Popular Post AJ_Radio
Platinum #128: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (December 30th, 2017) Difficulty: 3/10 Excitement: 5/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 10 Hours The first in a trilogy focusing on the Prince. An unnamed Prince arrives at a Maharaja's city, housing an evil, treacherous Vizier. Amongst the battle and destruction he comes across the Dagger of Time, a powerful artifact capable of reversing time itself. The Prince's army uncovers the Sands of Time, a hourglass with unknown potential. The Vizier tricks the Prince into releasing the Sands of Time, which turn the human inhabitants into monsters made of sand. Now with just himself, the Maharaja's daughter Farah, and the Vizier as the only humans left, the Prince must do what he can to reverse the destruction and foretell what is to come. At first glance, Prince of Persia may draw parallels to such games as God of War and Devil May Cry. Prince of Persia doesn't focus on combat too much, it is pure platforming. There is combat, but platforming takes the center stage and is a centerpiece of the series. The puzzles aren't too difficult on their own, although it is often troubling figuring out where exactly you need to go. There were various sections that had me stuck for quite a while until I realized that the Prince is capable of doing some rather impressive platforming. Hitting buttons, avoiding rotating sawblades, jumping over traps with spikes just mere feet away from him, these are just occupational hazards. The Prince even does some Ninja Gaiden style jumping which is rather useful to say the least. You are required to jump down between walls in a couple areas, timing the jumps with the X button on your controller becomes crucial. Combat is rather lackluster. While I don't expect any Prince of Persia game to have the type of combat that God of War, Batman: Arkham Asylum or even Assassins Creed do, I expect a system that is somewhat effective. Unfortunately it doesn't pan out too well here. I ended up using the same move hundreds of times on the various enemies. Some enemies have to be countered in order to effectively defeat them, and others can't be jumped on and attacked from behind. Apart from those, the combat is piss easy. Even the elevator fight which a lot of people apparently had trouble with wasn't too bad. Case in point, combat is easy to get used to and the controls are basic. It just isn't all that fun. I wasn't too impressed with the performance of the game. While this is a PS2 era game, it seems it ran a little slower than it probably should of. The PS3 is capable of running older games with higher FPS, so I'm not sure why Ubisoft didn't do that for this game. I suppose they did a direct port for the Prince of Persia Trilogy, which includes this game, the Warrior Within and the Two Thrones. Nothing significant, but a port that ran at higher FPS with smoother gameplay would of been nice. I personally felt The Sands of Time hasn't aged too well. The gameplay, while still enjoyable, was rather slow at times. The dialogue with the Prince talking to himself was a bit corny. Farah helps the player with various platforming sections, but she acted like a little sister as the relationship between her and the Prince seemed rather juvenile. The script wasn't this game's strong point, but the game was short enough for me not to get too distracted by it. The Sands of Time is a pretty easy platinum, but to me it just wasn't all that great of a game. The music was pretty lackluster, the metal guitar riffs during fights felt rather off and not fitting for a game that supposedly takes place in ancient times. The cutscenes had horrible audio, I could barely hear what the characters were saying. I found no subtitles option anywhere in the game so a lot of dialogue I simply skipped and couldn't hear it to begin with. The game is short enough to beat in under 10 hours, but having to play for 10 hours and not rewind time more than 20 times were annoying trophies to get. This was probably a lot more enjoyable back when it first released. But is simply hasn't aged very well. Hopefully the next two games in the trilogy will deliver a better story with better gameplay mechanics.
Lorajet
@Spaz Geez, another game on my backlog! I used to love POP, but now find it hard to get back into the game. Your writeup is spot on. Also, there were times I just wanted to shoot Farah, she was so damn irritating. Popular Post Empovyle
Platinum #74 - LittleBigPlanet Vita This game took me about 2 months real time. There's lots of frustrating aspects to this platinum, such as the Arcade, minigames, level acing, getting 100% of the prize bubbles, 24 active Create mode hours, and of course, the mandatory 50 plays on your published level. For anyone with this on your backlog, you should definitely start working on it today or at least publish a P4P level and check up on it every now and again. Throughout it all, I can still say that this game is a fun one - more fun than LittleBigPlanet 3 and Karting (in my opinion).

Popular Post Mesopithecus
#100. Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Finally reached my 100th platinum and what way to remember it with getting a platinum for one of my favorite games. As a sequel, I actually enjoyed this one more due to the added game play elements - I loved having the companions and I really liked how the servans were collected this time. The story was fun and interesting and I love the way it was expanded on in the epilogues once you got maximum affinities for all the companions. It took me 2.5 playthroughs to get everything done - during the first playthrough you are restricted on time somewhat due to the moon phases but there is still plenty of time to complete side missions, level up some of the affinities. Second playthrough I did absolutely everything that could be possibly be done - all of the side missions, leveling up to 50. I only needed an extra half playthrough to get the ability points needed to fully upgrade Aluche's skill tree. Overall, I really enjoyable game and I think I got the plat in around 48 hours.
Popular Post Nauticus87
#203 - Energy Invasion A terrible game that should only be played by masochistic trophy hunters such as myself. How in the hell is it possible to make a game in 2018 that's worse than the original breakout that came out in 1976. #204 - Horizon Zero Dawn A really enjoyable game. Pretty much Tomb Raider in a Far Cry Primal setting with machines and Witcher senses. I'd like the inevitable sequel to have bigger machines and make them climbable. I want to break them apart with my bare hands. I did kind of start to get bored of the story truth be told. All those board meetings at the end had my head drooping.
Popular Post Dragon-Archon
#175: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II After seeing the cliffhanger ending in the first game, I just had to find out what happened next. This game picks up a month after said ending. Rean sets out to find the members of Class VII. Most of the characters have some development, but I still didn't care about Elliot at all. My favourite characters still include Laura, Fie, Emma, Jusis, and Crow, but after playing this game Sara, Towa, Duvalie, Alfin, and Altina are added to that list. Locations from the previous game are revisited and when importing a save file, it's nice to see the references. My only gripe with the locations is that there aren't so many new ones, the majority is still from the first game. The story is excellent for the majority of the game, except for 2 specific parts. Both of these moments feel incredibly forced. The first one is a 'Luke I'm your father' moment and the other is Class VII graduating after only 1 year. At first the game makes it seem as if everyone is getting extra lessons to make up for the 2-month gap due to the war. However, talking to people reveals they're actually cramming the entire second year in just 3 months while also doing their regular first year lessons. For a game that's keen on talking and explaining things, this was just lazy on the developer's part. The reasons for everyone leaving is also very forced. Everyone except for 3 people didn't have urgent reasons to leave, yet they all left and Rean is left behind. It feels like Falcom did this just to have some added drama. The soundtrack is just as great as the first game and some of the new ones I liked a lot are Blue Destination, Phantasmal Blaze, and Awakening. The song I'll Remember You sounds nice too, even though I didn't understand a word of it. I liked the combat system from the first game a lot and it's expanded a bit in the sequel with Overdrive. When a gauge is full, it's possible to get 3 consecutive turns between a linked pair and do things like ultimate attacks or immediately casting magic without delays. Normal attacks are also guaranteed critical hits and Overdrive also heals all status ailments and restores some HP and CP. This may sound a bit too OP, but on Nightmare it's definitely needed, especially against the optional NG+ superboss. Trophy-wise this game is a lot less grindy compared to the first game. There's no trophy for winning 1,000 battles and obtaining 1 million mira (money) is so much easier since sepith are worth a lot more. In fact, I managed to get it at the end of the first playthrough by selling all sepith and some endgame equipment and quartz before reloading the save. There also isn't a trophy for playing 100 hours, which I only found out after playing for 100 hours without any trophy popping . I do wish the trophy images weren't completely identical to the first game, as I'm not a fan of recycled images. 11 hours ago, Ala-Arska said: Cat Quest is a catventure (*sigh*) worth plummeting into. Popular Post Azelais
いけにえと雪のセツナ Project Setsuna 雪の世界の物語 すべてのトロフィーを獲得した Despite the (entirely unnecessary) slowdowns in battle on the VITA and the loading times in menus, I had a blast with this game! It was exceptionally short for a RPG modelled with 'the old Japanese RP games in mind' but otherwise stayed in line enough with the past to give off noticeable PS1-y vibes. With modern anime cliches heavily revolving 'round the girls in the party and a dialogue that suits our current period far, FAR better than that of the 5th generation of gaming, Setsuna feels to me like a hybrid. Some 'there' in the past, a mouthful of 'now'. An impressive amount of - albeit bizarre - amount of recycling of concepts seen in Square's older games. No genius & absolutely mind blowing never-been-there plot, no characters that are fleshed out in such painstaking detail that they seem to come alive at any second - whether Project Setsuna manages to entertain and succeeds at this act of cross-generation balance enough to offer a satisfying experience is up to each of us, I think. (But if you liked early [B-tier] PS1 JRPGs as much or more than the infamous Chrono T/C, you might have lots of fun with this, too.) To me, it ended up being one of the most satisfying games I played. I won't deny that some of my love for Setsuna stems from that (beware the spoilers) Spoiler 石田 彰/Akira Ishida voices Fides ♡ ...ahh. Maybe more love than some. Quite literally, I rushed to get Fides and make him a permanent member of my active party. Can't resist that scythe, Mr Reaper! The OST I outright crashed in love with - hard. Time to hunt down that one! The songs are cozy, comfy and full of nice, warmth, melancholy and EVEN MORE COZY COZY. Also, this be my 3000th trophy. Popular Post AJ_Radio
Platinum #129: Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection (December 31st, 2017) Difficulty: 3/10 Excitement: 8.5/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 4 - 5 Hours The European version of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Different name, but pretty much the same collection. For my last platinum trophy of 2017, I decided to quickly wrap things up by doing the SEGA games a second time. SEGA was my childhood. These games were a big wave of nostalgia as I rented many of these titles at my local video store. That video store is long gone along with many others I recall seeing back in the 1990s. I also played Super Nintendo, but I didn't own one for myself as I had friends and family who did. Until I got a N64 circa 1997 - 1998, my consoles were strictly NES and the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive in Europe). So even with the 32 bit/64 bit generation making history, I was still playing that old 16 bit charm. Most of these games are fairly simple and the trophies reflect that. There is nothing overly difficult here, Yatta! from Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is the only challenge you have to face to get the platinum trophy. If you've played around with ROMs and Emulators you'll know that you can abuse save states, and here it's no exception. I did most of the trophies without ever needing save states since I knew most of these games by heart. Sometimes I wish it was the 1990s again. The commercials, the television shows, the movies, the video games, I miss it all. Kids today missed out. Nothing more to say here.

Popular Post GoodbyeBread
#69 - Dishonored This was a stealth game that really started to grow on me. With the Empress murdered and her daughter, Emily, kidnapped and taken away, you play as Corvo, former royal bodyguard, betrayed and framed as the empress killer. You must get your revenge, save Emily and clear your name. High points were alternatives to kills, powers and path ways. I like having the option not to kill my target, if given the chance. In one mission, you can posion your target's drink or brand him a "heretic", which would mean complete isolation. In another mission, you would have to kill your targets in a steam room or get a code to a safe and give it to LockJaw, who would get rid of your targets for you without killing them. Getting even without shedding blood seems more rewarding to me in my opinion. Powers were unique. Rats chewing on corpses, pausing time and teleporting at ease. I must say they are very creative. The only problem i have with is with regard of adrediline. Please put up a bar or meter. Pathway i found to be excellent. So many ways to approach your target and leave without being detected. Low points were bugs and detection. The game wasn't that bad, but some bits made it hard to play. After one mission, the game just held me at sea while samuel sailed away to where i needed to be. Of course this was fixable by reload my last save, but man it felt frustrating. Being detected by the enemy seems very powerful at times, like each guard somehow has spider sense. In conclusion, I had a fun time and think it is one of the best stealth games around. Haven't played the sequel, but i do hope we have more games like Dishonored in the future (minus the bugs).
Popular Post Icebrand1270
Well everyone, it's been some time since I've posted in this thread, and for good reason. I lost my account that I had since 2008 (Icebrand1270) to a bank card hack. It was officially shut down on September 29, 2017. what hurts the most is not the trophies or purchases. It's losing my old friends (the ones worth remembering), trying to find them, telling them I used to be someone they knew long ago and that it's not a trick. So far, limited tries with limited success. But one cannot grieve forever, so I started anew as OohYeah127. Prior to today, I had 4 Platinums, nothing hard or special. Today was an incredible day, however: 3 PLATINUM TROPHIES IN A SINGLE DAY!!! GLORIOUS!!! Without further ado, here we are: 5. Riptide GP2 1-16-2018 1:00 AM An arcade-style aquatic racer with hydro jets, this game is a lot of fun at only 7 dollars. No online trophies either. A bit of grinding is required to buy more hydro jets, which is necessary to do well on later events. It is a popular game among trophy hunters already, but give it a try if you haven't. You won't regret it! 6. Burly Men at Sea 1-16-2018 2:58 AM I had wanted to try this one for some time, so I did. It is a point-and-click based on Scandinavian mythology and follows 3 bearded sailors looking for adventure. The good news is that the 12 endings are all short, varying from 15-30 minutes each. The bad new is the paths are somewhat repetitive and the controls take getting used to. The art style is unique and beautiful and the soundtrack is nice as well. It is different but not for every point-and-click fan. Still, it just might be up your alley. 7. Fallout 4 1-16-2018 10:52 PM I can't say I was expecting to end the day with 3 Plats, especially given the length of Fallout 4. I got through the trophies I needed and you can clearly see the results! As is well-known, there are as many opinions about Fallout 4 as there are people. This is especially true when it comes to comparisons in relation to Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. I never played Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas myself under my old PSN ID, so I have no basis for comparison. That said, i did have a good time with this. Of course, it helped that I showed up after all the DLC came out, first under my old ID, meaning that most of the bugs (read: most) had been fixed. And like I said, this was my first Fallout game, so maybe I would like another one better. Who can say? After coming back, I originally took it slow, and only after finishing it the first time did I try for tougher trophies in a "Why Not" thought. My inner completionist had me take on quest after quest, to the point that, even without DLC, I was Level 59 by the time I entered the Institute. I suppose I wanted to see everything. Some characters and quests were more fun than others (I admit to getting a kick out of seeing Fenway Park repurposed into a walled community called Diamond City for what passes for the rich and influential in the Commonwealth... and I'm a New Yorker... hehehe). I suppose the plot boils down to a classic tale of "You can't go home again" in the Fallout universe, for better or worse. I played as Nora as opposed to Nate and did enjoy the voice acting provided for her, even if her dialogue was as limited as they say (Getting sarcastic with a courser before killing him? Don't mind if I do!) As for the trophies, they are mostly straightforward... mostly. Plenty of plot-related ones, ones tied to the various endings that can happen in the game, grinding, miscellaneous activities and even one for dying (under a specific circumstance that tends to happen a lot early on I'm afraid). However, one trophy will make or break you... Benevolent Leader. Getting to 100 in a Large Settlement takes preparation, the right perks and a little luck. Regardless about how people feel about Fallout 4, everyone agrees on this fact.

Popular Post RedRodriguez87
PS4 BFA Ugh, sooooo glad to be done with this one. While I found the first one to be decently average, this one was a bore to get through. Death is the same breed of the main character is a that War is, a bland stoic nonentity so focused on being so KEWL AND BADASS that he forgets to have a personality. (though I'll give him so credit that he's a BIT more bearable, if only because he snarks back to NPCs). The story is as lame as the first, and the storyTELLING has gotten even worse. Here's how every plot point plays out. Death: So its you, NPC I know/don't know. NPC: Here's my entire backstory/plot relevance with no proper introduction. Feel free to forget it, as I'll either lose relevance after this dungeon, or be its boss you have to kill. No go fetch me a macguffin from a dungeon. - and when you get to said dungeon - other NPC: To get this macguffin, we'll have to get 3 additional macguffins from the same dungeon. Seriously, damn near every already-bloated fetchquest is padded out EVEN more items to fetchquest before you can even lay eyes on the original item you were quested to fetch. I described the first Darksiders essentially being a Zelda reskinned as a graphic novel action game, and while people could cry ripoff, I feel doing that really helped that game. What was added to give it that Darksiders feel NEVER took away from that solid underlying gameplay. It only served to enhance it (for the most part). With Darksiders 2, they completely altered the character system, taking away powerups and replacing it with nonsensical MMORPG-esque stats and variables, took away Wars maneuverability so that you HAVE to trek out on foot every square inch of a dungeon and altering how you could normally tackle a puzzle into a linear do-this-do-that, and did nothing to fix the first games unreliable dodge mechanics. To really kick you in the trophy-hunting balls, it caps off your level during your first playthrough for absolutely no reason other to artificially extended the length of an already ridiculously padded main campaign. The 1st game's platinum only put the 2nd one on hold for me to play. The 2nd one however, completely killed any interest I could have had with the 3rd. No wonder the series was almost cancelled after this one.

For me personally this was one of the best games of the last gen. Not only because of the awesome soundtrack and metal themed world, there is really a huge portion of humour, a cool story, nice characters and a very good gameplay. The mix between hack n slay, adventure, RTS and whatever had its influence on it, gave me a really really fun time with this game.
Popular Post I need more BIOSHOCK
Plat 312 Mortal Kombat X Always had alot of love for the MK games but, oh my word did this have some pain in the ass trophies! The gind to level up to 65 and all 5 factions was boring as fook..... At the end of the grinding my 2nd controllers character had levelled up to almost level 14 from just standing there getting twatted lol. I got the XL disc a while back for a bargain price brand new and just had alot of fun playing it but then got drawn into the plat. Was it worth it? Oh hell yea it was a buzz to see that plat pop! Basically if you are in two minds to get the game its great fun with tonnes of easy fast trophies with lots of replayability. The plat on the other hand is one hell of a boring grind! Nowhere near as bad as MK9 though, I'd never entertain that grind! Oh and a quick tip, if anyone needs that stupid 'keep it secret trophy' the MK3 premier tower is on this week! I used Triborg, never even got a flawless or did a fatality and the secret fight popped up after fight 3. I was waiting for this tower for around 8 weeks so get on it while its there guys n gals! (Plat image doesn't show after copying and pasting. Annoying....) Edited January 17, 2018 by MIKEY-L-666

Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#238 - Metro 2033 Redux First playthrough of this a few years ago was a mess. "Enlightened" trophy didn't unlock and save file corrupted. This time everything went smoothly and for some reason playing through it on survival mode was a lot easier than when I did the regular playthrough. I was never short on ammo and had over 1.5k military rounds by the end of it without really exploring too much. Good game overall, but still prefer the sequel, although the morale system in both games is terrible. Enjoyment: 7 Difficulty: 5
