The four titles will be the guinea pig for what is to follow. Now bigger games like Starfield will be available if there is demand like Uncle Phil said. Pretty much what I expected - Phil talking about how is everything dandy, how he feels good about future, how is Xbox great place to play and then in the end I expected him to say that Hi Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves is coming to PS5 and Switch so more gamers can enjoy these great titles, but we got 4 unnamed games instead, which leaked immediately, which is the funniest thing In the end I don't really care about Xbox as long as they won't buy any more major publishers, but I would like Gears of War on PS5 eventually and I would try out Halo MCC as well. The idea that they were just going to announce that like Halo is coming to Playstation was always kinda out there (though Starfield was a bit more believable just because it seems like kind of a flop compared to previous Bethesda games lol.) Not because it'll never happen, but, simply because you start small. Cause I mean, does anyone realistically think it's only going to be 4 games and nothing else? At a minimum it feels like they basically threw AA/indie games under the bus as not really mattering. Put your popular live service titles (SoT, Grounded) and your niche games (Pentiment, Hi-Fi) on other platforms and keep your "system sellers" so to speak exclusive (On PC so not really exclusive). I'm glad Sony has gone down this route for its live service titles with Helldivers 2 also, since that seems to be reviewing well on Steam at the moment. Exclusives drive the ecosystem of consoles regardless of how upset it makes people they can't play a certain game on their platform of choice, it's important to make the hardware worthwhile in comparison to the competition. Theyre going to be eating the cost of putting ABK (and most importantly COD) on GamePass but they NEED to make some ROI on Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment of all things? I dont believe that. That makes no sense. Something is mucked up in the works here, so to speak. These are totally contradictory business decisions. My assumption is that theyre going to greenlight more later and theyre just kinda lying by omission ("Yeah Starfield isnt coming" meanwhile in the background someone is still negotiating for the dev kits or something) or that whatever future plans theyve got are totally dependent on how these 4 smaller titles sell (which is a poor business plan in of itself). Secondly, 34M GamePass subs is actually a lot better than I thought it would be based on them refusing to ever say the number. It's still not good but theyve been giving the impression that it was hard stuck in the 20s or something. However, it's still not great assuming this is a post Live Gold integration number (which I suppose we shouldve guessed from Sony's move to a tiered system earlier not changing the overall total number of subs at all). Finally, Microsoft continues to have no idea how to present themselves. They spent like 75B dollars and theyre doing a week late podcast to announce nothing. If they wanted the teams to announce them, then bring the devs into the studio for five minutes and have them announce it. This whole situation reeks of some marketing exec seething that his perfect little trailer rollout got blown up. Console is sinking but yeah lets just let this fester for a week, brilliant idea. People complain about Sony never saying anything, well youve just seen why because it's better to say nothing ever than to look like an idiot by trying to say things. The fact they also continue to say how much goes on gamepass and then are talking sales numbers is hilarious. Maybe don't make your games day one? It obviously is killing your company. They knew perfectly well what the reaction would be if they announced their games coming out on PlayStation and how their die-hard fans would react. No rational company would allow rumors to go unchecked for this long. This was a calculated tactic to let the rumors flood for a week and let everyone speculate on how bad it is, then come out and say, oh it's just 4 small games, no big deal.
