Trophies to Fight Cancer 

INTRODUCTION:

 

Hi Everyone!

 

It's your second-favorite mod again with another charity event, but this time, I will be raising money to help those suffering from cancer/going through cancer treatment/etc. Every year, I donate money to a local team that helps people in the community who have cancer and decided this year that I will let PSNP decide how much I will donate based on how well you all do in this event (don't let me down). This event is more relevant now than ever. With hospitals full with COVID cases and the fear of COVID itself, less people are being screened for cancer and therefore, more people are being caught with cancer at later stages which leads to more chemotherapy, more terminal patients, and more people needing help with costs, etc. My last event was focused more on having a discussion, but this one will be all about the games and helping each other find games to raise as much money as possible. I also am more than happy if anyone would like to join in the charity event. Here are the brave who decided to pledge a donation as well (not necessarily $2 donation per game, but a donation nevertheless):

With all that being said, here's the rules:

 

DA RULES:

 

First of all, this is an open-ended event. No deadlines for "sign-ups." As long as you fulfill the requirements, you'll be "signed-up."

 

And the rules for this event are pretty simple. This will be a two-month event starting October 8th and end November 30th, 2021 GMT+0. For every game completed with pink (October's breast cancer awareness) in the PSNP thumbnail or orange (November's prostate cancer awareness), I will donate $2 to a local charity. For this event, you can complete as many games as possible as long as they follow the below rules.

 

1. No autopopping platinums (No 10 second plats, sorry!)
2. You can play games you've stacked before, but you cannot stack the same trophy list (same thumbnail) twice for the event. (example: only pop one sound shapes plat, doing all 6 will only count as 1).
3. No games with a RARITY completion percentage above 80%. (I want you to at least sort of earn it this time)
4. The game has to at least have been out for 2 weeks in order for it to count (No sneaking in Zippy stacks at the last second)
5. You must post here during the time period for the game to count and must tell me which color it is (orange or pink, you can only choose one color).

 

Other than that, everything else is free game. I don't want to make it difficult for people to earn money for the event, but I also want to make sure people actually have to put in some sort of effort to earn it as well. Otherwise, I might as well just empty my bank account now. Length of the game doesn't matter as long as it follows these rules.

 

EXAMPLES:

 

So, deciding what is orange vs what is pink is not as straight forward as I thought and I'm sure there are some people wondering, "Wtf does he mean by thumbnails and what is acceptable?" One step at a time!

 

1. What is pink and what is orange?

 

These are Orange....

 

These are Pink....

 

Look, I'm not going to insult your intelligence and argue what color is orange and what color is pink, but if you can match it to either of these two, you are good. I'm going to use the honor system here for the most part, but don't use red and call it pink and don't use yellow and call it orange. I'm going to call you out on your bullshit and not count it. At least ask ahead of time if you are really not sure. I'm likely not going to just say flat out no, but I don't want people to tell me Dead Nation is pink when it's as blood red as it gets. 

 

2. Wtf is a thumbnail and can I get some examples?

 

A thumbnail is the little picture next to the game on your PSNProfile. This almost always matches the trophy list image on PSN and if it doesn't, you should tell the GIT team so we can try and fix it. Here are some examples of pink and orange ones and some examples of some that are not pink or orange.

Like I said, I'm not going to be too picky on it, but please use common sense. My suggestion is if you even have to question it, then pick something else or at least ask me before you commit in the thread. I have a few games I've seen where you could convince me either way (Nonary games I got red, blood orange, and blood pink as answers when I asked on Discord) and I'll probably take it if you can convince match it to a paint color with the word pink or orange in it. I'll be as lenient as possible, but wanted to post some examples to help anyone who needs help. If you are indeed colorblind, I can make an ongoing list, and I suggest others to post what games they are thinking to help as well. Color blindness is a real thing too, and I want to help anyone who has it if they are interested in this event.

 

BADGES!!!

 

Badges are coming back and if you want one, vote in the poll on who you want on your badge. That's right. FULLY customizable badges. Pick one orange character and one pink character and you are all set. If you finish a game with a pink thumbnail your badge will have the pink character ONLY on your badge. If you finish a game with orange in the thumbnail, you'll get ONLY the orange character on your badge. If you do both, you will get 1 badge with both characters! Pretty cool, huh? Not only that, if you finish multiple games for each badge, the badge will have a counter of how many games you finished for the event to show how awesome you are. It's very likely that no two badges will look the same. Whether you decide to only play a single orange game, 4 orange games and no pink games, or 3 pink games and 3 orange games... They'll all look a little different! Thanks again to @Ellie-nyan for doing the badges. I can't thank her enough for her hard work, and helping me come up with the idea for badges and for helping me decide on the characters to use for the event. Deciding on the characters was EXTREMELY tough. We wanted to stay exclusively to Playstation/multiplatform characters (sorry Kirby), and tried to pick popular characters and characters from different genres so everyone had at least one of each to vote on. If your favorite orange character/pink character didn't make it into the poll, please leave it as a suggestion at the end of the event and maybe it will make it in (possible) future events. Stay tuned!

 

Few last things to note:

 

-There is no deadlines for sign-ups, it's open until the very end of the event.

-I'll track participants once a game is finished by them. Technically, anyone can participate in the event even if they don't want a badge/forget to vote.

-Remember to report back here if you want your game to count. 

-It doesn't matter if you already started the game or not, it counts as long as it's finished between the two dates.

- You can do just the base of a 100% that has DLC trophies, but the rarest trophy has to be under 80% and you must point this out to me if you decide to do this. Otherwise, it doesn't count.

- Pink and orange games can be earned in either month. October or November. Doesn't matter.

- Please make a new post when you finish a game. Otherwise, it'll likely get missed.

I'm in sort of the same situation tbh. ? I don't really have any pink or orange games I'm playing right now so need to sift through the backlog to do what I can.

Like, I have been working on Kandagwa Jet Girls which should qualify for orange, but I’ve started it prior to Oct 8. Is that an issue?

I just realised that 2 other games I planned to Platinum this month also fall into the Orange section.

 

So here is my plan for this event.

 

Blaster Master Trilogy for Pink

 

Resident Evil 2 and 3 for Orange

 

Least I believe those 2 count for orange.

Cool event, I will participate. I know Worms Rumble will work for Orange but not sure about pink yet.

 

As for your games Beyond, do you plan on doing Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls? That would be a pink game.

 

Edit - actually would the worm's headphone count as pink? I have lots of orange to play

I can't possibly ignore the copious kismet in the fact that I have just started Tales of Arise, which would appear to qualify for both Pink and Orange!

Oh man I love this cause! I would like to donate $2 for every game that I plat or 100%, and I would like to know more about how to do that. But first, my games are as follows:-
