Popular Post BlitzkriegHottie
"Wilson!!! WILSON!!! I'm Sorry!! I'm Sorry!!! WILSON!!!!! I'm Sorry Wilson!!! I Can't!!" Stay Alive! Rarity: 2.24% The Great Coconut Massacre: Hated the game for the first couple hours, ended up loving it after a while. It's all about the gameplay: hoard, craft, sail, repeat and that's the game's greatest strength as well as it's weakest point. It's charming simplicity just clicks, but this very same simplicity is what kills its replayability. At first it might seem you have endless options but once you attempt a second run, you quickly notice that mimicking your successful run is really the best option. The game also suffers from several technical issues like constant frame drops as well as lots of stuttering and since I'm such a hardcore hoarder in videogames, this only makes things worse. Now there's a lot of lag to be added to that list. Xbox is getting a Co-op update, just like PC, and I can't even imagine what a laggy hellhole Co-op is going to be once it arrives for Ps4/5 later on. And don't forget the glitches, you'll witness several items fly away into the horizon, laughing at you for having to fix a plane in order to escape instead of just glitching out of the island like dead pigs, rafters or random sticks often do. Oh hey, look, it's Wilson! Difficulty wise, this isn't a walk in the park, the game is brutal in the beginning and it's going to stay that way for a couple hours. It's so unforgiving it seems impossible to beat, but once you get the hang of it, it's smooth sailing from there. No pun intended. Also, fuck poison, that shit means game over unless you are lucky and can find them pipis (the actual name of the plant) So just hoard them pipis and eat them when needed. Game Rating: 7/10 Platinum Difficulty: 6/10 Time to platinum: 25 - 30 hours My attempt at recreating the game's horrendous icon: I messed up the POV, heh. Popular Post BlackSnake1435
Platinum #58 Resident Evil Village Enjoy: 10/10 Difficulty: 5/10 I've been a fond of the Resident Evil series since the first installment for the PS4. I must admit, I wasn't that exited by this game as I heard about its release only for PS5, but then, I purchased the PS4 version, and the experience was just great. I hadn't had that much fun with a new entry of this series for a while. I like most of the characters, specially Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. Also how Chris returns for the fourth consecutive time since RE5 "I wish I could see Jill or Leon again in a new Resident Evil game". Ethan Winters, definetely the father of the year, now that we are close to father's day.

You know how relieved I am to finally have this platinum. From what I remember the campaign was pretty fun. It is Call of Duty after all and most the time the campaign is fun. This co op mode was fun to but it was frustrating to keep running into the problem. I do have to give a couple shout outs. One to @ONUOsFan for trying to help me when we kept hitting that problem and one for @TrustMeIGotIt for helping me to finally get it.
Popular Post HansPatat050
Racing Legend 3.74% Difficulty 5/10 (but you can make this a 3/10 or a 10/10, there is an AI difficulty slider) Enjoyment 7/10 Hours: 70-80 Solid game, singleplayer trophies are straightforward but 2 of them require a grind trough multiple championship seasons where you want to trigger interviews which are somewhat RNG based. It took me some time to understand what makes the interviews to trigger. The online servers are still up but there aren't that many people left in the ranked lobbies, which is where you need to be to get your driver rating and safety rating at a desired level. Overall solid racing game, nothing too special, some grindy trophies but certainly doable.
Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #148 - Coffee Talk 61.89% Rarity Difficulty - 2/10, Time Spent - ~7 Hours, Enjoyment 8/10 Coffee Talk has you playing as the barista at a local bar. The main character, Freya, is one of your regulars. She is a writer working on her novel and she drawns inspiration from the patrons of the coffee shop. It's not too hard to find inspiration considering that the world is full of unique problems due to the fact that there are multiple different species in this world-- vampires, werewolves, orcs, elves, etc. During story mode, you get to meet several different people who come into your shop and learn their stories while brewing them beverages. The stories are all really interesting, and the gameplay of making the coffee is also really fun. There's also a challenge mode where you are filling orders, which I thought was particularly fun because it requires you to memorize ingredients and their attributes to be able to make drinks quickly (though you can also pause the game and look up drinks in the guide if you're having problems). One of the things I really liked about this game was the soundtrack. They are all very low-key songs but I really enjoyed the atmosphere they give the game. The soundtrack is on Spotify and I intend to use it as background music while I'm working. Anyway, definitely a good game to kill some time with. I recommend it.

Popular Post rjkclarke
Platinum #322 Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (PS4) Lionheart Obtain all trophies I know I'm about to sound soooooo OLD here, but just this once I don't think I mind. It just has to be said, " they really don't make them like this any more." So lets talk about probably one of the more divisive entries in the Final Fantasy series. I'm going to get this out of the way now and just put it out there, I love this game, I always have and I think I always will, more-so even than most peoples favourite Final Fantasy VII. I'm not blind to peoples issues with this game though and I think they deserve to be talked about, just as much as I want to heap praise on it. Final Fantasy VIII I would say is probably one of, if not the least accessible entry in the series - to both newcomers and established fans alike. I think its safe to say it probably was when the game was originally released at least. Final Fantasy XII may have later taken that possibly unwanted crown. I'll get to some of the why later on, probably when I mention gameplay. I seem to be playing a lot of remasters at the moment and my prevailing thought - from my own perspective at least, is that more than anything, the fact is, that its amazing that these games even have trophies in them at all for us to enjoy earning. Its something that we maybe shouldn't take for granted either, I don't think I ever would have thought seven or eight years ago that I'd have a platinum trophy from two PS1 Final Fantasy titles, but here we are. As far as Remasters go, this one is very well crafted. Not perfect by any means, I think some of the re-touched character models aren't exactly brilliant. I'm glad that they did them, I just don't think they were that faithful. Squall , for example, looks only vaguely similar to what he does in the FMV cutscenes. I mean the clothes are the same I guess. I honestly thought he looked like TIdus from Final Fantasy X going for a dark dye job and then borrowing some clothes from someone he knew who was a big fan of My Chemical Romance circa 2006, or at the very least made his own clothes out of one of Lulu's giant dresses. Wow never thought I'd end up mentioning My Chemical Romance when reviewing a Final Fantasy title, so that's a new one. My memory could be fairly hazy though, because I hadn't actually played Final Fantasy VIII since about 2012, I was maybe a quarter of the way through attempting a perfect game, so all the characters in that version would have looked like some fuzzy pixels. In general though this PS4 version looks pretty immaculate, apart from the odd spot here and there, that I assume was just forgotten about. I honestly had to remind myself a few times that I was actually playing a PS1 game, remastered or not this wouldn't look out of place on a PS2. Even for when it came out, some of the things this game does visually are astounding. It wouldn't seem much to someone that started gaming in say 2021 or before, but the way the game almost seamlessly transitions from FMV to actual gameplay is incredible. Purely from a visual standpoint this game is phenomenal, I don't strictly mean graphically either. Final Fantasy games have always had the amazing ability to tell beautiful stories without voiced dialogue - a real testament to how how well some of them are written I suppose. In some respects later entries were probably hindered by an over reliance on voiced dialogue. I can't give enough praise to Yoshinori Kitase for how well crafted some of the cutscenes were, on multiple levels too; some of the sheer scope and ambition on display in this game is truly impressive. Of particular note are some of the scenes in space, as well as the lead up to the "Assassination Mission in Deling City" even watching it more than twenty years later its still so well put together. I can't not mention the ending scene and the lead up to the credits either, although I won't mention any spoilers because if anyone is still spoiler free and wants to play it they absolutely should. I love the scene that plays during the credits though and everyone who has played it will probably understand what I mean, that it is almost equal parts poignant and funny. The sort where you have a huge smile on your face just as you notice your eyes are wet. I'll try and keep this bit brief because I'm about to go into the OST and the Sound Design elements in this game and anyone that has read anything I've written before would know that's a favourite area of mine. As tempting as it is to write an in depth analysis on every piece of work done by Nobuo Uematsu in this game, I'll try and keep it as succinct as I can. I guess I could always write that Nobuo Uematsu deep dive in my own thread if I really wanted to. Uematsu truly is a master of his craft though, most people who have played any Final Fantasy up to X can probably accurately name at least one if not more tracks from a Final Fantasy soundtrack. To Zanarkand anyone? Is Final Fantasy VIII my favourite one he's ever done? No, but I do really like it - and I think its incredibly memorable. This is a bit of an off topic segue but my favourite work of Uematsu is in Lost Odyssey, which was a wonderful game that I wish had been released on PS3 or PS4; fingers crossed it still could on some PlayStation platform. This is going to almost sound like an oxymoron now that I think about it, but if I was going to describe his work in Final Fantasy VIII I'd probably call it familar but original. What I mean by that, is that musically it has that Final Fantasy identity, but also exists as a fresh take on that similar sound. As I mentioned above, I'm not going to delve into any aspect of the story, at least not really important plot details anyway. I am going to talk about a few of the characters though and try and give a little bit of context as to why I actually prefer this entry to the beloved Final Fantasy VII (don't worry I like it too). I'm not going to compare every single character or anything, if I did that then Square Enix might actually have released all of FFVII remake by the time I finish. I do think, and this is purely my own opinion, in general the characters are better in Final Fantasy VIII - that isn't to say that VII's are bad but I think if anything, it has an overabundance of characters and none of them really get enough of the development that perhaps they should. You could argue some of them are optional like Vincent or Yuffie, but even the required members are a bit thin on the ground as far as character development goes. They did try with Cait Sith, although I dislike Cait Sith an irrational amount and I can't figure out why either. Back to VIII though, I think in this games case, the opposite to what I previously talked about is the case, for me at least; all the characters for the most part get a fair to decent amount of development. Part of why this works I believe is because there just isn't that many party members - and none of the characters get introduced to you too late in the story for there to not be a lack of character development cough Cid cough. Squall in particular is a very well developed character, he'd have to be really as he is the protagonist after all. I'm not going to get into a Cloud vs Squall sort of debate, I prefer Squall but I also like Cloud. I think I prefer Squall though, mainly down to the fact that his character grows a little bit more organically than Cloud does and I think his internalised thoughts are conveyed in a way that really match his actions. I think the characters themselves mesh better as friends too, whilst I like the rag-tag aspect to FFVII's crew, the amount of camaraderie between the cast of FFVIII feels very genuine. Looks like its time to delve into the trophies and the gameplay. Honestly the gameplay is probably where a lot of the divisiveness comes from regarding FFVIII. Its very different - its also one of those games where its pretty beneficial to keep your characters low level, as it ends up making the overall experience easier. The game does allow that in a lot of ways too, so at least it doesn't just pigeon-hole you into doing just one thing to get through the game. However, most RPG players brains are conditioned with the mindset of "fight enemies, get stronger" which usually alleviates difficulty spikes. In this game though, the enemies level with you, so unless you learn how to junction magic effectively, its going to get brutal. I hated the Junction system when I was younger as well, it took me a long time to really figure out how it all worked - and it wasn't until I was much older that I realised you could make the game so much easier by playing Triple Triad, in my younger days I just used the GF's as big hulking meat shields that also dealt some hefty damage. I think, due to the above, quite a few people ended up being turned off by this games mechanics not being very user friendly or explained particularly well. Speaking of Triple Triad, its so easy to get sidetracked playing lots of this, if there was an actual Triple Triad released that kept the same rules, even the weird ones like Plus/Same/Random and Elemental this game has I still think I'd buy it and play it, IT IS THAT FUN. In a lot of ways Tales of Zestiria has almost become the Tales of' series equivalent of Final Fantasy VIII, it changed a lot and took people out of their comfort zones I believe. It might seem like a strange comparison, but I feel like its a valid one, as Zestiria asks you to learn the mechanics and intricacies of the games crafting system instead of having you overpower yourself to defeat the hardest of foes. I remember thinking as I was playing through Final Fantasy VIII that the trophies could probably do with having a little bit more challenge to them, as they are all very straight-forward for the most part. I've thought about that some more and on reflection I think they should stay as they are. I'd be worried that if it was harder, it would either mar peoples enjoyment, or just straight up make people avoid the game altogether. I do know a few people who have avoided playing Final Fantasy IX because of the Hail to the King trophy. I'm not one of them, I just haven't got around to it yet, if that trophy beats me, it beats me. Simple. By going for the trophies in this game though, you do end up seeing about 90% of what the game wants you to see, so I think them leaving out a few things is forgivable - things that could have been troublesome like getting Odin or Gilgamesh or BOTH, which would have required an extra playthrough if you don't get Odin early could have been a pain for some. So ultimately I think this game has a pretty good balance for its trophies. Although the Obel Lake side-quest trophy can get in a flaming bin full of manure and fire itself into the sun, because that is so finicky and imprecise. The Trophies could have been much more strenuous, like having every characters ultimate weapon for example, that would probably slap another ten hours onto your playtime. So I'd rather people have a carefree time getting the platinum, than a frustrating one. So in the end I'm glad they are, just how they are. I think this humongous post, sort of illustrates that I'd recommend this game. It isn't perfect, but then nothing is really. It goes on sale quite often, but I think its worth the price whatever you ended up paying for it. Hypothetically speaking, I'm not sure this one should or would get the remake treatment from Square Enix. There are too many logistical problems you'd have to really change, like would they do Squall's internalised thoughts as Shakespearean asides or soliloquies? Realistically that would be odd, but how else do you convey the emotions of someone who deliberately internalises their own thoughts. Honestly and this is going to sound so jaded, they'd probably release it in about five parts and we'd have a lot of pointless DLC like Episode: Laguna or Episode: Seifer. I'm not being 100% serious there obviously, just thought it might be nice to end on a fun note; but it is the sort of practice I've unfortunately come to expect from Square Enix at this point - nor are they in any way the worst culprit of this. Still I enjoyed my 42 hours with Final Fantasy VIII immensely, feels great to add another Final Fantasy platinum to the collection. Popular Post Cpt-Redding
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Platinum #79: Difficulty: 5/10 (9/10 without Infallible exploit) Rating: 8/10 Time to Platinum: 40-60 hours Best trophy: Victory! - Win your first Episode. Worst trophy: Infallible - Win 5 Episodes in a row. Yes, oh yes, i used the custom games exploit to finally unlock Infallible. I like to think that i follow a sort of code when it comes to trophy hunting in that i do not use exploits that bypass or break game mechanics, or boost for online trophies. I try and earn the trophies in a "legitimate" manner if you will, one determined by my own compass mind you, but trying to earn Infallible was sapping the fun out of the game for me, a game that i earnestly enjoy playing, but casually, for a laugh. And to be honest, at this point so many people had earned it from earlier exploits, or the giant server sessions i see, i figured when the latest exploit was discovered i would just get it done. And here we are, ironically it was not even my last trophy, i still had to cajole and coral some people off here into helping with Squad Goals, but with Infallible sorted it was smooth sailing from there on. Anyway, Fall Guys itself, i love the game. I can see how people might find it frustrating, i certainly do at times, but its a refreshingly casual, colourful and over the top multiplayer game that i can quickly play for 30 minutes, laugh at its silliness and move on to something else. It reminds me of watching Takeshi's Castle as a child, the absurdity of it all and i am waiting for the day i see a Fall Guys inspired assault course pop up near me. I still play and enjoy it since the platinum and look forward to what Mediatonic have in store for the future (more SlimeScraper and SlimeClmb please) In terms of platinum, ignoring Infallible, it was not too difficult, mainly playing the game for an extended period of time will net you most trophies and the addition of Squad Showdown has made a fair few of them even easier. Infallible itself however is one of the more difficult trophies i have ever come across, and the heartbreak of winning 3 or 4 games in a row to then stupidly get eliminated by Tail Tag or mistiming a jump makes it all the worse, as often it was a somewhat dodgy game mechanic or my own fallibility that would end my streaks, rather than a rival competitor defeating me in a battle of brains, brawn and bravado. Popular Post JoaLoft
This time, I've got a slightly different platinum post to share. Seeing as how I got a PS5 recently, I've let several digital games autopop. Don't expect a big write-up on any of these platinum trophies, considering I already got these in the past, so I'll keep it short. #257 - No Man's Sky (PS5) Game has improved significantly since launch. They kept adding more and more free expansions, turning around their disastrous 2016 launch into a jam-packed game full of variety. Definitely worth playing! #258 - Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege (PS5) Been playing since its launch in December 2015, and it's still one of the best tactical shooters out there. Precautions have been taken over the years to deal with teamkillers and the game's community has improved a lot since then as well. I still jump into matches these days when new operators are injected into what is my favorite multiplayer game of the last console generation. #259 - Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (PS5) Just unlocked this on PS5, but I actually wrote a full post about it a few months ago when I completed everything on PS4. You can read my analysis here.
Popular Post cr1s
#556 - Street Fighter x Tekken (Vita) Zenith Unlock all Trophies. Difficulty: 5/10 Enjoyment: 7.5/10 A very straightforward fighting game platinum for the most part, and not as grindy as the PS3 version. The only challenging part was completing the missions. The hardest one for me was Mission 13, as it took me a little while (and some luck) to nail it. Missions 19 and 20 weren't as bad as I had expected (19 took me several tries while 20 only took me 3 tries). The good thing is that Zangief's Flying Power Bomb method still works in those missions. It comes down to luck as to how the characters react to it, though. Some of them just stand there waiting for you to Power Bomb them, while others may combo you to hell and back if they ever get a chance to break out of the Power Bomb chain. Equipping a damage-increasing gem certainly makes things a bit faster/easier. Besides that, you have a variety of modes to explore and things to do for the platinum: 28 Arcade playthroughs, 100 Trials, 300 Titles, 100 online wins, a bunch of move-related trophies, and some miscellaneous trophies. There's also a trophy for completing a match in ad-hoc (which requires a second Vita) as well as one that requires you to gift 5 character colors through Near, which can thankfully still be obtained as you can just back out after the Near app launches and it still counts. All in all, not that bad of a fighting game platinum. Much like the game, its difficulty is a crossover between the Street Fighter and Tekken series in that it's not too hard or too easy. I had dabbled in Tekken (7 and Tag Tournament 2) but not in Street Fighter, and I'll likely go back to the latter series eventually. In the meantime, I have many fighting games / series to discover and go back to. I'll be finishing the PS3 version of Street Fighter x Tekken and playing Tekken 6 next. Popular Post Carol
#215 Assassin's Creed Liberation Remastered Julius Caesar Earn every Trophy. I miss the old, classic AC games, so it was nice revisiting this game, after having only played the original Vita version some years ago. AC Liberation is a rather short game, but still pretty good and I especially liked the Chichen Itza missions. Aveline is a very pleasant protagonist too; she's a woman of strong convictions, but, at the same time, she's sensitive and grounded, which, in my opinion, makes her a charismatic, believable and likeable character. The platinum is also fun and straightforward, especially if you already know the game.
Popular Post its_ArchroniX
#37 The Crew 2 - You're THE Driver, baby 1.3% on Console - 15.05% on PSN Win all trophies What started for me as a fun racing game became a pretty damn grind throughout my playthrough. Don't get me wrong, I kinda liked the game. But there's certain moment I had to take break because of the awful AI you're racing against, incredibly cringy commentators and the fact you almost can't win races in the beginning of the game. Let alone the long and pretty dull grind to get 50% on each of the different kinds of racing types. Is it the worst racing game I've ever played? No, not by a long shot (that title still goes to Onrush) but it's far from the best I've ever played. The repetitive races, boring customization, overpriced cars and the fact there's cars locked behind battlepasses (or motorpasses called here) never made it the racing game I wanted it to be. Sure there's gotta be some challenge to unlock that shiny Bugatti or Ferrari but having to pay a whopping 2 million+ for one single vehicle, that might not even be the best out of its class, is a bit ridiculous. Especially after you realise you have already completed 20% of all races in order to even get that amount of cash in the first place. Nevertheless I had some fun getting the platinum trophy, even though above mentioned points made it sound like I didn't. If you want a trophy list that doesn't require that much time and is just overall pretty straight forward I'd say go for it since this game isn't the hardest out of the bunch. It's a classical Ubisoft trophy list, just like Assassin's creed or Far Cry games. Complete the story, do some side-missions, objectives and exploring and you're basically done. Popular Post iFraaN97
# 294 - Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Enjoyment : 8.5 / 10Difficulty: 5 / 10 Excellent campaign, zombies are so much fun and the setting is on point, even the multiplayer is not that bad at all, I quite enjoyed it. Honestly, the biggest problem with this game was that it came out at the wrong time, just the year after bo3, and it was also released alongside cod4 remastered, which is the reason why most of us in the community didn't care about it. I got the 100% as well, the zombies DLC maps are definitely worth it for anyone that enjoyed the base map.
eigen-space
Platinum #149 - The Moosman 81.14% Rarity Difficulty - 2/10, Time Spent - ~3 Hours, Enjoyment 2/10 The Mooseman is a cultural tale of how some immortal (?) called The Mooseman rips apart heaven and then gets his sons to rebuild it. I think. I wasn't really paying attention to be honest. I can't remember a game that I've disliked more than this one (that's a lie.... Block-a-Pix was definitely worse). Usually I like games that give cultural insights (like Never Alone), but this one was just badly implemented. The character moves at a snail's pace throughout the environments and you have to do some very basic puzzle solving to get through the environment. There are also some annoying collectibles to pick up along the way. Unforunately I didn't realize that there was a chapter select, so after missing a couple collecitbles, I restarted the game... three times... oops. I also really am in shock that this has such a high completion percentage. I definitely thought that some people would be annoyed by the buggy collectibles. But I guess @IBadDriverI's guide has helped many people through this platinum. Anyway... probably don't play this game.

Popular Post Viper
#232 Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Overlord I want to say I loved this, I really do...but I honestly was pretty annoyed by it for most of the game, then when I finally started feeling comfortable with it, it was almost the end of the game and it was time to focus on the unnecessary grind that only furthered the annoyance. I'm not well versed in Castlevania...if I ever played one, it was on an NES and it wasn't for long, and I was really young. So the things about this game that annoyed me, are the things people LOVE about it, and feel nostalgic about so complaining that it's like this doesn't really matter. But things like how the back step mechanic works...I never got used to it. Couldn't. It was simple enough...make sure Meriam is facing the opposite direction you want her to back step in and simply press L1. But my brain wants to direct her...it wants to hold the left stick to turn her the way I want to go...and I just couldn't for the life of me get used to it. I feel like that one minor change would have given you a lot more control in battle. Also, a parry/block button would have worked wonders...you could learn a block skill with swords, but one wrong input and it won't work. Then something simple like the bosses having a health bar would have been nice. Again, all things people who love this genre don't mind NOT having because...that's Castlevania, but I like QoL improvements in modern games. It's not like I didn't have fun with it...it was just frustrating most of the time. I'm willing to concede that I'm trash at this game, I'm too lazy these days to learn intricate patterns for bosses...I just want to go in there and be a bad ass and fuck everything up. But by the time we get to the end of the game, I've leveled up enough, raised me stats enough, got decent shards and gear to not feel like my lack of pattern learning and back step inability was hurting me...and you're left with the All Items trophy...a tedious, unnecessary grind of a trophy that just doesn't need to be there. The amount of back and forth to get items I didn't have or ran out of was mind numbing...I would have preferred if there was some high priced item you could buy to make it so ALL ingredients and materials are available in the store. Again, just something little that would have improved the game. Overall, if you're a Metroidvania nut...you'll probably love this game. It was a solid story, good voice acting, had a nice old school vibe to it. I'm just shit at this style of game, and it kind of affected my overall fun I should have had. Plus I was expecting something else...I was expecting something more fast paced and combo focused akin to Dust: An Elysian Tail, but it's bit more technique based. Again, not a bad game by any means...but just not something I was overly prepared for or familiar with. Edited June 11, 2021 by Viper
