Popular Post RedRodriguez87
#271: I'm Going to Be the Pirate King! Game sucks. Granted, it has some good ideas, but for every good idea, there is a poor execution. You have a beautiful open world, but it's so lifeless and empty. You have unique and actually really fun transportation method in the form of the Gum Gum Rocket, but every single one of Luffy's other traversal controls are clunky and awkward. You have huge cities to explore, but in addition to them being mostly a ghost town, you can't latch on to enough buildings and edges to make traversal smooth and flowing, and the few characters that are around every damn corner are snipers that can AND will constantly shoot you back down to earth. There are a lot of moves to unlock, but Luffy is the only one who is playable. That's right, from a main cast of eight that have ALL been playable before, you are left with just one this time. There isn't even a party system ala Kingdom Hearts, where you at least have additional company. The story is so bland and generic, and an example why "original story by -insert author-" doesn't mean jack shit. Like most anime based games, yo don't learn anything new about preexisting characters, or see them played off each other in different ways. Instead, we get "original" characters, and by original I mean the stock 1 nice person and 1 jerk duo; one is just so sweet and pure and always wanting to help others oo lala, and one who's essentially just "life is pain, life is only pain, so I'm gonna be an ass to the only people who ever gave a shit about me". Enter our hero, whose every other line of dialogue boils down to "hee hee, I can't understand basic social cues because I'm retarded!" or "What? Bad guy done a thing?! NOW I'M ANGRY AND SERIIUS RRRR", with his pirate crew piping in every so often to remind you what their character quirks are in typical one-note fashion. *sigh* Do you y'all remember Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island? Do you remember how for all it's flaws (mostly stemming from trying to pack a lot into a feature length movie), it tried its damnedest to give you something you have never seen before, at least at the time of release? Anyways, this is my last platinum of the year. Gaming wise, it was pretty damn good. Real-life wise?............ Let's just say I gotta do ALOT better in 2020.

Popular Post MissShake
#47: Life is Strange 2 All Roads Traveled Unlock all Life is Strange 2 trophies. This was an interesting game. I'm personally torn about a couple of things related to the story. I definitely enjoyed the brotherhood aspect of the story, I felt like Sean and Daniel were a realistic sibling dynamic and I personally don't get why everyone says Daniel is insufferable. (He's only really annoying in episode three.) But the political part of the game was kind of a mixed bag. It's a tough topic that Dontnod shouldn't really tackle, their writers just aren't graceful enough for it. I was trying to figure out what was bothering me since the game has a few things I do agree with, but the entire time I did feel kind of insulted without really being sure quite why. Then my sister said that the game feels more like a company using American politics to make money than it feels like anything sincere, and I think that hits the nail on the head. Random nitpick, but I live like right by the American/Mexican boarder and I can tell you firsthand that Mexican-American kids don't enunciate in quite the way Sean does, especially kids who were born in the states like him. (They don't say "we're going to go..." but they say "we're gonna go.") Again, though, I did have fun with it. I'm definitely attached to the brothers and I kept calling them my sons without noticing I was lol. Spoiler As for the endings I got, I originally ended up with Parting Ways, then I reloaded to see my other option, which ended up being Redemption. Both of those endings seemed like "good" endings, even if both of them have their negative points to them. I didn't expect a completely happy ending to even be an option. Just wouldn't align with other endings in LiS games.
Popular Post Desmuria
#248 - Erica That's a Wrap Unlock all bronze, silver and gold trophies. Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 2/10 After playing The Bunker, Late Shift, The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker and The Shapeshifting Detective, I had to play this. I really love the live action movies/games and this was no exception. The story is completely bonkers and I kinda love it. The only things I will criticise are the controls, the complete lack of saves and the repetitiveness. If you choose to play on your controller, all input is done through the touchpad and sometimes it's a little difficult to control but nothing major. The game autosaves and, from what I read on the guide I followed (I didn't check myself), you can't use cloud back-up saves. Therefore, you have to complete the game in its entirely 5-6 times to get the platinum trophy and it's a slog. Also, if you mess up and select the wrong option - you have to start the story from the beginning again. The flow of the story doesn't really change, so you're constantly revisiting scenes over and over again and it's super repetitive. The first couple of playthroughs were fun, though. I enjoy the story and the acting is great. Highly recommended if you enjoy this kind of thing, but keep in mind that the platinum takes some work. #249 - Forgotton Anne Thank You For Playing! You've been all around the Forgotten Lands. Thank you for your time! Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 3/10 I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this game! I love Studio Ghibli films, so this was right up my alley. The art style, the voice acting, the story - it's all perfect. Right from the very start, the story just gripped me and I loved going on this adventure of self-discovery. The platforming controls aren't perfect and there are some trophies that I struggled with, but it's all a matter of practice. The autosave function is generous, so you can easily reload the previous checkpoint in the main menu and try again. I've had this game in my backlog for months and I kick myself for not playing it sooner. What a delight! HUMBLE BRAG AND STUFF I have a feeling that this is going to be my last platinum of 2019. It's been quite a year. The first platinum I earned this year was my 134th, which means I've earned 115 in total this year. I'm extremely proud of my achievement and hope to earn my 250th tomorrow, on New Years Day. I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year and I wish you all the best for 2020.
Popular Post Undead Wolf
#299 - Marvel's Spider-Man Be Greater Collect all Trophies I'm not a Marvel fan and I haven't been into Spider-Man since I was a kid. Even so, I heard good things about this game, so I decided to give it a try. There are some problems I had with it such as the button-mashy combat (even on the hardest difficulty), the repetitive open world crime missions needed for completion, and the lame stealth sections with MJ/Miles. I did really enjoy the web swinging though (even if you can't really mess up), and the story was great too. Peter's relationship with Dr. Octavius was a highlight. I didn't care much for MJ - I thought the stuff with Black Cat was muuuch better, especially in the first DLC. Hawt! Overall, I thought it was a good game. I'll definitely play the sequel when it inevitably comes out.
Popular Post Dargzler
Far Cry: New Dawn Conqueror Difficulty 2/10 Enjoyment 7/10 If you like Far Cry you will like this. Just more of the same albeit on a smaller scale. I believe this uses some of the Far Cry 5 map but set 10 or so years after the end of Far Cry 5 so some parts may look familiar.

Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #450: Difficulty: 4.5/10 Playtime: 100+ hours Enjoyment: 7.5/10 Welp... that's it. The longest gestating platinum trophy hunt I hope I'll ever embark upon, spanning almost five and a half years, and sporadic playtime on three different consoles. Hell of a way to close out a year, and a decade. "But, AK", I hear you ask, "FFX-2 is hardly Dark Souls, here... what took you so long?" Well, sit your ass down in that chair, DRINK YOUR GODDAMN TEA, and listen to my story of sorrow and woe. And now, the tragic story. Eddie's sister, Mary Louise, needed an operatio--oops, wrong story! Ahem. Long story short; I got screwed by an inept guide writer. One about whom I am still trying to dig up personal information, so I can send some top-class assassins his way for a friendly visit... but I digress. Suffice to say, said waste of oxygen failed to underline the importance of the goddamn agency PR mission until it was too late, and thus was I robbed of measly yet quintessential completion percentages. Having already had a less than perfect playthrough from ye olden PS2 days under my belt (in that case, due to a general lack of knowledge about missables and points of no return), I was denied my chance at redemption. Denied a perfect ending, and consequently, a one-playthrough platinum completion, after sitting through hours of CommSphere bullshit. This demotivated me to the point of quitting it outright for another few years because I had just effin had it. But there it remained, in the darkest corners of my backlog--on three consoles, no less! There is no escape!--mocking me in the voice of Jecht, esteemed multiple-time Father of the Year: "YOU CAN'T DO IT, KID!" Then, as you do, I decided to sod all that and just do it a few months ago because Tidus wouldn't take that crap, and neither would I, I guess. Being able to cap my year off with it, and have it be a milestone besides, would help dull the pain of an imperfect playthrough. Who knows, I may be crazy enough to actually do it proper someday. Actually, that's part of the reason why my ignominious failure pained me as much as it did. You see, full disclosure: I made a vow not to watch the ending within any other context but the intended one, and it's one I've kept to this day. As to my thoughts on the game itself... being a sequel to one of my favourite games ever, it was always going to stand in its shadow. It never quite gets even halfway there, but I've made my peace with it a long time ago. I respect its trying to be something different. But it tries to be so many different things it just ends up a bit of a tonal mess. Only very rarely does it truly feel like the sequel the game deserves... inasmuch as it even needs a sequel, which is questionable. The gameplay can be fun, even if battle rewards feel cheap and inconsequential most of the time. I actually enjoyed Last Mission a lot more than I thought I would, and I usually am a hard sell on roguelikes. I may very well replay that with the other characters someday. The character moments and story beats of LM were better than most of the writing in X-2 proper! In retrospect, for all of its experimentation both bad and good, X-2 feels like the last time Square was able to do anything remotely heartfelt with the Final Fantasy IP. Anyways, I hope you've had as fulfilling a year in gaming as I have. Having thus taken another step out of my backlogged past, I'm ready to see what the future brings. After all, hopefully by this time next year, all my backlog troubles will be miles away. Now, since the platinum screenshot itself was some random story event that provided the last completion percentage fractions... enjoy this infinitely superior (if innocently mendacious) facsimile: Happy New Year (and Decade) to you all, and I wish you good fortune in the trophy wars to come! Popular Post PondNewt
I got two platinum's to close out the year over the last couple of days. Firstly InFamous First Light last night and then Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown earlier this evening. Ace Combat 7 was my 50th platinum so a pretty respectable game to milestone with. I always enjoyed flying planes when playing the GTA games so I thought Ace Combat could be a good fit for me so decided to give it a try earlier this year. Took me a while to earn the platinum but I'm very glad I bought it.

I really enjoyed this classic JRPG as it kept the traditional gameplay and didn't try to ''modernize'' things like the latest Final Fantasy (sic). The easy difficulty was disappointing as you don't need any strategy for getting the platinum although the game has a ton to craft, from gear to higgledies. But i read that the dlcs are challenging so maybe i'll bite my tongue later . Popular Post DamagingRob
#423- Prey TranStar Employee of the Year You acquired all the trophies. Not much more to say other than what I wrote here: Day 1 & Final Review. Just the DLC was left out, and ugh... The core gameplay is the same, but they added roguelike elements, and an unnecessary trophy for unlocking every ability. So, if you like time limits, and doing the same thing over and over, it may be for you. But I did not enjoy it much. Which is a shame, because I paid more for that than the actual game. :/ #424- NieR: Automata Final Words Thank you for playing. Again, nothing more to say that isn't in my one KYC post: NieR: Automata Review. Platinum images: Spoiler Not enough 2B ass in the Platinum image, though, so the actual final trophy image is included.
