Popular Post Phoenix_argentea
Platinum trophies Nos. 243 & 244! I didn't write here for two months, so I'll simply skip the posts about Sonic Colours and the two Darksiders games. Neptunia X Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars (EU) Nep Nep! Ultimate Ninja Master! Finally a good Neptunia spin off. The action combat system is quite good and fluid (with minor issues, like no invincibility frames during the skills activation), the same for the story, and the post-game challenges are tough, so you need to grind HP, attack and defense Spirit Gems in order to overcome them. Too bad that there are only 10 dungeons, and 10 characters (yes, no CPUs sisters) and the sidequests are boring and repetitive (but this is not a surprise) The censorship is quite stupid, especially the one on the game cover What else? Platinum screenshot with my favourite CPU! Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales Be yourself A perfect game during these Christmas days. It's quite similar to the main game, with a few improvements, like no more crimes grinding (thank you!), less collectibles and sidequests more serious (and yes, there's again a pigeon sidequest!). The story was quite good, but I completely forgot about it because, when I reached the mid point of game, I did all the sidequests and collectibles, and, when I went back to the main quest, I didn't remember anything about the story! And I'm not a fan of the NG+ runs, and here you have to do a second run in order to clear again the story, but also in order to unlock all the skills. And a very good platinum screenshot in these winter days!
Popular Post Viscera1900
#327 - Returnal Helios "Collect all trophies" Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Completion time: 58 hours / 2 weeks, 2 days, 14 hours Probably my final platinum trophy for 2021 and ending it with a bang. I absolutely have no clue what's happening in Returnal's story and the ending was confusing as Santa's buttcheeks. Most of Returnal's enjoyment points comes from its gameplay; It has very fun and addicting action heavy gameplay. Visually it's very gorgeous looking game, although it has lots of dark environments. Trophy wise it's very simple list to complete, but it was surprisingly time consuming thanks to the collectibles. The game also offers decent amount of challenge, since completing its story is no easy task. Although unnecessarily time consuming game to complete even with the latest patch; It's one of the finest PS5 exclusive game and I do recommend it to those who love action/ 3rd person shooter games that's also kinda challenging to beat. Popular Post TomataEighty9
PGA Tour 2K21 TOUR ProEarn all Trophies. Fun = 9/10 - I had a wonderful time with this. The only reason it doesn't get a 10, is because the last grindy trophy got a liiitle tedious in the end. If it had been 3/4 of the length, it would've been perfect. Difficulty = 2/10 - It's not "my name is mayo", so not a 1, but the only "hard" trophy was sinking a swing from a bunker, since it's very luck based. One of the best surprises of the year for me Free with ps+, and i had a lot of fun. Sinking a hole in one doesn't get old!
Popular Post RedRodriguez87
PS4 #356: Does Everything a Spider Can! ANOTHER PS3/PS4 combo complete! And just like the PS3 version, not hard, at worst annoying. Second time through, and my thought are the same; not bad, admirable in what it tries to fix, but in the end still not very good. Every step forward the game took, it also took a step backwards. I guess the one thing I would add is that it's clear to see the initial system Beenox created for the first Amazing was never to have a lot of player input; it was meant to be simple and stylish. The attempts to make it more involved just create a slight clusterfuck of what works and what doesn't. #357: Friends Forever I said I'd do it, and I did. It's Peppa Pig after all; you either know her from the show and consider it an embarrassment, or like me know her from the internet and consider it an honor. YOU decide what's right for you. #358: Big Fantastic Achievement Kicking myself for not making this one a milestone, but heck, none of my Sonic platinums were, so no big whoop right? I said in a status post, while the hype of it being a Remaster was ruined with its botched execution, with questionable and downright baffling changes made (there was no need whatsoever to change the music to suck that much), the fun game of yesterday is still here. And, as someone who had only beaten it years ago when it came out and just now 100% for the first time, I had a lot of fun with it, and will consider it to be up there with Generations in terms of "Modern Sonic Games That Are Genuinely Worth Defending As Good" instead of "Sonic Games I Like Warts and All".
Popular Post Cmndr_Yoshi
Platinum #139 - deBlob Rarity - 6.83 % Man, I love this game (and its sequel). Blob's controls can be a little wonky at times, and a couple levels are tricky to find everything on, but it's an overall good time with a slight bit of challenge sprinkled in.
Popular Post Redgrave
#235: You've Only Done Everything - Astro's Playroom First game played and first Platinum on PS5. It's basically a tech demo but I thought it had a nice charm to it anyway with there being a bunch of references to PlayStation games and seeing all the "artifacts" that were the previous consoles and accessories. It was also cool with all the haptic feedback stuff that the game used for the controller. Probably my favorite moment was sliding on the ice in the ice level since it sounded and felt pretty crispy ? But it was really cool with the monkey and rocket suits with how they would change the tension on the triggers so it makes me look forward to playing an FPS game that takes advantage of that along with other games that hopefully do. I also just like Astro since he's a cute little fella that makes a good mascot ? #236: Power Couple - It Takes Two Since this was made by the same people as A Way Out I knew to expect a good time but I think they outdid themselves with this one since there was a lot of variety to the chapters and the puzzles were really creative. The story was also enjoyable since it's about two parents that want to divorce but because of a magic book and their daughter's tears they get their minds placed into dolls made by her and they have to find a way to get back in their bodies. It's a simple premise but the way the game handles it still felt unique and the main characters along with the Book of Love which is named Dr. Hakim really brought life into it. Every time Dr. Hakim showed up he would basically steal the scenes ? Like mentioned before every level felt fresh since there's a a lot of variety to the levels and they both have different gimmicks for both characters to solve the puzzles with each level having their own theme which always felt like a new experience. There were also a lot of moments where I would just say "Whoa that's cool" in every level ? It was just a really nice experience overall and the ending was nice. In case of spoilers I'll put a spoiler tag since I guess the game is still sort of new. Spoiler Before playing I saw that journalists from Kotaku and such didn't like the game because they had a problem with the ending where the parents decide to get back together. When I first saw this I thought "How typical, they don't like a happy ending" but seeing the full context I feel like the implications was more than that. By the end of the game the daughter starts to blame herself for the reason of her parents divorcing to the point where she wants to run away from home thinking that without her they will be happier together. In the end they get back together telling her that it's not her fault and they decide to work things out. It's a nice and wholesome ending, but the fact that people had a problem with it really boggles my mind. It sounds like they actually wanted them to divorce which would leave the daughter depressed and thinking she's a bad person. Not to mention that parents that consider divorce totally can work it out depending on why they want to. In the context of It Takes Two the reasons for them wanting to divorce was because they were tired of each other and lost the passion in their marriage. It wasn't like one of them was abusive or anything to where they genuinely hated one another, so it really makes me wonder why people would have such a disdainful reaction to the ending where they decide to work things out and that they have something between them. But I guess like the saying goes, shitty people just like to see others as miserable as they are. How dare a married couple work out their problems and not leave their children depressed and confused at an age where they can't even understand these things! ? So yeah, a really enjoyable game with a fun co-op experience which I would like to thank @Undead Wolf for playing with me ?

Popular Post Cellcrash1991
#59: Chernobylite Chernobylite Communion Earn every trophy Since I'm interested in everything Chernobyl-related (I liked the mini-series and I definitely want to travel to the exclusion myself someday) I was pretty excited when this game got announced. The game is an interesting view about how the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster could be. They've created a great atmosphere and a pretty good story and however some parts of the game gave me thrills I feel like the game could've used more action. The gameplay itself is ok but I missed several options such as sensitivity. Your turning circle is extremely slow, which is troublesome when walking stairs, for example. I've also experienced a broken save file, which is a known issue. Therefore I decided not to play the game anymore until they had a fix. So 2 months and 2 updates later I gave it another go. Near the end of the game I've had 3 times a corrupted game screen with a forced shutdown as a result. But the save file was still usable after reboot so no harm done. Trophywise it's straightforward: you get the platinum pretty much for just completing the game. It's certainly not an A-title (but so is the price) but I enjoyed it, despite the bugs
RoastedPeanut
#176 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Finally got around to picking this up for half price as part of the current PSN sale. It was nice to jump back into Miracle World after soooooo many years. Much like the Wonder Boy 3 remake, they did an awesome job with the art style of this remake. It's cool being able to switch between the classic audio and visuals on the fly with a press of R2, but I was really impressed with the new visuals that I barely bothered. There are a couple of new levels added into this that weren't present in the original game, but even with the extra levels the game can still be finished in under an hour if you're rather handy with platformers. I found the jumping to be a little rough at times, but overall it's a really fun game for those wanting a nostalgia kick or for anyone that never played the original.

Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #223 Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Be Greater Collect all Trophies i went a whole year without a platinum, lol. At least I got one in the year of 2021. Sony’s censorship nonsense, and just general apathy toward Japanese developers shifted me a lot to PC. I’ve repurchased a lot of my library there, especially Vita stuff. There was no reason for this to be “remastered”, let alone charge us for it. This version was far glitchier than the original on PS4 too. Good thing they spent all that time on making Peter look like a child and ruining the cutscenes with his face, especially the mentorship of Miles who now looks older than Peter. But hey, now we have legally distinct Tom Holland in the games! Woohoo. (Seriously look at the noses, they found the closest they could get without paying Tom Holland for his likeness) Game would often display stuff on the map which wasn’t unlocked yet (like challenges), it would glitch menus a lot actually. I had to close the game to fix it. It was just not as smooth as PS4 for me. It looked and felt real nice in performance mode though. story is great but I still hold to Sable being garbage in the main game. I remember liking the dlc with her, but those are trash dlcs as a whole imo. I’ll get around to those later (more screwball noooo). Back to Sable Spoiler She just shows up, beats Peter’s ass with zero effort and is unreasonable every scene. Until the very end where she also beats Peter’s ass days something to the effect of, “you’ve been interfering and hurting my men, why shouldn’t I kill you right now?” And she doesn’t because plot. Then after she cares if you die? Why? With the dlc making you fight TOGETHER at one point (or more, been awhile) you get to see Spidey and Sable interact and see her drop her bitch with a capital C attitude for a second so it would make sense for her to let Spidey go in the end and to care if he died, but the dlc is after the main game. So… it doesn’t help this trash. If they wanted her to be turbo bitch we should’ve fought her there and beat her, earning her respect and trust to defend her client. of course why these morons ever fought Spidey I don’t know, ultimately they were on the same side in terms of each firefight. Ultimate goals may conflict but there was never a reason for them to fight Spider-Man while he’s fighting other criminals. Just let him do it, or help him do it and then fight him. Make it make sense, it doesn’t, it’s stupid. it just sucks because the rest of the game’s story is so excellent and all they had to do were small tweaks to make her work. But no. And the Miles thing is still really contrived and stupid to me. Spoiler I get you wanted him to get powers, but a spider just riding on MJ that whole time? It didn’t get crushed or fall off when she shook to get it off or when she jumped off a building and was caught by Peter? Or being in Feast for how long? Or anywhere else she went? you couldn’t just have Miles find the dumb spider himself? All this instead? But that one is put too bad to just give them. It would just be nice if it was done in a less convenient way. I stand by saying the game itself is overrated. The story, largely, deserves the praise despite flaws. Gameplay however has so much filler and repetitive bullshit. The side content is a chore. If I remember right the dlc added a few more varieties of crimes or side missions which was a nice change of pace, but should’ve just been interwoven into the main game instead of having so much of the game just be “beat people up, okay now some more!” the bases suck. After wave 1 you have to fight, so they’re all the same. Having it to where you had to sneak in a base and find some data or hack something and get out without fighting or touching anyone would have been change of pace. But no. it just got really annoying when Sable came around since some of them take a lot of combos to die and they always bring more reenforcements to make it more annoying, and too many boring car chases. it was overall fun to replay again though. Just kind of a ripoff it wasn’t a free upgrade.

Popular Post MarcusPunisher
#146 - The Amazing Spider-man 2 11.92% Rare Never thought I would get to this game after its release, but I was in Spider-man mood after No Way Home and after playing the first one, I figured it would be only appropriate to try this one as well. It's pretty rare game these days given that it has been taken from digital sales, but I was lucky enough to snatch a PS4 copy on Ebay for a reasonable price. How is the game itself?Kinda like the first one, it is a mixed bag as it plays very similarly and it doesn't change much. It's interesting how the developers tried to go for a more original story while still trying to cram the events from the movie, bit in a very rushed way. I swear, you met Max, one of the villains as a good guy before the transformation, only to have him later be in his Electro form off screen. The original story could have been interesting with Kraven the Hunter and Cassidy/Carnage if it was more fleshed out. As a result of a clearly rushed product, it feels like everything is trying to reach the finish line and the story can be done in one day. The gameplay like I said feels very similar to the previous one and even on the hardest difficulty I never had any struggle to progress further and only got myself killed once by accident. I will say however that what impressed me was the swinging mechanics. In the conversation of the best swinging of Spider-man in games I feel like this one gets overlooked a bit as it is implemented rather well and in some ways better than Spider-man 2 in 2004. Marvel's Spider-man is still the best in that department from my view, but I can't help like this might have been a prototype to those swinging mechanics as it feels very similar in some areas so we might thank this game for that. The worst thing however that I've heard justifiably critiquing any time is the morality system. This might be one of the worst gaming mechanic in a video game as it is depended on the player doing them everytime and in a time limit. If you ignore any side activities, the morality meter drops and Spider-man will be hunted by special forces. It really takes away the attention to force player in doing repetitive activities and sometimes doesn't give them enough time to progress to the other one, making completing the previous activity utterly pointless. It doesn't make the game unplayable, bit it is a big annoyance, especially if you are going for the collectables. This is why it is highly advised to do them before the security gets worse. As for the road to platinum, it was very similar to the first game, but thank God they cut down on the number of magazines and photos to do. That was my biggest gripe with TASM 1 for having almost 1000 collectables while this one cuts over half of it. The only other grind comes in the form of leveling every suit to a max level, which can be dauting, but if you frequently swap them during story missions, it gets easier. Those would be my very brief thoughts about this game. I say that I enjoyed it more than the first one mainly for a more original story, cut down collectables, suits, and swinging and yet it is brought down by the other stuff I mentioned. It is an easy platinum and while it is not a must play game for even the biggets Spider-man fans, it is not the worst option. You will also get to interact with the late Stan Lee in his comic shop and to my knowledge, this is the only game that will let you put on the Superior and Spider-Carnage suit, which is very awesome. Take care webheads! Edited December 27, 2021 by MarcusPunisher Format

Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #683: Marvel's Spider-Man - Miles Morales Difficulty: 3/10 Playtime: 14-15 hours Up on the housetop, kitty paws, out jumps good old... Spidering Man?!? Yes indeed, the halls are decked with season's beatings of an arachnoid nature for all of New York's pro-active redistributors of wealth. But what's this, what's this? It's not your good old Spidering Man after all! OG Spidering Man is on his Christmas vacation (hopefully not the kind that involves rabid squirrels, bad hairpieces, and highly flammable septic gas), leaving it to his understudy from the first game--the titular moral Miles--to vouchsafe the Big Apple in his absence. But is Miles truly ready to fly solo and step out of Peter's shadow, in both a narrative and metatextual sense? In a word: no. In more words: it's a little complicated... but still no. I wanna like Miles... I really do, you know? But he's got what I can only describe as a terminal case of Raidenitis: he's got a grating and whiny voice; he's gormless and perpetually out of his depth; and he engages in a whole bunch of spotmonkey-esque wasted motion; too much exaggerated swagger even for a Man of Spidering. At least they didn't go as far as to have him engage in plodding conversations about the Empire State Building, even with it being right there. Plain and simple... he ain't no Snake, man. No need to dust off your finger-pointing cartoon memes for this one. He's also trapped in a mediocre story that somehow feels both like an embarrassingly padded DLC, and a severely rushed full fat game story at the same time. It's up to its eyeballs in the kind of hackneyed contrivances for which I dislike an all too large part of superhero fiction... everyone has a damn secret identity, and it's always the most obvious candidate. While it has its fair share of smaller moments of resonance, the larger emotional beats feel very unearned. Moments such as the Morales' seasonal traditions, Miles' coping with his father's death, and the generally upbeat message about multicultural pride and unity prove much more subtly effective... the latter, especially, during these turbulent times. Where I would have been especially happy with just more of the same, namely the gameplay, they also make some poorly advised missteps. Miles' newfound bioelectric powers needlessly removes a lot of the finesse and tacticality of the first game, not to mention his comparatively pitiful array of gadgets. The removal of the OP Suit Power moves also lowers the fun factor. The game takes a while to ensure bioelectric power moves can make up for this lessened arsenal, and by the time it does, it's overpowered to the point of making even Ultimate difficulty a bit of a breeze. Web swinging, too, feels somewhat more clunky and unreliable somehow, not at all helped by the frankly inexcusable removal of the instant landing move. There is a bioelectric attack that serves as a poor man's substitute it requires stored energy you might not always have on hand. Granted, there is something uniquely cool about being able to leave the battlefield, jump off a building and do, like, a Double Beetloaf Flip or whatever, and use the resultant kinetic power to get back in the fight with a massive orange haymaker, but ultimately, this more arcadey approach has moved the series further away from the depth and refinement of the Arkham battle system. Addition by subtraction is rarely ever a thing that works, guys. This cavalcade of copious caveats, coupled with the fact that a majority of the content just the hashiest of rehashes, puts it on a much lower rung than the lofty perch on which sits one of the best PS4 exclusives ever made, and one of Marvel's few claims to video game supremacy. As things stand, mesmerizing snowy graphics and cute ass Spider-Kitten (it takes a pet like no problem!) or no, Moral Miles Saves Christmas isn't even capable of ousting Arkham Origins as the greatest Caped Christmas Caper (please ignore SM's tendency towards non-cape-ability, I just couldn't resist). Hopefully this isn't indicative of what SM2 has in store for us, because this is a disconcertingly long ways off from being the Fairytale of New York that it could have been. Popular Post Conor
#116- RESIDENT EVIL 2 [PS4] Raccon City Native Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Playthroughs: 5 Time: 1 Month, 3 Weeks & 3 Days / 35 Hours Rarity: 3.4% Ultra Rare (PSN) / 19.49% (PSNProfiles) Challenge: Minimalist- Clear the game without opening the item box Resident Evil 2 on the original PlayStation was my first experience with the series as a kid and it downright terrified me then. I have since played it many, many more times and it remains one of my absolute favourite games on the system. Having adored the Resident Evil remake on the Gamecube, I was greatly anticipating a similar treatment for the second game but the years passed and I despaired of it ever happening. Then along came Capcom in 2019 and dropped this doozy. Sure, the fixed camera was gone but honestly I think it is an outdated concept that wouldn't really work well in a game today. Instead comes the over-the-shoulder style popularised by Resident Evil 4 and it really suits the setting. It is not as action-heavy as 4 but it is no less frenetic and exhilirating. The zombies are not quick and organised like the Ganados but they are a bitch to put down permanently no matter how many rounds you unload into their heads and there are so many of them that it can be easy to get overwhelmed. There were some things from the original that I liked better; this version doesn't do a great job of making it clear that there are two different scenarios at play and many sequences get repeated rather than only be experienced by one character. Leon always fights Mr. X as his final boss before the train no matter the scenario and Claire always fights William Birkin on the elevator but both characters fight his penultimate form in the same arena, among other things that don't really gel but you're having so much fun you really only care if you're a pedantic bastard like I am. One thing I did love was that regardless of scenario Mr. X stalks you around the Raccoon Police Department. You're only safe in save rooms but he can appear literally anywhere else and hearing his heavy footsteps a few rooms away is always thrilling. The characters themselves are much better-acted than their original counterparts and sexier too, even Leon and I'm a straight guy I managed to get the DLC 100% as well and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Yes, that gas station gauntlet is a bitch but with practise and patience it is more than doable. Overall, Resident Evil 2 is an excellent package that will please veterans and newcomers alike and a lot of fun even under the most challenging conditions. Hopefully the Resident Evil 4 remake is as well made as this. Edited December 29, 2021 by Stan Lee

Popular Post MadDoggMajima
PLATINUM #13 - LEGO DC Super-Villains (PS4) - Here's To Mischief Wow, two superhero games in a row? This was of course from this month's PS+ free games. This actually isn't my first rodeo with these LEGO games, as I played one of the greatest things humanity has ever achieved (LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for Xbox 360) many years back, and well, this definitely was a LEGO game. THE STORY: Based off some storyline from the DC Comics (from what I've heard, I don't read comics), this game's plot involves the so-called 'Justice' Syndicate from an alternate Earth, led by Darkseid, coming to our (well, the LEGO version, at least) Earth, and the many heroes and villains of the DC universe join together to take them down. Going into this, I was expecting a story more centered around the villains, but by its tail end they're pushed to the side a bit and it becomes a more generic DC Superheroes game if anything. Also, apparently while I ignored LEGO games for a good decade or so they added voice acting to their cutscenes, and while it's well done (Mark Hamill is once again the Joker, which is never a bad thing), part of me misses the pantomime comedy of the old LEGO Star Wars games. SCORE: 7/10 THE GAMEPLAY: If you played one LEGO game, you've basically played them all. If you've never played one, it's a basic platformer involving solving puzzles, building LEGO objects and beat-em-up elements. Each level has several boxes to check off, like getting all 5 collectables called minikits, achieving 'True Villain' status by collecting a certain number of studs, and vandalizing a poster. The main draw of LEGO games is the large roster of playable characters that you can unlock, and this game has over 200 of 'em, including the ability to make your own villains, who gain abilities throughout the story. Outside of the levels, there are two open-world areas you can explore, where you can find other collectables, play races and take part in side missions to unlock new characters. SCORE: 7/10 THE GRAPHICS/PERFORMANCE: On my PS4 slim, the game ran pretty well, but there were a few moments with noticeable frame drops and even screen-tearing. As for the graphics, they look alright, the characters are expressive and the environments do look quite nice (I've always been a bit annoyed at how not everything in the environments is made out of LEGO bricks, but it probably would've been a nightmare for the dev team to do that, so I understand). SCORE: 8/10 THE TROPHIES: Outside of playing through each story mission twice for all the collectables, which felt like a bit of a drag, my real annoyance with this game's trophies was in the open world. It started out fun enough, but it became an absolute slog, enough to the point I decided to just throw up a guide because I didn't feel like solving any of the puzzles and locating certain objects during challenges. Not hard at all, but it can feel boring at times. SCORE: 6/10 MY OVERALL SCORE: 70%! Let's just say it'll be a real long time before I do another LEGO game. A fairly strong main campaign brought down a bit by the annoyances of 100% completion. This also marks my last platinum on my trusty old PS4 slim, as... PLATINUM #14 - Astro's Playroom (PS5) - You've Only Done Everything I suppose Lady Luck smiled in my favor, because I was able to get the fabled PlayStation 5 on Christmas Day. The second I got home, I immediately jumped into Astro's Playroom, mostly because everything else I had was still downloading. THE GAMEPLAY: Astro's Playroom is a short-but-sweet 3D platformer designed to introduce you to the DualSense controller. You play as an Astro Bot, a cute little thing originating from the PS4's The Playroom, going through 4 worlds, each split up into 4 zones. Half of each world is platforming, while the other half has Astro Bot entering a special suit and introduces a new gimmick, being a frog suit, a monkey suit, a ball, and a rocket. Each level also has several 'artifacts' (PlayStation accessories) to find, and puzzle pieces that build a mural in the PlayStation Labo, the central hub of the game. At the end of each level, you find the one of the first four PlayStation consoles. Astro Bot feels fluid and fun to control, and the game itself is well paced despite its short length. SCORE: 9/10 THE GRAPHICS/PERFORMANCE: The game looks absolutely great, and runs fluidly to boot! Each level and the Labo are littered with references to PlayStation history, with other Astro Bots cosplaying as iconic PlayStation characters (I loved the little Dante bot doing that air-shooting thing with Ebony & Ivory) and detailed models of PlayStation hardware. SCORE: 9/10. THE TROPHIES: A quick, easy, but very fun platinum. You can complete the game in no time, and many of the trophy names and clear conditions are clever PlayStation references in and of themselves. SCORE: 9/10. MY OVERALL SCORE: 90%! This love letter to PlayStation history was a great way to introduce me to the PS5, and has got my well excited for the many experiences I'll have with this console in the years to come. PLATINUM #15 - inFAMOUS 2 (PS3) - inFAMOUS 2 Platinum Trophy (nice name) This was a game I played back in February before I started trophy hunting, and I decided to go back to it as a quick platinum before the year ends. THE STORY: inFAMOUS 2 follows Lightning Boy himself Cole MacGrath (oddly enough, I don't remember his last name ever being mentioned in the first game, but maybe I'm just stupid), who after a large humanoid called 'The Beast' annihilates Empire City, the setting of the first inFAMOUS, escapes to the wholesome land of New Marais, filled with evil Ice Soldiers, a plague epidemic, and flooding everywhere. Your job is to collect 6 Blast Cores to power the Ray Field Inhibitor and defeat The Beast once and for all... Spoiler ...or you could just join the Beast and kill everyone who isn't a conduit. SCORE: 8/10. THE GAMEPLAY: inFAMOUS 2 has a lot more polished gameplay than the first game. You still have access to your lightning powers, but you also gain access to powers of different types depending on your choices during the game. Cole is fun to control and the powers are fun as always, but the movement feels a bit wonky, it's a bit like the older Assassin's Creeds where you kind of snap to things - it's hard to describe. I wish there was a larger variety of enemies though, you fight against the same ones over and over again and they only get more aggressive (but not nearly as much as the first game) and a pain to take out. SCORE: 8/10. THE GRAPHICS/PERFORMANCE: Being a PS3 game, it runs alright, but the frames dip real easy. For some reason the game has an unlocked frame rate, as you can look up in the air and suddenly it's smooth as butter. The graphics also look much nicer than the first game, and is definitely more colorful. SCORE: 7/10. THE TROPHIES: The platinum requires you to beat the game twice for each karma and difficulty. Like Second Son, hard difficulty isn't that much harder than normal and even easy difficulty, although you need to be more careful about your health as you can die much quicker. The most annoying trophy by far is 'With Great Power Comes Greater Power', which requires you to unlock all abilities. While luckily you only need to get the neutral abilities and those for your specific karma, even after collecting every Dead Drop, every Blast Shard, and doing every side and story mission, I didn't have nearly enough XP to unlock everything, so I had to resort grinding out XP with User-Generated missions, which took a long time. SCORE: 6/10 MY OVERALL SCORE: 72%! A well-made send-off to Cole, but I still think Second Son is my favorite of the inFAMOUS quadrilogy. This also marks my final platinum of 2021. Let's see what 2022 brings!
