Maybe because I already have a large collection of trophies, that satisfies me, I am becoming less and less willing to go for trophies that I don’t find enjoyable. An example of this is that infamous trophy from “Titanfall 2”. Coordination (doing several things at the same time) is something I really struggle with, so this trophy is way out of my ability/skill level. Some nice people here encouraged me to keep trying and I appreciate that, but I just don’t want to do it, you know? I don’t enjoy this gauntlet thing at all and I don’t have any fun trying to improve my time; it’s just something extremely stressful and nerve-wracking. If attempting a trophy makes me feel bad, then I don’t think it’s worth it. A trophy has to be, primarily, fun, even if it’s hard. Nowadays, I don’t have any problems in leaving a game unfinished if I feel it’s time to move on or if going for the trophies is not enjoyable anymore. Venocide Posted October 17, 2020 Share Posted October 17, 2020 I don't think I care about trophies anymore, I've only earned one trophy since May, I was playing Star Ocean 4 at the time and it completely killed my interest in trophies. I always tend to take a break from trophy hunting if a game gets too much, but this is the longest I've gone without earning a platinum but I'm honestly glad, because I've quit trophy hunting I've started playing other games for fun, I recently got 121 stars in Super Mario Galaxy, didn't need to...there was no reward at the end, but I did because it was super fun. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

These days, I find that I quickly lose interest in a game without that allure of trophies/achievements. Funny because I feel like I'm more of a completionist on the switch rather than on PS4. Just because it's more of a freedom and it's more fun and rewarding. Many NES and Sega games were built around this. In Batman: The Video Game, you ran out of lives, it's back to the start of the level. And that was fucking generous compared to what most games gave you. I commend anyone who beat stuff like Ninja Gaiden on the NES. Now that is an accomplishment. I can’t see a percent bar based on my input and not want to fill it up. I just can’t, and I really can’t understand people who can. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a 100% profile, and I won’t go nuts trying to finish a game I hate, or avoid games that seem too hard to 100% or any of those negative behaviours, but I can’t just not try to max out all those bars. That would just feel like baking in failure as a base state. that would be saying “I am going to do this thing half-arsed.” That would be being broken. With trophies I have a goal and enjoy the game with everything it has to offer. Some trophies are retarded grinds but when getting that 100% I feel satisfied every time. Also thanks to trophies I’ve discovered many games I would normally never even play.
