Popular Post Valkirye22
Just curious for some feedback from fellow trophy hunters. The game as a whole is amazing and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it but putting that aside if we start talking trophies it becomes a nightmare, at least for me. So after finishing the story I'm pretty sure I went around the map 20 times for all the bones, the dream catchers, the legendary fish (oh the fishing... I blame FF15 for the surge of that in modern games e.g. Far Cry 5; really it is not enjoyable twisting my thumbs for 10 minutes for that god damn salmon), the weapons etc.... there is really no "fast travel" per se, at least in GTA you could cut your time short with a helicopter here I nearly killed my horse 50 times because I am sick and tired of riding around ditches and mountains after my first 14 laps of the Grizzlies. I've got a lot of platinums behind me and there were some grindy (anyone remember 400-odd feathers and other bs in Assassin's II?) bits but this takes the cake. I mean I would maybe even stretch for the animals the ludicrous 144 of them but the exotics collectables? And the challenges and the luck/rng hunting? It just killed it for me. I only ever platinumed games I enjoyed be they difficult or long or both but after all the amazing stuff in RDR2 it just turns into a train-wreck there is no fun to be had in 30-50 hours worth of running from A-B and hoping to find a pretty flower or a pristine rat. Respect to anyone that will go through with everything! ?
Popular Post MosesRockefeller
I'm not a serious trophy hunter so it isn't saying as much for me... but I knew from the moment I preordered the game that I would never even try to Platinum RDR2. I'm not even going to get Gold Medals for all the missions. The road to the Platinum in this game is way too tedious for me. That being said, I'm having a blast playing it. It's a great game. But I think the RDR2 Platinum is only for the real gluttons for punishment. That takes a level of commitment that I know I don't have.
Popular Post JaapertNL
Totally agree with you. Trophy wise this game is a nightmare and unfortunately of the 200+ hours you have to put in the game to get 100% at least 50% (100+ hours) is complete nonsense. I am just working on the animals and the perfect pelts and was wondering why they did not call this game National Geographic. I would have preferred to see more and complicated challenges which actually have something to do with the game (robberies, heists, killing, etc. etc.) than just sitting outside and waiting for hour to get the animal you need and the perfect kill. I think the popularity of this game will drop significantly over the next weeks once people have completed the story and have to start working on the immense grind of this game. Personally (after I have finished the story) I think I will keep playing it once in a while for a few hours to get some stuff out of the way.
Popular Post MrMike1377
Well, yea, I pretty much missed my opportunity even though I got the missable trophies but Getting gold on missions with reply mission is just a no-go for me. I love hard games and I played a lot of hard games but there's a fine line of difference between something hard and something cheap or poorly designed. Red dead redemption 2 is a very good game but it has some flaws just like other games. On to the topic, yes I agree with you. The list is long and grind as hell with a lot of missable trophies. I don't like the hunting system not because it's bad, it's just me not liking these type of stuff so skin all animals trophy is a pain in the ass for me. Gold rush trophy: If you don't plan this from the beginning you are pretty much fucked. Replying missions in mission select mode is much much harder and some of them are impossible or you need to be lucky af (Time limited ones). Some people do it in their first playthrough (Best logical way) but I couldn't do that cause it really destroys the immersion. I don't even wanna talk about that missable island, I still have one snake left to be skinned. Online is not out yet so consider another 100+ hours or so for level 50 trophy. Overall this is not a hard list, it's very long and time-consuming with some poor design choices (IMO) . Feral
I'm actually kinda keen to give it a go even with bloody MP trophies. It'll probably take years but hopefully it will happen.
JrsAlster
It's a lovely game but when it comes to trophies and also when all of us are playing it so early so there is no 100% guide out for us, its a really pain in the ass with all those missables... I'm still going for platinum, but I'm not gonna rush it. It might take a couple of months or it might take a couple of years for me to get this platinum. Who knows?
waeush84
Helpful insight; now those 100-hour work weeks really don't make any sense.... Edited January 12, 2019 by waeush84
hore
haven't started the game yet, so i can't relate i waited ~8 yrs for this game, so waiting another 1-2 weeks for optimized trophy guides + time-saving exploits was the only logical choice for me

Makes sense for folks getting those paychecks. I don't get how that translates to any gamer burning themselves out though.
KingTom95
I'm currently in chapter 6 with over 100 animals skinned, I'm not done with the story but I don't think that I will lose interest or motivation. I hate collectibles but i really enjoy hunting and because of the atmosphere and detail I could spend years playing this game.
Deluziion90
Currently at 118/178 animals skinned and around 2 hours into the Epilogue. I'm wondering daily if I'm going for this platinum or not. I love the game but it's just too crazy what needs to be done. I'll probably grind out most things except for the gold rush that will be something for the future. I still got Spyro the 13th of November which I'm really looking forward to and Persona 5 which is also a 100+ hours platinum
Infected Elite
never planned to. too crazy. just going to do main story and whatever side stuff comes along that isnt too bad still on fence with Spyro, and kind of want Darksiders 3, and to start Yakuza. plus Smash will be out in a month, which I've lost interest in regardless, finishing red dead asap as more games will be out soon.
closertim
I wish there were no missable trophies. I don't mind that it'll take me a year or so but I don't want to replay the game again.

Going for those Gold medals is going to destroy my experience for myself. So I'm just enjoying the game for what it is
Popular Post Akrioz
I actually felt the same way at the PS3 GTAV release. Completed the story in a week, looked at what I needed to do for the platinum, booted up the game, played for a half an hour... And sold it. Only four years later I got it for PS4(right after playing godawful Watch dogs 2) and achieved platinum shortly after. Long story short: if you get overwhelmed by the grind - just get a break and do it one step at a time. Or else it can quickly result in burnout.
RiverBeaver
Maybe this is isn't the right game for you to do Platinum. I would suggest to only Platinum the games you aloso like. Gaming is done for fun, not because it is a stupid chore. ? In RDR1 I for example didn't do the poker games, becasue I don't like those. As for the feathers in assassins Creed2, I kinda liked that one. Just wandering around and visiting places. And that is also how I play this game, I like to explore the wild and discover nature and try to track/skin/study every animal to 100% completion. Also I like fishing, and finding new species. OrionsOdyssey
I will be going for it purely because I find I enjoy the grind. I’ve put 100+ hours into it already with 130/178 animals skinned and I still enjoy playing every moment and doing all the hunting. The gold medal missions will be the only thing I won’t enjoy probably but I’ll be doing that on a new game instead of replaying them.
iGGTheEnd
I got %50 percent of trophies already and that's without the multiplayer but the last 6 trophies are going to take me longer than the other 25+ combined. I am about 60-80 hours in, in just one week so for now I need to step back and take a break because I am a little burnt out but I hope over the next year or two I can put a little time into red dead here and there to clean up the plat. It all depends on weather or not I enjoy the multiplayer tho. All my friends are on Xbox so I don't know if I can grind rank 50 without having friends to play with it could get boring.

Gibbo_0113
I would have gone for 100% if there were no trophies anyway like i did for GTA IV before i downloaded the trophy patch (twice in fact) and i enjoyed every minute of red dead redemption multiplayer and GTA online so i doubt the platinum will be a chore for me.
Fish613
Try to platinum Orcs Must Die: Unchained..... then you'll feel better about how grindy RDR2 is

Yokimoto
I’m going for it and I’m enjoying it so far. I’m only chapter 2 as I’ve been doing far more exploring than missions and I’m having fun going for the animals. Not excited for the gold medals but with the replay feature it’ll be fine
