Popular Post Squirlruler
Hello fellow trophy hunters and event participants! Another Year Another Card to fill! We had a great turnout last year with 68 participants and a whopping 14 full card bingos. Let's see if we can't break those numbers! BINGO BONANZA 2023 (Originally hosted by @XX_FTW) How It Works Each player will receive a randomly-generated bingo card filled with 25 individual challenges. The goal is to check off 5 boxes in a row and achieve Bingo! To check off a box, the player must complete a game that fulfills the box’s challenge. Notes A game can only be used to fulfill a single challenge. No two birds, one stone here. Game completion, for this purpose, is defined as finishing the story or equivalent. Platinum or 100% is not required to check off a box. The game must have a trackable achievement system, such as psn trophies, xbox or steam achievements. Some categories have more room for interpretation than others. Feel free to make things fit, but please try to keep in the spirit of the challenge. There are 68 individual challenges in the pool the cards are generated from. The 69th (nice) is the only universal challenge placed as every center box: Player’s Choice. Frequently Asked Questions Chances are the answer to any questions you have is "I hesitate to give a definitive benchmark as I’d like you guys to have as much freedom in your interpretation as possible while staying true to the spirit of each challenge." If that's not enough for you, see below for some previous asked and answered questions. Spoiler Can I join? Sure. There is no cut-off date for sign ups. Can I finish games I started before 2023? Yes, games previously started can be used for the challenge assuming you haven't completed the story/story equivalent. Trophy clean-ups aren't eligible, even if it requires an additional playthrough. Do I need to list out my plans at the start? Can I change my mind about what games to play for each challenge? I’m not holding anyone to any particular game for any category, until you report a challenge completed. So if you play Game X and use it to mark off Square N4, that is then set. If you say you’re planning to play Game Y for Square B2 but end up playing Game Z instead, that’s completely fine. Are DLCs eligible? There is a specific challenge for DLC which can be fulfilled with any type of DLC. If you are looking to use DLC to fulfill a challenge outside of that specific one: then yes, assuming the DLC provides significant content. Let’s use discretion as to not override the spirit of the challenge. What does "Platform Exclusive" mean? Released only on one system. For example: Uncharted: Golden Abyss would count but Persona 4 Dancing (which was recently released on PS4) would not. "Last Game You Acquired" can be established as of when you generate your card or when you're ready to attempt the specific challenge. Up to you. What counts as a peripheral? Peripheral can be defined as broadly as your cellphone for Playlink or Karaoke Games, or specifically as Wonderbook or PSVR. I am going to expand this by including any game that has an online leaderboard/interactive website that can be checked outside of the game (IE battlefield) I don't subscribe to PS Plus but I have the "Redeemed from PS Plus" challenge square. What do I do? Choose a game that has been offered on PS Plus. Does the colon or (insert mark here) count as punctuation for the "With a # or Punctuation Mark in the Title" challenge? Yes! If it's a punctuation mark, it counts. Even symbols are acceptable. What game should I play for Challenge X? Pitch it to the group and you're sure to get some great suggestions. How do I post an image? Host the image elsewhere (such as imgur) and then post the direct image link into the "Insert Image with URL" button in the reply box. Yes, you need to post an image of your bingo card. Oh no! I have already filled my card and the year isn't over! What do I do? First off, congrats! Next, get another card and get to work! Would a game count for "banned in a country" if the ban has since been lifted? Yes! Posting Image Guide Spoiler Use Printscreen or a screenshot (Firefox has one built into the browser, windows 10 has one built in as well ctrl+shft+s) Go to Imgur and click on New Post Paste the image there Once the post is there, you can right click on the image and hit "Copy Image Link". Paste that in the forum should display the image. Sample Card Spoiler Card Generator Cross your fingers. Pluck a nose hair. Spin your pencil six times. Whatever your superstitious practice is: do it and then follow this link. Click on “Generate Card.” Screenshot your bingo card and post it here. It is encouraged to stick with the first card you generate as one of the goal's of this event is to get you out of your comfort zone and help you find joy in new things (as many of last year's participants can attest). A reroll is allowed, however, if there is a box that is a complete and utter nonstarter. Good luck. Important Dates Bingo Bonanza will run for the Year of 2023. Start Time: January 1st, 2023 00:00 UTC+14 End Time: December 31st, 2023 23:59 UTC-12 So, grab your controllers and don your visors, it’s Bingo Time! Bingo Tiers To allow for varying levels of participation, we have prepared three reward tiers: Elite Grandmas Full Blackout Bingo (all bingo challenges have been met). Again, I am not looking for something super strict when it comes to fulfilling requirements, it's more about having fun and maybe playing something you wouldn't normally play. I think it would be cool if we had badges to give out for those with a completed card. If you are graphically gifted and would like to donate your time to creating these, PM me so we can chat. I have been chatting with @DrBloodmoney and he has agreed to make badges for those of you that get to the different ranks for bingo! Here are some samples: Spoiler Check out last years badges here! Note: These are the 2022 badges, the 2023 won't look exactly like these. They look so awesome! Thank you again for creating these badges. Han_the_Dragon
I'm in. That's my card, I will think a bit on the games later.. Not really that excited about the F2P.. The Isometric view is an unknown for me too.. everything else should be okey, even if I may need a little research for a few. Since I have again a "Recommended by other PSNP member", I will be open for suggestions, even if this will be one of the last ones that I will do.

ShinigamiSensei-
Ok, i'm in. I have to say that i rerolled 1 time because of the peripheral square... This is my bingo: i'm not really sure what "spawned an Expanded Universe" means tbh...something like the Yakuza/Judgement series maybe? i will see some examples later hehe. It's good to be back to this event! Good luck to all.

papert0wng1rl
I am about to fill the whole bingo card for 2022 so I am definitely in for next year! A few categories will be a challenge for me, but I'm curious to push the envelope a bit.

ExHaseo
This seems like it should be fun. Here's my card! I just had a question about the recommended square. Can I use a game from the PS+ EXTRA-vaganza event for that? The games from the event are recommendations from the community, and it would make it easier to do both events. SyIaris
So, my personal rule is I take the first sheet with no more than 12 repeats from the previous one. Peripheral-based, why you again. ಠ_ಠ Interesting set, looks like getting a bingo might be a little tricky. Recs, please? It doesn't have to be something I already own, also have PS+ Extra. Edited December 7, 2022 by SyIaris Found an old post answering my question.

Hurricane_Tanya
Excited to start again in the new year. Hopefully I’ll get the motivation to finish the last game on my 2022 board as well I got quite a lot of the same categories, but that’s ok. Oldest in my backlog means finally finishing Fallout 4 (after 7 years). I’ll have to have a think about games that are reboots or spiritual successors, I think I already finished the games that would have counted that I own. The last game that I acquired was Signalis, just putting that here so I remember. I might see if I have any newer games by the time I get to that square though. I’d also love some recommendations, they don’t need to be games I own or have started. Although you can look to see what sort of games I enjoy, I’m happy to try anything though
DrBloodmoney
Nice! I'm in, last year was a blast, and hope for the same this year! My card: https://bingobaker.com/#d1458a1aab63cf7f ....a little worried about that "released the year you joined PSNP" box, but that's the nature of the RNG beast, I guess - we all have at least one that seems a rough one to satisfy!
Han_the_Dragon
A questions about isometric view. Anything from this list would count? https://www.gamepressure.com/games/ps4/isometric-view/ I say this because I was thinking that Isometric view would be limited to stuff like Diable, but by that list, stuff like Disgaea is also Isometric view. After running through that, I came to the final list of games that I may use for "Isometric view", but would like a confirmation if they count or not. Tactics Oger Disgaea 4 Complete+ TOEM Darksiders Genesis Thronebreaker Legend of Herors: Trails of Azure Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero Diofiend Star Ocean First Departure R Othercide Banner of the Maid God Wars

This one was always easier back in the pre-3D days! Basically, there were 3 different ways 2D games could allow 3-axis movement - Isometric, Oblique, or "Top-Down 3/4". Isometric would be anything where perspective is all on diagonals - "North" is either the top left, or top right corner, and the other 3 compass points are the other three corners. Oblique is slightly fudged - where "North" is top centre AND top left / top right - basically, things are viewed "flat" when looking at them, but their Z-dimension is pulled left or right to allow showing perspective, like in Paperboy. 3/4s Top Down is like Link to the Past - things are viewed in a "correct" perspective, but North remains top centre, and the other three compassions points are the centres of the three other sides of the screen. It all went a bit more wishy-washy with 3D moving cameras though. Oblique no longer really exists in 3D (because objects actually BUILT in 3D, can't be "fudged" in the way oblique perspective used to be used) and TBH, 3/4 doesn't get used, and makes very little sense as a fixed 3D camera angle. What you basically have now, is either "2.5D" (which is a bit of a misnomer, but essentially gets used to describe 3D assets viewed on a 2D Plane game), "Full 3D" - i.e. following the character around, like in a 3rd Person shooter... ...or something like Tunic, Diablo, Disco Elysium or most tactics games. These are still sort of "Isometric" as they have a camera that can move, but it's position and orientation remain generally fixed in isometric orientation ... ...but stuff like TOEM is more difficult, as it is roughly isometric for the most part, (as I understand) but the camera can swing around... ...so really, it's just "3D". BUT - in an age of "Full 3D" games as the norm, I'd still think most folks would consider TOEM and it's ilk it broadly under the "isometric" banner, because it's still distinct from full player control, camera-on-player type games.
