Popular Post JoaLoft
#228 - Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon After The Last of Us Part II, I figured I could use something with a nice change of scenery and pace. I still had one more Spyro game to beat from the Reignited trilogy, so that's the one I went for, which I just completed! Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon follows the same formula of the other two games: villain pops up, stirs up shit and it's up to Spyro to visit worlds in bigger hubs, collect gems and free the dragons from their torment, while also giving the villain a serious beating. Although, I did notice some differences. The cons: In the first Spyro game, you had to rescue dragons, which all had unique and beautiful animations. In this final game, you're saving dragon eggs which hatch once you acquire them. The hatching animations are mostly the same (there are about ten in total, maybe?), and you'll be seeing the same ones return a lot. I would've preferred if they actually had unique animations for every one, giving each baby dragon some character and personality, like the dragons had. And the races in this game can be frustrating while you're trying to nail tricks and gain fuel for your boost meter. The pros: Speedway worlds have become MUCH easier (thank you God!). Secondary characters get a more active role in this last game: Sparx, Hunter, Bentley the Yeti, Sheila the Kangaroo, Sgt. James Byrd and Agent 9 all play a smaller role in the story and the gameplay, where you actually get to play as them and sometimes even partake in a few fun minigames. Especially Hunter taking initiative in this story was a great creative decision; in the second game, he felt like the bumbling buffoon who didn't wan't/couldn't do anything against Ripto. And this deserves a special mention: kicking Moneybags' ass in the end was oh so satisfying. Seeing those other playable characters put him in his place when you free them, was a joy to behold. But chasing him down yourself at the end and roasting his greedy fat bear butt cheeks forever? LOVE IT. ❤️ Very important to note: after you get the platinum trophy, the game is not over yet. I recommend collecting all the gems and dragon eggs in the game, so you can visit the Super Bonus Round world for some satisfying gem looting and one final boss fight to settle matters once and for all - the duel with the sorceress in the last hub is not the end! I don't just play for trophies, I want to get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of my games. So I wanted to see the whole game through to the end after the platinum trophy popped, and I'm glad I did. That all being said: I can finally put the Spyro Reignited trilogy to bed! Recommended, they're charming light platformers which deserve to be played at some point. Most frustrating trophy - Twin Dragon Destruction As with the previous two trophy lists of the Spyro games, this one is also a cakewalk, generally speaking. The one trophy that provided a slight challenge, was the "Twin Dragon Destruction" trophy, requiring you to beat two flying dragon serpents at once, in one of the later worlds. Wouldn't be such a big issue, except their health regenerates and you can only take three or four hits without healing before you pass out. I don't believe i had to retry, but I did need to get into the swing of things and pick up a few butterflies for Sparx along the way. It's important to recognize their pattern and try to cut corners when you spam a barrage of fireballs at them. Once you get a feel for the boss battle, it's easy to beat, so no really big challenge to speak of. On a sidenote: interestingly, the platinum trophy is called "Party Like It's 2024", which could refer to two things. 2024 is the first upcoming Dragon Year in the Chinese Zodiac, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is a sneaky hint to a brand-new Spyro game coming out then. Toys For Bob is releasing a completely new Crash Bandicoot game this year, so it is very much a possibility!
Popular Post B1rvine
Legend of the West Red Dead Redemption 2 Milestone #9000. The single player campaign started off shaky, throwing so many options, menus, and indicators I felt overwhelmed, but it’s definitely one of the better open world experiences. The online wasn’t as horrible as I thought it would be, but I do think lower leveled newer players were imbalanced in competitive PvP modes. All in all, definitely worth the experience. Popular Post madbuk
#380 - Riptide GP2 Going into this I had heard some very mixed things. I know people who like it, and I know people who strongly dislike it, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was incredibly cheap though in a recent sale (about £3 for a bundle of 3 racing games including this one) so I figured I'd give it a shot. Jetski racing is very different to the racing games I usually play so I figured it'd be something fresh. Honestly, for a budget racing game, it's actually quite fun. The balancing is a little wacky, jumping from hard to very easy then back to hard frequently, there was no point where the difficulty scaling felt natural. It's still nothing overly hard - it's a 40% plat after all - but some event were a noticeable step up compared to others. Hot laps events were the most fun overall I'd say, followed by elimination, then racing, then freestyle. Freestyle events were just dull. The fact that this is a mobile port was unfortunately pretty noticeable, as the pricing for upgrades and new jetskis seemed a bit steep and I would assume that is because money was a microtransaction on mobile. It's not too bad because there are easy ways of farming money but it's still a bit unfortunate (and as a side note, I dread to think how freestyle tricks must've controlled on mobile lol.) For a mobile game it still looked great though. I think the water was an interesting change of pace compared to normal racing games but it also was just a bit annoying because fairly frequently after a jump you'd splash in the water and lose all momentum as a result, and it felt like it was RNG because of the way water in general works - sometimes there are just waves and you unfortunately happen to hit them at the wrong time. It was realistic, I'll give it that, and something fresh, but idk if I'd say it was a fun mechanic. I enjoyed my time with this, and the price I got it at (and it frequently goes on sale for) is an absolute steal. I'm excited to play the next one but it likely wont be any time soon. I also got Beach Buggy Racing as part of the bundle and it'll be interesting to see how that compares at some point as well.
Popular Post Mayellie
#26 - Cat Quest II Pawlatinum You are pawsome! Meowzah! Where do I start with Cat Quest 2? There’s so much I love about it that there’s a million things running in my mind! Do I talk about its fun, bright atmewsphere? How about that it’s a great, easy game to play in between serious titles as a refreshmewnt? Or... (and here’s the best part) how about that you play as a freaking CAT?! Yep, in Cat Quest 2, you play as a cat (and a dog, more on that later). You live in a fictional () world where everyone is a cat! With cat puns in literally every sentence spoken by characters, it’s hard not to giggle. It’s a short, open-world RPG of two kingdoms that seem to have been at war for an eternity: Felingard (the feline empire) and the Lupus Kingdom (you guessed it, the dog kingdom), each ruled by King Lioner and King Wolfen the Labrathor, respectively. Much like its predecessor, Cat Quest 2 is a charming game with its cute aesthetics, cheesy but cheerful music, enjoyable side quests, vibrant world, and cat + dog puns galore! This time around, you get to also explore the Lupus Kingdom. As a result, the sequel is a bit longer than the first. I reaaally enjoyed Cat Quest 1, which I accidentally discovered while demo-surfing the PS Store. I like to call it “Skyrim (because the boss fights are dragons), but short, easy, and full of Khajiit” because that’s really what it’s like. So I knew I needed to get Cat Quest 2 eventually. With the addition of local coop mode (I used Shareplay’s Play Together feature to make it online), everything’s double the fun! Your pawtner, player #2, takes the role of their ruffingness, a dog, while you play as your meowjesty, a cat. Thanks to @ImmortalFox- for lending me a paw! Together, you’re tasked with ending the war through purroving to both species that cats and dogs can, in fact, live in harmony. Gameplay mechanics are easy to get the hang of. Simply level up through gaining XP by defeating monsters, and completing dungeons and side quests. Use earned gold to upgrade your gear and spells. Trophies: No missables. You’ll get nearly all naturally through story progression, and most are easy. You’ll have to go out of your way a bit to clear all 73 dungeons, since some of their bosses are slightly challenging and high levelled. Complete all 67 side quests (which are very fun, so I’d do them anyway even if there was no trophy). Obtain all 101 pieces of equipment is one you’ll also have to go a bit out of your way for because some are in golden chests, which are sometimes tricky to find. There’s more, but trophies are easy and fun to complete, so you can let your hair down without having nightmares about a trophy list for once... Purrsonally, I love the heck out of this franchise. Some of the witty puns really deserve to be mentioned. Characters named Barkthan Drayke the Treasure Hunter (whom you help retrieve treasure), Doge Knight the Hero who lives in a Bat Cove (complete with him singing his nananana theme), Pawdon Rufsey the Chef, Hotto Doggo whom you visit to upgrade your hotdog (that’s what he insists on calling weapons), Kit Cat the Armorer, an entire quest line about finding (and saving) Purrivate Mewan, and that’s just off the top of my head! The developers also poke fun at how lighthearted the game is, and add themselves as quest-giving cats in the game. One of the quests is a “glitch”, so you have to repeat it twice, and the cat developers show up to apologize. I thought that was fun! Overall, I can defurnitely recommend Cat Quest 2 to anyone. It’s a super fun game that I had a blast playing. Sometimes, you start to feel like you have to purrsevere through games because you’re getting so burnt out, and Cat Quest 2 is a breath of fresh air. I needed something light after playing through The Last of Us Part 2’s heavy story, so I went for Cat Quest 2. It’s impawssible to dislike, and I’ve pawready purlanned to purrchase Cat Quest 3 when it purrleases. It’s a pawsome and ameowzing franchise that I can’t wait to see more of. Until then, I’ll pounce on to other games while I eagerly wait for more! (P.S. Recently bought during the MP Sale. If it's off the sale now, it's worth picking up next time!) Difficulty: 4/10 (some dungeons are challenging, but doable if you upgrade your gear and spells) Enjoyment: 10/10 Time: 18 hours. Defurnitely recommend! Popular Post DesmaBR
Platinum #119 Platinum Unlock all trophies Sorry if I "offend" any Ducati fans out there, but this game was boring as shit. Apparently this was supposed to be DLC to a Ride game, and I can definitely see that. This would be perfectly fine as DLC, but as a full game, there's barely any content here. Which would be fine, I got it for cheap after all. But god, they make you do so, so many races. It's not fun. Ducati, if you're reading this, DON'T invite me for your 100th anniversary, because I'M NOT GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Popular Post erickt123
#59 - Jak 3 (PS3) Don't know why it took me so long to get around to Jak 3 in the HD collection for the PS3, but I did. Overall, I enjoyed Jak 3 but it definitely has pacing issues and it has some not so good variety in objectives. There were some missions that just end too quick or last longer than I would have liked, one being a turret section that is a minigame only to become like a mission you do later on. Another has you on-rails shooting from a cruiser defending one of your allies and I wish I was flying the thing instead. Pacing is also a problem with these missions, especially the third act where the game kind of just rushes itself and ends very quick. This sucks because I liked Jak 2 a lot with its pacing and to see Jak 3 suffer a bit with this is pretty disappointing. However, Jak 3 improved the open world gameplay quite a bit and I like how you go through a battlefield in Haven City that you can partake in or ignore as you go to new objectives. I like this open world structure much more than Jak 2 with all the civilians and guards that can cause unwanted chases. Overall, I enjoyed Jak 3 and even with its problems, I'd say it's still a good game and worth checking out.

Popular Post DamagingRob
#465- Tales of Zestiria Master of Zestiria This is proof that you've obtained all trophies. We're thrilled you like the game so much, and we hope to meet you again in future titles! Well, it all started here: KYC Day One & Final Review. And it stayed fairly enjoyable... until I hit the post game. I liked the story/characters, game didn't seem too difficult, some great tunes (if the opening doesn't get you hyped, I don't know what's wrong with you ) and it didn't feel any worse than any other Tales of game I'd played. Unfortunately, if you want the Plat, the enjoyment drops off big time once you beat it. :/ Grade farming in this one is a really dumb thing. Instead of getting grade for fights, you get it for leveling up Lords of the Land. This requires a stupid amount of money, farming said money, and then having to buy and give them items. Which also means running back and forth, into and out of buildings, to go to shops and save points. It's painful and boring. Then you play through the game again (unless you try to do it all in one run), and that's not too bad. It goes pretty quick when you're skipping cutscenes, and carrying over a bunch of stuff that makes you overpowered. I recommend doing it, because what you'll have to do next (to beat the final boss on Chaos difficulty, beat his more powerful form, and get through the post game dungeon) is not going to be fun without double Normin. Normin are these creatures in the game that add a skill to a weapon/armor of your choice when you find them. But they only do it once, and then you can set them to an area, increasing the odds of finding that skill on weapons you find there. You need a specific skill on a lot of your equipment to make a number of fights so much easier. With double Normin, you'll get more of the skill on every weapon/armor drop. By the time I actually found enough Lindworm rings to make one with the skill in all four slots, I had tons of equipment with the skill. Without it, I might have been farming longer just to survive those tough fights. You also need to get the same skill 16 times on one character's equipment for a trophy, so it will also help with that. So yeah, pretty good game brought down a lot by horrible trophies. Surprised a bit by my total playtime, which was a little over 75 hours. Felt sooooo much longer. :/ Not helped by lack of motivation, I suppose. And some time might not be accounted for from Game Overs, and using other saves for a few things. Platinum image: Spoiler ^That was so not worth saving the trophy for. Lol. Was expecting something like this: Spoiler Xillia 2 fans represent. But no.. just an ugly background. Besides being sexy, that DLC outfit on Rose also changes the battle music to this: Spoiler I love it. Makes me think I should really give God Eater a try.. Bought the PSP version for the Vita and again on PS4, still haven't played it..

Popular Post StewartBros
159 SAINTS ROW IV: RE-ELECTED Kingpin Unlock all Trophies in Saints Row IV: Re-elected. Time to Platinum: 2 years, 5 months I started SR4 in early 2018 to get the Saintified trophy done before the Steelport servers closed, and then, despite meaning to finish the game later on, I kept putting it off in favour of other games. But I'm now attempting to clean up a bunch of unearned trophies before I add any new games to my profile, and SR4 was one of the first games I decided to tackle. So. I had a lot of fun with this game, just like I did with #3 (which I will also buy the remastered version of). It doesn't take itself seriously at all, which is just what you want from a game sometimes - a chance to just play some good old-fashioned nonsense... with baseball bats shaped like gigantic sex toys. Ahem. I did get hit by the Where's My Cape glitch, though - I must have maxed out one or two powers early on, before becoming aware of the glitch. So that meant I had to start a second playthrough and play the story up to the Kinzie Gambit mission, and do all side missions, a bunch of Challenges, and collect 1,000+ Clusters ALL OVER AGAIN. Thankfully though, it didn't take too long as I just stormed through it all, only upgrading the Super Jump and Wall Run abilities so I could reach Clusters, and this time it popped as soon as I bought the final upgrade. The two DLCs were quick and easy - I especially liked the Christmas-themed one. Only took a few hours to do each DLC set. Overall, despite having to do a second playthrough to get one glitched trophy, I really had fun with SR4. I have Gat Out Of Hell and SR3 Remastered (once I buy it) to get through as well. Bring on Saints Row V!

Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum 534: The LEGO Movie Videogame (Vita) Difficulty: 2.5/10 Playtime: 10-15 hours Enjoyment: 6/10 Y'know, I wasn't really planning on doing this one at all, seeing as how it's built on the same "short levels that you have to replay endlessly" formula as the LEGO Marvel Vita game, which I didn't enjoy all that much at all. I was actually planning to do the Vita Hobbit game, but current global events has left me very reticent towards making international orders, not at all helped by two cases of (thankfully cheap) orders that have just disappeared into oblivion for at least a month now. But a friend owned a cart, and I still have my lifetime goal of 100 Vita games to consider, so... here we are. Consider this a review of LEGO Marvel as well, as aside from the IP there is little difference. What is there to say? Very little of the innately repetitive yet strangely hypnotic charm of the full fat LEGO games is to be found in this uninspired and thoughtless new gameplay model. It seems made for small bursts of gameplay on a smartphone or whatever, and I may well be right about that. There's a pitiably small variety of various goals for each stage, which I tired of within the first third. Rare is the level that doesn't require two free playthroughs at the least. This, predictably, nullifies the sense of rapidfire accomplishment such short levels would usually bring. Moreover, it is just a lazy and anemic interpretation of the source material that makes TLMVG2 look comparatively Oscar-worthy. Once the brief movie-sourced cutscenes stop playing, the game's charm dials down to nearly below zero. The lack of dialogue is a mere crutch; as you will remember, the earlier LEGO games lived and died by mumbles and mimes, and made it work. Apart from the odd cute interpretation of (or deviation from) movie events, it is a dry experience made all the worse by the particular style of madcap trappings that suffuse its progenitor. Even as a forgiving LEGO Gamer who has sat through some of their lesser offerings (hellooooooo, LEGO Star Wars III!), I can't really recommend this. It becomes a dull slog just an hour or two after the story is completed, and is never able to get back on track. Summarily, it's very hard to find ANYTHING that's awesome about this. Edited July 23, 2020 by AK-1138 Forgot the trophy graphic thingy.
Popular Post Redgrave
#188: Director of the FBC - Control I bought this a while back and originally intended to play it when all the DLC came out but I decided to play it and hoped to Platinum it before Ghost of Tsushima came out last week but I only got to beat the story and so I just decided to clean up anyway. I'll worry about the 100% later when the other DLC comes out. That said, I feel kind of mixed on the game but I'm more positive on it. It's a fine game and I really like the secret supernatural government stuff the game's story has and the powers can be cool to use. I did feel kind of confused on the story though. Some things were explained but there were others that weren't and I get that might be what they were going for but I feel like there could have been more to it. I think the things that keep me from really liking it though is that the game has some difficulty spikes at some points and I think it could have used a proper checkpoint system or a difficulty selection. I know I'm not the only one to think this either, but there are a couple bosses in both the main and side-missions that can just kill you really quickly and you might not even see why, but it also means that you have to run back to the boss room from basically the game's equivalent of a bonfire after a loading screen. Probably the worst of this was the refrigerator boss fight (it makes some sense in context ) where it can make instant-death holes in the ground and because you're focusing on the boss you might not see the holes and so you fall through and die meaning a loading screen and having to run back to it when a simple "Retry from boss fight" option would have sufficed. This can apply to other ones too, especially the one known as Mold 1 where you have to run past enemies that can damage you on the way. The only other thing is I wish there was more to explore than an extra-dimensional building (there are a couple more but I won't spoil anything) both from a gameplay and story perspective. For gameplay and I guess it's just me but I got tired of seeing the same grey, black, and white walls in an office setting or the pipes and metal walls of other areas. For story purposes there's a lot of cool world building and so I think it would have been neat to be able to go out and face the supernatural monsters in an urban setting or something. Or go out to a neighborhood where a family says they see ghosts and stuff and you have to cover it up. I just feel like there's a lot of cool things you could do with this setting than have it just be in an extra-dimensional building, so if they ever do make a sequel I hope there is more to explore and interact with the world and see the whole process the FBC does to cover up the weird objects and things like that.

If you want my opinion on Monster Jam: Battlegrounds you can read my status update since I can't be bothered to write another wall of text. Was a PlayStation Plus title back in late 2017. Easy platinum, short game, but rather frustrating. The Forest Precision level in Stunt Mode took me a solid 40 - 50 minutes to nail down. Pretty easy levels overall but a couple stunt levels are a bit difficult. If it weren't for the easy platinum, the excitement rating would be even lower. Can't recommend. Popular Post DesmaBR
Platinum #120 The Phenomenal Phantom Thief Obtained all trophies. Not gonna lie, I've always been a bit skeptical of these updated version of Atlus games, because I never felt like they matched up to their original versions. "The Answer" in P3 FES was a disgrace, but if you just play "The Journey" it's perfectly fine P3 Portable is quite impressive for a PSP port, but wouldn't trade it over the original I'm one of those weird people that prefer the original Persona 4 instead of Golden Catherine: Full Body having the complete vanilla game playable, while really cool, kinda sends me mixed signals And don't even get me started on their 3DS ports, where they just shat on the art style of the original games. But y'know... they did good with this one. Maybe it's because it came so close to the original game (Bit wack charging full $60 for an updated version of a game on a console I could just play the original game, but whatever), but I feel like the changes they made where mostly for the best. Even the new semester, which I was a bit worried because I really love the original game ending, was somehow really well handled; the way they managed to fit it in without losing the original game ending was quite the sigh. And this is from the people who came up with Marie lol. There's definitely some changes I don't agree with, but overall, I'd definitely recommend this version over the original, unless you really want a harder platinum trophy. ... Or you want Ryuji saying that he was a phantom thief out loud every 5 minutes. Now that I think about it, that was definitely done for a reason. Anyways, since the game blocks sharing, I though I'd share this particular shot from the new semester, because it's a really cool shot. Took it my capture card. With 3 playtroughts along the way , playing on Grounded was a great experience to make it all stealth-based and resourceful management to the bone. The plat journey for TloU was a memorable one in my book and it got even more in love with the first game as ever.
