Lol. Well, she wasn't a support character for long. It was actually pretty nice while she was, though. She still took part in battles, so it was like having an extra party member. 

 

They're still obtainable, but you're looking at a massive timesink(over 500 hours, according to trophy guides). Online made them much easier and faster to earn. I doubt I'll be Platinuming it.

Game 10 : Horizon Zero Dawn

 

WOW!, just WOW. I'm not sure i should add any more than that as i'm not sure my words can do it justice, this game has shot to the top of this list as far as i'm concerned, from what i've seen so far its likely going to be one of my all time favourite games. It really has everything excellent story, from what i've seen so far it reminds me of the dragonriders of pern series of books, good open world game play, and amazing graphics probably the best i have ever seen it really makes full use of the PS4 pro's capabilities. 

 

Now that KYC has finished i'll likely be giving this all of my focus, if you have a chance to pick this  up i really would recommend you play it.

Game #19 - Metro : Last Light Redux

Graphics:  Basically the same as Metro 2033 Redux, slight improvements to the textures but everything is still grainy and unrefined in a way. The graphics are definitely not bad but remasters can only 'remaster' so much so I am  just happy with the same graphics with a more stable frame rate during intense sequences. This game seems to have a lot more things going on at many points throughout and having as much things on screen as there sometimes are is impressive to me for a last gen game. I enjoy the art style in these games a lot the dark and dullness really contributes to the games overall atmosphere. 

Sound: 2033 had sounds that were creepy, I didn't think I'd say it but this game is even creepier than 2033. The sounds in this game are great you really 'feel' the sound in this game and the sound is definately one of the best parts about this game and why its able to keep you glued to the screen even when there isn't a lot you can see around you can always hear things way in the distance or even the slight cry of a ghost in the distance. Spectacular sound in this game. The voice acting is decent but nothing great as per usual the great sounds are meant to be for the environment, creatures and guns which are all great.  

 

Gameplay: While it didn't do a whole lot to reinvent the wheel from 2033 everything that is there is a bit better. The controls are more responsive and there are a lot more guns to use. This game is a lot more psychological and it feels more like you vs the creatures instead of you vs other humans. There is still a lot of interaction with other factions but I just feel like there is a lot more battles with creatures in this game and they are all even more screwed up than they were in 2033, the spiders are super disgusting and some parts reminded me of the movie "the mist". Overall, I enjoyed this game as much as I did 2033. 

 

Fun Factor: The game is fun, I had to cut my RES7 gameplay short today because I was sort of addicted to this game and wanted to finish the story. It's enjoyable to play and rewarding if you get through it on the higher difficulties. 

 

Closing Thoughts: A great sequel and I am excited for the new metro game they announced at E3, it looks crazy.

Game #20 - Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Graphics:  This game looks great, I really enjoy the fast framerate they went for in this game because I think that is so important in first person games. Like I've stated before the gore is an amazing addition and even though I'm not far in the game there is a ton of it. The field of view in this game is almost perfect it works so great but I had to take off the camera shaking because it was really disorienting for me but besides that I think the overall art style and graphical presentation of this game is stellar. 

Sound: Sounds are insane in this game and the voice acting is top notch which surprised me a lot because I always thought it was trash in older 3rd person Resident Evil titles. The sound in this game is so well done that the sound alone scared me without even having to have a jump scare or something on screen. 

 

Gameplay: I havent passed the game yet but I've seen it played a lot and one of the main concerns I had when I first seen it was how responsive it was and I can happily say that is game is very responsive, the controls are great and there is minimal input lag. From what I've seen so far the progression has been decent and even after seeing some of the parts the game is brutally scary and even without jump scares and cheap tricks I think it is probably still one of the scariest games ever made. 

 

Fun Factor: I was too scared to have fun lol. 

 

Closing Thoughts: I want to get through my first playthrough while getting the crap scared out of me so I can enjoy the next couple runs of the game while I got for the plat.

Game #10

The Order: 1886

Man, this game's got an unusual trophy list. Considering all but one is either kill or collectible related, it's no surprise that some people are getting all of them in 1-2 hours.

I ignored The Order for quite a while, thinking it was a FPS and seeing upset players left and right. Turns out I was rather wrong on the former - it's more a hybrid movie/third-person tactical shooter. Wish I'd known it was so cutscene-heavy, I would've started it earlier despite being half asleep.

Saw it on sale for $4 back in May, and gave it a closer look. Saw reviews tended to be more "this was too short for a $60 game" than anything else and decided to give it a try. Only made it partway through chapter 3, but it seems like the most interesting one I've started during this event.

I have no idea what's going on with the story - steampunk, knights, and werewolves, oh my! - but I'm intrigued. The writing's certainly doing a good job of pulling me in. It's probably one of the most visually impressive games I've played, though admittedly that's not a big deal for me.

Definitely worth checking out if you don't mind that it's short and a bit light on gameplay.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Ouch. I really don't want to leave this one so low, but time's up. Started it second because RPGs tend to suck me in and The Order wouldn't have gotten touched otherwise.

Barely made it out of the tutorial, but I'm impressed so far. Brighter than I was expecting; nice to avoid dingy greys/browns everywhere for once. The tutorial is very nicely set up, giving you bits of "durr, push to attack" here and there but handing you equipment for every basic type so you can see what you enjoy before picking a class. All of them seemed pretty good, and I'm not entirely sure which way I'll wind up - apparently you can easily respec, so you're not forced to restart if you're not enjoying your setup.

Happily, had the DLC quests pop up on the way to town; I've heard they can be stubborn.

Probably the game that drew me in the most, despite the low playtime. I'll be eagerly getting back to this when other events allow.

4. Assassin's Creed Unity
   Had loads of fun going through the co-op missions with a friend, but controls/combat are a mess and single-player is mediocre.
5. Resident Evil 5

   Seemed like it should be pretty fun, but not great with console controls - touchpad or mouse should be much better.
7. The Deadly Tower of Monsters
   Top-down shooter with ridiculous "commentary"? Don't mind if I do.
8. Contrast   (done)
   Enjoyable gameplay, but slightly off controls.
9. Blood Knights
   Seems poor all-around, though not dreadful.
10. Abyss Odyssey
    Roguelite platformer. Reminds me of Rogue Legacy but doesn't grab me as much. Still, pretty game that seems solid enough.

Didn't get as much time in as I wanted, thanks to the sudden new dog, but I still had a blast. Probably going to finish up Unity, Deadly Tower of Monsters, The Order, and maybe InFamous (from KYC 2...) in August, and we'll see how things go from there.

That game is mesmerizing. I'm amazed at every little thing. Like when it started raining and Noctis holded his hand up to feel the rain or when I went to this new place and there was that huge monster in the lake. When I stop playing, I just want to go back to it but I really need to take breaks to avoid motion-sickness. In 10 hours of gameplay, I only felt really sick once, it was in a cramped dungeon while battling a weird spider-woman demon. I only feel slightly uncomfortable the rest of the time but it's enough to make me take breaks every hour / hour and a half. 

 

Right now, I'm at the beginning of Chapter 3 and currently lvl20. Ignis' "Regroup" skill is extremely useful and makes things easier. Random batches of soldiers are being dropped on my head several times a day. It's both annoying and exhilirating (especially when I have some little Healcast lvl25 prepared, then I just warp-strike into the group, throw my spell and insta-kill everyone while Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto are still running behind me to catch up. I also love when Prompto runs straight through the fire like an idiot and dances around to extinguish the flames  ).

 

Here are two screenshots from the game. The first one is stupid Prompto taking selfies instead of helping with the quests. The second one is about soldiers happily jumping into battle while I'm already busy with rhinos (and I have no idea what Ignis is doing).

Game #1: Mugen Souls Z

Recommend: Not really, but if you've played the 1st one, this one's easier

 

Hmm...don't think I like this game as much as I did when I first played it. The jokes, especially the boob jokes, get old, and there's still a lot of text. The battle system is very complicated no matter how cute it all seems. I feel like I'm missing out on some great bonuses since I still don't really understand it yet. No wonder the plat is an ultra rare! It's not the grind that gets you (the DLC helps), it's the complex battle system. I haven't gone back to playing the game after my final review. Will get back to it, but will have to watch some videos on how to make use of the battle system, especially getting those combos. 

 

Game #2: Muramasa Rebirth

This game blew my mind! Very fast-paced and exhilarating. The graphics and the gameplay will have you playing at the edge of your seat. The stories are also very good. I did enjoy Momo's story more though. I've got really nothing more to say, but to just go out and buy it. Here are my reviews from the DLCs:

 

Fishy Tales of the Nekomata, aka A Cat's Revenge

Review: 8/10

 

Doooooods...this one is particularly difficult, fun but difficult. You play as a cat, duh, and you're seeking revenge on the people that killed your humans*. The environment and the enemies are pretty much the same, like in the main game. The saving grace in this DLC is the variety of attacks, the experience tree, and the bosses. So far I've only encountered two, but boy were they exciting! Wouldn't want to spoil it for you though. You're just going to have to find out for yourself.

 

*Sidenote: If any of you own a cat, you know that cats do not have owners 'cause they are never owned. They are guardians of the Netherworld and, therefore, wouldn't condescend to a lower level, you know like dogs.

 

A Cause to Daikon for, aka A Farmer's Plee

Review: 5/10

 

I'll probably play this DLC last because it's a bit more difficult than the others. The weapons you wield as a farmer are ridiculous. "Hey, you! Yeah, you. Pass me that, ummmm, hoe.....I've got a score to settle". Doesn't really sound very macho, does it?

 

A Spirited Seven Nights' Haunting, aka White Snake Necklace

Review: 8/10

 

Faster paced than the previous DLC with lots of new bosses to take down. My third favorite DLC.

 

Hell's Where the Heart is

Review: 10/10

 

I  love, love, LOVE this DLC. It ticks all the right boxes. It's humorous and easy. A cheeky monk has discarded his vows to  the monastery to bed women. Any women will do for him, unfortunately he has a knack for hitting on demons disguised as beautiful, voluptuous women. Well, on one particularly occasion he hits on Momohime (still possessed by a demon), or he thinks he does. Instead, she runs off after eating a peach, and the little girl behind Momo thinks that the monk courted her instead. A lot of misunderstandings happen after that. I love it. It will definitely be the first DLC I come back to and 100% after I complete the main game.

 

Game #3: Ragnarok Odyssey Ace

 

Playtime: No idea. Still don't know. Should've gotten my niece to write this review

Initial Review: 4/10

Final Review: 5/10 - I'll give it 1 more point. It's a tough one, since I played Muramasa Rebirth after this

Recommend: Only after playing the others, if you're bored (Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, God Eater). I've only played God Eater Resurrection, but I'll assume that the others are better than this one.

 

It's your typical monster hunter-type game. This time the plot/story is based on Nordic/Scandinavian lore and myths. You play as the new recruit helping to clear out some of the monster infestation and hoping to diminish its numbers. The gameplay is fast-paced with different button combos mapped to various actions. I played as the Sword Warrior, so everything pretty much evens out. You have your pick as a Hammersmith, Mage, Assassin and Cleric. 

 

Game #4: Star Ocean: Integrity & Faithlessness

Playtime: 40 hours

Initial Review: 7/10

Final Review: 5/10

Trophies: 12/41

Recommend: Yes, for newbies who want to see what the Star Ocean series is all about. A huge maybe for those that know the series.

 

The game I played the most out of this event. It's very bare bones, even though the graphics are beautiful. There aren't many cutscenes, which I didn't like, and I later found out it was intentional. I thought it was a big mistake. Also, there's only one planet - the one you start off with - that you encounter. It is a bit weird because, you know, it is called Star Ocean. Maybe I'm wrong, and the game will surprise me in the end. I've gotten to Chapter 9 of 12, so there's still time to wow me. But I have to say, getting the battle trophies is so much easier this time, and nothing's truly missable in this game.

 

Game #5: Tales of Symphonia

Playtime: 7 hours

Recommend: Yes. 

 

Tales of Symphonia is an action JRPG released way back in 2003 for the GameCube, and released a year later in Europe and the US. It's the 5th core game in the Tales series. The game follows Lloyd Irving and Colette Brunel as they make a journey to save the world. The plot's not that good. Boy hero, girl childhood friend...

 

Gameplay: Multi-line Linear Motion Battle System, Tales-light, where it's lays the groundwork for future Tales games. You walk/run around the battle arena and can choose which enemy to pursue/fight. It's fast but not really responsive. You can really only get a few hits in at a time before the enemy hits you. The guarding isn't as responsive as future titles, but that's okay. I got used to it. 

 

Graphics: For those that didn't grow up with the amazing graphics we have now, they might think this game looks "old". Well, I think it looks great and am glad they remastered it. It's also available on Steam.

 

Skits: These are little cutscenes that take place occasionally in the game. It allows for more interactions with the characters, provides back-story and great conversations. Still funny, but not as good as Tales of Hearts R or Tales of Graces f. I'm only disappointed that it's not voiced, and I can't skip the texts to read them faster either.

 

Got as far as the next town, and I stopped there. A bit scared that if I went any further, I'd forget something later. I will definitely come back to this game, but I have to be in the right mindset for the plat. Maybe next year?

 

Game #6: Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice - which I dropped

 

I started this game super excited to play it as I've read that this game is awesome. The only thing is that I couldn't figure out the gameplay. Super happy that I didn't earn a trophy. I'll delete it off my PSN list and try to come back to it later. Or maybe I'll count my loss and watch a few videos to see if the Vita version is better. I still want to try it out the series in the future.

Game 6 (replacement), Final Review: Overcooked (PS4)

Day 1

 

As it's a game that focuses on co-op I thought it wouldn't really make sense to play it on my one (even though it's possible), so no report for Sunday but instead for Monday.

I only get a few minutes of play time before we decided to stop for the day. I played about 4 new campaign levels and I also tried the versus-mode.

 

Three of the five campaign levels were quite annoying and were an unexpected challenge. One of them featured mice which would show up from time to time and either steal the raw ingredients or the ones you already prepared. The only way to stop them from doing so was to use the action-button so that they may drop the items which you then can pick up again. At first we had some problems with it but at the end we decided to split up the actions. One was gathering the raw food and chopping it, the other one threw the food into the pot, put it onto the dish, washed the dirty dishes and punched the mice if necessary. I wonder if the guests tasted a difference in some of the meals, though.

Two of the other levels introduced a kitchen which was separated into two parts that were only connected by conveyor belts. Although the score requirements lenient, those were the levels where we had the biggest struggle. But I guess as soon as we try the levels a second time it will be much easier. At least it was that way on day 1.

THe fourth level then finally introduced us to new surroundings: Ice floes. It also introduced a new dish with fried fish and chips. Navigating the slippery ice was a bit unexpected at first but after deciding to bump towards the kitchen all the time it was rather easy for me. My girlfriend had a few more problems, though. She slipped at least three or four times, which activated a cooldown timer before she was able to move again. It didn't help to get the best possible score but it was still amusing somehough.

The fifth level we played was again on a ship with moving areas, but this time each chef had a separate section and we had to use the moving partition as an exchange point.

 

After that we decided to give the versus-mode a try. In this you can either team up with another player or each one can play on his own (at least for two players, don't know how it is for three or four). The goal is clear: Get the highest score. There's one big difference to the co-op campaign, though: The time one needs to perform an action is way longer. But as a compensation you can take control of a second character whom you can switch to by pressing . That wasn't explained, though. Or we were too stupid to understand the pictograms shown right before the level start. So while one character performs his action, you switch to the other one and perform another task. Somehow it felt even more hectic as the campaign as keeping track of two characters on your own is a challenge on it's own. I'm not really sure about these controls also apply if you decide to play the campaign on your own, which is totally possible but I wouldn't suggest it.

 

Overall I had a really good time with this game and I will try to finish the campaign at least. But it's unlikely that I will go for the challenge to 3-star every level, This game surely lives from the fun you can have with other local players. If you have no one else to play with, you should probably avoid it.

I will work on this game in a grindy way, but the good news is I can play this game while listening podcasts (unlike Uncharted, for instance);
• Absolute Drift: Zen Edition: almost Plat'ed - actually I still had not get its Platinum because I want to have Naruto UNS 4's Platinum as my 170th (now I have 168 Platinums), so I will hold back this game for a while;
• Baseball Riot: completed;
• F1 2015: I will work on this game as a "priority" - probably I will try to achieve every trophy but Pro Mode ones in next two months;
• Handball 16: this game can be marked as a "priority one" due to a guide I'm working on, and because I can do some things while working on this game (my "roadmap plan" consider this situation);
• Hyperdimension Neptunia PP: (at least for me) it is a good game to working on in small sections. I intend to have its Platinum as my 175th Platinum;
• Madden NFL 11: I will work on this game eventually (mainly while I'm still doing Madden Moments);
• Mugen Souls Z: I will work on this game eventually (it can be quite hard due to "competition" - I should work on Lightning Returns, Atelier Sophie, Tales of Graces and Ni no Kuni too...);
• Tour de France 2014: I will work on this game eventually - on start, I will try some "auto-progress" on some given tasks, and work on some actually-played tasks/trophies after a while...
• Tropico 5: I should work on this game sometimes, but for now it will just taking up space on HD...
• Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered: I will work on this game eventually - considering that I'm playing on Crushing difficulty, and I'm not into this kind of game so much, a chapter every week or two would be a nice progress...

Games played in order of preference: 

 

1. Final Fantasy XIII-2- Completely unexpected, as I didn't care for the first XIII. But this has been a rather enjoyable JRPG, and I've already returned to it. Somewhere between a  and a  rating. I didn't really feel like anything was so amazing, it was worth a Platinum this time around. But I've changed my ratings after completing games in previous events, so that could happen here. 
2. Red Faction: Guerrilla- Really fun open-world game, with a crazy amount of destruction. Also sits between a  and a  rating. Definitely will be going back to. May or may not try to Plat. 
3. White Knight Chronicles- JRPG with a pretty crazy storyline, and a ton of fun to play.  to  rating. Will likely attempt to play through the stories of both games, as they're not super long. Both can be completed in less than 30 hours a piece, supposedly. Plat very unlikely. Me and 100+ hour games don't mix very well, let alone 500+. ^^' 
4. Roundabout- This was extremely silly, but a blast to play. Trying not to hit things with your constantly rotating limo, and watching silly movies with real people in between.  rating. Probably won't ever complete, unless that glitched trophy gets patched. Even then, though, it may not happen. That 8 hours straight driving mission is a turn off. And then all the challenges you have to complete are tough. Completing missions in a certain amount of time, not taking a single hit during them, etc. But still, highly enjoyed playing it. 
5. Star Wars Battlefront- This was quite a bit of fun to me. And I love that there's an option to make it an FPS or a 3rd Person Shooter. I might still play it from time to time. Completed during event, though, so it will just be for fun.  rating. 
6. Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day- This was another wacky game, but a lot of fun to play. Mostly a sidescroller, where you slash your way through levels as fast as possible. Levels are short, taking only 2-3 minutes. But you'll need to play them a number of times, to find all the collectibles.  rating. 
7. Dokuro- Really solid platforming puzzler. Also, quite challenging. About midway, or a little after, I just gave up on trying to solve things, and resorted to following the videos. :/ Not an extremely hard Plat, if you can get through the levels in a decent amount of time, while picking up the hidden coin in each. But can be very tricky, getting through some of them.  rating. 
8. Resogun- Really good bullet hell game, but quite difficult. For me, at least. Only beat it on the lowest difficulty. :/ So I have no idea if I'll be able to Plat it, at this point.  rating. 
9. Foul Play- Fun beat 'em up, with a fairly deep battle system. Some challenges were tricky, but not too difficult of a Plat.  rating. 
10. Headlander- Was a pretty fun and funny metroidvania, but there were some things I found a bit annoying. Fairly easy completion.  to  rating. 
11. Crysis 2- I didn't really care for this one as much as I did the first. Maybe it had been hyped up too much in my mind, as a really great shooter. Or I waited too long to play it after the first, and played much better games in between then and now. But it wasn't that good to me. Plat seems unlikely.  to  rating. 
12. Dark Cloud 2- Seemed like an interesting JRPG, with a dungeon crawling format. Only played for 3 hours, so didn't get a really indepth conclusion. But wasn't exactly wowed by the gameplay, and think the Plat is going to be tedious with the whole "take pictures of attacking enemies for ideas" thing..  to  rating. 
13. Abyss Odyssey- Was happy to get this on Plus, as I had considered buying it a few times. Decent game, but gets repetitive, as you simply repeat dungeon runs to level your characters.  rating. 
14. Falling Skies- I think if I complete this, it's going to have to be something I slowly chip away at. Playing it in large doses would just get too boring, I think.. Been told it's similar to the X-Com games, which I have only played the third person shooter spinoff of. I really liked that game. This one... not so much.  rating. 

It's hard to say if all of these are in exactly the order I preferred them. A lot of the gold ratings were on equal footing, for instance. But there they are. And now it's time to continue working on repairing the damage done to my completion. I already went back to FFXIII-2 yesterday, and brought it up a couple hundredths of a percent. Lol. This is going to take awhile..

Shadow of Mordor: GOTY vs. Until Dawn

I didn't get a chance to play either game as much as I would've liked to form a solid opinion but I enjoyed both games for the time I played them. The winner this final period was Shadow of Mordor as it was a much more substantial game.

 

Shadow of Mordor: GOTY - 1% (1 of 75 trophies) - My personal rating:

This looks like a big, beautiful (in terms of graphics, environmentally you seem to be running around Mordor which isn't supposed to be pretty but maybe later or in DLC you go to some more picturesque locations?) game with plenty to do. You play a recently deceased guard of Gondor who is denied the release of death and teamed up with a mystery wraith to extract vengeance on the orc horde of Sauron, particularly the Black Hand of Sauron who killed you and your family. That's interesting because the only wraiths ever mentioned in LOTR were the wearers of the rings of power who were bound to Sauron's master ring and were never portrayed as anything other than obedient servants of Sauron. So you traverse a large open world killing groups of orcs and completing main missions with other side missions and collectibles to find along the way. I understand the comparisons this game got to the Batman Arkham games as the combat is similar and works well for large groups. Attack, counter and stun enemies while juggling your focus as appropriate. There also seems to be a rather involved mini-game (that a lot of the trophies are tied to) about messing with the orc army leaders. Interrogating minions for information, exploiting weaknesses in their defences, even influencing who gets promoted through the ranks. It seems interesting but I haven't really got into it yet. I really like what I've seen so far and look forward to getting further.

 

Until Dawn - 0% (0 of 19 trophies) - My personal rating:

The third narrative focused game courtesy of PS+ in the last two months, this time set in a horror story genre. A very good looking game that controls well enough with game like elements interspersed throughout such as QTE's and timed aiming sections that liven up what would otherwise be an exercise in walking around and simply forwarding a story. The game shifts perspectives frequently to follow the story of 8 teenagers vacationing at an isolated mountain lodge where the situation inevitably turns dire. I found certain aspects of the story to be incredibly silly, such as the characters insistence to go on and on about the butterfly effect (choices effect the story!) and the parts with the physiologist who is about as subtle as Dr. Crane from Batman (aka Scarecrow). I suppose a little silliness is to be expected from the genre. There are a lot of collectibles that tie into the story in different ways. Between the collectibles and trophies tied to situational conditions the platinum isn't a total handout like Game of Thrones was. Overall I would say it's a very enjoyable game but it didn't quite have the same grab on me that Life is Strange did.

 

I'd like to thank @Hemiak for hosting this event and everyone else who participated or who bothered to read my reviews. I found out about some interesting games and some other games that it didn't sound like I would be too interested in and I hope someone finds my reviews somewhat useful. My completion rate went down 5.18% so I guess in that regard at least I know I was successful. I found it harder than I thought it would be to write up short game reviews, I suppose it's easy to assume things are easy until you try them. It's good to have an excuse to exercise different skills and maybe now we'll all get sweet jobs reviewing games from industry websites.

I just earned a single Trophy

 

SO I understand this is a great game for the Ps4 and that's why I bought it. Having said that Its really not the type of game for me. I mean i have several AC games and only finished AC 2.

Also I had Infamous for a long time and took me 1 year to plat it so these kinds of open world AC type games aren't really my type of thing. 

 

Its not because of the open world factor because I dig that, but its the type of gameplay of climbing and killing and running Idk its just not for me or I'm doing things wrong.

 

Even so This game Is off course very good and I like the lord of the rings theme so really I had to get it.

 

I haven't played much but I can see myself playing more and maybe liking it more.

Dying Light - I'm in love with this game. It has everything an open world should have. Its fun and Addictive. - 9.5/10

  Biggest disappoint for me since a long time. The artstyle is shit, the story may have some interesting tidbits and at least tries to link 999 and VLR but it's still unsatisfying. And the whole reveal of the real Zero (which I experienced yesterday) was just some stupid bullshit move. Will finish it as, all that's left is watching some story sequences but will sell it afterwards.
  The only thing I like:
  Somehow my gif fits the game's theme well.

 

Closing words

Luckily the amount of crappy games is rather low this time, even if some games are hit or miss for me. The more loose rules for the event surely helped to make it a more relaxed experience.  I hope that I will give the decent and good games of this event a bit more gaming time in the next few days and weeks, although my temptation to start yet another game is just too high. The recent purchases Sundered, Crash-trilogy, Cosmic Star Heroine, and Citizens of Earth are just too tempting.

Final wrap up. Well, even though I started 4 more games than usual, I seem to have had the smallest drop in completion yet. Part of this was due to not actually earning a trophy in one game, but I really think the difference was that I split my time between things to play alongside my wife, and things for myself. I was able to get a larger chunk of my own games and made a lot more progress than usual. 

 

Final stats: 125 platinums (+6, 1 non event game) 

Completion: 72.56% (73.45 start = - .89% ) 

Non event games/trophies earned: 1 game, 2 trophies (1 Plat) 

 

Lumo - 43/43

This game was really fun. I didn't really know what to expect here and was treated to a fun little game that really grabbed me. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes old school feeling games or Platformers. 

 

Jotun - 37/37

I only bought this because I knew it was UR and was supposed to be challenging. It is a beautiful hand drawn game with some really cool story and lore. Just beating the game isn't too hard and doesn't take that long, though the road to platinum will definitely take some work. 

 

Titan Souls - 28/28

 Score - 8/10

This game was pretty fun. It's a simple find a boss, kill the boss, go find the next one game. It has old school type graphics but solid gameplay. The bosses are varied and finding the right strategy is really satisfying. 

 

Infamous First Light - 2/25

 Score - 8/10

This game looks amazing. It's a huge improvement over the first ones. The story seems OK so far and the game handles amazing. I'll definitely be returning to this soon to see where it goes. 

 

Until Dawn - 0/19

 Score - 7/10??

This is kind of a hard one to pin down as I didn't get a ton of time with it. It seems really well done so far, and I'll Def finish it to see where it goes. Just need to get started early enough in the evenings when Mim isn't falling asleep yet. 

 

Hunter's Legacy - 13/14

 Score - 7/10

This game was pretty good. It's not really a true Metroidvania, but it has some of those aspects. The story is pretty weak, and the game is pretty short in general. Glad I payed less than $3, but it was more than worth that. 

 

Color Guardians - 46/46

 Score 6/10

This game was ok. The graphics are bright and the controls are simple. It's pretty light on story but that's OK. This honestly kind of feels like something you might play on your phone. It's pretty easy except for one trophy, which can be cheesed without too much effort. My kids like it do I won't delete it right away. 

 

I Am Bread - 8/35

 Score - 6/10

This game is as wierd as its name implies. The controls are purposely bad but hilarious... Unless going for the platinum. It's by far the best bread Simulator out there.

 

Abzu - 4/12

 Score - 6/10

If you like Journey you'll like this. Game Is pretty and finding the different animals is pretty interesting. Not a ton of content, but well worth the...

 

Deadly Tower of Monsters - 9/24

 Score - 5/10

This is a top down shooter set in a B-Movie. The acting and plot are pretty cheesy but fit the game. It apparently just isn't my cup of tea, though I will most likely return at some point when I'm bored. 

 

Valiant Hearts - 9/20

 Score - 5/10

Interesting game set during WWI. The story is definitely the main attraction here, but I dozed off several times on different nights due to the extremely minimalistic game play. 

 

Everybody's Gone To the Rapture - 1/19

 Score - 5/10

Another snooze fest. Apparently heavily based story games with no gameplay aren't really my thing. Even though it's kind of intriguing to find out what happened to the people, the slow pace just wasn't enough to keep me interested... Or awake. 

 

Tearaway Unfolded - 3/35

 Score - 2/10

Yuck. I was expecting something more like LBP and was highly disappointed. Even my wife, who likes games like this, was unimpressed. I most likely will never return to this, though I left it on my ps4 in the kids game folder. 

 

Day of the Tentacle - 58/58

 Score - 2/10

This game definitely solidified the fact that point and click games aren't my thing. Mim really wanted to see how it turned out so I bucked up, opened up a walk through, and soldiered on. Best thing I can say about this game is that it's a short Plat.... Which is something I never say. 

 

The only game I played other than allotted ones was FFX. It's one of my favorite games, and I've been chipping away for over two years. I got to the point where it was just grinding to finish and did an hour or so a night until the final trophy popped.

Game #8 of 8: No Man's Sky
 
My rating: - Platinum/Platinum/Gold - You probably all know the premise of No Man's Sky by now. Take control of a space traveller on a planet somewhere near the outer rim of the galaxy; explore but the tiniest fraction of the trillions upon trillions of procedurally-generated worlds and star systems within; find, make or trade for resources that can help you make your way to the centre of said galaxy... for reasons I don't quite know yet.

 

So you awaken on your first planet, needing to mine various elements to fix your busted spaceship before you can go anywhere, and the first thing that I noticed was that figuring out the controls and getting to grips with the menu system and interface is a bit tricky. The game tries to explain it all via messages in the bottom right corner, but there are some key things that it doesn't tell you. We really needed a manual to give a full overview of the basics - for all of the giant leaps forward that gaming has made over the last few decades, the death of the instruction manual is hardly the greatest development in the industry's history. No manual is no problem in most games with one fixed tutorial level, but clearly such a thing wouldn't fit in with a game where a big draw is that no two players will get the same experience from the very start. This caused a couple of unnecessary deaths in the opening minutes; namely, dying of radiation exposure after a long, slow walk for my first minerals by not realising that I could run, and thinking that I had more health than I actually did when confronted with hostile drones. After the first half hour, you'll get 90% of it down, but even now, there are still a few functions that I'm only learning about by reading what others have posted on the internet.

 

After a while, you'll find all you need to blast off into space and truly begin your interstellar adventure. If it hasn't already done so, this is where No Man's Sky's immense scale will hit you. Travel between planets could take many hours (in real time!) using your ship's standard engines, so you are given powerful rocket boosters and pulse drives to speed things up in outer space. This works great normally, but it does lead me on to another problem I have - combat.

 

There are groups of pirates out to get you, especially if you're hauling valuable items or elements, and fighting them off is no easy task so early in the game when all you have is a sluggish ship with weak weapons and poor shielding. So I should just speed away to safety, right? Unfortunately, no - your boost is deactivated and so you are forced to fight almost unwinnable space battles. Maybe I just suck at this part of the game, but I really don't like this inability to duck the fight - shooting down enemies gives you good minerals that you can't seem to find anywhere else, so there's always an incentive to do battle, but at the moment, I would rather wait until I can get my hands on a beefier ship and then pick my battles. Almost certain deaths followed by long flights to retrieve my gear from my previous resting spot is starting to wear on me a bit.

 

So there's a couple of reasons to dislike No Man's Sky - but if you're like me and love finding secrets and exploring every square inch of your games... to the point where your game completion times are usually twice as long as most people, you will find 18 quintillion reasons to love it. The gorgeous visuals twinned with the sheer diversity of planets with outposts, ruins, flora and fauna scattered throughout makes this game an explorer's dream. So long as you're not being hunted down by deadly animals, it's the perfect game for just sitting back and relaxing. You just never know what you'll find over the next hill, and if you see nothing of interest, just walk for 2 minutes in the opposite direction or go back to your ship and fly to a different part of the planet and you'll inevitably bump into some cool stuff soon.

 

So far, I have experienced:

 

- a radioactive rocky planet with massive cave systems, vast iron reserves and the most beautiful purple sunsets.

- a planet with huge grasslands, rock arches, towers of gold everywhere and large yellow killer squirrels.

- a planet with the perfect climate and very abundant mineral resources but infested with all sorts of deadly creatures.

- a marshy moon with lovely flowers but almost no plutonium to charge my ship's launch system. That one necessitated a miles-long walk just to find barely enough of the stuff, but the scenery made it feel like not much of a chore.

- a desert planet where I found a large spaceport in the middle of nowhere full of aliens and robots to trade with.

- a lifeless ice world with an ancient ruin nearby. Checking that out for any length of time without freezing to death will be hard given that it's -107 Celsius here.
 
I feel like I could spend a lifetime getting to know any one of these worlds, but alas I have to move on at some point... an excellent variety of places so far, and there's still 99.99999999999999997% of the game I haven't seen yet (apologies if there's one too many or one too few 9s there)!

 

Finally, both your ship and your spacesuit have a very limited capacity for carrying the things you find and the elements you mine, and this leads to a lot of inventory management. It sounds very tedious, but I like it, especially on hazardous planets where everything feels like a life or death decision - do you choose to fill your slots with things you need to survive but leave little room left to carry anything else, or do you leave yourself plenty of room to stash valuables, but end up facing a race against time to return to the safety of your ship before you succumb to the conditions?

 

A couple of issues aside, if a voyage of discovery taking in entire galaxies sounds like as much fun to you as it did to me, you have simply got to check out No Man's Sky.

Ok, my attempt at adding a nice table failed.....

At least you guys now can see now my percentage had a 2.37% drop in completion so the event was a succes

Did some decent progress last night. Went back to Ride and got the plat for it. So far it's the best motorcycle racing game I've played. I'll definitely will be getting the second one, once it's at a more reasonable price.

 

Also played a little bit of Dead Effect 2, but it just doesn't cut it. It gets boring too fast and I can't be arsed with grinding the missions. So this one will have the same end like Foul Play did and get deleted.

 

 

I'll probably be alternating between a few of the remaining games from this event. I'll probably make one of them my 200th plat.

This time I liked all my played games in some way. Game number one this month was Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's one of the best games I played in a long while. It just feels right all around. You should definetly play this game if you can.

All the other games were on very equal levels. There are a few I liked a bit more than others, namely Snake Pass and Citizens of Earth, but the other games were quite fun too.

I probably should have played Action Henk a bit more but due to a very busy weekend I hadn't the time for that.

I don't know when I'll continue with my played games but I want to play at least Horizon and Tiny Troopers rather sooner than later. But first I'm going to wrap up Gat out of Hell.

Thanks to @Hemiak for another great event and to all the participants. I didn't end up buying much games played by poeple here this time.
