I haven't played any of the GOTY nominees (yet) so I can't really comment on that. But the best RPG nominees was a bit surprising to me. I have heard that Cyberpunk has gotten updates over the past year and is at the least more playable than it was back then, but to me, there were a couple RPGs I thought deserved it more. That being NieR Replicant and Voice of Cards, both were such solid games.

I know NieR is a remaster but I still think it deserves it more than what Cyberpunk was.

If it's anything like previous years then I'm sure there'll be tons of moaning and crying and paragraph upon paragraph of explanations as to why the Awards are meaningless.

Since I won't be joining in on any further discourse around them because I only have so much more faith left in the community, I'll leave y'all with this: TLoU II wasn't my GotY last year but it deserved to win anyway just as much as any of the other nominees did and no amount of manbaby crying can change that, same as when the game you don't want wins yet again this year and you throw your sixth consecutive hissy fit about the awards you claim to care nothing about ?

My GotY this year is Metroid Dread.

Personally I couldn't care less about Content Creator, Esports Team, Esports Player, Esports Coach, Esports event and stuff like that...

As for GOTY - for me it's Kena.

From the available - probably RE8, huge RE fan but wouldn't put RE8 even in my top 5 RE games of all times.

It takes two was a surprisingly fun game apart from one scene that traumatized me forever. Ratchet was cool as well. Haven't played the remaining ones.

At least I hope for Kena to win best Indie, best Indie debut and best art direction.

I wasn't expecting very much but I was pleasantly surprised to see Alan Wake II and Space Marine II since they were both games that were uncertain to get a sequel. In Space Marine's case it seemed practically impossible because of THQ shutting down but I'm glad they are doing that after all this time.

Otherwise the stuff like Slitterhead seemed cool but I didn't really feel anything regarding the Quantic Dream Star Wars game or most the other stuff. That one game with the robots and the soldiers seemed interesting (I forget the name already, Arcade something I think) but I get the feeling it will just be a live-service game.

I wasn't planning to but ever since I heard about Take-Two Interactive being dickheads with lawsuits against Fares over the title, I am going to buy It Takes Two. Them winning GOTY is added shade and lends better credibility to the game's integrity and identity.

I actually enjoyed this years more than last years. Even though this one seriously was dragged out. I’m all happy that It Takes Two won even though Kena is definitely my GOTY. Also glad Kena won best debut indie. The announcements was a little lack luster, but I did get my Elden Ring trailer so everything that I wanted to happen did occur.

Least it wasn’t another full blow out like last year with TLOU 2 taking everything. Thought it was going to repeat with Deathloop. Pretty even distribution.

Good:

Some of the announcement such as Arc Riders ?, SW eclipse, a bit of gameplay for Requiem, Josef and it takes 2 getting the W and a few other trailers.

Bad:

Dragged on for too much and it was mostly pre alphas, GAAS/ mobile and politics.

5-6/10, they should start the show 1-2 hours earlier, trim down on the stuff we don't care about and get rid of the BS.

It takes two was great an all but no way would I put it above deathloop, returnal, rift apart or even resident evil 8 to be honest.

I think deathloop should of gotten it, don't know why it doesn't seem to be getting much love but the fact that it's a great game and an original concept executed well puts it above the others for me.

I haven’t played It Takes Two, so I can’t have an opinion on that game winning GOTY, but Psychonauts 2 getting robbed of at least Best Narrative and/or Best Art Direction has me a little livid.

That game is amazing and hinges on the fact that the levels are designed around the thoughts inside of the mind; it’s all about the art direction. You can tell the creative team put thought into everything. Very disappointing that Double Fine didn’t get a single award.
