Popular Post Slava
#12 - METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN (PS3) Legend MGSV: TPP is the game I was most hyped for in my entire life. I had watched every trailer several times before it came out, the last one even got me misty-eyed. I remember all the excitement, the memes, etc. The question now, after I have finally platinumed it, is: did the game deliver? Many people will agree when I'll say yes, but not really. Let's start with the bad part - the story. It follows the events of Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes. You (Venom Snake/Big Boss) wake up from a 9 year coma after you lost everything you had. You join your old friend Kaz Miller in a quest for revenge and begin rebuilding your base. The beginning of the game's plot is great, but that's it. Once the game starts answering all your questions, it becomes somewhat disappointing. The first chapter's ending is kinda anticlimactic, the second chapter doesn't really have an ending (it offers resolutions to some subplots instead), and the third chapter doesn't even exist. Of course, everything that happened between Konami and Hideo Kojima was unfortunate, it sucks that the game was left unfinished and the story ended the way it did. But I'd argue Kojima had dropped the ball before that happened. Firstly, the story feels disjointed sometimes. A lot of the main missions felt insignificant. And the main character (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) remains silent for long periods of time. Secondly, the quality felt inconsistant. There are plenty of great well-written and well-directed cutscenes (almost all of them done in one continuous shot before Cory Barlog did that in God of War reboot) and clever and cool set pieces. But a lot of them are cringe-worthy or just bad. Some things didn't make sense at all. In this game Kojima expored themes like the cycle of revenge, race and language, the pain of losing something or someone. He mostly does it well. But when he suddenly goes in different directions, that stuff feels weak and dumb. As for optional stuff, like in PW, some big and important plot points are told through cassette tapes. While I don't mind that, the problem here is that the good and interesting ones are few and far between the boring ones. For example, I wanted to skip most of the stuff Code Talker had to say. What I liked about this game is the core gameplay. It just feels and plays great. It is very similar to PW in structure. You have main missions and side ops + Mother Base management in between them. The gameplay loop for me was as satisfying as in PW. The difference is that TPP is a massive game. The open world allows you to travel freely from one side op to another, while the main mission areas are limited. They are still big and open, and the levels (outposts, villages, etc.) give you a lot of freedom. Speaking of which, this game is all about freedom. You can approach missions however you want and do a million different things: you can go guns blazing and still get S ranks if you headshot enough people you can CQC and tranquilize everyone you can sneak past everyone without leaving a trace you can get weird and confuse people by putting an anime girl art on your cardboard box you can drive around in a car with your dog in a passanger seat and run over people or you can order your dog to slice someone's throat while you sit and watch or you can just drive a tank and blow shit up. And there are many more options and gadgets to choose from. There are many repetitive side ops (not as bad as in PW, though), but they only become boring if you choose to play that way. The key is to always try out new things. You'll be surprised how useful even the stupid water pistol is. Just be creative and the game will rarely stop being fun. In between missions you can run around your base (which is now a physical place), explore different platforms, practice your shooting skills. You can also listen to what your Diamond Dogs are talking about, then punch them and hear "Thank you, Boss". You can send them on dispatch missions and destroy some storage facilities so your enemies don't receive a supply of helmets, or body armor, or something else that you don't like. There is also an online part called FOB missions where you infiltrate other people's bases and steal stuff from them, which works as a pallette cleanser if you're tired of Afghanistan and Africa. I'm not even talking about Metal Gear Online 3 which is a completely separate mode, like GTA Online. The good news for people that have yet to start playing this game is that all the online stuff works even on PS3. The servers undergo maintenance regularly, new FOB events and rewards are still being added, and PF rating battles never stop. It's a miracle that everything works properly on PS3 without glitches or anything and looks this good. The name of that miracle is Fox Engine. The game targets 30 fps and mostly does a good job of not dropping the framerate too much. Not everything is perfect, though. The cutscenes (all of them are in-engine) are locked at 20 fps on PS3. The load times are fine and partially hidden in your helicopter flights. But iDroid menus often get stuck for a second or two. That said, if you have a PS4, you should absolutely pick that version of the game so you can play in 1080p at 60 fps even on a base version like the majority of people who bought this game. The trophies are not bad. Unlike Peace Walker's trophy list, this one doesn't require you to S-rank all side ops. There is one MP trophy, but it's easy, you don't have to grind anything for it. If you want to plat TPP, you'll spend most of your time on S-ranking all main missions, getting all mission tasks, and rescuing all animal types. Some mission tasks can be buggy. Especially the ones, where you have to listen to all NPC conversations. Some of these characters won't start talking even if you don't mess up their scripted paths by distracting them. You'll just have to either wait a little bit, or restart, or distract them 40-60 seconds before they're about to speak if nothing else works. Some tasks are stupid. The one I hated most was to extract 7 armored vehicles and 7 tanks in one of the missions. In the end, I decided to just use the Lil' Chick Hat (the game's version of ultra easy mode). The rest of the trophies won't be a problem and you'll get them without thinking too much about them. Edited April 21, 2020 by Alderriz
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#444 - Road Rage What a mess this was. Can't say I'm surpriised though, as I've known that this game wasn't good. I loved Road Rash back in the day and only bought htis one, because it was 3 bucks. I feel sorry for anyone who paid any more than that. So many bugs, fucked up physics, terrible collision detection and even the story mode was just dull. jonesey46
I just platinumd Human Fall Flat today and the game was fun playing through it split screen with my girlfriend but when it came to a second run to clean up all the misc trophies it became an infuriating mess. Deleted the game real fast once I was done.
Popular Post Ghanupher
#29 THE CONQUEROR (Assassin's Creed: Revelations) #30 MASTER ASSASSIN (Assassin's Creed III) Just working my way up the Assassin's Creed saga on the PS3. #30 Platinum being Assassin's Creed III seems about right, since I quite enjoyed it (was gonna be Twisted Metal, but I'll leave it for #50 if I ever make it that far) Now passing time with other games in my backlog, doing inline trophies. But the idea is to have all the Assassin's Creed games (the PS3 ones at least) completed to 100% in order on my profile. Think it will look...cool?
Popular Post ZitMeatloaf
#50 - Chess Ultra "Ultra" It's chess. The same game that's been around for about 550 years. If you like chess, you can play it on your PS4 - WOW! If you don't like chess, then there's nothing here for you. I hadn't really planned on this for my 50th platinum, but a 32-player tournament I was a part of ended in victory (I won when the other finalist didn't show up!), which was the last trophy I needed, so voilà.

I somehow beaten the game despite struggling with the notorious bad physics which ruined the game tbh. Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 5/10 --- Platinum #16 Grand Theft Auto V (PS4) By far my most played game on the PS4, I don't think I need any introduction to this game. However I would say that while the trophies aren't too difficult, they are a bit time consuming and in GTA Online's case, takes a lot of grinding. Popular Post WetRaindrops
#42 Enjoyment:6 Difficulty:5 The only thing that is really hard about this is that stupid "Becomes the master" trophy.. Took me 2-3 hours I think idk lost track of time there. Honestly never even thought of platting this game but due to quarantine i have been doing my backlog. I used to love the online a couple years ago and I never played through the story. Once i looked at it I realized it was fairly simple. Some hard points in the hard play through but I made it pretty quick too surprisingly. If you can get through the course at the beginning I recommend this one! Popular Post starcrunch061
Plat #380 - Sengoku Basara Samurai Hero Acquire all Trophies in the game No game will ever top Star Ocean: The Last Hope for purely mindless grinding. Hours upon hours of killing weak enemies, just so you could say that...you killed weak enemies. We're talking 400 hours of useless grinding. But Sengoku Basara has a claim at the second most useless grinding ever. There are a grand total of 38 short stages. Each of 16 characters plays in 7 or 8 of those stages per playthrough, and you need to beat the game 4 times with each character. THEN, you have to start grinding out materials and weapons. For some stages, I had every single line of dialogue completely memorized. It took me about 150 hours to plat the game. There's only about 10 hours of content in the actual game. Screw Capcom.

Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #104 - Oxenfree Leave Possible?, 23.47% Rarity Difficulty - 1.5/10 , Time Spent - 15 Hours , Enjoyment 5.5/10 Oxenfree tells the story of a group of friends who stumble onto a supernatural phenomenon while out participating in teenage debauchery. They search the desereted island they are trapped on for ways to escape the haunting they are experiencing. Oxenfree tells a really good story and offers a polished experience with some nice artwork. The gameplay involves very basic "platforming" and exploring while selecting text responses for various dialogue options. You also get to play around with a radio to tune into hidden frequencies. I think this was actually one of the neatest things about the game as you have the option to basically turn your controller into the radio by allowing the sound to come out of your controller instead of the TV; not a lot of games use the DS4's sound functionality, so I thought that was pretty cool. The game does get tedious for trophies, however, with a minimum of 3 playthroughs needed to get all of them (and 4 playthroughs if you follow the walkthrough). However, nothing is particularly hard about the trophy list... just a little time consuming and boring after the 3rd time you've heard the dialogue.66
Popular Post PooPooBlast
#136 Yakuza 4 (PS4) Oof I’ve never been this torn about a game before. Yakuza 4 had the potential to be one of the best games in the Yakuza series if not among other games as well. Its amazing combat and gameplay are marred by the story/campaign. The story starts off in the point of view of a moneylender named Akiyama who lends a shit ton of money to a woman (100M yen), who is entangled in some serious shit with the Yakuza. Akiyama later gets himself entangled as well after taking interest in the woman which also later attracts the likes of the other 3 protagonists in the game: Tanimura ( a cop), Saejima (a convicted Yakuza on death row) and non other than Kiryu. The game was fan freaking tastic up until (Rant incoming and spoilers!!) Spoiler Saejima miraculously washing up at Kiryu’s orphanage after escaping from a Prison Island. They freaking ruined an amazing prison escape segment on this! That was the first blow. Second one is when freaking Hamazaki washes up at Kiryu’s orphanage later as well! But that’s not all, when Hamazki turns over a new leaf to surrender himself, him and Kiryu meet with Yasuko in front of the station by some sort of miracle to advance the plot as she initially headed there to the police station to see Saejima one more time before his death sentence. (she didnt know he escaped). Then you have the whole slew of plot nonsense, over the top betrayals, and off-screen shootings that I started giving less and less shit about. Suguichi betraying Tanimura, Hisai betraying Tanimura, Daigo betraying Majima, Kido betraying Arai for Katsuragi (we later learn that was a dud sure but then Arai betrays Kido lmaoo), Arai betraying Shibata, Arai betraying Munakata, Katsuragi betraying the Ueno Seiwa, Sasai betraying Saejima and his family, etc. etc… And finally… you know it, I know it.. everybody knows it.. RUBBER BULLETS! That’s freaking all.. Gameplay/Minigames/Substories/Combat: Now that you have 4 different characters with different personalities, there were lots of fun and cool side activities. Your standard gambling minigames, shogi, mahjong, batting, and karaoke all make a return. Massage Parlor is still there from Yakuza 3 which I still find hilarious (you have to control a meter from either going to low or too high during the massage minigame which involves a scantily dressed woman on screen giving you a message and you as the player have to resist any distractions). There was a new minigame added which was called hot spring ping pong. It involves you taking a hot bath, then jumping to play a game against a woman. It’s not a yakuza game without a twist though! The more points you score, the more the woman’s cleavage starts to show and the higher your heat meter can build up if you ahem…. Stare . You use the heat action then to smash the ball and essentially earn a free point Another new minigame was the dojo training for Saejima. You had to recruit a whole bunch of people with no fighting experience and teach them how to become better fighters. It involves a simulation minigame where you have to train stats like power, stamina, technique, etc. The rewards you get are them fighting alongside you in the coliseum along with hilarious moments when bonding with the characters because Saejima still lives like it's '85 . It was a pretty neat minigame. Then surprisingly, there were only 62 substories in total despite having 4 characters. It’s much less than the 119 in Yakuza 3. However, they were noticeably longer and typically more involved so I didn’t feel like there was a lot less content. Trophy-wise, game was piss easy compared to the other yakuza games. The only challenging thing was well ... ultimate challenge mode . There were a few that gave me a little bit of trouble but nothing crazy hard. There was Tanimura's end segment on legend but weapons made it trivial. Combat-wise, the game was a huge improvement over 3 and it was so much fun to play with. Akiyama was based on kicks and agility, Saejima is a fking tank! He just smashes everything around him. He was my favourite character to play as. Here’s a little snippet of what he can do! Spoiler Tanimura’s style involves a lot of Jiu Jitsu, Aikido, and Judo which fits his cop persona. There’s a lot of parrying and submission holds that he can do which were pretty fun to use. And there’s Kiryu.. Kiryu is kiryu. Finally, I know I am always raving about Yakuza’s soundtracks and well… Im going to do it again here They really really knocked it out of the park! Im not exaggerating when I say that this game has one of the best tracks out there. So, so good. With that, grab a pair of headphones, kick back with some Yamazaki 12 and enjoy ?. Spoiler This one plays in the coliseum. By far, the best rendition yet. It's so badass! This one plays in segments where you have to return to a hideout or look for someone. There's some tension/urgency involved. It's so damn good especially when it rains at night in the game and all the lights are shining and reflecting off of the streets. Same as above, except there's more urgency! It's too bad it only plays like once! Plays multiple times during long battle sequences but the stand out for me was during a certain segment with Saejima that I wont spoil. This is Akiyama's theme. My favourite of the other 3 character's themes! It perfectly reflects his chill demeanour and his lightheartedness to every situation. (Everything is like a joke to this guy!) This plays against one of Majima's upper goons. It's so wild and whacky. There was an ultimate challenge mission where you have to stop this guy from picking up the mic and sing else you fail the mission because his voice was atrocius . This song fits that vibe perfectly. Saejima's theme. All I hear is destruction around me Majima's theme. I think the best remix yet after Yakuza 0's remix Tanimura's theme. That bass is life! Plays when responding to a police call about gang related issues when playing as Tanimura. Plays during Tanimura's training with Nair. Also plays during a challenge mission which involves guns and zombies! Must've been the precursor to Yakuza dead souls Plays against two dudes I wont say for spoilers! Boss fight was great! I didnt expect to fight those people. Plays in of Saejima's segments I wont say for spoiler reasons. Pretty badass and the beat is on point. One of the long battle sequences. 1:50 is when it gets all hype! Plays in of Kiryu's long battle sequences I wont spoil either. Another hype track. One of the chase segments of the game. Pretty dope. Plays during one of Akiyama's chase sequence I believe. As the title implies, the Brass is SPICY. Plays in of the 4 battles that happen in the end. One thing that's cool is that all 4 battles are remixes of each other. Here are my favourites! The best remix imo This track plays in of the minigames called dojo training. It plays in the main menu and there's no reason for it to be this badass but the composers wanted to be extra Plays in New serena, the hideout bar. By far the best rendition yet compared to the previous yakuza games. It's sooo chill The perfect track to unwind to when getting destroyed in blackjack because it's rigged Aaand that's it. If you've come this far then you sir/madam have excellent taste! Now that Yakuza 4 is done, Dead souls, 5 and 6 remain. ( as well 7 when it graces the west, cmon Sega!). Up next.. no idea.. we’ll see ?! Edited April 22, 2020 by PooPooBlast

With MW2 it was always solidified as one of the best action FPS there is, offering a great narrative, FPS experience. After obtaining the trophy (The Student Surpasses The Master) after so many tries and reflexes deteriorating with age and hating speedruns/time trials such as this, it was inevitable for me to achieve platinum after putting in that much effort and the lack of MP trophies was an added bonus to go for the plat. It almost fell like making the game was a chore, or something they had to do because the contracts said trilogy or something. Atrocious dlcs and long loading times, i regretted every time i had to use Fast Travel. As for Camilla Luddington, she failed as Lara in my eyes. In the first game she was very good as young Lara but in Rise and Shadow of the TR she was just monotonous and boring. Lara Croft is supposed to be confident, smart, enthusiastic and playful with witty comebacks. Camilla portrayed her as timid, pitiful little girl. At least i heard she is not coming back for more although the ending of the last dlc ''inceptioned'' me
