Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
Please let me know if anyone sees any discrepancies. If you see any discrepancy, please let us know EXACTLY what it is. DO NOT edit any of your posts with your games because if it was edited with a December date, we are going to assume that it was added afterwards and our initial tally is correct. Anyways, here's the totals. @DrBloodmoney kind of did this job for me with quick turnaround with badges, but ya know, never hurts to double check. I saw a lot of people thanking @Starrk_01 and @DrBloodmoney, but she was also a huge help in putting together the document, checking for missing entries, and entering information as well. I know Starrk_01 and myself were on the forefront responding to individuals, but this was a team effort by all of us and want her to get credit as well for the event. Anyways, for tax purposes, I will likely not be donating the total amount until January (unless I end up with a ton of medical bills in the last month of the year *knocks on wood*), but if people will like proof of my donation, I can show it to them after that. Though, part of me wants to just double the donation and donate now to the Jimmy V foundation with college basketball going on and again in January to the American Cancer Society team I am part of. Eh, I'll think on it... If anyone has any ideas to spice up the event for next year or has any suggestions, feel free to let us know. I think there are already a few things we may do like re-evaluating all the denied games and updating the current list as popular games come out and use the same list next year. However, if there is something else you would like to specifically be changed, we can at least consider it. Worst we can do is say now (just like any of the submissions, haha) Edited December 2, 2023 by Beyondthegrave07

Like is there a particular charity or organisation we're donating to? If proof of my donation is needed, then that's perfectly fine too. Can't wait to see what next year's event will be like!

I don't think proof of donation is necessary as this is your personal commitment. No one should hold you accountable except yourself and if anyone is faking a commitment to donate to people in need for internet fame... well, I don't need to explain further and I don't think any reasonable person would do something like that. In regards to where to donate to, that's up to you. There are SEVERAL amazing places to donate to that all fight cancer that I have mentioned in the thread previously (quoted below). If you live in the EU, you'll probably have similar organizations there to donate to that I'm not aware of, but it would be disingenuous to force everyone to donate to the same place because that's not the important part of this... it's the bigger picture of ending this horrid disease and to help others suffering from it no matter where you live in the world On 11/22/2023 at 6:58 AM, Beyondthegrave07 said: There's really a few options you can donate to... all worthy causes fighting the good fight and really no bad answers. The Jimmy V foundation is a good one. Originally found by ESPN years ago in honor of Jimmy Valvano who was a former college coach and ESPN announcer. The American Cancer Society is also a very reputable organization that has been helping with research and those battling Cancer for years. St. Jude is also a great place to donate to who specializes in helping children with cancer and donations make it so that no parent is ever charged for their child's treatment. What I'm saying is that there is no wrong places to donate. I donate to a specific team I am on in the American Cancer Society as part of Relay for Life, and as much as I would love to share the link and have a bunch of people donate to my team directly, I have received too many death threats or weird cryptic messages from (former) members of PSNP who have no business knowing what my name is and where I roughly live. Better to be safe than sorry. Edited December 2, 2023 by Beyondthegrave07
Popular Post Han_the_Dragon
Glad that I got a game in for each color! Popular Post VersusCA
Big credit to @pelagia14 for helping yet another event run so smoothly! I haven't been in too many events but seems like she's always ready to pick up the torch and help, like with the TARDIS event and being a huge organiser for the trophy hunting day, which is really cool 👏 And of course @DrBloodmoney did a great job with the badges. The #s on the arm is such a creative twist, it makes me very glad that I did manage to find some shovelware for pink so that I didn't have a big fat zero/blank space on half the image 😅 @Starrk_01 was super active in the thread helping decide what counts as orange or pink, honestly I think it would be tough to be the arbiter of some of these images. I don't envy him that task! And of course @Beyondthegrave07 for staging the event and pledging such a significant amount of money to a good cause. I will definitely be back next year

I don't envy him that task! This can't be understated. Being an arbiter for this is super hard and is not a very fun process to go back and say no when we disagree or have to turn down a submission. Starrk_01 took on this role for most of the event and I hope no one sees him as some sort of villain as he's just doing his best and despite saying no to several entries, cares about this event just as much as I do and his donation will be the exact same as mine. I enjoy organizing data and making spreadsheets related to my hobbies, and these events are lovely moments where those intersecting interests of mine are useful. 😂 I want to give a huge shout-out to @Beyondthegrave07 and @Starrk_01 for creating such a fun charity event. Thank you as well to those of you who are planning to join them in donating to various cancer-fighting charities in the upcoming weeks. 🩷🧡 Now for some (hopefully) interesting stats about this event! Even though I'm posting event stats now, if you notice any of your entries missing from Beyondthegrave07's recent 'final results' post, please let us know! 2023 STATS: 77 Participants! 7 of these participants each had over 10 entries! 361 completed entries! Potentially up to 365 entries, pending a few 2-week rarity checks! 204 Orange entries (potentially up to 207) 157 Pink entries (potentially up to 158) GAMES: Most Popular Overall & Pink Game: Unpacking - 21 Entries! Most Popular Orange Game: Call of the Sea - 8 Entries! Most Popular "Either Color" Game: Tie between Death's Door and Moving Out 2 at 3 entries each! Additional Popular Game Entries: Endling: Extinction is Forever - 6 entries The Medium - 5 entries Life is Strange: True Colors - 5 entries Dodgeball Academia - 4 entries It Takes Two - 4 entries There were a total of 19 games that had at least 3 entries. The games with 3 entries each (that are not already mentioned) were: A Short Hike, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Doom 64, Foreclosed, Paradise Killer, Pumpkin Jack, Super Stardust Portable, Twisted Metal, and Twisted Metal 2 (+ potentially Jet Moto, pending rarity). To no surprise, almost all of these games were available on either PS+ Catalog's Extra or Premium tiers. A few were recent PS+ Monthly Games (A Short Hike, Death's Door, and Endling). The only game that was *not* a Catalog-available or recent Monthly Game was Pumpkin Jack - though it helps that the game was on sale for 70-75% around Halloween. 😉

Unfortunately, I can't really help you in that regard or others outside of North America. If you are struggling to find somewhere to donate to, let me know, and I can do a bit of research myself or ask around. But, as you said, there should be plenty of good places to donate to in your neck of the woods! I can also explain U.S. tax and why it's more beneficial for me to finalize my donation in January vs December (I am a certified public accountant 🤓), but I don't really want to bore everyone with the details unless you have insomnia. 😆 Edited December 2, 2023 by Beyondthegrave07
the1andonly654
Thanks for the event and for the badge! I haven't done much this year since it was tough to find something color appropriate that I'd want to play at least a little. I'll try to do better next year. Much respect for running the event. With the time and effort it takes to make gaming more fun for people and support a cause at the same time, events like these are hands down the most positive thing I've experienced on this website.

Assuming you're still UK based, here's a couple: The one I gave to last year was Cancer Research UK. And I've also been to the ward funded by Teenage Cancer Trust, where they focus on cancer research for people aged between 16-24 (which is thankfully quite rare) as well as an environment that will make their time in hospital much more pleasant. When I did work on that ward a few years back there was a PS4 by all the beds. 2 hours ago, pelagia14 said: Now for some (hopefully) interesting stats about this event! I had pledged $2 a plat thinking I'd be giving a couple hundred bucks, but damn! Anyway, a pledge is a pledge and while it's more than I anticipated giving, it is very worth it I know no proof was necessary, but I see this as a team donation as a lot of time and effort by a lot of people went into it so here's my proof that everyone's hard work did result in a donation from me. $760 smackaroos to the V Foundation. I'm very happy to be able to donate to such a worthy cause. It's amazing what can happen in a year. Last November, a large, aggressive tumor was found on the base of my seven year old niece's skull. We are very lucky it was discovered when it was, because according to the doctor...a couple more weeks would have been too late for them to do anything. She had emergency surgery to remove the tumor and then spent the next several weeks preparing for radiation and chemo in the hopes to be in remission. Part of the preparation involved harvesting her stem cells to help her small body recover...a relatively new treatment. She spent December and January undergoing radiation and then had five months of chemo. It was a very scary time for my brother and his wife as it was a tough location for the cancer to be and these were some pretty new treatments that she was undergoing. She had a very hard time with the chemo. She needed a feeding port to be installed since she couldn't keep any food down and she lost her hair as well. The poor kid has yet to have a normal school year between the craziness of Covid and her recent battle with cancer. She has been a trooper though and video games ended up being very good for her wellbeing. She wasn't able to get out and do much and she was able to pass the time and have a little bit of fun using her mini SNES to play with her parents and some nurses. The road was long for her and more than any seven year old should ever have to endure, but I'm happy to say that after several grueling months of treatments, she was declared cancer free right before Thanksgiving at her most recent checkup. My family has a lot to be thankful for this year for the holidays. This is a picture of her after hearing she is cancer free ❤️ I want to thank each and everyone of the participants for making the platinum number so high this year. These treatments are discovered in part due to the donations that these researchers receive. Without them, my family could be having a very different experience this holiday season...From the bottom of my heart, thank you @Beyondthegrave07 and @Starrk_01for hosting again. Thank you to @pelagia14 for your contributions to the event as well and for getting the final statistics out so quickly! Thank you also to @DrBloodmoney for the outstanding badges.

Awww, that's so cool to hear she's cancer free! I know what it's like to watch a love one fight cancer and the mental struggles it puts on the whole family so it makes me so happy to hear that your niece was able to hear the words "cancer free" after her fight. Research has really come a long way in the past 10 years and it's all thanks to the collective effort to raise money for research. Thanks for sharing this story. I'm glad it has a happy ending to it. All the ones I would share are pretty tragic. 😅

Popular Post Vulpine9Tails
Thanks all for the event. I'm happy I got as many games done as I did. I lost an uncle to bone cancer and another to pancreatic cancer within the last two years, and it's scary how quick they can progress. The uncle that was lost to pancreatic cancer had just started to make amends with his family, but then was diagnosed after having some abdominal pain and passed away within a month of being diagnosed. It was so quick. He had people by his side while he was going through it at least. Anyways, thanks to the people who are donating. Right now finances are extremely difficult for me due to my partner's lack of employment, but I will keep in mind for the future to see what I can do too.

Jeanolt
I'm really sorry I didn't post until now, this week was crazy and I forgot about the new month coming in and the event. I don't know if it counts, but I completed Spiderman: Miles Morales 10 days ago, way before the deadline, so that would make orange. I totally forgot about Unpacking, but it doesn't matter, I'll donate those 2$ myself, along with the small donation I promised before. Thanks @Beyondthegrave07 as always for being an amazing moderator, and a better person, making this event that along with the mental health event, is the only one that raises money for causes like this. Great job also @DrBloodmoney with the badges. If you still have the resources to make another one for me and forgive my horrible timing that'd be great lol. That's no problem - once you have your final count confirmed, PM me with the numbers, and I'll make a new one 👍

Sorry, the reason why I have the deadline and even had (Starrk_01 tag everyone) was to avoid situations like this so I won't be including it in the count on the spreadsheet... but at the same time, I'll round up to $750 when donating so in spirit it will! However, if @DrBloodmoney wants to update it for the spirit of the event, I will leave that decision on him as I am indifferent on it

jsisoo
This was amazing to be a part of. The numbers are seriously impressive. Well done guys! I donated to The American Cancer Society which @Beyondthegrave07 linked me to privately. It's a drop in the ocean compared to your contributions, but every bit helps. Thanks @DrBloodmoney for my 1st-ever badge! It's awesome 😍 Hopefully 1st of many.. Spoiler Edited December 4, 2023 by jsisoo spolier
