Popular Post Celestial_Lily
Platinum #60 - Saw (PS3) Difficulty: 3.5/10 Thisss was.. interesting, to say the least. It was a bit neat playing through a Saw game but the 7x7 grid puzzles and pipe puzzles drove me up the wall oh my gosh. The game was relatively simple otherwise but the timed nature of these puzzles broke my brain. I'm not much of a puzzler and ittt definitely impacted my enjoyment and made it a real struggle to continue at times. I still kind of want to play the 2nd though. Popular Post Fleks_Mhteam
#282 DARK SOULS II - SCHOLAR OF THE FIRST SIN The Dark Soul Time to platinum: 70 Hours Difficulty: 5/10 (subjective) Enjoyment: 9/10 Dark Souls II is similar to a weird cousin that keeps being annoying but still entertains you. And I like Dark Souls II a lot, I even like it more than Dark Souls III... Yeah it is not as shiny, bosses are for the most part "dudes in armor" or just meh, hitboxes are all over the place, the eight direction control scheme is pointless, level design is pretty much non existant and the whole game feels like a giant tube. And it is basically the sum of those parts that makes Dark Souls II so great in my opinion, the fact that it is so wrong on so many levels but still was able to be Frankensteined together. Its like the difference between beautiful and interesting. Dark souls 3 is beautifully crafted together as a best of Souls games, its slick, shiny and polished but even though it is a great game I felt kinda empty and underwhelmed after finishing it while Dark Souls II was constantly throwing garbage at me in some form or another, it made me rage, it made me laugh, it entertained me and I felt satisfaction after it ended without being bored a single minute. Popular Post Draps-1337
#105 Ghostrunner Difficulty 4/10 Enjoyment 9/10 What a journey. This is definitely my favorite cyberpunk-themed game to come out in 2020. This hotline miami inspired fps cyber ninja action game was filled with awesome encounter design, an absolutely banging soundtrack by Daniel Deluxe, and super satisfying platforming. I'll admit the initial difficulty for me was managing the control scheme, I fiddles around with the presets and landed on one the felt right with jump on right bumper, dash on left bumper, attack on right trigger and grapple on left trigger. Normally I'm a X to jump kind of guy, but the game demanded that I be able to aim while jumping on and off walls. So I couldn't share my thumb like that. Highly recommend this platinum. I had a few issues, the trophies got broken in a patch late last year and I didn't notice until I had almost finished the game. So I stopped playing. They fixed the trophies in a patch a couple of days ago and I hopped right back into it. Unfortunately the trophies I had already satisfied the requirements for didn't auto pop. so I had to go back and replay half the game. No big deal it was super enjoyable.
Popular Post EIdain
Platinum #69 - Gris Personal Growth - Common: 55.63% Appropriately a nice game for plat 69. Tonally it's the opposite of nice as it is another indie title that deals with loss & grief. This one sets itself apart with it's incredible art style and stellar soundtrack. Gameplay revolves around platforming with some light puzzle solving, it's kept interesting by the addition of new moves/skills for each level and some solid level design to complement it. As you might expect for a game with a common platinum on the site it's a pretty easy trophy list. The only slight annoyance being the Eel trophy for dodging some AI attacks. Perhaps a few too many collectibles but at least they serve a purpose in unlocking a secret ending. I somehow managed to miss one of the collectibles during my play-through so the chapter select and means of tracking were very helpful.Enjoyment: 8/10Difficulty: 1/10Playtime: 5 hours

Popular Post madbuk
#407 - Horizon Chase Turbo I have been meaning to play this since it came to PS+, but have only just now gotten to it. It's... okay. I did quite enjoy my time with the campaign and getting 100% in that, but the tournaments and endurances afterwards were a slog that weren't very fun at all. 111 races in a row, really? The rubberbanding was also ridiculous in some of the final tournaments too, I understand why racing games have rubberbanding, but they should at least be subtle about it. I was mainly interested in this game because I had played Outrun via Yakuza and quite enjoyed it and this looked very similar. It is definitely inspired by Outrun and plays very similarly, and it's something unique that I haven't really seen any other racing game do. I'd be interested in seeing another game try it and hopefully without any tedious padding like this one had to ramp up the playtime unnecessarily, because there's good foundations here hidden underneath all the tedious endurances and rubberbanded tournaments.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time revisiting Kamurocho and tackling all the craziness and minigames that is to be expected from this series. There was one or two Climax battles that was cheap and annoying but the rest weren't too bad. Some of the Majima encounters were hilarious. Popular Post Carol
#207 Thief (PS3) Man of Steal The True Master Thief This was a PS Plus game years ago and I finally decided to give it a try. I know that people don't seem to like "Thief" much, but I don't think it's a bad game. It's definitely not great, but it's entertaining and if you like stealth, like I do, you will probably enjoy it for what it is. Of course Dishonored or Styx are much better, but I found it decent and enjoyable. Trophy-wise, both PS3 and PS4 versions of this game have an ultra-rare platinum, which was a great motivation for me to keep the momentum until I got this sweet platinum. This is not a hard platinum, but it heavily relies on following guides for the collectibles and the 73 hidden areas. The navigation in this game is pretty awful and there's no fast travel, so you always have to walk to your destination (even if you want to replay chapters), while avoiding the enemies. Fortunately, the city that serves as hub is rather small. The Master playthrough with custom difficulty settings isn't that hard either, especially if you already know the game and the stealth routes well. Only escaping the boss from chapter 7 gave me some trouble; the rest is completely doable with some trial and error.
EcoShifter
All-Star Fruit Racing Champion Unlock all the trophies Well, it's a suitable trophy image and especially platinum title. I'll take it. A fruit themed kart racer that's not better than mainstream kart racing franchises, like Mario Kart and Sonic racing, overall, but still fairly good and worth playing at the appropriate price. Roster Twenty-two characters in total (17 females, 5 males. . . weird ratio there). Despite all the character portraits alluding to personality the characters have, it's not actually the case. Each gender falls under certain character archetypes. Females have the most, falling under 3 types, while males (just barely) fall under 2 types. For females', there's the one playing with their cellphone type (8), the short girls that take a bow before twirling type (4), and the last seemingly being the impatient type (5). Now with males, 4/5 males fall under the same type (no surprise), while only 1/5 falls under a unique type/his own type. The fucked up part about the 4/5 group is that it's a direct copy of one of the female's, which essentially gives the male group no identity of their own. Lastly, every character also shares the same podium animations. Stages One of, if not, the best parts about this game. It's obvious that stages received a lot of focus during development. There's 21 total stages, 4 stages per themed-island except for the last which has one extra stage. In terms of both background detail and physical track design (twisting, sharp, curvy, spiraling, upward, downward roads, etc, some celling/wall driving) they're are simply very good. Colorful and environmentally varied (beach, snow, rocky terrain, etc), too. Just all around really good. Gameplay & Items There's several weird parts about the gameplay. There's this weightless impact and non-existent sound cues upon collision from air to ground, as well as contact onto vehicles and walls. The button mapping for looking backwards is the down button on the d-pad (because of the item system concept), which is physically inconveniently and clearly doesn't work well for strategic maneuvers or ideas that rely on looking backwards while driving. The item system is unique compared to the typical kart racer, as items can be combined with one, two, or three others to make a new move. Each button on the action pad corresponds to one of the four tanks that need to be filled up with a certain type of juice that when full becomes an attack that can be launched or combined with other tanks of juice for other, usually more powerful attacks. When all four tanks are combined it's known as a Mega-Juice (ultimate) move, which is unique per character, though some of them function similar to others. Vehicle control is good all around—feels good to play, whether it's steering, turning, or drifting. Up to 10 participants can race, which is customizable outside career, and there is up to four player split-screen. Under the name Pistons, speed difficulties are here, including easy (one piston), medium (two piston), and hard (three piston). Music Unfortunately it's subpar, even on an atmospheric level. It's not catchy, memorable, or entertaining enough to listen to outside (and even within) the game. Content Some good stuff here, including vehicle customization, online play, tutorial, time attack, championship (fast and custom), career, custom race and all its modes. Career comprises of 11 cups and doesn't feature a story. The tutorial is well designed, showing the player all the essentials with the various mechanics. Time attack isn't super hard overall but contains challenging times on some stages, on hard. As bad as this might seem, this mode is where I had the most fun, despite there not being an option to race friend or online player's time. Customization is above average, allowing the body, body mask, wheels, rims, front mask, antenna, and horn to be changed on a garage menu. Multiple creations, which can also be randomized, can be made and saved under slots, and they can always be used regardless of which character is picked. Custom race is the go-to mode where regular races can be had. Besides championships, it's also where all the other different (5) race events can be played. Championship (regular and fast, offline and online) is a series of 2-6 races that can take place, with customizable laps, difficulty, stages, and race events. (Its fast counterpart randomizes everything for the player.) Compared to just about every other kart racer I have and played (Crash's, Sonics', etc) online play was unexpectedly competent and smooth all the time from my experience when getting the online trophies. Didn't have any of the usual or unusual connection issues that is seen and experienced in other games of the genre. It also doesn't take a long time to connect online and set up a lobby, and every game mode except time attack, tutorial, and career can be played online. Voice chat also exist, and there is a option to mute people if necessary. As always, I also highly appreciate the ability to invite people without adding them. Unlockables exist and it even has its own section, which is great. It contains content like, other piston difficulties, characters, kart parts, and has a description on how to unlock them all. Really appreciate this game giving this its own viewable section. However, I don't like the design choice of characters being locked behind amount of time played, e-especially when time spent in time attack is excluded. Trophies A lot are straightforward but there are some grind based and online ones as well. One of the type of trophies I really hate are those that require a certain amount of time to be spent playing the game, especially in the cases when they're the only ones left after all other trophies are obtained. This game has four of those trophies, and it's clearly a cheap way to prolong people to keep playing the game. It's two, five, ten and twenty hours. By the time I finished everything in the career and gotten every miscellaneous offline trophy that was obtainable, I hadn't even reached five hours. The worse part about this all is for these trophies, time spent in time attack is excluded. I'd willingly bet this was done deliberately to prevent trophy hunters from abusing indefinite idle time in time attack to get all the time-related trophies, which can't be done in any other mode. So with time attack completed after the career that left me with mainly the time based and online trophies. I focused on whatever I could, which due to the mostly inactive online, was grinding for time. Did the method from the one guide here. Eventually I found a partner for the online and took care of everything in under two hours, leaving the tedious grind for the remaining time-related trophies. The game could have really did without those trophies, or alternatively time spent playing time attack should be allowed. Popular Post MyNameIs_Rainman
#175 Yakuza Like A Dragon My first Yakuza game, and I loved every moment of it. The characters were excellent, the story was solid and the environment was pretty good too. I know there is a PS5 version coming out soon but I was too eager to give it a go and see what the hype behind the franchise was, and I was not disappointed at all! I know as far as difficulty, it's easier than the others especially because its not very focused on the minigames, but I hope to at least visit the other games of the series and see if I can get one of those games under my belt as well. Ichiban is an amazing protagonist and his growth was excellent. I can't recommend this game enough, it was a great way to start off plats this year.

Popular Post Darghel
#93 True Successor of Hokuto Shinken (Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise) Difficulty: Very grindy, but nothing too difficult at least Time to Complete: Around 90 hours or slightly less Recommended: Hmmm...yes and no Total Score: 8.5/10 I kinda grew up with Hokuto no Ken as a kid - simply called "Ken the Warrior" here - and while it's weird for a kid to see body blowing up and stuff, I just found it amazing how ken could make enemies explode with a finger. So with this game, I get to be that Kenshiro again, only in a Yakuza-like setting where you got a small, but packed city full of stuff to do, a story to follow, fun and rather amusing combat filled with bloody explosions, and lots of postgame content to do. But it's definitely not a perfect game: the combat can be confusing, the minigames are fun but some could've used more polish (talking to you, racing minigame!!!!), the wasteland area is big but feels rushed, especially when you won't even explore half of it during your normal playthrough, and worst of all, the story is very boring and I really got disappointed how rushed and basically barely made much sense at the end, with a twist villain that while I won't spoil it, it was far from being a surprise. But I can't say I didn't have fun, and in fact I enjoyed the grind in this game because if the game didn't really bother to amplify your options, it was up to me to do it: suddenly exploring the map was up to me, finding ways to do the side content better was up to me, and that's when the game got a lot more exciting. Exploring the area helped me find the traders for those rare materials I needed, essentially killing the rng and only requiring you to grind a certain amount of coins and arena points for anything you needed. In the end, it just ground but the kind where you can do it easier by just...playing the game, and with the racing minigame I could obtain so many materials that I barely had to go outside the city... ...but let's face it, it's still a freaking grind, and that's why I'm not sure it's a recommended thing: I'm used to grindy trophies, this is no exception, but the main issue for me was how the racing minigame was BAD and how 90% of the materials you need are from the race! Upgrading the buggy is also frustrating, you get so many pieces for your buggy but you can't use them until you repair it?! Come on, did they have to take inspiration from Xenoblade 2 AWFUL aux core system, where you get truckloads of cores you think you can use, only to find out that you must fill them with specific items in order to be actually equipped? JUST LET ME USE THE PIECE ALREADY! Or, if you want me to craft something, ACTUALLY say it's a crafting plan! Teasing me with the word "Junk" instead of "plan" doesn't make it better! In the end, I had a good time doing most of the trophies, with maybe the talisman upgrade being the most tedious but mostly because of the requirement of large sums of BP from the racing game (practically any talisman needed a mat from the BP shop, so I probably did over a hundred races just for the augites and mats!). Most of the other grinds were ok or at least easy, like the nightclub minigame. But I'm not sure if it's worth a platinum and unless you're an old fan of Kenshiro like me, I think you'd better be off playing Yakuza instead. It just feels lackluster and the only thing that kept me playing, was seeing Kenshiro in a tuxedo shaking drinks at a bar, or curing people as if he was some sort of Jesus Christ, or playing a sega Mark 3 console with a game about himself...oh and nugget. Well see for yourself if you're curious but I dunno, I think it's skippable...but if you want, it's fun to do it if you take your time. guy_flies
On 1/28/2021 at 0:25 PM, StewartBros said: # 167 Platinum Trophy Unlock all other trophies "Uphold the principles of our order and all that for which we stand, never share our secrets nor divulge the true nature of our work. Do so, until death - whatever the cost. This is my new creed. I am Shay Patrick Cormac, Templar of the Colonial.... of the American rite." I played Rogue about 5 years ago, back on PS3, and decided that enough time had passed for me to play the Remastered version now I still enjoyed it - the story is too short, and could really have been done with being longer, but Shay's story arc was still pretty good. It features several characters from AC III and IV, and somewhat ties into the very beginning of AC Unity when you start the final mission. The naval combat is pretty much the same as in AC IV, though Shay does have a few new moves and weapons when on land. I did experience numerous graphical glitches during play, such as enemies getting stuck within objects in the environment, one character failing to load in during a cutscene (resulting in Shay talking to thin air and said thin air talking back to him ?), and even falling through the map when I was inside one of the caves, resulting in my having to exit and reload the game, but none of these were especially problematic. I still have assorted collectibles to locate, side missions to do, and some naval routes to unlock, so I'll get those done even though I already platted the game. Earning a platinum is no reason to immediately stop playing a game that you enjoy. Until Origins came along Rogue was my favourite AC. I think it gets overlooked because it was originally a PS3-only release (despite the PS4 having been around a year and getting it's own title released at the same time). I don't think they meant to but the writers/developers really showed how flawed the Creed is, not just in their actions during Rogue but throughout the entire series. Their blind focus on beating the Brotherhood to relics despite the harm on civilians made them seem like zealots and I've never looked at Assassins the same way since. Shay was likeable. Until Bayek came along he was also my favourite protagonist in the series. And bringing the Black Flag mechanics to a beautiful map (the snowy Atlantic was gorgeous) was great combo. And it was a moderate challenge platinum to boot. I only had trouble with a single trophy. One where a specific kind of ship needed to appear on the map. I had to grind a bit for that one waiting for them to spawn.

Popular Post snakebit10
You're THE Driver, Baby 334 I was in the mood for a racing game and this was on sale recently. I grabbed this and Dirt 4. Decided on this as it seem to be the easier of the two to platinum. I am glad I did. I will be honest it was very fun at first, than I hit a little bit of a frustrating period. Once I leveled up my vehicles and got some better ones the fun returned. I really like that is different types of cars, boats, motorcycles and planes. I put in way more time than the guide says it takes, but I was just having so much fun with. The hardest parts for me was the rival races. The first one I won first try but the other 3 took a few tries or more. The last one I had took a ton of tries. Really had to practice a bit so I could win. Overall a fun racer and am proud to have it. Trophy wise it really isn't that difficult. If you are already good at racing games you may have no problem at all with.
