Because it avoids the logging into ubisoft servers at the main menu which crashes the system. Launching MP then signing in allows you to play MP without it crashing.

PS4 Omen of Sorrow

When I start the game, the main menu is offline and I cannot play online.

Therefore, I don't think I can get online trophies.

I believe that's a known bug which is supposed to be getting fixed at some point ?. EDIT: @Smashero You know more about this game than I do so what's the current status of the technical problems, are they getting fixed or have the devs abandoned it?

The devs are doing a complete overhaul of the game, fixing all the bugs in the process. It was a mess when initially released on PS4, but with the new PS5 version and new physical release everything should be in working order.

Another piece of video game history disappearing on March 25th. Two of Breakthrough Gaming's Baseball games will be delisted on that date. The 3 and 4-Player Cooperation Editions to be precise. Make sure you share this announcement with family and friends so they don't miss out!

Mirror's Edge 1 is already toast, because they closed the servers for it a few months ago but Catalyst is still up and running. The first game can be 100'ed offline but Catalyst has online trophies, though I don't know if it's also affected by this shutdown or if EA are only talking about the original game.

I'll warn everyone who plans to start Bad Company 1, and I'll make it very clear...

 

Start at your own risk.

 

There are a very small, but persistent group of people that will know you are boosting. For the past couple of weeks we have been doing locked sessions, and have made a lot of progress that way. Not only will you be competing with those guys, but you will now be competing with server shutdown chasers. Alt accounts are a must for this game if you want to attempt to lock a server down, and even then the server MUST be stable.

 

How do you make it stable, I hear you ask? Well...

You will need to create a server which is often annoying if there is another active conquest or gold rush server. This third server that has been created will then need to crash, and you will need your alt, or maybe another person(?) to join it. This will then make it stable, and even then lifers will still attempt to join your server and will teamkill you if they even get a whiff of you boosting. Your awards aren't even the biggest grind overall, the 10k kills are, but the awards may be far trickier with newer people coming into the game, and some of you may not even finish, even with 6 months left.

As an additional addendum, "With my Devil Dogs" is notoriously buggy, and so is joining a game. The matchmaking will often simply search for any GR or conquest games, despite you selecting a specific map. With my Devil Dogs is buggy since it requires NAT type 1, but even NAT type 1 players are having trouble.

Since I know this will be asked, I'll be the first one to ask it: Can you Plat all 3 BF games in the 9 months until the servers close or is this a case of having to pick one and forfeit the rest?

Battlefield 1943 you can do everything in 10-15 matches and turbo the rest for 100 matches, completely afk.
Bad Company 2 just takes a bit of coordination, super easy to boost and overall solid game, recommend.
Bad Company 1.. have some dignity just let it die.

BC1 is very hard, buggy, and you need 10+ people to do it efficiently.

BC2 is easy to do legit in a few weeks, but for DLCs you need people.

1943 is easy I assume.

If you're thinking about doing Battlefield Bad Company, don't. Don't do it. It's not worth it. The servers are barely running and even if you can find a lobby that won't crash....it will crash. Also like @shipper321 said, the regulars (non trophy boosters, people who do nothing but play BFBC and disrupt boosting sessions) for this game need to do skydiving without parachutes or practice using drills on their own heads rather than playing this game. Sorry not sorry.

If you started it years ago when the servers were more stable, you may want to take advantage of it and get it done. I Platinum'ed BFBC and...it was the most stressful multiplayer trophy boost I've ever seen.

 

The drawback is the awards / stats are all in-game and it would be strongly recommended to create a word document of them to keep track since EA's stat tracking site for the game doesn't work.

But this was already shutdown according to the EA Services updates.

I didn't verify if the shutdown happened because I already played offline to be sure I didn't lose progress for time trials when the servers went offline. On top of that, I couldn't connect to the servers even before I continued playing. The servers were already erratic for a long time.

For those that wonder: Everything in Mirror's Edge on PS3 is obtainable offline.

Bad Company 2 was a fun Battlefield apart from Tryhards that makes the game difficult, Im happy to done the game back in August/September. I have updated the guide for the Vietnam expansion. I hope people will go after the game and get as much trophies as they can

Nobody is questioning why its December though. This isn't EA being nice. More shutdowns are coming you watch and ill put money on it that NfS hot pursuit and Most Wanted will be announced soon. Along with Crysis 3, Brutal Legend and Dantes Inferno. All theorizing at this point, but ask yourselves why they've announced 8 months in advance.
