Games that you WON'T play for trophies?

Any games that you refuse to play for trophies? I know trophy hunters (myself included) play some pretty sketchy games for trophies. Or games that we otherwise wouldn't normally play. But what are some games that you WON'T play no matter what. I refuse to have these on my list regardless of how easy the trophies are.

Any zero value shit "game" that clearly was only produced to make a few bucks off of the people who want to boost their account level and devalue their platinum collection. My Name Is Mayo comes to mind, probably would not even get this thing if it was on offer for free. Obviously I would not play other games that are notorious for being utter trash, like the legendary turd "Ride To Hell Retribution" or the new king of the pile "Samael Legacy of Ophiuchus" because the bling these games reward you with is not nearly worth the misery you feel playing them, and also because rewarding shitty developers is not something I often get behind.

 

I rarely play a game solely because of the trophies, and I almost never pass on a game because of trophies (Super Meat Boy and OMDU are proof of that) unless trophies are impossible. If I am to look for a game to play because I want the trophies it has, I still make sure that I am getting some fun out of it or, if it is a long grind, that I at least enjoy the core gameplay enough to power through this grind.

• Girls games like Barbie, horse riding, Hannah Montana etc
• Anime pervy games aimed at adolescents.
• Kids games - I do like games I can play with my daughter like Unravel, Ratchet and Clank etc
• Any other game where the platinum feels like it's given rather than earned unless it's a damn good game.

Although I do got a lot of other questionable games on my account but in order for a game to be on my account I usually have to have a 1% interest in it whether in the gameplay, or to try something different or to laugh at how bad the game is, which is how games like Life of Black Tiger wind up on there.

Because I steer clear of games that are "online centric". your Call of Duty, Battlefield, Destiny, Overwatch, Fortnite, PUBG's of the world. Games where their major focus is you playing online....I'm just not into them. 

 

Nothing else is really off limits. I mean there's plenty of games where I don't even look in their general direction and will probably never be played, such as Soulsbourn games, I have nothing against them personally...but I don't do super hard games that hard just to be hard, so I have no interest in them...but those are more likely to be played than the ones I mentioned above. Online-centric is really the ones I steer clear of.

It's as simple as that really, I'm certainly not going to be playing some cheaply made garbage to inflate a number. I'll have no issue playing a game that's easy (something rarity snobs would avoid) if I enjoy the game, I still have Spiderman in my backlog and I'm damn sure I'll play and 100% that game, not sure why someone would pass on it solely because it's 'too common' (yes, people actually do that...)

 

Anything goes so long as I enjoy the game and I'm enjoying how I'm playing it.

 

Currently I'm playing Apex, I don't normally enjoy Battle Royale games but I've really gotten the taste for this one in particular, I'll likely 100% it at some point as, well, it's almost unavoidable through natural play (very easy list indeed, just a win with each character, 2 of which need to be unlocked by currency earned levelling up and reach level 50 which on PSN a whole 1% of all players ALREADY have, I've seen way higher levels too). I'll have no shame in that easy completion, because I enjoyed it.

 

Though I'll give a shout out to Slyde as a game I won't, I only mention it because that's a game which doesn't take time so it wouldn't be an unenjoyable chore to quickly do that neither would it cost (I usually end up spending remaining funds on an avatar, but could easily just get Slyde) yet despite that I admit I wouldn't add that game. I think it just gives the wrong impression when someone sees it, the assumption is immediately that, even if you're not a trophy whore, that you at least 'care' about trophies and I do not, saves me from getting slapped with some kind of false identity as a trophy guy.

That. If it wasn't meant to be quality entertainment consumed by sensible consumers, I'm not interested. Trophies are secondary to enjoyment in most cases.

All of them. I play games because I think I'd enjoy them. If it simply happens to have trophies/a platinum that I find interesting or challenging, sure, I'd go for it. But I don't play, nor buy games for their trophy lists.

Shooters, sports games and anything with trophies that require playing with someone else.  I don't care if the game has easy trophies if the game sounds like it could be fun.  In fact I find those sorts of games to be good to play in between longer games to refresh myself.

Yeah... I made that mistake. I thought "Elder Scroll online, what could possible go wrong?" I wish I looked into it a little more. Not only was the trophy list near impossible, the game itself was complete garbage. At the time, I had never been so disappointed in a franchise. That lasted until Fallout 76.
