Sardavanua
#184 - Plague Inc: Evolved Fully Evolved Loved the game back when I was a kid, so I bought this in a sale a few years ago. The trophies are fairly easy with a guide, but without a guide they would be MEGA BRUTAL (if you catch my drift). The trophy Film Fanatic can do one though. What a dumb dumb trophy. I had to reload my save like fourty times until it popped. Ugh. Nevertheless a fun game. Go ahead and try it. madbuk
#420 - Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair A very bittersweet completion here. Great game (although I do prefer the first one), but.. also my final Vita game. What an incredible handheld and I'm sad I have to say goodbye to it for now. As for the game, my main problem with it comes from how... over the top it is. Danganronpa 1 had some typical anime tropes but for the most part it was pretty grounded, the characters felt like actual people, and the setting was also better. Here, some characters are just walking anime tropes all the time (Looking at you, Mikan and Teruteru), some of the plot elements are way more out there, and the setting is very bright and vibrant, which is fine, I just prefer the tone the original had. That said, the trials in this did feel harder which was very nice, and ignoring how over the top this game could be it's still a very engaging story. The bonus minigame modes were pretty bad, but Magical Miracle Girl Monomi wasn't quite as bad as people were hyping it up to be, which was a nice surprise.

Popular Post Viscera1900
#300 - Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Lionheart "Obtain all trophies" Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Platinum completion time: 36 hours (in game] / 4 days, 10 hours The very first Final Fantasy game I've played and completed 12 years ago. I bought the original version randomly when it was released on PS Store in 2009 and somehow ended up loving it more than I thought. It is also the first JRPG I've played that is not a Pokemon game, so it has a very special place in my heart. When it was released 2 years ago as Remastered version with trophy support; I had planned to make this a milestone and that time is now. This game was my gateway to try out a new genre on Playstation system and it led to many wonderful gaming experiences over the past 12 years and I'm glad to make this as my 300th platinum trophy milestone. Platinum wise it's very easy and can be completed very fast thanks to modifiers that were included in Remastered version. I did use modifiers (3x speed and no encounter mods) a lot when traversing in towns & world map and grinding magic for Junction system. I know this is an infamous game in Final Fantasy series, but I for one enjoyed it a lot and it's my favorite Final Fantasy game. I even bought a replica Squall's ring from official Square Enix's online store few years ago Here's some pictures of that ring I've bought;

Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #94 - Just Cause 4 Rico was Here - Earn all Just Cause 4 Trophies 82,803 Owners - 7,238 Achievers for a percentage of 8.74% (average completion; 13.59%) (100% completed; 1.66%) Enjoyment; 8/10 Difficulty; 4/10 (based on one stunt) Trophies; 3/10 (622 collectibles hahah lmao) Wishing I was back in Panau; 10/10 Real talk for a sec here, lads and lasses; Just Cause 2 is in my top 5 games of the 7th generation of consoles (the other four are Yakuza titles because of course they are). Developed by a handful of Swedes on a shoestring budget and a diet of surströmming, the gameplay loop in that 2010 title was just amazing, with a beautiful southeast Asian setting and 75ish hour Platinum making for an unforgettable experience. For 2010 standards, that grappling hook + parachute combo was Godlike. Years came and passed and as the Swedish devs got to work on Mad Max, the JC franchise was passed off to a newly-founded studio in New York. I always get nervous when a series falls into new hands and was right to approach 2015's Just Cause 3 with trepidation as it was an unmitigated disaster. From a technical perspective - I played it on PC at launch, you had to be there - and an everything-else-perspective because all the magic and soul seemed to have been stripped out. The new game world was dull and washed-out with no interesting biomes beyond the most stereotypical idea of what a mediterranean country would look like, dreamt up by people who had never been to Europe. The story had lost its charm and memeability. And to make up for a dearth of creativity in the way of mission structure, the devs cobbled together an endless amount of awful challenges. I hate Just Cause 3 with a passion. Artist's impression of what you'll spend about 20 hours doing Come 2018 and Just Cause 4 was pushed out the door by the same mushheads that were responsible for JC3. It launched to mixed reactions from fans and the bowl of escargot that passes for the video game press. Uninspired and constantly repeated mission structure, mediocre graphics, overhyped weather gimmicks, and a lack of substance were some of the complaints levied at the latest title, which didn't even make its development budget back at launch. No surprise when, instead of a proper marketing team, you pay the world's worst influencer to make embarassing trailers. So as with all middling, underselling games (and both its predecessors), Just Cause 4 came to PS Plus! I happened to have a one month membership smeared across November and December, so snapped this one up with mixed feelings. Because, again, I hate Just Cause 3 with a passion. But then Just Cause 2 defined a console generation for me. Knowing I wouldn't get the magic back but hoping for something better than JC3, I decided to snap up the expansion pass as it went on sale for 7,50 EUR (because of course the game has unnecessary DLC) and tucked in a few days ago. Do you like non-descript army bases? Good, because you'll have to conquer over 20 of them via constantly repeating objectives! What followed wasn't a massive surprise; Just Cause 4 didn't recapture that Eurojank magic of 2, but I did like it much better than JC3 - probably down to the fantastic sandbox you'll be spending around 40 to 50 hours in on your way to 100% completion. Unfortunately, military bases are the main way of getting to the conclusion of the story, and the mission structure involved in taking them over is absolute pants. Even then, there is still much to like here compared to JC3; the wingsuit handled a little better than it did in 3 and made traversing the world a breeze, cars weren't an absolute nightmare to drive, and series' protagonist Rico Rodriguez acted closer to his moody JC2 self than to the embarassing pastiche he was in 3. The story was okay but perhaps only because there was so little of it; for those who haven't played the series, Rico is a former secret agent specializing in regime change (or whatever euphemism the CIA uses these days to con the masses into doing their bidding) and has come to the South American island nation of Solís to kick a plastic-surgery-addicted dictator in the 'nads. Last time it was personal as JC3 was set in the country where Rico grew up, and this time it's personal again because his father worked on a scary weather-control doomsday weapon for Presidente Kardashian. Following three minutes worth of cutscenes with characters you never grow to care about, Rico semi-accidentally sparks a popular revolt (the CIA agent assigned to my case just paged that term through- thanks Greg!) and leads the Army of Chaos (named so for maximum cringe, I assume) on a rampage across jungles, pampas, deserts, and snowy mountains to make sure big baddie Oscar Espinosa needs an autopsy rather than a lip filler. 'What's wrong with your faaaaaaaaaaace!' - and here you thought I was overdoing the plastic surgery jokes I know some video game hobbyists asks 'why bother putting in a story' but Just Cause 4 proves that this isn't the right approach to take, because the developers really didn't bother. For a game about championing democracy (cheers Greg!), you only see the dictator for a minute at the start and maybe two minutes at the end of the game. And his strong woman second-in-command, coincidentally the cousin of Rico's strongest ally on the island? Same thing, a minute at the start and two minutes at the end (where she does the most basic *spoiler* ever, having suddenly grown *spoiler* despite having funneled hundreds of her men into the meat grinder that is the player's offensive playstyle). At no point does the plot make you really care, which is pretty incredible for such a high stakes scenario. And the writing is utter garbage, with a lot of dialogue so firmly tongue in cheek that the nutters penning the script must have punctured their faces. It's not funny, it's not cool, it's awful. But delivered in small chunks, thankfully. The main gameplay of taking over army bases is broken up every once in a while by two characters who have you performing stunts for an action movie (director Garland King) and exploring ancient ruins to uncover the hidden history of Solís (archaeologist Javi Huerta). Both of them tie into the 622 collectibles in the game, most of which are thankfully marked on the map once you pass close by them but still need to be collected fully before the Platinum is unlocked. Oh, and then there is Luis Sargento. A bumbling fool in charge of training recruits who is completely out of his depth, yet passed off by the game as being sympathetic. I wanted to strangle him every single time he radioed in begging me to do his work in the Army of Cringe for him. Say what you will, this is one beautiful sandbox - runs like a dream on PS5 It may sound like I am being harsh on the game - and I am - but that's because I do care about the series. My initial love turned to disgust and then years of apathy, but ploughing through JC4 really did rekindle my enjoyment of that fantastic grappling hook gameplay. Actually inspired mission design and writers who actually graduated from higher education would have been nice, but the loop of destruction - grapple hook - parachute - wingsuit is just so strong that, when combined with a worthwhile sandbox, it truly compels. Even with all the glitching factored in, because even after multiple years of experience the devs are still carpooling to work in a clown car. Warning; the following is an extremely salty rant about the developers f***ing me out of a high leaderboard position Spoiler One 'issue' in particular really bit me in the ass; I was on course to finish fith(!!!) in the all-time leaderboard for Fastest Achievers on this very site (and that was with a full day break on Friday) but then the developers sprung a nasty surprise on me; if you have the Danger Rising DLC installed, you must finish it to unlock the base game Trophy Fully Stocked for collecting all blueprints. And when I found that out, at 3:30 in the morning as I was ready to pop the Plat, I ragequit and went to bed. There was no way I could beat that awful DLC without sleep first, and I didn't bother unlocking the Platinum until this early morning. I will never not be mad. Check Pinball Dreams in my list to see the timing, if Fully Stocked had popped (it normally would have with '...The Harder They Fall' half an hour earlier) I would have just needed to fast travel to the highest mountain of the game for the last Trophy. So incredibly unfair, and I can only assume this was an oversight on those incompetent developers' part. Maybe one day I will play JC4 again on an alt account, because I am convinced I can beat the currently leading time - 3 days, 19 hours - by at least twelve hours if I apply myself Should you play Just Cause 4? Yes, you should. Despite its shortcomings. But only when you can cop the awful, awful DLC expansion pass for 5 bucks or less (not 7.50 like I did). There is a lot of fun to be had in this one, and the grappling hook alone is worth the price of admission for the base game. Popular Post dieselmanchild
#211 - Game of Thrones First off - this is not the Telltale game most of you are familiar with. This is that long forgotten Atlus RPG released on PS3 that nobody has ever played or heard of. And there are quite possibly good reasons for that lol. I’m guessing the main reason this game flew under the radar is because, well… it’s not exactly the highest quality game out there. The game does have an excellent story however, but it feels like they poured most of their time and resources into that and pretty much phoned in the rest of the experience. In terms of gameplay, this one plays very similar to Dragon Age: Origins, except without nearly as much depth. You usually control one playable character at a time with one playable ally, and earn XP through quests and combat in order to level up your character’s abilities. There’s also a small variety of different kinds of weapons and different stances/skill trees that correspond to certain weapon types. There’s not a whole lot of depth here compared to most RPGs, but there is enough to play with, and frequent enough progression with your armor and weapons upgrades to keep from getting completely bored with that aspect of the game. Combat revolves around strategic planning sort of like DA:O, where you pause to bring up your ability wheel and queue up attacks. Then you just sit back and watch the fight play out. It’s a pretty boring system for most of the game, however it does pick up a little in the second half when you have far more abilities and powers at your disposal, your opponents become a bit tougher, and the element of strategy becomes more important to defeating tougher mobs. The fun is in figuring out the best ability combinations and how to use the right skills to exploit status effects and weaknesses as you manage your character & fighting companion. The graphics and animations are pretty bad and were outdated even for a game in that era so there’s not much to to say there. So I can hear you thinking now - this sounds horrible. Why even bother at all? Well, quite simply, it’s all about the story. As well as making a funny cameo in the game as “Maester Martin” of Castlewood, George R. R. Martin actually worked with the developers and wrote the story for this game. Unlike the much more familiar Game of Thrones narrative adventure made by Telltale Games, the story in this RPG is actually canon, and runs concurrently to the events of the first book/first season of the TV show. There are a handful of characters that fans will recognize from the show, and most of them are voiced by their respective actors, which is really cool! The voice acting overall is by far the strongest aspect of the game, which is a relief since there is a lot of dialogue in the game! The voice actors all did a really great job. The only one who sounds a bit awkward and amateurish is George R. R. Martin. ? The story is centered around playable characters who are both ex-bannermen of House Lannister. The first is a gruff and grizzled old bear named Ser Mors Westford, who has been a member of the Night’s Watch for 15 years after disobeying an order from his liege lord and fleeing to the wall to escape his wrath. He is strong as a bull and has an ironclad moral conviction and sense of duty. The other main character is Alester Sarwyck, the eldest son of Raynald Sarwyck and the heir to Riverspring. He was forced to flee his home after the events of Robert’s Rebellion and has been living in exile in the Free Cities for the past 15 years, where he became a Red Priest of R’hllor the fire god. His story begins with him returning to his castle and lands upon the death of his father, where he of course finds his family and estate in chaos and gets unwittingly pulled back into the ‘game of thrones.’ The trophy list for this one is not too bad, but does have a significant number of missables. There are some parts of this game where it’s crucial to follow a guide or some sort of checklist, so you don’t miss anything before moving on. There is no chapter select, so I’d highly recommend making a save at the start of each chapter just in case you do have to backtrack and fix a mistake. If you’re paying attention though and carefully scouring the map and being mindful of chapter specific trophies and side quests, you can do everything in one playthrough. Overall my thoughts on this one are positive. Despite its flaws, I enjoyed the story very much and it was a pleasure to be thrust once again into the political intrigues of Westeros. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend people run out and buy this one, as I think many players would not enjoy it so much. But for people like myself who are big fans of the books and TV shows, this one is well worth hunting down a copy to experience the story and characters! ?

Popular Post MissShake
#63: Mass Effect 3 N7 Elite ME3: Acquire all trophies Here I am again, coming at ya with another Mass Effect gushing session. When this game first came out I was honestly obsessed with it. I especially remember crying tears of frustration at the ending; since I played it at launch I didn't get to see the Extended Cut, which is at least a little better than the nothing the original version had. In the end the Mass Effect series is about the journey. It's been really interesting to see how my tastes have changed: my favorite characters were all romance options when the series first came out, but now I care way more about characters like Mordin, characters that have amazing writing and present interesting moral choices. The third game may have a less than satisfying ending, but the game itself is quite fun. I think it has some of the best moments in the series, it wraps up so many loose ends beautifully. I'd say it's probably my second favorite game in the series, right after ME2. I can still vividly remember the Xbox users I played multiplayer with nightly when the game first came out, I still think about them every once in a while. I hope they're well. Popular Post Redgrave
#212: Original Sinner - Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition A CRPG that I remember looking into around the time it came out but I didn't have anyone to play it with at the time. Now that I have played it and got the Platinum in it (technically played twice since trophies aren't shared in co-op unfortunately) I think I can say it was a good RPG experience. This one seems to be overshadowed by the sequel which I assume is because it improves on a lot of things but when trying to look up just about anything for the first game you mostly get information about the second game which is a shame because the first one is good even if kind of buggy at times, but it also made looking up any useful information more difficult. That said, it's pretty cool with all the stuff you can get away with in this. Like if you cast invisibility on yourself and steal items you won't get caught and no one will hate you. Then after stealing stuff you can sell those items and get money from it. It's a bit shady but it's considered a way to get money ? You can also put a ton of barrels and crates in a chest and the damage will be based on how much the chest weighs if you throw it using telekinesis. It's a game that rewards you for thinking outside the box which is really neat. Trophy-wise you do have to follow a guide pretty closely or else you will miss something, and on top of that there is a "you die your save is deleted" kind of trophy but you can get around that with cloud saves thankfully. There is also a difficulty trophy but if you use the fan-named Barrelmancy by using a chest full of barrels and crates mentioned above, most fights aren't an issue as long as you aren't fighting inside an area that is considered an interior because apparently being inside an interior determines whether or not a 2,000 pound chest being dropped on someone can hurt them or not for some reason. The only other thing is some of the missable trophies can be kind of vague on how you get them and a couple of them unlock near the end of the game so if you miss them then it's a 40+ hour journey again but thankfully that didn't happen. Otherwise the list isn't anything too bad with I think the real challenge just making sure you don't miss the missable trophies. And thanks to @Undead Wolf for playing with me and figuratively carrying me around since I couldn't move because of the chest I had to carry. ? May we find more wares and gold to pillage from unsuspecting people while selling them those same wares in Divinity: Original Sin 2: The Search for More Money!
