Popular Post whodeygamer
#20: Shenmue II I finally decided to give this game a try. A few months ago, I completed Shenmue 1 and had mixed feelings about it. After playing 2, I still have mixed feelings about the series, but I have a bitter taste in my mouth now thanks to the awful command QTE’s. I already don’t like QTE’s to begin with, but the command ones are a whole new level of awful. I have no interest in returning to Shenmue now, I’m done with it. This franchise is not for me. I guess my 20th platinum milestone is a representation of how not everyone is going to like every game they play, even a game such as this that’s beloved by most people who played it. Popular Post Biertje373
Platinum #38 Ladders By POWGI You Rung, M'Lord?Collect all the trophies Dificulty 0.5/10 Fun 7.5/10 Normally I'd add the positives and negatives to the game, but this game is quite different, so I'll just make it a little story. Back when i was in school I used to do a lot of puzzles, sudoku's word search and others but when I left school I kinda quit doing them, I did some in between but I wasn't as obsessed with them. Now a couple of months ago I found out that there's a company making these kind of games, I've bought word search and ladder and I am planning to buy a few more. This is my first POWGI game to platinum and I had a good time with it, I am kinda bad at ladders, but they're still fun. I do hope that they'll also make some number puzzle games, because they're really chill. My favourite thing about this game is the humor, some of the trophy requirements were kind of funny and some of these names give me a chuckle. My one dislike with the games is the music, but I just mute it. And as I've done before, here's my platinum screenshot (Yes, I had to make that word for one of the trophies):
Popular Post Conor
#110- FINAL FANTASY X HD [PS4] Completion Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Time: 2 Weeks, 19 Hours, 18 Miuntes / 150 Hours Rarity: 2.2% Ultra Rare (PSN) / 8.73% Very Rare (PSNProfiles) Challenge: Perfect Sphere Master- Complete the Sphere Grids for all main characters "Listen to my story... this may be our last chance..." Square's Final Fantasy series may be the most iconic JRPG series of all time and the roll they were on after the PlayStation One trilogy continued into the PS2 era. Final Fantasy X would be a departure from previous titles in many ways but to this day remains one of the most beloved entries in the series and is also probably the most accessible, being playable on all major platforms today, an easy to follow storyline and an intuitive and engaging combat system that is easy to learn and find a rhythm to carry you through to the end of the story. It introduced voice acting to the series and overhauled the battle system from the long running Active Time Battle into something new. Even though it was released in 2001, I think this game holds up very well even today. Sure, the HD remaster helps in this a great deal but there is plenty here at its core that keeps the game from feeling all that dated. The story is emotional, engaging and easy to follow with likable characters and a decent pacing which is something that many games in the series don't really pull off as well as this. Playing as Tidus, you go on a journey to save the world of Spira from the evil force known as "Sin", with some twists along the way that flip the narrative on its head but in a very digestible way. The combat is back to turn-based after several entries using the ATB system, but with a twist. This "Conditional Turn-Based Battle" system, or CTB, leaves the player all the time they want to make decisions on each of their turns while knowing how their actions will affect when they can act again as well as see when and which enemies will get their turns at fighting. This is highly tactical and also allows you to swap out characters on the fly. You select your moves and they are carried out immediately, leading to far faster and fluid battles than previous entries which feel very sluggish now without the use of speed boosts; this game requires none (though they are available on PC versions). The levelling system is also pretty unique; the Sphere Grid allows you to send your characters along certain paths at the beginning to fulfill certain roles- Tidus is the agile fighter, Wakka is pinpoint accurate, Lulu is the Black Mage, Yuna the White Mage and Summoner, Auron the Warrior, Rikku the Thief and Kimahri... the Blue Mage, I guess, but the enemy skills are limited and used only as part of his Overdrive (Limit Break), like Quistis in Final Fantasy VIII. Unfortunately, Kimahri is kind of useless when you use the Standard Sphere Grid, but using the Expert Sphere Grid is another matter entirely. Available first on PAL and International versions of the original game, the Expert Sphere Grid basically allows you to mold your characters into whatever you want them to be and also has the potential to allow you to unlock certain abilities early that were otherwise closed off to you on the Standard system. I sent my characters on wildly different paths this time around mostly and it was a very interesting experience. The characters are likable and well-realised, though it is pretty obvious that this was the first foray into voice acting. All of the main actors do a good job though the direction is a bit weird at points; Yuna speaks in a very stilted way as if the actress was trying to get a dead-on match with the mouth sync even though nobody else is doing this. There are also many complaints about Tidus' voice as well but honestly I don't think it is that bad and James Arnold Taylor is actually a very good and prolific voice actor. Even that laughing scene is only as awful as it is made out to be when taken out of context. Others have explained it far better than I could so I'll just leave it at that. The soundtrack is just fantastic and for the most part I kept the original tracks through the game as I feel only a select few of the new arranged tracks are better. I have played this game about ten times through but I always try to play it in different ways. I did a lot of early grinding and spent may sleepless nights due to my insomnia just grinding the heck out of Besaid Island, Kilika, Mi'ihen Highroad and Mushroom Rock before getting sick of it and just charging through the mid-section of the game. Sure, I was super over-powered by the time I was in Macalania and helped me breeze through certain bosses that gave me great difficulty in earlier playthroughs, but it was draining. The endgame grind took me forever and I spent a lot of time just idling. The mingames are plentiful but stressful- those Chocobo games in the Calm Lands will never be done again and the Lightning Dodging can eat me, though I nailed it on my second try this time after failing my first attempt after 52 strikes. The Monster Arena is also a grindfest as it is where you earn your spheres for getting your characters super powerful, but in the end I just killed all the superbosses with Yojimbo's Zanmato. Very handy, that. Overall, Final Fantasy X is a stellar game from a transitional period in gaming as well as in the series itself. Many call this the last truly great game but I beg to differ. I'll get around to the rest of the series in due course but for now I think it is time for some shirter, easier games to cleanse the palatte. Popular Post iFraaN97
# 299 - Gravity Rush Remastered Enjoyment : 8 / 10Difficulty: 3 / 10 I played the original on PS Vita back in the day, it was always one of my favorites. Pretty cool remastered version, although I turned off the motion controls first thing. The 60 fps are so appreciated in a game like this, I found it easier overall than the original version, I don't think I had to restart a single challenge mission more than once. I didn't have the chance to try the DLCs before but I didn't miss too much, the missions were pretty underwhelming but the new outfits and a few extra challenges are always nice.
Popular Post PhantomWarcry
# 166 - Hades Enjoyed: 7/10 Difficulty: 3.5/10 Even got into the top 50 first achievers (only other game I got that for is Persona 5 vanilla I believe, granted both games had been out in some capacity before being released on PS4/in NA respectively). As I see there's only 45 platinums got so there's still some room for others. Pretty easy to platinum (God Mode is a bit misnamed, all it does is give you increasing damage resistance for each death) but a fair bit of RNG because you can only converse with each NPC once a run to progress a quest and they may or may not be there, or may not even talk about the subject you need them to. My last trophy involved collecting summons, and my last one came from a pair of NPCs that show up in the hub area and third area respectively and to progress the quest you need to go back and forth between them, when they might not even show up so that was a pain. I actually didn't care too much for the game at the start, since you'll be dying a lot without making much progress. However that does add up in allowing you to reset areas to progress NPCs and buy upgrades. I really enjoyed the mid point when you start clearing the game effortlessly, but the endgame where you're just doing the same runs looking for one specific NPC or boon got annoying. Increasing difficulty via various modifiers in order to farm drops helped a lot in the replayability, since each boss only drops their item once for each difficulty level. I feel like it could use some more content, although I wouldn't want something like a fifth area because that would just make the runs longer. Perhaps an alternate route going from Olympus to Hades, or from Hades further down. Weapon variety is decent but it seems to boil down to dodge strike with melee, snipe with ranged, use your specials and resources whenever you can, so the combat gets a little mindless. There's plenty of voiced dialogue and story content, but at a certain point I stopped caring about that because I just wanted to be done. The story of constantly going back to Hades does work really well with the roguelike structure, and the treatment of death and combat as an annoyance was amusing. Compared to other roguelites (if that term is objectionable I think RNG dungeons conveys the basic idea of the genre well enough), I'd say it kind of hits the Binding of Isaac magic of each upgrade having the potential to completely change your playstyle. However you seemingly can't get more than one upgrade for each attack or move (you can get deflect or AOE for your dash, you can't get both) so the synergies that I love from BoI aren't really there. The game gets rolling a lot quicker than Gungeon, but doesn't stay as interesting or entertaining as long as that game does. I thought that might have been a fault of using God Mode, so I tried turning it off, but it actually doesn't affect the game that much beyond the bosses who are really hard to evade and feel much more punishing. A suicide button would have been much appreciated, since there's no way to abandon your run and start over without losing all the progress on various quests or tasks that you accomplished in your run. When you're working on the final trophies you'll be getting to your desired point then standing around waiting to die with all your various upgrades slowing that process down because there's no point in going to the end when the hub world will reset upon your death anyway and all you'll get is a weapon upgrade token you probably won't need, and some one liners for the ending. Overall I enjoyed it but I wouldn't give it GOTY. Overhype may have ruined the impact once again. It's a fun and interesting story heavy roguelite, that's about it.
Popular Post MissShake
#67: Arcade Spirits Arcade Legend Collect all the trophies. I'm back on my bullshit, guys. Here with another otome/visual novel plat! (Well since you can date girls in this too I'm pretty sure otome isn't exactly the right term, but let's just roll with it for simplicity's sake.) I've had this in my backlog for a year or so, and I'm running behind on the Gaming By Numbers event, so I went ahead and changed directions from my original planned platformers and such for the Summer Backlog challenge, which I've resigned myself to not being able to finish up. (There's always next time, right?) On to the game, though! If you've seen my plat posts you probably know that I go out of my way to actually read VNs when I play them, including dating games. For this game I did skip the last ending where you don't end up with anyone though, since it's basically the same as when you end up with someone and by that point I was ready to move on. That's not a knock against the game, though! This was a feel good story which advertises that the power of friendship (and love, if you want) can overcome all sorts of adversity in this world. I know, I know. Cheesy. But I feel like every once in a while we all need something a bit lighter. The cast itself is great too, I found every one of the datable options to be likable in their own way. (My faves were Teo and QueenBee.) However, there was a couple of aspects that made me um... Cringe, for a lack of a better word. The MC has a habit of saying "wat" instead of, ya know, "what", and after a while I was just like "yes writers I get it, like how people type online, lul you're so funee, now please stop." This coupled with a lot of references could get grating after a while. Like I get that it's set in the arcade scene so references are sort of an important part of the culture, but after the 80th name drop with a big fat trademark next to it I was getting tired. Minor gripes aside, I had a lot of fun with this one. It's like having a McDonald's burger. It's not always gonna hit the spot, but when it does hit... Man does it hit.
Popular Post Deluziion90
#441 - Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 + 15.000 Trophy Milestone LegendUnlock all trophies From status update: Fun 8/10 Difficulty 4/10 A mix of fun even though I rated it an 8. There's only 5 levels and the fun is definitely found in the huge maps where you have to snipe targets from 1000 to 2000 meters away which is some crazy distances. There's also some more close combat maps where stealth is very important but that's the minus from this game. Overall a very fun but short game which makes it a bit of a bad price.. €39,99 for only 2-3 days of content to clear.

Popular Post black__bunny
#46 Yakuza 3 (ps3) 3.14% My first Yakuza game which did not disappoint at all. It was hard choosing a starting point but after reading many threads, I decided to start off where the series was introduced on the Ps3. The main story was interesting to play through and there are so many things to do in game which kept me entertained in between continuing with the main story. While the mini games are fun, I can completely understand why that turns a lot of people off the platinum and tbh, I thought I wouldn't be able to build the skill to pass them. I found the batting, pool and karaoke to be quite challenging and made me put the game aside for a while as it became less and less enjoyable. Coming back to it later made all the difference and somehow I managed to get through them all to add this ultra rare plat to my collection. I have heard this is one of the grindiest & challenging in the series for mini games so I'm happy I played this first instead of towards the end. Popular Post TheArcadeKid
#229 - Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (PS3) The most well-produced Saturday morning cartoon? I've played this game five times now: first on PS2 (and couldn't get to the end due to a faulty disc), then on Vita, then on PS3, then again on Vita to get the plat, and now once more on PS3. And each time, the game never loses its charm. Top marks for character designs and voice-overs, and the worlds themselves are terrific riffs on cities and settings around the world. The variety of gameplay is stunning and, for the most part, incredibly polished. It's a shame that the game is also pretty shallow. Very few sections of the game are difficult, and it's very easy to get to the end without toying with the dozens of available upgrades. Having played this game so many times already, I treated my most recent playthrough as a kind of speedrun, which was an interesting new way to play. But on the whole, this game is just a bit too easy for its own good. I was reminded of the set pieces of the Uncharted series - lavishly produced, but ultimately very simple. This platinum took me a ridiculous 6 years and 7 months to achieve. I never bothered with the plat the first time I played it - the challenges put me off, although none of them are actually very difficult - and it's only because of an incredibly cheap PS Now deal that I revisited it. The first third zipped past, with the rest of the game being a little tedious. Still, it's nice to spend a bit more time with these characters.

Popular Post Carol
#220 Moving Out Master Mover Unlock all of the Trophies I am enjoying a month of PS Now subscription for just 1€, not because I don't have other games to play, but because this deal was too irresistible. I decided to start with this game "Moving Out", because it seemed so fun and it, indeed, didn't disappoint. It's incredibly entertaining and the time flew by every time I played it. Who would say that such a simple concept would make such a fun game?! The idea behind this game is, definitely, well implemented, so this game is a joy to play and a nice change of pace, considering I usually play more "serious" games. I liked it so much that I am even thinking about buying the DLC for this game that I don't even own! It feels kind of sad that my journey with this game ended with the platinum. Trophy-wise, this is also an easy platinum and it's basically about completing everything the game has to offer you; some side-objectives can be a bit annoying, but nothing that you can't achieve in a few tries. I definitely recommend this game, if you like a fun, lighthearted and relaxing experience!

Popular Post greenzsaber
#351 - Furi Pretty fun game that I should've played a lot sooner. Not really too difficult once you get the hang of your moveset and the boss patterns/phases. My only gripe is the lack of a run button when traveling to the next boss, but it makes for a nice break session, I guess. Popular Post MissShake
#68: When The Past Was Around Finale Complete all trophies Full disclosure: my main reason for getting this plat was because of how pretty the art is on the trophies. It helps that this game fills out one of my needed numbers for the Gaming By Numbers event, but I honestly had this one in mind even before that event. This is a very pretty little point and click, and as is tradition for the genre it's an easy plat if you use a walkthrough. The art really is quite pretty, and the story definitely made me feel. You can pretty much guess what the story's about just by looking at the title, but it's in the presentation that makes this one worth a look.

Popular Post Boomshanks
( 66) ASSASSINS CREED UNITY MASTER ASSASSIN Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 4/10 The definite upside to playing games years after they release is that by the time you play them, most of the bugs and glitches have been ironed out. Assassins Creed Unity is probably the game in the series best known for it’s incredibly buggy launch. Seven years later the state of the game is a lot better. There are still bugs, but then again, would it really be Assassins Creed Unity without them . After the incredible Black Flag I was debating whether I should play Unity and Syndicate or just jump straight into Origins. In the end I chose the former and I’m glad that I did. In my opinion, Unity is a good game. Paris during the French Revolution looks absolutely incredible and may be one of my favorite settings in the game series so far. It has so many beautiful and distinct buildings and being able to climb and enter the Notre Dame is just magnifique ?*chef’s kiss. The parkour is greatly improved with the new descend button (which was long, long overdue) and in this game you are finally able to enter most buildings… whaat. I didn’t know this going in and it was a great and welcome addition especially with the beautiful interiors of the buildings. The assassination missions are a highlight of the game. They use these incredible landmarks to their advantage and completely let you choose your own approach to assassinate the target. I do really miss the talks in the void after killing your target though. It´s replaced by a new mystery element that completely fell flat for me. The story and characters are a massive step down from the previous game. Black Flag was much more lighthearted and fun and this is just meh… I didn´t care about any of the characters and found Elise to be a drag mostly. I get that Arno wants to bang her, but seriously just let her go and find a different redhead ?. There aren´t really any memorable side characters either. Thankfully, the missions are good. As with Black Flag, there are less missions but they are much more interesting than in the previous titles. In fact, I was really enjoying my time with the game and didn´t understand what all the hate was about… until I wanted to go for the platinum. My God what a terrible grind. Unity just doesn´t know when to stop. There is so much stuff to collect here and it adds no value to the game. You can barely go around a corner without tripping over a new chest, they are everywhere. And there are so many side missions that are just not that interesting. This is definitely a case of quantity over quality. If they had cut out half of the side missions and collectibles the game would have been better for it and they would have had more time to polish it before its buggy launch. There are these small missions in which you have to kill a target but you can just run up to them and cut them down in the middle of the street and complete it within 30 seconds. Why are these things in the game. With the murder mysteries I ended up just accusing everyone I could find since the only penalty was a smaller payout. The more I played it, the more I became burnt out with the game until finally I had to stop ⚰️. This is one of those grinds that broke me. I started noticing all of the things wrong with the game like how the immersion is completely shattered when the ragdoll physics kick in upon death and enemies just sort of fold into themselves like Autobots. I became annoyed at every fight I had to do because it would take more time and I hated every restart because I just wanted it to be over with . Finally I took a break and when I came back to it later and the collecting was mostly done I started enjoying myself again. The co-op missions are great, though I didn’t have anyone to play with and I had no problem going through them multiple times. The full synchronization was also more fun than I had anticipated beforehand. Thankfully, because of this I could complete the game on a positive note. I rarely say this, but if this game had been shorter I would have enjoyed it a lot more. All in all though, with the massive grind done I still think it’s a good game with an incredible setting and I’m glad I played it. Syndicate is next, but first I need a break from the Assassins Creed franchise.
