Popular Post h4mx0r
#79 - Ergophobia It took me six years to earn this platinum. SIX YEARS. There was this one boss I just couldn't beat, and I would try again every year, but get frustrated and move onto something else... And yet, finally... here I am. Ponce de Freon can suck it!!! I normally don't post my plats in here very often but I just had to share this achievement. I feel like a weight has been lifted.
Popular Post Gamer-Girl-Noire
#122 persona 5 royal - The Phenomenal Phantom Thief i went into this expecting to not like it much as i didn't click too much with p5 back when it first came out in 2017. it took me about 100 hours to fully platinum the list is way easier this time but i also find the easier list was more enjoyable. i didn't have to worry about enjoying it but also trying to get trophies aswell like i know i think its original version was like read all books and watch the all DVD's which i didn't do in royal and i'm glad as once i hit the max in a stat i could use that time to do other things within the game be it boost another stat or just do a night confidant. overall i did enjoy it and i played it mainly across the month to kinda break it up as i feel like if you did it in a week it would be pretty burnt out.

Popular Post ShonenCat
Platinum #82 - Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Difficulty Rating 3/10 Enjoyment Rating 8/10 Uncommon - 26.09% After months and months of waiting and avoiding any spoilers or gameplay, NISA and Falcom finally bring Ys IX to the west.. and in typical Ys fanboy fashion, I bought it as soon as I was able to at full price. Was it everything I hoped for? Hmm, I’d say yes and no. While it does take some leaps forward, I don’t think it is quite as epic as the masterpiece that is Ys VIII. Still, there is plenty here for any action RPG fanatic to sink their teeth into. Adol Christin and his buddy Dogi end up trapped in the prison city of Balduq and it is up to them and a group of newly befriended vigilantes to uncover the secrets of the city and its prison without drawing attention to themselves. In this game, about 60% of it takes place within the concrete jungle that is the city hub. This can be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. The city hub is well structured and is fun and easy to get around once you obtain all the necessary Monstrum powers from other party members. But for me, Ys is about traveling and seeing extraordinary sights, mostly in nature and ruins. While there is a good amount of that here, it has been dialed back quite a bit to allow the city to fully flesh itself out. Falcom must be pretty proud of it. Only after a great while will you be able to travel outside of the city. It wouldn’t be Ys without dungeons, and there are a hearty amount here. Some have neat and complex designs that have you utilize your Monstrum powers while others feel like cookie cutter sewer mazes. I feel they could of touched up on some of these a little better. Even the final dungeon is extremely watered down compared to its predecessor. The adventure is also not without its superb music, the rocking overworld theme to the dread filled dungeon slaps are all on point here. However, I hear Ys IX’s soundtrack has the fanbase rather divided.. but there is nothing here I particularly hate. The musical identity here is very fitting to the entire journey. If there is one thing that did cut back my enjoyment exponentially, it was the minimal amount of full voice acting. There are voiced lines in cutscenes throughout Ys IX, but not as much as I would of hoped for this time around. You will be doing A LOT of silent reading on this journey. A lot of this comes from side quests, which do play a part in character and world building quite immensely. So for these to feel like a slog is rather heartbreaking. These side quests are also required for those looking to platinum the game. Regarding the platinum journey itself, this is the easiest Ys game to date. If you’re familiar with Ys VIII, you’ll feel mostly right at home with this one.. both in its fast and addictive combat and trophy structure. Ys IX does cut back on a few things though. No more getting every item/weapon/equipment, no more searching and whacking all mineral deposits and no fishing to be had. Even Nightmare difficulty feels toned down compared to other installments. However, there are quite a share of missables here nonetheless. The biggest ones are completing all side quests, obtaining all recipes and finding all gifts for NPCs. A lot of these can be overlooked and locked out of reach when advancing chapters. It’s crucial you keep an eye on the bar’s mission board and check the map for any green explanation marks every chapter, DO THESE ASAP! Be sure to have a recipe guide nearby so you know where and when to find them. Same goes for the gifts for NPCs. You’ll need these to raise affinity levels for a specific trophy. Character notes will add to their profiles as you provide them gifts, be sure to talk to all characters in between chapters as well.. for a few notes are hidden in conversations at very specific points in the story. This certainly wouldn’t be my favorite Ys title, for it takes many steps forward but also many steps back. It also doesn’t feel nearly as long as Ys VIII while at the same time feels too long with the amount of silent dialogue you have to read through.. and that’s not a good sign if I’m saying a game in the Ys series is too long. Would I still recommend it though? Absolutely ❤️ It is fantastic adventure that must be played all the way through despite its shortcomings. I love it enough to consider buying it again on Switch when that port releases. This is certainly my most favorite platinum journey of the year so far! For newcomers to the series, I must stress that you play Ys VIII before Ys IX. I think your enjoyment for both games will be that much higher if you go in that order. Falcom games tend to get pricey as time goes on, so be sure to shop responsibly. As for me, I do intend to go through this game again someday in the hopes I end up liking it more than I did the first time around. Wherever Adol and Dogi end up in their future adventures, I’ll be sure to follow right alongside them wherever the wind may take us for years to come

Popular Post sephiroth4424
#243 Tales of Innocence R Enjoyment: 6/10 Difficulty: 3/10 This is a very special platinum as it's the first time i've played a game in a language i can't understand. ToIR wasn't localized, everything is in Japanese. I decided to go for the plat since that was the only ''Tales of'' game that was missing from my completion. Many thanks to @AppleKratue for the excellent walkthrough guide and @Undead Wolf for explaining some things furthermore. Obviously i didn't understand anything from the story which is a bit shame #244 Drakengard 3 The Final Song Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: 5/10 After playing Nier, i was determined to play Drakengard 3, even paying 30 euros for the dlcs (most i've ever payed for dlc). I loved the game, music, characters just like in Nier. As always, not a happy ending but it was expected. I would love to see a remake of this one on ps4/ps5 as long as they keep the dialogues untouched. Besides Zero, my favorite sister was Two and most hated was Four. As for the final boss, if it wasn't for the youtube videos the difficulty would be 10/10. Even with the video it took me 4-5 hours but fortunately i loved the song so it was bearable #245 The Sims 3 Master of Simology Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Nothing special about this one. Just clearing my ps3 backlog. Easy plat without stress #246 Hunted: The Demon's Forge Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 3/10 After playing 1-2 hours, i didn't like the game. It was very dark and playing as warrior was lame. He is very slow. Changing to Elf (archer) made a big difference though and it helped me clear the game without feeling like doing a chore. The plat is easy, you just need to spend some time creating crucible rooms since servers are closed Edited May 29, 2021 by sephiroth4424

Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #605 (THE MOTHERSHIP!!!): The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game Difficulty: 2/10 Playtime: 15 hours, ten seconds(!) First off, some hearty Ninja Props to whomever tipped me off to this game being free for a period last year... I can't quite recall, and I'm not going to pore through copious message archives... you know who you are! Might've never given this a go of my own volition. Anyways, suffice to say, I had no idea what a "Ninjago" was before this game was brought to my attention... can't tell whether or not I'm disappointed by its lack of connection to a certain musical masterpiece by one Vanilla Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Ice. Big fan of The LEGO Movie and its sequel here, so, hoping for more, I decided to do some due diligence and watch its source material... fun times. Certainly a lot better than The LEGO Batman Movie. So, anyway, thus armed with context and all that, I decided to get down to bricky business as usual... or is it? ...Yeah, so this is one of the newer games that play a bit fast and loose with the formula. I appreciate TT making some strides in trying to stave off stagnancy... but just like The LEGO Movie 2 game, it goes a bit too far in the other direction than is preferred. The story levels (done away with in record time!), which double as hub worlds, feel oddly rushed and padded at the same time. They never quite hit the sweet spot of content vs. quality... though there is thankfully much less of the slow, plodding fetch quest stuff that marred much of TLM2. The combo-based battle system, too, comes off similarly half-baked, ironically rendering mid-air attacks and ground pounds the go-to strategy just like in previous titles. Lastly, the Sly Cooper-esque approach to environment navigation hardly ever feels consistently satisfying, leading me to a dismal death more than once. Not conducive to the kind of feeling of slick environmental mastery endemic to ninjutsu at all. Despite these setbacks, it's still a somewhat satisfying and breezy LEGO experience to be had, as there is a very satisfying and stable flow to the completionist aspect... but it also displays a development team unsure about the future direction of the games. Traveller's Tales continue to display a very poor awareness of their actual flaws, and make changes where they're not needed instead. It don't really fill me with optimism towards the coming LEGO Star Wars game at all... At least the price was right...? Rating: 6.5/10
Popular Post MrGarland
Platinum #111 Brink Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment 6/10 Here it is, the first PS3 I played. I know I could've started with something else, but just a couple of things I should mention. As I've said before, I bought my PS3 back in Fall 2011. By the time I bought it, I only had enough money for a select few games: this, GTA IV and some minor ones. I know I could've bought the Uncharted Trilogy, but I ignored that for some reason. I corrected myself and bought them sometime after that. Anyway, what got me buying this is beyond me. I guess it was the favorable reviews I saw back then. When I first started it, I had no idea how to play it and stopped playing after the first 30 minutes. I did pop a couple of trophies during that, which left the mark on my trophy list. I planned to give it another try, but not anytime soon. After a lot of planning, I finally decided to shape up and start cleaning my backlog. Starting from this game. Returning after almost ten years feels more or less nostalgic, as I had both good and bad experiences with this. So, what can I say about the game? I'll keep it short this time. This game could've been awesome, but I have one major complaint to make. Anyone who's played this game should know what I mean. Yes, the AI. While your teammates are dumb, the enemy on the other hand, is merciless at times. These facts make completing missions hard at times, even when you play on Easy. There were times when I couldn't complete the objective just because the enemy was way too aggressive. At least the trophies are easy enough. Another thing I'm not fond of is that whenever I'm shooting a single enemy, he somehow ends up taking most of my health before dying, despite that I started shooting him first. Is anything in this game balanced? A big shout out to @ThomB_19 for helping me (and vice-versa) to get Tough as nails trophy, which is the hardest one in the game. When playing in co-op, it's much easier and more enjoyable as you don't have to deal with unforgivingly hard enemy AI, and you can also play on Easy. Also, the said trophy's description confuses me. Despite that the trophy says it can be done online versus, we knocked that out when playing as a team in a said mode. Either I'm missing something, or they've changed it somehow. I thought I'd mention that this game also has DLC, with a few trophies. Sadly, it has been delisted from the store (at least where I live), which prevents me from getting a 100% on this. I know I could create an alternate account, but I'll pass on that. The platinum is enough for me, even though it looks rather bland. Overall, it's ok. It had a potential to be even better, but because of AI and such, it won't be able to reach that point. It's still fun when playing in co-op, but in solo, not so much. If you plan to platinum this, make it easier for yourself and play in co-op while it's still possible. For my next project, it's almost done. All I can say about it is that while it's certainly a much better game, it also has proven itself to be rather frustrating at times. More about that when I get it done (which hopefully shouldn't take too long). Edited May 31, 2021 by MrGarland

Popular Post Zircon_Lotus
Platinum #110 Trials of Mana Trials of Mana is a remake of the game with the same name for SNES. I never played the original, but liked this remake. This is the most beautiful anime game that I played on PS4, maybe losing only to Dragon Quest XI. The gameplay is simple, but fun, and the soundtrack is very good. I didnt use, but I liked the fact that the game included the original soundtrack in the options. This game remembered me of early FF games and a time where JRPGs had a more simple and straightforward story, contrary to the more complex stories of most recent games. My younger self would surely enjoy the class change system, it made me remember how excited I was before changing classes in Fire Emblem games. What I did not like is that, although you can use six different protagonists, the story does not change significanly. It changes the main villain and some dungeons, but overral the game is the same, so it makes the two additional playthroughs for the platinum a pain. Even different villains act the same way, and have the same lines. Another thing that I disliked is that there is little interaction between the characters during cutscenes, some are a bit strange with the other two party members just there staring and not talking. The platinum is very simple and straightforward. I would like to point a more efficient way to get lvl 99 and get the abilities trophy. Start a new game plus loading a file where you completed the game and include one of the characters from the previous party there, and choose to keep the lvl. Yes, this playthrough will be very easy, but you will not have to do any post game grind. With the Love of Mana ability and the Lil' Cactus 3x EXP random buff, this character will be lvl 99 or very close by the time you finish your playthrough. The post-game boss on hard is not challenging, and the Dark Rabite is not challenging either, at least if your characters are close to the 90's. Lil' Cactus are very easy to spot, but there are guides if you need. I liked Trials of Mana and would recommend it you like action JRPGs. The game is very beautiful and has a simple, yet engaging gameplay. The lingering nostalgia feeling is also very enjoyable. The story is too bland and I think it does not use the six protagonists the better way, but it offers a solid experience nevertheless. You will enjoy it if you like games like this.

Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #139 - Poison Control 35.89% Rarity Difficulty - 3/10, Time Spent - ~15 Hours , Enjoyment 5/10 Poison Control is about a person who is sent to hell and lends their body to a Poisonette, a being that can purge poison from the individual hells that people's souls live in. They purge poison and monsters from these hells in order to gain tickets to get into heaven and have their wishes be granted. Poison Control is a basic 3rd Person Shooter game, which is a genre I'm very unfamiliar with yet still seemed to fare OK with. You have various types of "toxicants" that you can shoot at enemies along with several different types of "antidotes" and "catalysts" to buff yourself with. You pick up these equipment from finding gems within each of the 27 different hellscapes that you are trying to cleanse. While in the various hells, you are fighting monsters called "Klesha" (yes, I was thinking Ke$ha the entire time) and also trying to purge pools of poison. Defeating monsters and purging poison give you money, experience, and special kinds of ammo. Purging poison will also heal you, so that's a pretty great mechanic, especially when you start running into the pools of poison that will regenerate. During each hell, you get to know the person who made the hell. You find out their backstory and what drove them to end up in hell. Most of the stories are pretty interesting, but none of them last long enough to make you get invested in any of the characters. Even the main characters you don't get too invested in because they are both amnesiacs whose backstories are never really brought to the forefront of things (eventually you do get both of their backstories, but if you blink, you'll miss it... they don't spend much time on it at all). On thing I kind of hated was the voice acting. Everyone was the stereotypical high-pitched Japanese voice actress style. Too much... Oh, and thanks to @greenzsaber for making such a great guide (it's on his website but linked in the forums). I think I would have spent quite a bit more time on this game if I didn't have that to look at for the collectible gems. Anyway, definitely wasn't worth the $65 I dropped on the collector's edition (though the extra goodies in the CE were pretty nice... NISA always does a good job with their CEs), but if you can get it for $5-10 on sale, I'd say it's worth your time if you're a fan of the genre.
