S_y_n_e_IR_g_Y
Hey mate, no Problem just drop me a message if I can help you in any way with Time Crisis. I've tried to copy the Video step by step and keeping the Chain up, to get more points. What i've heard from most people, the hardest mode in Time Crisis is sentry mode. Well, I got used to boost everything on my own. A Turbo Controller helps also a lot. I’ve boosted almost everything on my own, thanks to the Support from @Bizzy_Montana_,I’m always provided with enough consoles and Game Copies. We’ve boosted also Games like Singularity with 6 Consoles together, so the time save is huge, so all credit goes to him! For the Platinum Day / Trophy Checklist: Overall my Goal is to get a good Number of Platins in 1 Day, that’s why there is always one easy single Trophy missing. For the date of the Platin Day I’m not sure yet, maybe in the next 2 Years, but it depends on the Games, so far I try to finish most of the online Trophys at First. I’ve promised so many people, that I will create the Thread about my Platin Day soon, but unfortunately couldn’t find the time yet. I will try my best to create it this month. The Goal is to cover all Games that are prepared so far, my whole Backlog and a lot more Details. If you are interested, you should also checkout @westersburg, he holds the current world Record with 254 Platins in 1 Day. He is currently preparing his next project. There is also @DW-UltraFan , he already prepared over 800 Games.. If I remember correctly his Goal is to prepare 1000 Games. It's something I'm strongly considering when I'll be moving out. Like I said I'm curious to know more in-depth details about the whole process along with the final result ? 1,000 games is a crazy number would be nice to see how he will be going through with it. You can maximize the time you're allocating yourselves by waking up a couple minutes before midnight then pop as much platinum trophies as you could in the span of 24 hours. You guys can even stream record the whole process and post it on the net. It's funny because some people (including me) hate to see an unfinished game in their profiles, so we will always try to complete the games we started before moving on to the next one. You guys are doing the complete opposite, getting all the trophies done except for one easy to pop all platinums in the same day. It's nice to see that every profile has its own identity, every gamer is different haha ? Edited November 3, 2021 by PlutoRico

You've got a nice profile with some great games completed, hats off ! I agree with you tho, being satisfied when you take a look at your profile is way more important than chasing numbers. I was reluctant to start from scratch at first but honestly I don't regret it one bit. I even wish I had done it sooner so I wouldn't have to go through some games twice haha You're also completing every game that you started so it's great. Looking forward to seeing where you go from here so I'll be following your progress from time to time. Feel free to drop by in this thread at any time, you're more than welcome here Thankyou! It's been hard work sometimes but I'm happy with my profile, the key to it is to play games you enjoy then it doesn't feel like such an effort when the trophies are hard or boring. I know the feeling though, I took way too long to create my new profile and there's even games I still have to platinum again but just haven't got around to it, but it's just a matter of time before you're back on pace and I'm interested in the road this will take. Also sounds good! I'll drop by even now and then aswell If in the future you need a hand with anything I have completed feel free to shoot me a message!
Popular Post PlutoRico
Update Hello everyone ! I hope you guys are doing good on this holiday season. It’s been a while since I updated my checklist, more than a month already, and I’m sorry about it. Real life problems been getting in the way recently plus I haven’t had as much time to dedicate to gaming as I wanted to for the past month. I finished some games here and there, and decided to write one big review about all of them instead of spreading them across multiple posts. Let's get going *drum roll* : On my last progress update, I talked about Time Crisis : Razing Storm. I had just finished the online component of the game and I wanted to focus on Arcade Mode because it is the last part of the game that requires you to be connected online, which means in case of a shutdown, the trophies related to this mode may as well become unobtainable. In Arcade Mode, you have a machine gun along with a ballistic shield as weapons. Using the PS Move, the analog trigger (L2) is for shooting while the home button allows you to either reload your weapon or take cover behind your shield if you hold onto it. You need to release the home button to be able to shoot, you can’t take cover and shoot at the same time. In addition to that, you have a limited number of 3 lives before you’re forced to either choose a continue or restart from scratch. Here is a video shared a few posts above by my good friend @S_y_n_e_IR_g_Y of the first stage in Arcade which sums up pretty well what I’m trying to describe : Gameplay wise it’s simple, it’s your classic arcade shooter. You get points by building combos and finishing the stages as fast as possible. There is 5 trophies related to this mode : finish Arcade, finish Arcade without using any continue, finish Arcade in less than 16 minutes, score more than 3,000,000 points and build up a 500 combo. I did some runs here and there these previous weeks and to be truly honest I have been struggling to put up a decent one. Arcade mode consists of 4 stages, I decided to practice the first one and repeat it again and again until I master it but I’m nowhere near the points nor the time requirements so far. And after a few failures, I’m feeling a lack of motivation to focus solely on that. Which switched my focus onto other games... I learned about the shutdown of NFL Blitz, an old PS3 football game and decided to tackle it before the servers closure on December 7th. First and foremost, as a quick introduction for those that don't know much about football rules, let me try to break it down to you in the simplest possible way. The team with the ball has 4 plays (called downs) to advance at least 10 yards (around 9 meters) in the field. If they reach that 10 yards mark, they get a new set of 4 downs to again advance at least 10 yards, and so on. If they fail to advance 10 yards during their 4 downs, it's a turnover and they give control of the ball to the other team. Teams score points either by reaching the opposite end of the field, the endzone, through passing/running the ball (called a touchdown, worth 6 points) or by kicking the ball through the goalposts (called a field goal, worth 3 points). NFL Blitz however, is nothing like your classic football game. Instead of 10 yards, you actually need to gain 30 yards in the game in order to get a first down. On defense, you need to use your strength and power through to stop the opponent from gaining yards. There is no penalty, it's a more violent type of football than a regular Madden for example. Playing good enough for a few plays in a row makes you earn a turbo, which increase the speed of your player during a run. A lot of antics are characteristic of the franchise, such as players catching fire on some ridiculous hits that would send a normal person straight to the hospital ? Some animations are quite entertaining though, like seeing a linebacker (defensive player) delivering a powerbomb to a wideout (offensive receiver) ? Others not so much, like when your defender grab a player and spin him around subsequently making him earn a few extra yards. Teams have ratings in 3 areas : offense, defense and special units (such as the kicking unit for example, who comes in the field only for field goal situations) but honestly, there isn’t much difference between them, I didn’t feel like I had more trouble winning against the best teams in the game, just like I didn’t feel less winning against the worst ones. Also, defenders have waaay more speed than they should’ve had, which allows them to catch up to receivers preventing them from a touchdown score. But you can’t really be mad at a game that is 10 years old honestly, it’s more entertainment than anything else ? Content wise, the game is packed. The Blitz Gauntlet is some sort of arcade mode (I’m starting to hate this word ) where you can customize your team and face a three-tier ladder, each ladder consisting of 3 games against NFL teams and then a boss battle against fantasy characters such as zombies, ninjas or lions (actual lions and not the Detroit Lions s/o @Helyx) with powerups scattered on the field that can give you some advantage such as speed, force or freezing the time to allow you to run plays down the field before the end of the game. Winning the boss battle unlocks the fantasy team for use in the game, which allows you for example to play with your favorite players zombies look alike. As for the online, the Elite League allows you to trade cards (just like MyTeam in 2k or FUT in Fifa), creating your team and earning Blitz Bucks which then allows you to buy packs or powerups. I struggled a lot to find a dedicated boosting partner to finish the online part of the game before the shutdown. In fact, I struggled so much that I picked up my phone and called a few friends to ask them if they still own a PS3, deciding I was gonna boost it by myself with 2 consoles. All of my gamer friends in real life don’t care much about trophies, so if they still have a PS3 at home, best believe they haven’t used it in years Thinking back about it, I honestly think I should've done this sooner, it's way easier when you have multiple consoles at home and don't have to always rely on other people to do some online trophies. I was able to get one and went on to finish NFL Blitz before the closure. I didn't encounter much trouble on my way to getting 100%, nothing was really hard, it was just a grind. Even tho I had to boost it myself, it was a fun experience overall and I don't regret starting this game. Now that I have a 2nd PS3 at home, I figured it would be smart to take advantage of the situation and tackle a few games in my backlog that require some sort of boosting. Which led me to… Deadliest Warrior : The Game and Deadliest Warrior : Legends are two fighting games based on a documentary television program in which information and compiled data about historical or modern warriors was used to determine which one of them was the “deadliest”. They went on to compare vikings vs samurais, the yakuza vs the mafia, the KGB vs the CIA and even George Washington vs Napoleon Bonaparte, nothing less ! ? Thus, the game allows you to take control of various warriors from different time periods and make them fight against each other in an open arena. Each warrior has a unique set of weapons and attributes, some lack armor but in return, they are faster in their movements while their alternate projectile weapon is smeared with poison. Others are slower because they wear a shield and/or a heavy armor, being specialized in stronger attacks. The games feature a somewhat realistic weapon damage system where you can break, amputate and even decapitate your opponents in a matter of seconds. Amputated arms will cause the warrior to bleed out, depleting their health gradually, which forces them to act quickly and try to finish the opponent before dying. The games also feature a single player arcade mode where you choose a character and then battle against 8 different ennemies one by one, a survival mode where you fight opponents one after another until you die and an online component where you can even fight in a tournament mode against other players. Deadliest Warrior : The Game is the first in chronological order, released in 2010. The game features 8 different warriors such as the Ninja, the Samurai, the Pirate or the Spartan. Deadliest Warrior : Legends looked to me like a more polished and more developed version of its predecessor. While characters were more generic in the first one, in Legends, the set of warriors is more specific, such as Sun Tzu, Hannibal or Attila the Hun. I struggled a lot for one trophy that requires you to remove an enemy's head with a projectile and stick it to the wall or ground. I couldn't take the damn enemy's head off, no matter the distance from where I shot my spear/javelin nor how weakened my opponent was. It took me 3 days and 7 hours to complete the game and it was mostly because of that one trophy But besides that one, nothing was really challenging. That’s it for the update my friends. I don’t think I will do a full length review for each of these 3 games since they are pretty old and nobody really cares about them anyway but I figured it would be nice to write some words about them since that's what I've been playing for the past weeks. I will be more active in keeping this thread up to date in the next few weeks/months. With the UR Cleanup starting soon, expect me go for a lot of UR in my upcoming games so fun times ahead What’s next ? After finishing both Deadliest Warrior I started Time Crisis again and did some runs in arcade without much success. I then heard about the upcoming shutdown of Laser League in February, and seeing that a boosting session was created, I bumped the game up in my priority list in order to finish it before the closure. I learned today that it has been delisted so I'm really happy I decided to go for it earlier than expected. Moral of the story : when you hear about the shutdown of a game you want to play, don't wait until the last few months/weeks, put all the games you're currently playing on hold and shift your focus on that one ? Popular Post PlutoRico
Thank you Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing good. As we are about the wrap up 2021, I wanted to write a little end of the year message for the gaming community. I created this checklist on October 19th and even if I had little traction for the past 2 and a half months, I wanted to thank anyone who passed by, checked on this thread and left a comment. I have always thought that people wouldn't be as interested in following my gaming progress nor reading my opinion on the games that I play so I'm really grateful for those that actually did, it means a lot for me and I thought you guys deserved a special message for the occasion ? @LosAngelesPride (I had to tag you, didn’t I ? ?) @rjkclarke @kevao97 @CelestialRequiem @Deadly_Ha_Ha @Arcesius @Briste @Baker @S_y_n_e_IR_g_Y @KindaSabbath (I have an announcement for you my friend, I'm sure you'll be happy to hear it ?) @DrBloodmoney @TheGreaterMoose With my fairly recent account, 2021 was in some way the appetizer haha, I’m hoping to achieve way more in 2022. I also want to bring more life to this thread, I noticed that there is a lot of “dead time” between two progress updates or reviews so I’m thinking about sprinkling my write ups with some gaming related articles or thoughts I may have from time to time. Thankfully, I have so many great checklists around from where I can pick up some inspiration. ? So in summary, my resolutions for 2022 : - Completing as many games as possible for the UR Cleanup - Bringing more life to this thread with gaming related topic and thoughts between two progress updates or reviews - Following each and everyone’s progress through the multiple great checklists that are around Short and sweet. Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrated it, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, wishing you all success in gaming but also in life. ?

Popular Post PlutoRico
Laser League Introduction First and foremost, it's important to note that this is a posthumous review. The game was delisted earlier this month and the multiplayer component will be discontinued by the end of February. When I learned about the shutdown, I bumped it on top of my priorities since it was a game I had been eyeing for a while. I got very lucky because I snatched it just a couple days before its subsequent delisting, the game had been sitting on my wishlist this whole time, waiting for a sale that never came (Roll7 games never go on sale ). Honestly I would have been pissed off if I missed out on this one haha. Anyway, without further ado, let's get into business. Laser League is a futuristic sports video game released in 2018 by Roll7, the creators of OlliOlli and Not a Hero. Perhaps the studio's most ambitious project to date, the modern-day indie product is a multiplayer focused game that also support local play. Set in 2150, two teams of either 2 or 3 players apiece compete against each other in a packed stadium on a wide array of unique maps. The goal is to eliminate the opposition using lasers scattered throughout the arena. During the match, empty nodes will spawn. By running through them, you will activate one or multiple lasers that take on your team’s color. Those lasers come in a large variety of shapes outlined by the empty node that gives you a preview of what’s about to come. Once activated, those said lasers won’t hurt you but will eliminate any opponent that comes in contact with them. At the beginning of the match, there is only a few available, but as the game carry on, the arena will be filled with more and more lasers with an expanding range. The more you control, the better chances you have to eliminate your opponents. You gain control of the lasers you activate for only a few moments, after that they disappear and you have to go through the node in order to reactivate them again. By eliminating all of your opponents, you get one point. The first team to 3 points wins the round. You need to win 2 rounds out of 3 to win the match. Gameplay This is textbook gameplay in its driest form, it's that simple. However it's more intricate than it seems. Laser League matches simplicity with depth in such an effortless way. A lot of slight elements conspire together to forge significant complexity. For example, the game implemented several things to get yourself out of tight spots. First off, there is the wall wrapping. When you run through a wall, you reappear on the other side, which can comes in handy more than a few times if a laser is blocking your way. You can also choose between a mixture of different offensive and defensive classes, each one having an ability along with a modifier. Here is a breakdown of these different classes : Smash : long range dash attack that sends an opponent tumbling across the map into potential danger Ghost : gives you a temporary invulnerability allowing you to pass through your opponents’ lasers or attacks Thief : allows you to convert your opponents’ lasers into your own Snipe : allows you to drop a marker on the field then draw a snap line by walking away from it. It timed correctly, any opponent that passes through the snap line can get eliminated Shock : stunning attack at range that makes your opponents vulnerable to lasers or any follow up attacks Blade : short range slash attack that can eliminate an opponent if aimed correctly You have a stamina bar that allows you one use of your ability before a cooldown of a couple seconds. As for the modifier, they can go from an extended time of the effect (thief) or the possibility of charging the stamina bar faster (blade). That's where the real fun begins. You can for example mix your Blade class with the possibility of recharging your ability upon every successful kill allowing you to chain together a complete team wipe in a couple seconds. Pretty efficient, but it requires timing and reflexes to pull off properly. Maybe you would be better off playing as a Thief so you can steal active nodes from your opponents and get them by surprise ? Or the Shock ability that stuns them for a couple seconds, leaving them at the mercy of the lasers roaming around ? By playing the game, you'll notice pretty early that the key to outlast your opponents is to strategically combine your classes between you and your teammates, giving you a considerable edge. In addition to those classes, another variable is the power-ups that appear regularly throughout a game. Ranging from covering the walls by lasers preventing the opponents from wall wrapping, changing the lasers' speed and shape, or stunning your opponents for a few seconds, they can be real game changers and turn the tide in your favor. A fallen soldier will leave a marker on the pitch, he can get revived if a teammate runs through it. As long as one member of the team is alive, the game isn’t over and he can revive his teammates as many times as possible. Of course you can also prevent opponents from reviving their own teammates by “camping” on the marker and attacking anyone who comes close by. Are you still not entertained ? ? If you don’t have enough partners to start up a game, you’re gonna be paired with A.I, and honestly, the bots are pretty decent in this game, utilizing a class of their own and reviving teammates when needed. Trophies As for the trophies, well they are pretty straightforward. You need a team of 4 players, you included, to get everything done in 2v2 matches. The two main trophies you are working for are : the prestige trophy, you will need to reach level 31 to prestige which is roughly 2,339,000 xp. You get xp by killing, reviving or winning rounds and matches. the leveling up in the different classes trophies. Each class has a set of 3 challenges that, when completed, makes you gain a level and brings 3 new challenges. You will need to reach rank 2 for each class then bring one of them all the way to rank 5 which is the classes cap level. We decided along with my boosting partners to do it with the Blade class since it was the most suited one to couple with the prestige trophy. It was also my favorite class because it was the only one that allowed for a direct kill. The rest of the trophies are some misc that you can get along the way : win 50 matches, activate 5,000 laser nodes, get 500 revives, 1,000 kills and so on. I would like to take advantage of this section to express a special shout out to my boosting partners : @VirtualNight @pot1414 and @Nicholasperdisci. Thank you my friends, we had some fun times haha. We need a last session together to finish with everyone but I'm pretty sure we can get it done in the next couple of days. ? Enjoyment and challenge Personally I had a lot of fun going for this platinum. It’s a multiplayer only title so some might think that it isn't for them. But above and beyond, Laser League works because it's well balanced. Even when you're down, you're never really out. Some abilities might be better suited for a particular map for example, and running around activating nodes or reviving teammates is a lot of fun as the balance of power often switches from team to team within a round. It's this balance that makes the multiplayer less intimidating while still retaining a competitive spirit and the reason why I think people could still enjoy it even if online heavy games aren't their cup of tea. As I said before, the gameplay is very basic, all there is to do in is run around and sometimes push a button on the controller. In fact, it’s the absolute simplicity of the control scheme that makes Laser League so approachable. Don’t get fooled tho, despite its simplicity, there is never a dull moment in the game, you are always paying attention to a multitude of things at once. Sometimes I felt like I got killed by a laser that didn’t reach me, but besides that, I felt the movement in this game to be very responsive and fluid. Don't believe the visions of a dystopian future – 2150 is going to be a blast. I can't really tell about the state of the human race by that time, but if the Laser League is around, the future is bright. You may be vaporized by a sweeping laser field or shoved into one by an opponent, but with quick thinking, twitch skills, and strategy, living in a state of constant near-death is more than just feeling alive, it's exhilarating. The future is dangerous, chaotic, and unpredictable, but it's full of exciting possibilities. Edited January 3, 2022 by PlutoRico

Happy New Year my friend, success in gaming but also in life in general thank you, a lot of success for you too and a great new year! hahaha, it was intentional yes, i will still play every game on my profile eventually, whether it is obtainable or not. i know my profile is a goddamn mess, and good games and great gems are hidden beneath platinums considered ezpz and duplicates, triplicates, and 0% etc., thus covering up some extremely difficult and troublesome games I've managed and hardly anyone would find. haha, but alright, slowly I get there! in 2022 i believe that life won't give me much time to organize things gaming-wise, but i would very much like to reach 500 platinum if possible, and then focus on other goals. strange as it sounds, I feel like in terms of quantity I'm saturated, so my interest would be in plating specific games and sagas, or specific obscure game trophies (I recently completed mega zombie ?, I'm working on Splitgate and Heavy Metal Machines, and also Star Trek Online)
KindaSabbath
Hey man - Happy New Year to you and yours! it’s great to see that you’ve really settled into and found your rhythm with your checklist! It’s good to see you also putting some solid write-ups out there too! While I’m not familiar with the recently completed Laser League, it was a great read nonetheless! I’m glad you had some fun with it, as you know already, that’s pretty much what it’s all about! It’s also good that you managed to get this one done in time and that you didn’t miss out on purchasing the game before it was pulled from the store. I am curious though to what the announcement could be? Hopefully it involves a motorcycle ?

The goal is to get it fully completed by March 31st before the 1st quarter Most Wanted List expiration date. I honestly have no idea if I'll be able to make it for that deadline but I'll do my best. I wanted to do some cleanup in my account first but I honestly might just start it and work on it while doing other games on the side ? I spent a lot of time looking through the games you've played and couldn't help but realize there was a lot of 0% list hiding some truly hidden gems and great things you've accomplished. Congrats on Mega Zombie and good luck on those other 3. If I'm being honest, all 4 games are on my wishlist (I think I discovered some of them thanks to your profile so thank you for the recommendations ) so I'll get around to also do them at some point even if the grinds associated look daunting to say the least ? Splitgate is a supreme grind that can go up to 400 hours, at the moment I'm about 100/1047 wins (not playing since last year lol) and Heavy Machines although all 10 trophies are UR, apparently they're easy; disabling crossplay, the game allocates you with bots, I played a few games and already had 10/100 wins, the biggest grind consists of 666 kills, I believe it will be an easy ? Star Trek seems quite complicated for the little I played, good lucky if you try any of them! I'm always looking for free games, the trophies seem to have something special that I like, I have a lot of free games completed.

Shrooba
Great progress for your new account man, 194 URs in 3 months? You're smashing it! ? Well done with Laser League as well; since the servers are shutting down I bet you're glad to have that one done. Having an unobtainable plat is like having a piece of history, so I bet you'll be quite proud of it. ? As you continue with other URs -- single-player ones specifically -- a good thing I rationalize to myself is that the plat will always be available, so if you ever feel stuck on any future games, remember you've got all the time you need. Patience is the most important key to success, but you know that since you've got so many beast completions already. ? Best of luck with your future games, you're doing very well thus far!

Thank you for stopping by and writing some kind words of encouragement my friend, I really appreciate it. Funny enough, I was lurking through your checklist the other day and that's exactly what I wanted to tell you regarding Crash 4 ? I'm sure with time, practice and patience, you'll be able to beat it. I also read that you wanted to tackle Trackmania after that. Best of luck man, it's a game that scares me to be honest so I'm really not looking forward to starting that one, especially since I'm beginner level when it comes to racers. But I saw the crazy things you've been accomplishing in CTR so that might not be a problem for you. Nevertheless, I will make sure to follow your progress, good luck my friend ?
Popular Post PlutoRico
Quantum Theory Introduction Quantum Theory is a Japanese 3rd person shooter game published by Tecmo. It has nothing to do with physics but can rather be considered as one of many Japan’s attempts to “appeal to the West” with a big steroid friendly cover shooter. Taking strong visual and gameplay inspiration from Gears of War, is it a theory worth testing ? Story and gameplay Set in a dark sci-fi world years removed from a world war that left the world in a terrible state, a phenomenon known as the Erosion has been threatening any living creature. Taking the form of an impregnable tower that attracts beings known as Diablosis, any organism that comes into contact with it becomes infected and hostile. Syd, the main protagonist, who built his life around destroying every tower around the world set his sights on conquering this one and taking down the Erosion. Along the way he meets a woman named Filena who has a mysterious connection to the tower. The game follows their quest all the way to the top of the tower, learning some disturbing truths about the Erosion and its real purpose. Gameplay wise, it’s your basic TPS that merges platforming elements with the use of a cover system. A successful headshot will trigger a slow motion close up view of the head exploding. During some chunks of the story, Filena will fight alongside you, she can assist for your melee attacks turning them into combos. Syd can also straight up throw her as a projectile weapon which one shot kill most of the enemies. Some sequences feature environments that can change dynamically, including moving platforms that Syd must hang on to or jump from while trying to kill enemies that are bombarding you with bullets. There is also a few bosses throughout the campaign, requiring the player to identify and target their weak points in order to take them down. One of the strongest point of the game is the rich variety of different weapons that come across your path. Syd always carries his signature weapon, The Revenant, a heavy pistol to which you can add 2 other weapons in your arsenal. Ironically, your lovely sidekick Filena might be your most powerful weapon when she's fighting alongside you, especially on hard against the different bosses. Trophies Trophy-wise, first of all 2 playthroughs are necessary. One trophy requires you to do a full playthrough only using the basic weapon you start with, The Revenant, so it is best to do it on easy mode. I actually got screwed on this one because I inadvertently switched weapons mid game, and even tho I didn’t fire a single bullet, the trophy didn’t unlock at the end which was ridiculous. I had to do a 3rd playthrough just for this trophy. There is also 50 collectibles you have to collect, a few fight related trophies that requires you to kill enemies with the help of Filena and some misc trophies chapter related. The 2nd playthrough is for the Hard difficulty trophies. You have to finish the game along with beating the time trials boss battles on hard. There is also a trophy where you are on a moving platform and you have to kill all enemies in the area before finishing with a boss fight. Finally there is an online component with a big and boring grind where you have to level up all the way to Immortal (1,000,000 XP). I'm amazed that the developers thought the game would be popular enough to justify implementing a big multiplayer with some trophies requiring up to 8 player I got this part done a few months ago and decided to finally finish up the single player this week. I would like to thank my boosting partners @Yuber6969 @Honor_Hand along with a few other people that aren't necessarily active on the forums. Enjoyment and challenge In terms of difficulty, some speedruns boss battles on hard were pretty tight considering the dodgy aiming mechanics. There was a few bosses where I had to retry again and again before I could finally get a successful run. The hardest trophy was 8 seconds with style where you have to kill all the enemies in an area while riding a moving platform. This proved to be quite annoying because the platform moves pretty fast especially at the beginning of the level which not only makes it harder to aim right but also gives you no indication whatsoever on if you killed the enemies or missed at one specific point, so this forces you to finish the level and hope it worked or else you’re going back for another ride. All in all, I felt like the 6/10 given in the guide was accurate. As for the enjoyment, let's put this straight : Quantum Theory has a lot of flaws, it's obvious. I honestly wasn't expecting a masterpiece when I booted it and after finishing the game, I can understand why the reviews were so harsh. The game looks dated, especially today more than 10 years after its release, the aiming is very dodgy, the AI quite poor and it doesn't do itself any favor by biting a large chunk of its style from a technically superior game in Gears of War. Added to that, the clunkiness of the platforming part where you are sometimes placed in do or die situation is particularly annoying, especially in a game where checkpoints are horribly designed leaving you to slog through painful sections repeatedly until you finally get that part right. It got to a point where even if Filena was to show her tits out at the end, it wouldn't have been worth the headache to get there ? Dodgy mechanics and poor platforming makes this theory not worth testing, especially in 2022. Edited May 5, 2022 by PlutoRico
Popular Post PlutoRico
OlliOlli & OliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood Introduction One of the best features of starting a new profile from scratch is that I can pick and choose my milestones from the very beginning and plan them ahead. However, I was faced with a problem when going for my 500th trophy milestone : NHL games from 14 through 18 are losing their online features in early June so I wanted to focus on them before their announced shut down. I am not a big hockey fan in real life, in fact, I didn't even know the rules before playing these games to be truly honest ? so I wanted another game, something more meaningful and more fitting, something I would enjoy more as my 500th trophy milestone. That's when OlliOlli came to mind. I remember the first time I watched videos about OlliOlli I was instantly hyped about it because it was showcasing everything I would want to do in a game like this. I could tell I was going to love it right from the start. I thought it looked fast on video and was wondering how difficult it would be to getting used to the pace. But besides that, I was eager to play this game haha. The devs behind this gem are none other than Roll7, the talented group of people that also gave us Laser League. And like I said in my review for that game, Roll7 games never go on sale, that's why I had to push back this game for so long, I was basically waiting for a sale that never happened ? Without further ado.. OlliOlli is a side scrolling skateboarding video game originally released on PS Vita in 2014 before getting ported on PS4. Featuring 2D levels with a very basic control scheme, the goal is to combine tricks, grinds and perfect landings in order to get as many points as you can. Each level has 5 challenges that once completed, unlock a pro version of the level with a more difficult layout and more advanced challenges. The game is divided into 5 worlds of 5 amateurs + 5 pro levels. Once all 250 challenges are done, you unlock RAD Mode, where you need to get all 50 levels done again but only with perfect grinds and landings. Anything less than perfect and you facepalm to the ground and have to restart the level. There isn't a checkpoint system like in Trials for example. OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood works the same way with 5 worlds of 10 levels each and 250 challenges. But how does it compare to its predecessor? Let's find out! Gameplay Once I finally got to play the game, I instantly fell in love with how simplistic it could be. Like I said, the game controls very easily : you use the left stick to jump and perform tricks. You can pull off dozens of moves by moving the analog in different directions, letting you control everything from how you flip your board to how you grind on a rail. The shoulder buttons add spins to your tricks helping you getting your multiplier up and thus increasing your score. It's a simple system, but one that allows for lots of creativity and flexibility. You land by pressing X as your character is about to hit the ground. If timed correctly, you get a perfect landing with the maximum amount of points for the tricks you've recorded. However, failing to do so will result in a drastically reduced score. There is a scale of landing grades : perfect, sick, ok, and sloppy. Getting a perfect landing will give you momentum and speed for the next jump. Getting a sloppy landing on the other end will leave you staggered for a few seconds which in turn can make you miss the next one. Timing is everything in this game. You can pull off a level-long combo totalling millions of points, but if you don't stick the landing you'll only get a fraction of that amount. Grinding is also as easy as pressing and holding a direction on the left stick when you're about to land a grindable platform. Much like landings, if you press at the right moment, you get a perfect grind and of course, more score and more momentum. From there on out, every level is a mix between jumping, grinding, landing, rinsing and repeating. When you factor in the level design, which often includes non-stop barrages of everything from staircases to forklifts, the game makes it entirely possible to pull off ridiculously lengthy combos, but one small mistake and it's all for naught bringing you back to the beginning of the level. While some levels are set up to be completed in one long run racking up a top score, others will take multiple play-throughs to complete each challenge, such as specific grinds, not using kick at all, or collecting items along the path. OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood takes every good thing from its predecessor but also adds new gameplay aspects to make the game richer and better. The biggest addition is the manuals. In skateboarding, a manual is a trick where the skateboarder shifts his weight to the back or front of the board in order to lift the front or back wheels without having the tail or nose of the board touching the ground. In other words, a manual is the skateboarding version of popping a wheelie on a bike. Here is an example with a picture : This added trick changes everything. In the original OlliOlli, you could only chain your combo as far as the layout of the level allowed you to. So for example to be able to complete a level in one combo, you needed the level to allow you to do so, by having platforms close enough to each other, that way every jump were to help you reach the next one. In OlliOlli2 however, adding the manual allows you to one combo every level even when two platforms are far from each other. Landing a manual allows you to keep your combo running, while you're still moving on your way to the next platform. It also allows the devs more flexibility when designing a level because the manual will be there to help you fill in the gaps. Other added tricks include the revert manual, basically a more evolved manual that gives you more speed than a regular one and the grind switches that allow you to switch your stance while grinding, giving you a boost in terms of points. Just like grinds and landings, manuals are also subject to the landing scale, a perfect manual will give you more speed in order to reach the next platform. The game goes as far as offering levels with multiple routes sometimes, with each one tied to a different challenge. Each levels are short and packed with stair sets, rails, ramps, deadly obstacles, towering robots, hovercars, and toxic slime. On top of that, there is also one new challenge a day called the Daily Grind where you get one shot to nab the highest possible score off of one combo. You're allowed to practice the stage as much as you want beforehand. It can be give a good representation about how you fare compared to other players around the world. As for the music, the pop-electro soundtrack felt really in adequation with the game, perfectly complementing the gameplay. It really makes you feel like you're dancing your way through the levels, following a perfect choreography from start to finish ? Trophies The trophy list is pretty straightforward and aiming to complete all 250 challenges will net you most of the trophies on the way. Once the challenges are done, you unlock RAD Mode where you need to play through all 50 levels again, completing them while doing only perfect tricks, grinds and landings. Anything shorter than perfect and you will bail and have to restart the level. There is also a trophy where you need to compete in the daily grind 7 times and set a score on all spots but there isn't any points requirements whatsoever. All the other trophies will come along the way, such as achieving 1,000 perfect grinds, 500 perfect manuals or 100 perfect landings. Here is my video of the last level where you need to pull a 135x combo with a perfect landing at end : Enjoyment and challenge Let's put the record straight : OlliOlli2 is the best game I have played on this account and one of my favorite video games of all time already. It improves just about everything the first one introduced. The skating is pure, the visual approach is much more smoother, almost looking like a cartoon. Each of the five locations is wonderfully designed, taking you through to the film sets of Olliwood, the Aztec ruins, the wild west, a creepy amusement park, and a futuristic cityscape. It can take a few minutes to adjust to the palettes and iconography of each new setting, but overall the visual design is a triumph. The pace is faster and it's also a harder game overall. The points totals in the sequel are much higher too which in retrospect makes OlliOlli feeling like a tutorial for the second opus Another thing OlliOlli2 does greatly is that the learning curve feels very balanced and well measured. The game gives you plenty of time to get a feel for the systems, get your footing up on point and get your eye used to the timing. By the time it starts throwing steeper challenges at you, you will be ready for them because you have been well prepared. And that's where lies the strength of the game, while the learning curve seemingly goes forever, its pacing is expertly judged. The challenges are well mixed while also addressing every aspect of the gameplay, from combo and high-score to nailing specific tricks or collecting hard-to-reach items, they are a great teaching tool in their own right. I felt like the challenges were the harder part towards the platinum. Once I nailed my last challenge, I basically breezed through RAD Mode, completing all 50 levels in just a few hours without much hurdle along the way. Here is my video of the last level I needed to get done to get a bit of an idea : On top of that, the game is a blast. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a game that much to be honest haha. Even challenges that I attempted more than 50 times didn’t leave me too frustrated, I was even surprising myself laughing at my own mistakes sometimes ? The restarts are instantaneous, the controls are responsive and the level designs finely honed that I was enjoying myself keeping up with it. The stages are also luckily short enough that starting over isn't really a pain. I played the original OlliOlli before moving on to OlliOlli2 and I can't stress this enough. For anyone looking to play these games, I highly suggest you play the first one before playing OlliOlli2 and not the other way around. The first OlliOlli was a fresh entry in the skateboarding genre, showing how great skating in 2D could be, but OlliOlli2 is truly a masterpiece. It takes every good thing introduced in the first game and makes them ten times better. I personally loved the second opus even more because of the evolution it brought compared to the first one, it wasn't just a copy paste game with different locations and layouts, it was better from the roots all the way to the furthest leaves ? And in my opinion that's the best thing about all this. OlliOlli is a game where the developers could've arguably delivered more of the same and still kept their fan base happy, but instead, they've gone way past that minimal effort and stepped it up in every area. Colorful, retro-inspired, energetic music, and realistic-looking tricks, OlliOlli and OlliOlli2 washed over me like a soft breeze on a hot city day. The game combines technique, creativity, and precision without coming off as overwhelming. Masterpiece in the making, OlliOlli2 lands most of its tricks without never falling to its knees. PS: I started my post by saying that I started playing both OlliOlli because I wanted to take a break from my NHL journey to pop a milestone for my 500th trophy. Well I'm glad to report that the mission has been accomplished : Now that the fun is over, back to the boring grind of the hockey games before the servers closure. Fun times ahead (or not ?). Hello my friend, glad you're stopping by haha. You're officially my first comment since January 4th ? I'm really excited to see you taking on both games and reading your thoughts on them haha. I'm not gonna lie, I was inspired by you (again ?) to add videos into my reviews. It's something I would like to keep doing for my upcoming reviews, especially for games that I enjoy. I was wondering what determines the video quality tho. When I look at your videos, they are all 1080p while mine are 720. Is it because you get your recordings from a PS5 while mine are from a PS4? Haha I agree, I've had to do a lot of grindy games back to back to back because of all the upcoming shutdowns that were announced, I can't wait to be finally done and play more freely ? Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress too all while tackling your next few milestones. Let's keep in touch my friend ?

Lovely review man. Genuinely appreciate how you not only included pictures but also videos to help me visualize what you were talking about with some of the challenges. The OlliOlli games are always ones I've wholeheartedly avoided solely due to their difficult(or suggested difficulty given the <1% on the 2nd game, <2% on the original). But you may have just piqued my interest. I absolutely love games with repetitive cycles that you master by getting a little bit better each time. The fact you said restarts are extremely quick and controls are responsive is very appealing. Also glad that you mentioned recommending trying out the first game before going for the second to see if the genre is for you. I'd be curious to see how you feel about OlliOlli World given it was released this year and has a PS5 list! For whatever reason, I also feel like recommending you "The VideoKid". Super short 100% but I think if you enjoyed OllOlli, it'll be up your alley.
