Popular Post Intoner_Zero
Plat #163- Remothered: Broken Porcelain I loved Tormented Fathers and was kinda excited to see this sequel come out, but due to overwhelming reports on how buggy and broken (lulz) this game was, I put off getting it until I read that patches had come through and decided to get it on one of the October sales. It's pretty playable and I really only experienced annoying stuff on my 3rd playthrough with a few collectables disappearing, being stuck opening a door until an enemy hit me free, and the game crashing twice. I swear I had collected all the stuff I needed in 2nd playthrough, but the trophy didn't pop until I went through it a 3rd time collecting a missing person milkbox. While it was nice to have the story of the missing Celeste Felton and Rosemary Reed all wrapped up, I couldn't help feeling Broken Porcelain's storytelling lacked a certain finesse and elegance that I gathered from Tormented Fathers. BP's most main character, Jennifer, also lowered the horror survival aspect when you level up her skills. There's a reason why she has those abilities, I get it, but it takes away that survival impact compared to the first game. And toward the endgame she slips in importance as the focus, with that being passed to a secondary character- Linn. So, this was just okay to me. Trophies aren't bad overall, about 2 of them will be a pain in the ass (Son of a B*tch and Bloodbath). Bloodbath's required number is too excessive, should've dropped to the 30's or something, but data is cumulative when you reload to reuse weapons and stuff. The other trophy will make you rage, maybe lol.
Popular Post Starrk_01
Plat #200!!!!!!!!!!!!! Persona 5 (PS4) Been wanting to get this platinum for a long time and also wanted to save it for my #175 platinum originally, but at that time I felt the journey I had with Yakuza 5 made that more of a priority. I really enjoyed this game for being the only Persona game I have played (besides Arena Ultimax, but clearly not the same type of game). This was also a goal for myself for 2021 (actually two goals: get 200 plats and plat Persona 5), so I'm happy that those goals are accomplished. Now time to try to raise my completion % to 87.5% before the end of the year to accomplish all of my 2021 goals. Speaking of which... Plat #201: Super Blood Hockey Could have had this done earlier but I really wanted Persona 5 as my 200th platinum. I also wanted to get this in before the deadline for @Beyondthegrave07 Fight Against Cancer Event ended, and was able to squeak it out with about 1.5 hours to spare. Fun game once you get the hang of how to score, and funny story for the franchise mode (in a dark way). Popular Post yellowwindow7
Ethan Winter / Resident Evil Village ( ps4 ) hello follow trophy hunters, how things? ☺ it's been long since last time I posted here for a new platinum, and sorry for the no platinum trophy image, the laptop i usually use for posting stuff have died on me and now I'm using this lousy tablet of mine to post this which I don't know how to do copy and paste on tablets. anyway here's my Resident Evil Village platinum, finally done with this nonsense of a platinum, I have to stop anything i was working on on my ps4 just to finish the freaking mercenaries mode. I had zero problems beating the game on Village of Shadow difficulty since I grinded some money to buy the best weapon in the game and then some to buy the unlimited ammo mod for it, the only difficult part was when finishing Chris segment at the end of the game. what really frustrated me was the mercenaries mode, some idiot in the developers decided that you must get an S rank on all levels and made a trophy for it, the mercenaries mode in RE Village is among the worst, some enemies won't respawn unless you clear a room off enemies and when they respawn they appear far away from you off camera, resulting you continue forward to the goal missing them out. i'm one of the folks that don't like the mercenaries mode in RE series, suck at them and always pass on this mode, and now to get this platinum then I have to force myself in playing something I do not like and boy what a pain.. thanks to the youtubers Whitelocks and Abyx Gaming for their playthroughs and guides as I had to watch their videos multiple of times to learn a few tricks before attempting my own way. this game is really fun to play ( i'm talking about the story mode ) but man it's disappointing at the same time, I learned it was nominated for GOTY, the game's fine but personally I don't think it's a GOTY material, the game awards is a joke show now days anyway. I got this game as a present from a friend as I don't usually pay with my hard earned money to buy games like this, especially the moment it was out.

Popular Post slender_adrian
#80 Difficulty: 6/10 Enjoyment: 6/10 Rarity: 1.79 Ultra Rare Time: 27 Hours (approx.) "Did I pass?" Ninja Gaiden greatest spin-off, well not so greatest. I'll be honest, I didn't knew this game was a thing to begin with until a couple of years ago, I lost track of the NG games after the 3rd entry mainly because I really hated that game back then (and I still do), but I decided to give this game a try, of course I wasn't hoping for anything special neither a "Ninja Gaiden experience" other than it's difficulty (cheapness in other words haha). First of all, I don't think this is a bad game, is more of a mediocre game, it has a lot of technical errors, a lot of frame drops (this can be a pain in gameplay), in fact this game crashed my PS3 on the first mission on my first playthrough haha, thankfully this only happened once, extremely long loading screens, and a lot of bugs, all of this in a game that you can easily beat in less than 3 hours. Despite this, the art style is awesome, is something I really like about this game, the combat is pretty good for the game that is, awesome animations and basically that's it. The story is there I guess nothing worth mentioning, the characters are very lame, for me Yaiba is not appealing at all, 0 carisma on a game that's supposedly has a lot of humor and funny moments, and talking about humor, jokes in this game are just not funny. Despite this, I had fun playing it, and I really enjoyed my time with this game. Now for the good part, trophies. Most of the trophies were a breeze, a lot of story related trophies, collectibles, some misc trophies that aren't that difficult to get, and some difficulty related trophies, like I said, most of the trophies are really easy to get, on my normal playthrough I got +30 trophies without even going for them. I had a kinda major glitch with the collectibles, especially with the story related ones ( Too Many Words), suddenly one disappear but I did noticed this before going to higher difficulties, so I could start a new game without losing important progress, regardless of that everything else went nice. As for the difficulty related trophies there are 5 difficulty levels, easy, normal, hard, nightmare, and hell, and you get trophies for these last 3 ( Izuna Drop the Mic, Ninjacked, Hell or High Slaughter). Hell difficulty is the highest difficulty in the game, here you'll die in one hit, it took me 8 hours to beat it and most of the levels went down pretty good, except for the last one, the last boss fight took me 3 hours to beat it and 30 attempts, for me that was the only part where I truly suffered in this difficulty. And finally there's Arcade Mode, this is a very challenging minigame, it consists of 4 stages, if you ran out of lives you must do the whole thing again and that can easily happen here. I got it on my second attempt and I really liked this mode despite being a pain. Don't get me wrong, this game is hard and this plat is not a walk in the park it requires a lot of skill and patience, there's one thing this game does right, and that's pulling an awesome challenge!
Popular Post MrGarland
Platinums #124 (PS3) and #125 (PS Vita) Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 I have a confession to make. I've never heard, seen or played this game before when it first came out. To say the least, I was interested in other games at the time and that's why it never got my attention, although the sequel did one way or another. I also didn't play the HD version when they released it, so I sadly missed all the hype around it. Before I focus on the games I have in my backlog, I've decided to take a trip to the past and experience what I've missed as a kid. Since I've already done that to the Jak and Daxter series (excluding The Lost Frontier), I think it's finally time for me to play this. Same can be said about a certain other series (starts with an R), but that's a story for another time. Anyway, playing this after almost 20 years since it was first released, how much did I enjoy it? To put it shortly, it was fun. Although the sequel is much better, this was still a good experience. The most enjoyable part was the game's boss battles which are unique (at least some of them). My favorite battle was against the Panda King. While it proved itself to be enjoyable, it's not without flaws. The main thing that bothers me is that you can't skip dialogues or cutscenes. While it's only a minor complaint, it becomes bothersome whenever you get a game over during a boss battle and that means you have to watch them again. I also had some trouble with the sections where you have to press the button to climb on vines, pipes and anything like that, but sometimes (albeit rarely) it didn't work. I also did the Vita version as a bonus. Before I go any further, a few things I should mention. Whenever the game has two different trophy lists (one for Vita and one for the other), I usually want to see if I can clear it faster using all my knowledge I have. Second, it's been a while since I last used it, so I decided to sweep the dust from it and give it a go. Obviously, I'm going to do the same for the sequels. It might be a waste of time, but what the hell. Gotta use that for something, wouldn't you say? In my case, it's RPGs and platformers. As for the handheld version, it's pretty much the same game, but something I experienced at least twice was the lag. The part at the beginning was the most noticeable one where it lagged a bit. Not only that, but the game crashed once at some point. The PS3 version played without any issues, so I have no idea why it did that. And there you have it. Though it has its flaws, this was fun to experience, regardless. Obviously, the sequel's going to be the next project. At the moment of posting this, I've started playing it. All I can say about it for now, this is more like it. I've only played for a while, but I can say this is a big improvement from the first one. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy this. Besides, there's something I'm looking forward to seeing in that game. Something that I remember seeing as a kid. PS. For those who are still waiting for me to make that Resogun thread I promised, don't worry. I haven't forgotten that. I'd say I'm more than halfway with it. I'm also going to do a couple of test runs before I'll publish it. Please try to stay patient for a little longer.
Popular Post starcrunch061
Plat #460: Ghost of Tsushima Living Legend Obtain all trophies. I could go on about this game for pages, but I fear that I would descend into ranting about idiot game "reviewers", so I'll keep it relatively short and sweet. Ghost of Tsushima is easily in my top 5 games of the PS4 generation. I'll have to review my notes, but it might take the top spot over the likes of Witcher 3, Bloodborne and Persona 5/P5R. It is that remarkable game that possesses cinematic quality, yet still yields great gameplay. Let's begin with those cinematics. GoT is the most beautiful game I've played this generation...and I played the whole thing in black and white! Kurosawa mode is fantastic, and they really did their homework, setting up their contrasts well (most black-and-white outings today seem just to take a color movie, and then turn off the color). The fields of flowers look great, the storms darken the sky wonderfully, the sea looks great. Aesthetically, this is the best I've seen from any video game ever. EVER. If there's one negative to this "Kurosawa mode", it's that the vanity items (a myriad options for dress, including armor, helmets/headbands, and face shields/face masks) don't really look different from one another. There are still options, though, to create more contrast (the white dye and black dye merchants actually work better in black and white than in color!). I went full-on Kurosawa here, with Japanese voicework. Happily, the annoying high squeals that too often infiltrate Japanese games are gone. People in this game look and sound like adults. Speaking of, this is also the best I've seen a game depict the age of characters. Older characters generally look older, as opposed to having some filter which adds wrinkles to them. Much could be learned by other devs. But I don't play games for cinematics. Thankfully, GoT delivers the goods here as well. Perhaps a better title would be "Japanese Batman...that kills!". Our intrepid hero (Jin Sakai) has at his disposal a number of killing tools, and even a bat hook! Pretty heady fare for the late 1200s. There are numerous ways to dispatch the hordes of Mongols in Japan, and none of them feel extraneous. Rushing enemies has its place, sitting back and killing them with arrows or poison works at times, assassinating them up close does wonders, and sometimes, you just want to get around them without killing anyone, which allows you to use a couple of distraction tools (wind chimes and firecrackers). All in all, it's a smorgasbord of options, all of which are useful. Difficulty options are present (I highly, HIGHLY recommend playing on a higher difficulty), so you're never really locked down. The game has a pretty standard open-world formula. It's not my favorite way to game, but it works well enough. You have your main story missions, as well as side character missions, random side missions, and standard open-world "liberate this town/fortress" stuff. It's not so unlike AC:Origins in that regard, though I find this open world more engaging (which it should be, since Origins came out years ago). Still, when you've done your 34th of 49 Fox Den, you might start to weary of the whole enterprise...but you'll do it, because powering up those charms is worth your time. Writing your 13th haiku, on the other hand... As far as weaknesses go, outside of the repetitiveness of some open world tasks, I found the pure stealth missions to be annoying for the most part. On the one hand, it's refreshing to have a game that doesn't completely hold your hand (while map markers will lead you to tasks, it's usually up to you to finish that task as you see fit). On the other hand, it's incredibly annoying to draw attention from an unseen assailant, because you went up the wrong rock face. One particularly annoying one was late in the game, where you poison the food supply of the Mongols. I wanted to throw my controller at one point. Control is generally great, but combat can be exasperating, because there is no lock-on mechanic for enemies. While I don't mind the deletion of map markers, I find it odd that lock-ons are considered too hand-holdy. In real life, I could lock on pretty easily, and even if I couldn't, I wouldn't randomly move at an oblique angle from a charging enemy. But despite these issues, I love this game. GoT doesn't add anything new to the open-world genre. It just does it so much better than anyone else. Add to that a complex story about a samurai questioning his code in the face of true outside danger, and you have a winner. Happy gaming! Popular Post Mariner1534
#68: Control (PS5) - Director of the FBC I wanted to knock off a game in my "free PS Plus games" backlog, and this was near the top of the list - it was given out early this year and it always looked really cool to me, but I held off until I got a PS5 for the sake of better performance (I heard it was really dodgy on base PS4). So, after finally experiencing Control for myself, I thought it was... decent. Not quite as good as I expected, but still pretty fun. The weird story/lore/etc. was a mixed bag; it kind of bounced back and forth between "really intriguing" and "this is a bit too silly" for me - although I can always appreciate a game that isn't afraid to be unique. I was also a fan of the art direction, and the game looks/runs fantastic on PS5. Combat was pretty enjoyable overall: throwing stuff around with telekinesis was always really satisfying, and the gunplay was at least passable, though not great. There's one particular end-game sequence that's really awesome and a highlight of the whole game - no spoilers, but you'll know when the badass music kicks in. I wish the game had a better mini-map, though; it's a 2D map of locations that often have multiple levels stacked on one another, so pinpointing your actual location or destination can be a bit confusing. The plentiful in-game signs do a much better job of leading you around, so just rely on those. I was also a bit surprised at how short the game was; I thought I was towards the middle of the story at one point, and then the game just kind of rapid-fired through the last few chapters, and I think I was done with the base game's story in under 10 hours. Each DLC expansion took me 3-ish hours (although there are a few DLC trophies I didn't feel like getting), and the plat just kind of happened along the way, so around 16 hours for me overall. Surprisingly short, though it didn't overstay its welcome, and I have a huuuuuuge backlog, so whatever. Plat was easy, and honestly about 90% of it was completed just through normal gameplay. I just had to look up where a couple of sidequests and bosses were, and the rest of the trophies came naturally. Tips: make sure you're regularly clearing out countermeasures and bureau alerts as you go, so you don't have to farm them later on. And always pick up/interact with things with the square-button prompt when you see them. Finally, make sure you stay on top of your weapon/skill tree upgrades. There's also an "assist mode" where you can turn on immortality and the ability to kill everything in one hit. Surprisingly, they don't disable trophies, so if you're frustrated with the combat and just want to do everything in god mode, go nuts. Difficulty: 3.5/10 Difficulty (with Assist Mode on): 2/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Plat Time: 15-20 hours Edited December 1, 2021 by Mariner1534
Popular Post Yuuria_
#33 Ender Lilies Easily the best Indie game I've played this year. The genre is Metroidvania, a genre with many great exponents of which I've only played Hollow Knight; having such a narrow reference point all of my comparisons, where they feel suitable, will be with Team Cherry's game. We follow a little girl named Lily along her quest to save Land's End from the scourge of the Blight. The world is dark, haunting, decrepit; and yet manages to be beautful and tranquil all the same. The art design is astounding. I don't really have the words to describe it, just take a look for yourself (spoiler 1 and 2 are screenshots of the game taken in order to showcase the graphics). I just love how much of a contrast there is between Lily herself and the surrouding environment, with the glowing aura around her she feels like a ray of light in the hopeless kingdom she inhabits; her fears and insecurities are beautifully potrayed through her animations; she nevers says a word througout the game but it's easy to figure out how she's feeling at any given moment. Spoiler Spoiler The world speaks, there are little details to be found everywhere, often accompanied by notes, that flesh out the world and its people. Being just a young child Lily is defensless against most enemy attacks and will therefore let her companions do the fighting while she tries her hardest to stay safe. Our young Priestess' vulnerability is also quite evident from the way she's animated, often closing her eyes and recoiling during combat. I've seen some people describing the combat system as 'like Hollow Knight but much much worst' but that couldn't be further from the truth. The two systems have nothing to do with one another. Hollow Knights promotes a very aggressive playstyle due to the Soul bar needed to both heal and use special moves being filled by hitting enemies, while Ender Lilies has a semi-fixed number of heals and locks special moves (Spirits) behind independent cooldowns thus significantly slowing down the pace; this is also further exacerbated by the fact that Lily often freezes in place while attacking, making defense and good timing a priority. Every boss, upon being defeated and purified, will travel with Lily granting her new moves and will often trigger a short cutscene that serves as a direct, albeit cryptic, window into the past of Land's End. During the opening hours of the game I didn't feel the need to change my Spirits setup (you can carry up to 6 at any given time) but only did so out of curiosity and ultimately played with whatever felt better; the game does a good job at lulling the player into a false sense of security when it comes to difficulty. After the opening hours the music changes, the areas become tougher and the bosses truly start to test you. The challenge spike is palpable, you go from cruising through the levels to being stuck on a boss in what feels like an instant. Despite the increased difficulty the game never enters the realm of the unfair, the fights simply go from being easy to requiring multiple attempts to learn enemy patterns and behaviour. The Souls-like learning progression that some bosses provide, going from getting annihilated in seconds to conquering them with ease, is amazing. This is also the point where not changing Spirits to match the situation will start seeing diminishing return. (The current Platinum % sits at a very comfortable 58,71 so its really not that hard, please do not be discouraged) The map, an important feature for such a backtrack heavy genre like Metroidvania, is sadly extremely basic: every screen is identified by a simple square giving no information about how much progress has been made towards reaching the next area. Only one feature of the map manages to stand out, color coding. When there are no more colletibles to be grabbed in any given screen the box on the map that identifies that screen turns yellow (from blue). Despite being a minor feature in the grand scheme of things this truly makes all the difference during cleanup for us completionists. The Music is a standout and probably the best thing about Live Wire's game. Tracks are short and will loop for as long as you're in the area they're associated to and yet they never get tiring. Every single piece of music fits its area and greatly enhances the somber tones of the game. I often stopped at respites to listen to the music and have also been listening to it outside of the game; it's that good! Only 1 missable trophy is present in Ender Lilies and even that one requires the player to have a catastrophic management of upgrade materials; simply make sure to not spread your resources too think and only upgrade the Spirits you really like. It took me around 25 hours to Platinum the game. Some say that the short lenght doesn't justify the 30Є price tag but that's up to each individual to decide, there are some post-game challenges present for those who like some extra content with their games and I personally found every cent's worth in my time with the game and do truly reccommend it as the little gem I believe it is. Every year a couple of Indie games release that remind me of why I play videogames in the first place, titles born from their creators' love and passion like Hollow Knight, Transistor, Celeste, Gris, Unravel, etc, I believe Ender Lilies deserves to be put in the same list as the aformentioned games. I'd like to thank anyone who made it up to this point despite the lenght and many errors I probably made. It took me a very long time to write this, I like writing 'reviews' and I guess I was on a vacation when God was handing out the gift of synthesis but still, I always try to keep my posts here at a reasonable lenght as to not bore the few people who read my stuff. This time however I made the decision to let myself go and be more discoursive, mainly because the game in question is relatively niche and unknown and I wanted to be more detailed to hopefully pique someone's interest. I hope it went well! Edited December 1, 2021 by Yuuria_ Note about spoilers
