I don't really see a point in trying to compete with others in trophy hunting. Many people don't even have standards, and they'll do absolutely anything to have a trophy on their profile, which makes competing an absolute joke. Too many people in the community are putting up a giant farce for some asslick they feel they need or deserve to help make them feel better about themselves. Save yourself the trouble from trying to get others to conform to your beliefs, and just enjoy your hobby the best way you know how. Getting caught up in other people's bullshit will just drive you mad.

There was a time when 100 platinum trophies were an impressive feat, now everyone can get 250 plats in less than 200 hours. I can see why people, who are refusing to sell their gamer soul, lose motivation to hunt trophies, at least those who care about rankings. I am just really happy that I never cared about that stuff.

i did say personally. Its barely affected me. My job is thriving in the mess. I had 0 threat of job loss. only difference is i have to wear a mask. We got swamped at work due to covid so i got major OT and for 4 months was working 60hr weeks minimum. Sometimes a Saturday shift.

 

Other than that, covid is what it is. ya it sucks people are dying but itll end whenever it ends. Vaccine or not.

I find that disgraceful too.  Buy up mayo 2 if you please, which i found the 1st ridiculous but kinda funny.  But when you region it, (i dont know how, care to know, or do) i find those profiles abhorrent.  It wasn't enough to play x, i need the eu version now...  Thats when trophy hunting has gotten out of control when you need multiple gimmes of the same game.   I might try this 1 out, who knows, but to buy it again on a new region almowt feels like cheating.  To each their own.

Randy Pitchford of Gearbox was right on the money when he explained their trophy philosophy in Borderlands 1. There is a sales incentive to not be too difficult with the list.

My gripes with this release:

 

1) The fact that I had to wait several years to finally see what the amazing cliffhanger from the first release lead to

2) No Vita stack to keep me going through this whole "amusing" thread

3) No love for people like me who enjoy Hawaiian Pizza ? 

4) No Frostbite engine even though this game could use it more than FIFA

5) Not enough memes but I can forgive this one cuz this whole game, comment and thread is one ?

It's quite obvious how divided the board is on this, and to think this would all be solved with a rarity board suggested years ago.

It really says a lot when a bunch of people here automatically jump on a game if it offers an easy platinum, but they'd be damned if they wanted to work on the Crash Bandicoot 4 platinum, which is not easy to get by any means.

 

The same people who bitched about Sonic Mania having no platinum and the same people who bitched about Mein Leben in Wolfenstein II to the point where they completely avoided the game entirely because of that one trophy. Now these are old discussions that have been run into the ground at this point, but to see thousands of people automatically jump on a game purely for the trophies instead of fulfilling a personal goal is sort of depressing.

 

I could probably count on my fingers the number of people who would buy My Name is Mayo 2 if it had no achievements/trophies. The game is amusing to say the least, but it's just like what the first game was. A giant pile of shit that is offered at chump change value, the same value homeless people on the street live by when those with an actual living give them a couple dimes on occasion.

 

The shovelware crap that Steam originated made its way onto PlayStation and other platforms. Then Ratalaika Games saw what My Name is Mayo did and basically capitalized on a small minority of trophy hunters who were stacking countless amounts of games simply for the dopamine hits.

 

The raw platinum count doesn't mean shit. The leaderboards are a complete joke, it's simply a race to how many crap games people can finish to maintain a high ranking.

 

I prefer to treat each and every game I play individually. I get a lot more enjoyment when I focus on my own personal goals and ambitions, then forcing myself to finish a bunch of overly easy games that were done on a shoestring budget. There are good indies out there done on a shoestring budget, but My Name is Mayo 2 is not one of them.

As long as people are having fun it really shouldn’t matter. The game is 99p, the first game is on sale for 39p - honestly the game has become so divisive at this point I’m tempted to pick them up just so I can have a laugh to myself about them years from now.

 

I have platinums on my profile that have taken 200+ hours. I also have a few ratalaikas, but I enjoyed them and got them on sale so I don’t feel like I did anything wrong, and I certainly don’t think I “tainted” my profile ?

 

Trophy hunting is what you make of it. Don’t let someone put you down for playing a game like this. Also, don’t feel like the hard games you’ve played are being made “worthless” because of “trash games”. One day years from now all the trophy data will probably get deleted anyway, just have fun with it.

 

Just don’t forget to sleep and end up looking dead behind the eyes like a certain well known trophy hunter... ?

Ever since these type of games started releasing in huge numbers. I’ve just started completely ignoring the main leaderboard and I’m completely ignoring all these games. Not worth my money, not worth my time. Not even 1 dollar and 10 minutes or whatever it is. I’m ignoring plat-count/trophy-count when looking at profiles as it simply means nothing anymore and if I’m looking at a profile filled with these titles, I simply back out. Not interesting. I just go on playing proper games like I always have and support the devs that deserves support.

 

Ruined the value? Yes. Does it really matter or bother me? No.

It's no surprise that they are so defensive about them. For a while now, that is all the leaderboards have amounted to. It has gotten so bad to the point where they have learned to embrace these shitty games. Sure, there is the casual type who may enjoy the giggles at what a joke this is, but for me, this no where near a fulfilling gaming experience. Then when a hard game comes along they complain about its difficulty and avoid it like the plague. They have spent all that time stacking these types of games that they probably get upset over the fact that trophies aren't just handed to them hot n ready on a silver platter after buying it and playing it for more than 15 minutes. Just Like Mein Leben from Wolfenstein and that dumb petition they started. That was fucking pathetic.

If you see it like a competition yes, if you doit for your own and be cause you like it is not ruined at all. I'm proud of all my platinums and I don't care in what # I'm in the learderboards of this site or any cause this has been like this since always nothing new to be sad or upset about it.

 

There's will be always a feeling of enjoy and success when you got a plat/100% of a game or a series you really like for me there is the catch with trophies not to race against guys I probably will never see in my life and if they have more money/time and just go for trophies and not fun of course I always going to be back cause I don't go for that I go for fun.
