Games and NetherRealm Studios have officially revealed that a rebooted Mortal Kombat 1 will arrive on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC Following an earnings call tease earlier this year, Warner Bros. Discovery and NeatherRealm announced Mortal Kombat 1 officially on its website and released a reveal trailer on YouTube. "Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest title in the acclaimed Mortal Kombat videogame franchise developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios," reads a post on the website. "The game will introduce a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang, featuring reimagined versions of iconic characters as they’ve never been seen before, along with a new fighting system, game modes, bone krushing finishing moves, and more." These characters so far include Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and many more. NetherRealm has so far confirmed these characters to feature in a new Story Mode but is yet to reveal which other game modes will feature in Mortal Kombat 1. Preordering a $109.99 Premium, Edition will get players early access beginning on September 14 alongside 1,250 Dragon Krystals (the in-game currency), the Kombat Pack which includes a Johnny Cage skin styled after Jean-Claude Van Damme, early access to six new playable characters, and five new Kameo Fighters. These are a new roster of characters that assist the player during matches, and are chosen from a unique roster separate to the main Mortal Kombat 1 characters. A $249.99 Kollector's Edition will be available too for just PS5 and Xbox Series and includes all Premium Edition content plus a 16.5 inch Liu Kang sculpture, three exclusive art prints, a steel case, and 1,450 additional Dragon Krystals. What the hell was that rolling turd MK11? It was one of the least inspiring fighting games I've played in the last decade next to SF5. NRS must be pissed right now that WB leaked their own game before even announcing it publicly. Don't get wrong though, I'm hyped for more mortal kombat. The footage in today's State of Play was terrible. But I'm stoked for Mortal Kombat! I'll wait for a Gold Edition this time, but I'll definitely play it. If anybody has been following them for teh pass years we all know it goes mk,ij,mk,ij,mk so the next game would be Injustice!??!?!? If this is not the case why are they changing it makes no sense? Because Nether Realm were advertising for people with knowledge of PS3 & 360 dev tools and Ed Boon said something about "9" on Twitter. For those wondering why this game is coming to the Switch but not PS4/Xbox One, the PS5/Xbox Series X|S version is developed by NetherRealm while the Switch version is developed by Saber Interactive. Viper Posted May 18, 2023 Share Posted May 18, 2023 Not sure what to think...I haven't played Mortal Kombat since 9 and I was absolutely terrible at that game. I bought Mortal Kombat XL years ago and never played it, and have been really close to buying 11, for no reason at all. But I grew up on this franchise so I've always loved it...I just suck at it now (kid me would be ashamed). So I don't really know if this reboot story is still in tandem with the story of the previous games or not...but it just seems strange that Liu Kang is the god now instead of Raiden? Plus the naming...Mortal Kombat 1 is pretty bad. I can only assume that maybe it's referring to it being the first Mortal Kombat tournament under Liu Kang's Universe?
