usual with South Park.
Popular Post Katt
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Birth by Sleep Master Obtain all trophies. Oh god, that was quite a bumpy ride. Defeating 3 times the hideous boss Misterious Figure was a test of patience, but, well, the game itself was a REAL test of patience, but I'm a master in that matter. This was the hardest of the 4 games in the collection, thanks again Misterious Figure. You need to forget all the skills you mastered through the game and just spam square and Thunder Surge. That's a lesson for all developers of how to NOT make a secret boss. His Doom skill is just unfair but it can be easily dodged with square mashing (bad luck for Terra, though). Ahhh... I just wanted to cry when I saw the trophy pop at the end of the Secret Episode. Nothing is impossible. And with this, every trophy for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX for PS4 is unlocked.

Popular Post Spinosaurus Rex
PLATINUM #147 - YOOKA-LAYLEE AND THE IMPOSSIBLE LAIR Difficulty: 6/10 | Platinum enjoyment: 6.5/10 | Game enjoyment: 7.5/10 | Plat tier: UNCOMMON Yooka and Laylee returned and were degraded to 2.5D dimension. Because it was one of my most anticipated game of 2019, I immediately picked it up on holiday PSN sale. At first glance, there's a lot of reasons to love this game. Beautiful graphics, cute characters (even these marching ugly Capital B mooks are kinda cute, too), absolutely awesome soundtrack from duo known from old Rare's games Kirkhope & Wise (although Griffin and Muldoch also have done pretty damn good job), excellent-on-paper gameplay inspired by Donkey Kong Country, Rayman Legends, Super Mario World 2 and even Zelda with flexible gameplay where you can adjust the difficulty just as you wish by removing checkpoints, giving you more invincibility time, giving enemies additional hitpoint etc. Game of the year contender? Sadly, no. But I was ready to say so after first few hours, where my excitement rating was pure 10/10. I'd have a big problem to state exactly what was wrong with this game, but after these first few hours game started to feel pretty repetitive, even if every level introduced different interesting gimmick. I had to force myself to even complete every level except dreaded Impossible Lair, and the game cleanup afterwards was sadly a chore, with grinding involved. My excitement rating went down to about 5/10 for the second half of the game, hence my whole game enjoyment is a mean of these two ratings. About infamous Impossible Lair, it's the main obstacle of the game and the only reason of 6/10 difficulty, as everything else is 3/10 at best. Long, checkpointless marathon where you need to learn every move that fat bastard Capital B throws at you, practice and die again only later in the Lair. There was a lot of ranting about the difficulty, which is understandable, as NOTHING in this game before Impossible Lair prepare you for the challenge - the game even allows you to skip checkpoints in main levels! Moreover, I found this part exciting in comparison to somewhat bland main game. It's also important to note this place is needed to beat to even see the game's credits. Playtonic tried to create a game for both casual and veteran platformer fans, but it turned out this game is for neither of them, as it can be too difficult for people not adapted to platformers, and main game may be too boring for those who prefer something more challenging. At least that's what I think, though. To be honest, I prefer first Yooka-Laylee game, because gameplay fitted my taste more and game was enjoyable from start to finish, what I sadly cannot say about Impossible Lair. Despite my disappointment, I WOULD recommend this game, but not for the current price (even on current sale). Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is from "high-price class" indie game which costs $30 instead of usual $15, despite the fact many indie games costing less provide more enjoyment than this title. And what the hell happened to Rextro Sixtyfourus? He was such a lovable guy...

Popular Post Viper
#181 RAGE Master of the Wastelands First Plat of 2020 and it's a 9 year old game lol.Man, it feels like I was working on this one for months...and it was only 3 weeks. It was pretty fun for what it was...at least in the first playthrough. Ultra Nightmare wasn't too hard just a little cheap at times, it's just...this isn't a game worthy of more than one run through...so the second run felt like a slog, I kinda feel bad for the earlier players who did 3 runs because Ultra Nightmare was DLC. The end sucked ass though...terrible ending that just leaves you hanging. Now the co-op portion...that was tough at times. Especially the one in Mutant Bash TV having to take on 2 Krakens. But I had a good partner, he was player 2 so he had lag to contend with and still muscled through. I have RAGE 2 waiting to be played now...doubt I'll be jumping into it right away though. Need to let it breathe a bit. Edited January 3, 2020 by Viper
Popular Post Eramir
Platinum #65: Ghost Recon: Wildlands Got a week ago, but its still my most recent. Loved the coop gameplay, did that about two years gago. Recently got Breakpoint and then the itch came to plat this one. There are alot of collectibles in this game. Got it faster by lowering the difficulty and just fly with a helicopter. One thing about the ending which stuck by me, that really sucked, it was a real letdown. This game took about sixy hours to plat, of which 50 I really enjoyed and the last ten became a bit of a chore. Next plat will hopefully be Star Wars Battlefront 2, I'm almost there, just need to get to lvl 50.

Popular Post ZitMeatloaf
#40 - Crash Bandicoot "The N. Trepid Crash Bandicoot" I definitely stubborned my way to this one. Playing through this game was a very enjoyable nostalgic experience, but I'd forgotten just how difficult The High Road and Fumbling In The Dark could be. And that was BEFORE having to do any of the time trials. I never actually completed the time trial for The High Road since I'd already gotten the gold relic on Stormy Ascent. I've never been a 100% completionist, so I just noped out of that to save myself a great deal of frustration. Happy to have this as one of my milestone platinums. I'll come back to the other two Crash games (which I've never played) later, but after all those time trial attempts I need a little platformer break.

Popular Post PlayerWhiteMage
Platinum #4 Ginger: Beyond the Crystal Enjoyment: 2 Difficulty: 3 Would I recommend? Certainly Not I honestly couldn't tell you why or what made me purchases this game or how I did 0% research on it before hand, but now I have the knowledge to make sure no other poor should touches this game. It's a mess this game, everything about it is just really badly done. The graphics are bad, the sound effects and music are your standard stock noises, the game has major lag and clipping issue which is a big problem in a platformer, you die very easily and have no way to gain back health or upgrade it throughout the game, checkpoints only activate once you rub your body against them, the story is i don't know since I skipped it and it's one of those games in which sometimes you can fall from great height and other times you die from falling 1ft, oh and the camera is very frustrating. I think it had potential if done properly but it feels like it was made within a day and didn't have much thought put into it, but if you're looking for a game which plays and has all the problems of a Gamecube game then this might just be for you. I had a trophy glitch out on me so I had to do another playthrough but then the platinum glitched since I should have had to do a whole playthrough but you know what I'm not complaining! A lot of the trophies seem to have problems so I'm happy it was a basic one and nothing else gave me problems, it's not a long game but there's just some things you shouldn't touch ever again.
Popular Post BlackSnake1435
Platinum #32 (And first platinum of 2020) Enjoy 8/10 Difficulty 2/10 There are many things I could say about this game, I bought it after watching videos about its playability and knowing that it was nominated to game of the year, so I took advantage of the discounts on the PS Store Germany I purchased for a relatively low price and I must say that I don't regret I did it. It is a good game, many side mission and very good playability, starting with the variety of weapons, skills and how we can upgrade all of them. Also, there is a lot of exploration in the game and that's the best way to get to know the story, which could be one of the weakest point. Of course there are some feautures that gives minus points to it, like a few bugs (for example, it happened to me that sometimes when I opened the map, only the checkpoints showed up, but it takes time until the rest of the maps show up as well, and besides that, the game runs slowly at times). With all that said, I would say, its a good game, but perhaps not that good to call it "candidate to game of the year". Also, the platinum is very easy, there is no need to complete the game to 100% to achieve it. If you wanna try it, this could be a good change due to its discounts, or maybe you can do it later, because right now there might be better games to play. Popular Post Ceridane
Demon's Souls Toughest Soul Trophy All Trophies Obtained The platinum took me way more time than I expected because I made so many mistakes in my first playthrough and also had bad luck with a glitch in one of the areas of the game. When I was trying to get the 'foe's ring' I killed all the NPC's in the Nexus before Mephistopheles gave me the actual mission so I missed the ring that was supposed to be given as a reward and had to redo the entire quest in NG+ I also missed almost all the Crystal lizards in 4-2 and 4-3 in my first playthrough because they fall down from the cliffs so easily. I had to look for the Pure Darkmoonstone in NG+ The game also glitched on me and one of the NPC characters that was supposed to appear in Pure white tendency died before I could talk to her in 5-3. Apparently there is a chance that this character may die because it spawns in a poisonous area making her questline impossible to complete. My advice is to rush this map without picking up anything and go directly to her and talk her as soon as possible. Luckily I got the infamous pure Bladestone in my 6th attempt but the Chunks of marrowstone refuse to drop from the enemies and took more that 2 hours to find one. Very fun game and totally doable offline. The most difficult part is planning all the events that take place in white/black world tendency as well for the pure white/black character tendency. Platinum difficulty : 5/10 Time for platinum : 25+ hours
